I've been a competitive shooter since the age of 10, so I've had the opportunity to shoot on a lot of shooting ranges all over the country. There are a lot of very nice shooting ranges in the USA, Canada, & Europe, unfortunately the Carson City Shooting Park is not one of them. The sad thing is that this could be a really nice range, but the individuals that use this range are, by their disrespect for this facility, 3-steps below trailer trash. These slobs with guns and a pickup truck load of trash [that they gleefully scatter about the range property] will never be totally worthless as they can always serve as a bad example. I can't wait to see another anti-gun documentary starring the slobs that inhabit the Carson City Shooting Park range. You know what you can expect from the low-lifes at this range when you see the shot-up road signs on the road leading to the range . . . ah I mean trash dump populated by armed slobs. This place needs supervision.

This is the main range people down in Carson go to. Its not organized and maintained like some of the ranges in Reno.

There is no full time rangemaster here. NO fees. So you need to cooperate with the others out here, if there are any. This is not my first choice to shoot, I sort of like a more civilized range when it comes to personal safety. Please clean up and no glass! I mean, I like shooting at propane cylinders just as much as the next girl, but do it somewhere safe and clean up the desert if you go out to BFE. I wouldn't come out here by myself either...even though I am armed, cause everybody else is. -

A pretty scuzzy & wretched dung heap of a shooting range which is more of a landfill in the making and garbage dump than an actual faclility for serious shooters.
Unlike some of the private shooting clubs I belong to this one is open to the public and therefore no one's really being paid to upkeep the place.
Also, a certain percentage of the folks who frequent this facility are less interested in serious shooting and are more about just plinking at their old TVs, auto bodies, fridges, glass bottles ( or whatever other Hee Haw horsehit strikes their fancy) and since many of these same people do not pick up after themselves --this range has become something of an impromptu junkyard.
In addition, many of these weekend warriors displayed some seriously careless and unsafe gun handling practices. That said, everyone was pretty good about regulating themselves and cooperating when it came to abiding by ceasefire periods and allowing for interested parties to go downrange to set up/check targets.
One of the other few things I liked about this range was the fact that it was possible to shoot out to 200yards which is always a plus for us rifle shooters.
