This place is amazing. The studio is incredible. Teachers are nice and friendly and not snobby at all. Really dedicated to yoga. Prices are reasonable and they have some specials and student discounts.

I've only been to a couple of classes at CYCO. It is a gorgeous studio which helps with a quiet practice. I've been to a class taught by Allison (who is now at Open Heart Yoga) and a class taught by Michelle. They were both super classes each in their own way. I felt challenged and their styles were enhanced by the lovely space. I like that their studio is dimly lit and I don't feel a sense of competition like I do at some yoga studios. I will definitely go back to this studio again.

    Yoga beginner, not expert.

However, I have practiced lots of places and this is a really good one. The instructors teach to all levels, offer ways to increase or decrease the intensity and all are working to create a happy peaceful environment in which students can work towards goals they have for themselves.

The studio is easy to find, easy to sign up, the online schedule is wonderful, bathrooms are clean, folks are friendly.

One thing- If you take a  noon class, there is a pizza kitchen downstairs and the smells start wafting up and stomachs start to rumble. At least mine did.

My favorite thing about this studio is the ambience. I have fallen asleep multiple times in child pose and corpse pose while taking classes here. The two studios are wood-panelled with paper lanterns and ceiling fans, and a few windows; it's on the second floor of carr mill mall (so you don't have to worry about peeping toms while you're stretching). They share teachers with Blue Point in Durham sometimes, and all the yoga teachers in the area are amazing.
it's nice to take the same class multiple times to get to know the teacher and their style.
    And it's not too expensive.
However, even though the parking lot is big, Carr Mill is popular on holiday breaks and during the weekends, so parking on sundays is near impossible. I recommend going during the week in the evening or afternoon, when parking is the easiest.

I took a 5-week "Yoga for Beginner's" class here and had a very positive experience.

The studio is located on the second floor so go to the very west end of the building and up the metal exterior stairs to enter.  Parking can be difficult, but is never impossible (especially on the Harris Teeter side of the mall).

It was winter and with the big windows, high ceilings, exposed brick & hardwood floors (all of which I loved) I was worried it would be cold, but the studio was always comfortable.

The instructor was knowledgeable, patient and a good teacher... classes pretty much started and ended on time.

I considered signing up for another class here, but the Carrboro Park's Department had a much more affordable offering that I went with instead.

I haven't been to CYC in a few years and in really regretting that hiatus now! My friend old me she was heading to a free Sunday night class there after we finished studying and I decided to tag along. Despite the fact that it was really really crowded - not a terribly enticing way to practice - it ended up being amazing.

From the moment you walk into the studio you can't help but feel calmed. The staff are so kind and inviting as they welcome you to class. The studios are beautiful - not too big or too open! The only downfall is that they are right above Carr Mill Mall, so you can hear background noise below during your silent meditation.

I know they offer a variety of classes and also have student rates that are apparently the best in town. I'm definitely going to have to make a conscious effort to attend classes more often.

Great yoga studio offering a variety of styles, including the only Jivamukti classes in the area as well as prenatal yoga, yoga for athletes, flow, ashtanga, pilates, Kripalu, and gentle yoga.  There's definitely a class for everyone.  The space is beautiful, with wood floors and big windows.  Mats and props are provided if you don't have your own.  The price is right, too!  If you are a student or a teacher, classes cost just $10 each.  Otherwise, you can drop in for a still-reasonable $14.  CYCo also hosts workshops periodically, so check the website or stop by for information.

5/8/10 update...  CYCo is under new ownership, and better than ever.  The class schedule has been simplified somewhat.  Instead of listing the style of yoga (with a few exceptions such as  Anusara-Inspired and Yoga for Athletes classes), the classes are named Yoga, Flow, or Power Flow.  I think the intention of this is to indicate the level of difficulty a student can expect in a given class.
There's some beautiful new art on the walls and some great workshops scheduled.

Great yoga studio, wonderful teachers. I also like the payment scheme- I can load a card up with money and it won't expire-- unlike other studios with time limits on sessions etc.
