5 reviews for Carrabba's Italian Grill
so this place is a chain.... but not in california. so it's new to me! :)
good food, good price, and good service. all signs for a good meal!
Sangria is great here, and can come in a carafe which is about 5 glasses
Yummy Dishes:
- cozze in bianco - mussels! in a white win-butter basil sauce. great with the fresh baked bread too. this is a great meal all for yourself, or for sharing too.
- sirloin marsala - they do a pretty good job at cooking the steak to order, not overcooked. and the marsala sauce is great. (upon reheating, it's great)
- linguine pescatore - this is pretty good! (but bad on reheating. so split the plate, or man up and eat the whole thing). :)
ok dishes:
- pasta weesie - kinda greasy... and upon reheating, it just is super greasy...
Desserts are good. decently priced. and free dessert for the birthday guy/girl. And the waiters all come by for a nice birthday song in italian when it's time for the birthday wish!
pretty decent place, and never a let down. my favorite dish is the Mussels-hands down.
and warning - if u sit outside, make sure you put the plastic protector thing down in the evening time, the sprinklers come down, and the waiters don't automatically do it for you, and u may get wet!
We've been to this location before. Always had a good experience. Never really thought about writing a review until now.
It was surprising to go on a Saturday night and see the place so empty. It was a bit early (6:30ish) - which was great because it was also happy hour.
Our server was very pleasant and attentive. I ordered spaghetti and couldn't decide between meat sauce, meatballs and sausage...so he brought me all three! I have enough food for three meals.
If you are looking for good Italian at reasonable prices, this is the place.
First time I was there I had a really terrible experience with service and after a year of not visiting, I tried it again. I was there a couple of times more since my first bad experience and the food was pretty good. So, I decided to invite some coworkers for dinner and I was totally embarrassed with the food and the service. I kept trying to get the server to understand that the food had way too much salt, enough to make you sick. She didn't suggest something else, she just took the plate away. Then, I ordered something else to make up for the salty plate and brought me something that tasted just as bad, it was overly spicy. I don't know what was wrong with the kitchen, maybe because it was late and the chef was probably gone... Who knows! Maybe I should've been there at a better time, but then again, they aren't open for lunch. Anyhow, I don't think I'll take my chances again, I'm done with this restaurant.
During our recent visit to Ft. Lauderdale, we had dinner at this place. Now I had eaten at a Carrabba's before in Atlanta but wanted to take my wife there since she had not been there before. This place is right on the University Drive and very easy to find.
The place was packed when we got there but we got seated quite quickly. The seats we got were right next to bar and next table was having a kid's birthday party. I started feeling like asking for a change of seat. 2 other parties came and they also got seated on tables next to us. One of them complained about the nearby bar and birthday party and then suddenly manager came out and moved the birthday party some place else. Then our seats were not so bad. I felt they showed enough care once they got complaints.
Anyhow, let's move on to the food. We did not order any apps. My wife had a salad with pan fried egg plants, roasted papers etc. Not one of the usual suspects from the salad menu. It was excellent but she felt that the price they charged (10.95), the salad should have been lot bigger. She ended up eating little from my plate of Pasta. She did not care for the fried goat cheese on the salad though.
My pasta noodles were perfectly cooked, with nice basel, tomatos and grilled chicken which was tasty. It was one of those usual and comman pasta dishes but the taste was awsome. My son had cheese pizza from kids menu and he liked it. But it was little too small as well.
The food quality was excellent but portions were little too small. Then we asked our server about that and he said that particular salad is of a small portion other salads were bigger.
Overall the place is good and I recommend it.
guess im first, so here it goes, i really enjoyed the food there, i had veal marsala and my friend had chicken parmigiana, both were very flavorful and tasty, you can even see the cooks preparing your food ... portions are not small and the wine selection is enormous. Id prefer this place any day to places like olive garden, etc. Went on a weekend night and had to wait forever outside, hence the 1 star deduction for no waiting area and a bit slower service. But overall the food makes it complete.
