The lady bartender and "artist" was wonderful. She was really accommodating. She made all the yummy pizzas for my starving family (everything else was closed for the night at St. Michaels). We tried the pepproni, plain cheese and the supreme. All good. Even the leftovers were good the next morning.
The bartender drew lovely pictures on each pizza box. How great is that! The locals were fun and entertaining to chat with! I felt like I was on the set of Cheers. The St Michaels beer on tap was an excellent quench thirster while I waited for my pizzas. I wish I could have stayed longer and mingled with the others at the bar.
This place is a small tavern, with a dining room on the side, Apparently they have pool tables upstairs, but we did not venture beyond the bar.
WE stopped in for a pre-dinner drink on a weeknight in June. This was one of the few places that was doing any business that night, and we found out why.
We had one of the best bar experiences here in as long as we can remember, despite the fact that we were first timers...just a married couple who did not know anyone else when we went through the door.
Very friendly crowd, seemed like a mix of locals and whatever. Everyone was quick to smile or chat, something that is too often missing in bars with strong local flavor.
Excellent bartender who knew how to make everyone feel right at home.
Great jukebox, favoring music that is pleasing to baby boomers.
Reasonable prices, and you can eat at the bar.
We will go back often.

Carpenter Street is another St. Michaels, and Eastern Shore, icon. At least for me, this is one of the places I think of first and go to first when i swing through the area. The food has always been as great as the service.
I'm partial to breakfast and Sunday brunch there. They know how to cook scrapple to perfection, make a perfect pancake and serve cream-chipped-beef on toast!
