Review from Corinthia C.
Fort Collins, CO
Good selection of materials, helpful librarians, and a very nice building/reading room. You can't check anything out, but there is a copier for $.10/page. I found what I was looking for fairly quickly, but I can imagine spending an afternoon researching if need be.
The collections are fairly well organized. The acid is eating up some of the old news articles and book pages, though. Things could be a little better preserved, but they probably don't have the funding for it, like most libraries. -

Wild Oats and Whole Foods merger: Bad thing
Carnegie Branch Library for Local History and Boulder Public Library merger: Excellent thing
Don't come here looking to check out a book, though. The Carnegie Branch of the BPL houses historic materials, like newspapers, photographs, old documents.
If you're a history buff, or just someone in love with Front Range, you could spend a happy day or two here going through the old photos. It's educational and fun, and it's a great community resource that will survive long after all of us have passed.
