Review from Jason Q.
San Diego, CA
We have lived her almost a month and I will update this review throughout the 9 months we'll live here. Read my review on Mission Trails to find out why I won't re-sign with Bre Properties (the owners of the complex and plenty more).
We have the "Del Mar" 1bd/1ba, first floor. Let me tell you why we LOVE this place.
Attached garage for first floor units. 2nd floor has vaulted ceilings, but the attached part is too awesome to pass up! The garage is also much larger than any other complex I've ever lived in or seen. Several friends have visited and are completely jealous of it. You actually have enough room to open both doors once inside. However, if you have a tall truck, good luck. The mechanism is actually really low, like 7ft max. But, I have a BMW M3 and my girlfriend has a Mazda3, both fit perfectly. I even have room to store stuff up front in cabinets (that I built, do not come with garage). It is pretty loud when you open/close it though.
Parking spaces are big. Not huge, but when you live in 9 different apartment complexes in just a few years (I move cities a lot), these are the BEST. It is 'scarce' but due to the amount of people that use their garage as storage, fitness centers and mancaves. Drive through on a weekend/evening and you'll see what I mean. Clearly cannot fit a car, but obviously the leasing office doesn't enforce that (although they will tell you that when you sign and even when we were viewing the apartment, the leasing lady said nothing about a guy who had a mancave in his garage.)
Trash/Recyclables, there needs to be way more. We always dump right after they pick up or else it overflows. It's also amazing how many people don't just toss their recyclables in the recycle dumpster. I sort through it sometimes, people are such jerks.
Washer/Dryer in unit and they are big. I haven't had ones this big since I rented a house in Sacramento (for less than I pay rent down here!) and bought my own.
I don't like the stove top, it gets dirty and doesn't clean off very well. I hate induction cook tops, but whatever, better than the old crap we had previously. We cook everyday, so it sucks, but whatever.
I know a guy said the amenities were great, but I'd disagree. The gym is super small and is always filled with stay at home moms. I think there are 3 pools, but they are the size of big bathtubs, lol. I don't ever see myself at the pool. They aren't located where enough sun hits them either, so they will always be freezing.
Dogs aren't allowed, but I've seen several of them. I don't care, I have a dog that I wish could live with us. That's 1 of the reasons we're moving. I miss my pup, San Diego must hate dogs, it's so hard to find a place that will take dogs that are bigger than Chihuahuas.
We had an ant problem, but they sprayed a few days ago and nothing since. I will keep you updated on that!
Shower/bath is wide, but the fan sucks. We leave the door open for showers to vent the steam. It's also pretty small, but not the worst I've had, so no real complaints...this is an apartment.
Patio on the first floor is awesome. It's so big, it makes it worth it for the small living room.
Overall, we love this apartment. The upstairs neighbor plays loud music and I've put in my first complaint. We'll see how they handle it. If it's like their garage policy, they probably won't do much.
Oh, and spiders are ridiculous. I mean, it's not a zoo in here, but we see 1 every other day, it's freaky.
The worst thing about this place though is the location of the leasing office. It's located at the sister community Carmel Landing. It's so irritating to have to go there to drop off rent. We did just sign up for online payments though. If you don't have fun walking.
Also, for everyone that wants to complain. The location is what you pay for. We walk to Sprouts, Trader Joes, Ralphs, the movies, Marshalls, Ross, Barnes and Nobel, Starbucks, Orange Julius, Jamba Juice and any fast food place you want! We are Chipotle people, I'm always at Sears or Home Depot and coming from Sacramento, I am SO DAMN EXCITED there is a Habit Burger just down the street. I love this location and this apartment, I just don't like Bre!! -
Review from Cynthia C.
San Marcos, CA
Okay Apartment Rating was right!!!
We are MOVING!!! & CANT WAIT TO LEAVE THIS PLACE!!
We cant stand our neighbor who likes to get drunk, have fights in his unit AND in the road outside our window at 12am-3am, spill beer & puke on our patio and has such reckless parties that it causes water damage to his and our unit!!!!
This place was great the 1st year but our 2nd year has been PURE HELL!! We've called the office, the security patrol and the cops and nothing has changed. For all the complaints and damage he and his idiot friends caused, he should have been evicted. But I guess all that matters is that they are getting $$ from him.
Oh...and have fun paying the "shared" water bill. The ways they figure out your water bill is by splitting the total water usage by the # of units/tenants in your section. Our water bill is $85/month!!!! even though we are VERY conservative, our building tenants are water hogs!
With the increase of foreclosures, the community has now been over taken by rude, ghetto, or children infested families. Seriously every day I have to make sure I don't run over the NUMEROUS kids using the parking lot and roads as their play grounds as their parents DON'T watch them.
Last weekend the neighbor AGAIN upstairs was drunk and rowdy, We left a message and called the office and they didnt call us back or do anything. We are out of here in 2 weeks so they dont care about well being or happiness...not like they did before anyways.
Oh and have fun with the black mold problem in your bathroom. The bathrooms are built with NO ventilation. The "fan" in the bathroom just recycles the same air and goes nowhere but back into the space. We shower with the door open, windows open and keep it open at ALL times and we STILL get MOLD!!! I just finished bleaching the walls and tub.
Yes this place looks nice, is convenient, and is in a nice neighborhood, but just wait. They will trap you like Singing Sirens!1 Previous Review: Show all »

Review from Michael L.
Brentwood, TN
Been living here for a few months. So far, so good.
+Parking. Plenty of it. Odd considering what a pain in the ass it is at their Carmel Landing property.
+Vaulted Ceilings.
+Stainless appliances
+3 pools
+Gated
+walking distance to lots of restaurants, some shopping, and a Ralphs.
+Easy freeway access
+Cool people in the office. Thusfar, they've addressed every issue I've brought.
+Views are good as long as you are on the north side of the property.
+garage
+W/D in unit.
-/+Pool is cold as a motherfucker. Even on a blazing 100+ degree day, it'll make your nuts run up inside ya like a scared turtle.
-A little slow with the maintenance requests. Dont expect em to come within 24hrs even if you choose the 24hr option on the website.
-Ants can be an issue. Just because you're a clean person, doesn't mean the person below you is.
So far, so good though. Much better than Carmel Landing was. Definitely worth a few extra bones.
