I can't believe the work this fine organization does! When we drop off donations, they are always so appreciative. Every month we bring food items, toiletries and clothing. The toiletries threw me off a bit until the staff explained that the LInk card cannot be used for these items.

Now more then ever, food pantries like this one need help. See what you can do.  :)

    I love this place.

They take donations! Donations of almost anything (with limitations, at one point in time, they were given 50 lbs of table salt). They take your hotel shampoo's, your hotel soaps, food, clothing, you name it. I just dropped off a ton of dishes last weekend. They prefer that you conduct donations at @ 10 am- so you do not get in the way of passing out goods- (but I think they will take them anytime- they are NOT the post office-and they DO NOT have the attitude!)

Then- they turn it around and give it to the needy in our community. HOW AWESOME is that??

On the weekends, there is a line out the door. Anyone who needs help is welcome. You often see quite a few new immigrants- since Rdgewater is both a perfect blending  and entry point for our country. Young- elderly- Care for Real does not judge!

When I was teaching- I came to the other location to pick up clothes for some of my students. They were fantastic. Thanks for being here- and helping out our community!!!

This place used to be near me on Broadway and Catalpa - this is the new location. A great place to drop off used clothes, toys or books - they will distribute them to the less fortunate among us. And who doesn't want to spread a little goodness?

I am so grateful for this place.  Without Care for Real I would not be able to have Christmas dinner or food for the next month. The people there are so kind. The people who donate...I thank you so much. Having food while being unemployed and to know that absolute strangers gave it to me gives me faith in the human race. I cannot thank everyone enough. Thank you all. Thank you. Thank you and Thank you. I am fortunate.
When I am on my feet I plan on volunteering...currently disabled, so the food means all that much more. May you all have a beautiful year.

These guys are great.. Basically, here's how it works. They're only open a few days a week, and close at noon. So it's best to head in on a weekday, earlier the better. You fill out some paperwork, not more than a sheet and show ID. Very hands-off and non-judgmental people working there. There are some policies.. You can go once a week and pick up very good bread- Whole Foods and Domonick's donates baked goods, along with fresh fruits and vegetables. It's a good idea to freeze what you can. And once a month, you can get 'pantry'. That's canned goods, dairy, meat, too. They give as much as they can, with more around holidays with big food drives, less when donations aren't as much. The people there are great- I can't say that enough. I've been in some dire times as of late, and this is one of those things that helps me make it- It's great. You can always count on some good, healthful food, and even books or clothes if needed. I hope I don't need to say anything about thanking them and considering volunteering your time if you can- If you're unemployed, it'll do you a world of good to get out and do something meaningful. Also, just be grateful for what you get- they don't have a choice in what they get to give you. In any and all cases, I've always been treated with respect and care. These guys are amazing, enough said.
