11495 Popes Creek RdThe food: 2(.5) stars.
The setting: +1 star.
I ate lunch and dinner at Captain Billy's simply because I enjoyed the riverfront setting. Once upon a time, I went boating on a daily basis and frequently dined at waterfront restaurants. Well, Cap'n Billy's brought that back and it made me happy.
The food isn't all fried, as was earlier mentioned in a review. I didn't eat a single fried thing and left quite full. That said, just like McDonald's vs Something Decent, it will cost more to eat non-fried fishies, crabies, etc. However, it's worth it if you're not a lard-hound.
Also, they have a bar. I didn't know that going in, but was happy to find out that was the case. That's definitely good if you're a buzz-hound. (Yeah, that's was a bad attempt at a play on my earlier words.)
A true Southern Maryland style crab house on the banks of Pope's Creek. Call ahead to make sure they have the all-you-can-eat crab and go for it with a pitcher of PBR.
I had a late lunch here. On the downside, be forewarned that the service was slow and most of the food is fried (so call your cardiologist before going). On the upside, the view is very pretty (you are sitting on the Potomac), and the servers were very nice. But being from the Deep South and knowing that a good meal has to have some variety to it, fried seafood and french fries just doesn't cut it.
