This is the BEST dinner spot in the area, hands down! They KNOW what they're doing here!! The menu is packed with delicious Italian dishes, there's something for EVERYONE, whether you're a meat lover, vegetarian, or vegan, there's something here for you....and I guarantee it's gonna be AMAZING!

At first when I heard the name "bar & grill"..I thought it was gonna be a sports bar with a bunch of fried fast food items & some sandwiches...I was TOTALLY WRONG! This place is like 5 star dining with a casual, laid back feel. I ALWAYS make sure I get an order of Bruschetta (without cheese) which is always popping with flavor!! They always have salmon, or other kinds of fish on the menu, the usual Italian dishes such as Chicken Parmesan...but they also have GREAT specials that change quite frequently. Last time I went, I had the stuffed salmon, which had crab, shrimp, spinach, and some other stuff mixed in, and I had them hold off on the lemon butter sauce, but the entire thing was AMAZING, and the portion sizes are quite generous, and nobody we've taken there has ever left hungry, or unsatisfied!

The customer service & wait staff are also top notch, they're extremely attentive, but not "hovery" or invasive...they can tell you all of the ingredients in all of the dishes (if you have food allergies or special preferences), and will do their best to omit ingredients if possible.

This place is a MUST TRY if you're in the area!!

P.S. For dessert, if you can manage...get the chocolate lava cake =)

    RUDE!

First off let me tell you the food is NEVER hot. I come to Caps casually and it's usually for events such as Elvis. Last night is the LAST time anyone will see me and my business that i bring to caps.

Last night was a big event for my beloved friend, the turn out was amazing. Lots of family and friends. I came with three other people and got sat in the back of the room next to the bar. My seat was far from the front, but Elvis worked the room, so no complaints there. First off, you pay 35$ to sit at an extremely small table with limited or no walkways for servers or people! My server (male, 25-35age,short black hair, hispanic or mixed, big smile, clean shaved) was really nice, hes the one who always has a smile on his face, we always have him and hes amazing. he brought my table bread, and let us open up separate tabs. The bartender behind the bar was a female later 20's perhaps and she made good drinks, not friendly, only socialized with coworkers and threw our shots and drinks on the counter and would say "HERE".

After bread with butter, the salad came. Or maybe i should say the lettuce came. I had ONE crouton in my lettuce and glanced at the person next to me and noticed they had a HANDFUL. Maybe Caps should be look into taking the $ that i PAID for and getting CROUTONS. ( CAPS MANAGEMENT- croutons are the small, usually squared bread crumb). I ate two bites and threw it on the empty table next to me.

ON to the MAIN COURSE! Chicken was served which seems to be the cheapest route for Caps when Elvis is performing. I had a boneless chicken with some sort of glaze on top. Last time i saw Elvis i had chicken also but i had to use a butter knife to fend the bones off with, so grant  it the boneless chicken last night got me happy. When i went to bite into it the chicken was barely warm, and my rice was straight cold. The only way i could get this food down was the seven&seven in my hand.

This event was supposedly sold out so i was expecting all the seats in the room to filled with a body, but shockingly noticed the table on my right was a table of four that was empty, and to my left was a table of six but 3 people came that was suppose to be sitting in the back sat there.

Elvis time!! Yippee! I love James Clark, he's the best if you want a good time. He came performed some songs, dedicated his whole performance and night to my beloved friend. He's a really nice man! During the show this server ( FEMALE, DARK BROWN HAIR PULLED BACK CURLY, HEAVY SIDE, LATE 20's, WHITE) came to the table NEXT us and US and shhhhhhh'ed us. I said politely, "what?" and she said SHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH.
I was ready to take her outside and beat her senseless. She was an ignorant, rude person.  I brushed this off and tried to enjoy my man Elvis. People next to us couldn't believe she did that and continued to joke about the ignorant server all night. My friends DD came a little early so he told her to just come upstairs and wait for one or two songs and then they were leaving and the manager came (Elaine) and busted her for sitting at the empty table to my right. Elaine decided to tell her to take her Starbucks and to go downstairs and that she was disrespectful for watching the show that she didn't pay for. Understandably it's reasonable for Elaine to not want someone sitting and free loading around upstairs, but she sure didn't have to be a stuck up rude PERSON!  The DD tried to buy a ticket but was told it was "sold out". REALLY? Because  there's at least 15 empty seats in the room. Thanks you Elaine for being an idiot.

After that incident half of my table left because of Elaine. They paid they're tab and left for the night. As i was enjoying Elvis the SAME ANNOYING server chick came back lounged over me (touched my shoulder and neck) and grabbed the card with out table name on it and threw it back on the table. I was furious. DON'T TOUCH ME, SICKO!

On the brighter note the male bartender downstairs was nice and friendly. He makes good drinks and told us what drinks were good in the summer and what liquor was in it. Thumbs up for him.

Sadly i will not be seeing Elvis (James Clark) for quite awhile. Not till he does work at fairs over summer or anything else besides CAPS. Caps will NEVER see me, my family or friends in that joint ever again. The managements rude, servers touch you and shh you.

DO NOT GO TO CAPS, GO TO SWEENEY'S DOWN THE STREET OR JUST STAY AWAY FROM THE AWAY!

Came here for lunch one time and I found it to be pretty good and certainly better than expected.  We were promptly greeted and decided to sit out in the patio area.

Our server was a great guy who had a cool old school, OG touch to him.  Let's just say that I wouldn't want to get into an argument with the guy.  All kidding aside, it's refreshing to see a server who isn't just a nondescript youngster these days.  Speaking of youngsters, we did get to chat it up quite a bit with one of the busboys; nice guy but a little overeager in sharing his festive weekends!  He certainly provided a few laughs though.

The food: the bread gratis was good, so was their calamari appetizer.  I had their greek lasagna special, it was quite flavorful and I'd certainly have no qualms in ordering it again.  Prices weren't bad either.

I left satisfied and look forward to the next pitstop.

Me and Hubby had the honor of candlelight dinner for 2 on Sunday evening last weekend and enjoyed prime rib for 2 which included bottle of merlot wine salad soup for a unbeatable price $38 total. So yummy! Going back this Sunday with parents ;-) We absolutely loved the service our waiter ERIC was excellent and the best ever. Glad we don't have to drive to SF or Walnut Creek for fine dining!

My bf's family took me to Cap's tonight. You know it's going to be good when trying to figure out what to do for dinner, the entire group goes, "yeah.. Cap's... oh man, yeah."

Four of us went and had an early dinner. The restaurant is a converted hotel and the decor is gorgeous. The food was great!
They have an extensive menu from pizza, pasta and classic Italian dishes to steaks, salads and hearty clam chowder. I almost went for the Friday night special "Lamb Shanks over Polenta," but I decided to go with a calzone.

The calzone is the best deal on the menu, for sure.  The Piccante Calzone with chicken, pepperoni, mushrooms, and spicy tomato sauce was killer. And it was only $13. Enough for dinner and lunch the next day...without having clam chowder or a salad, I only ate half and was stuffed.
My in-laws both usually get a pizza and take half home.  If you're thinking about a pizza, try the salami. It is some tasty tasty salami.

Not sure how much the bill came to, but if you happen to be visiting the downtown Brentwood area, stop into Cap's.

Caps is that not so hidden gem in my opinion in downtown Brentwood.
First off, We have had only the best of service from the waitstaff. Definitely old school and very polite and professional. They have been around a long time and it shows in a positive way.
I recently had the Pastrami sandwich. Looking at it one would wonder if there was something missing. But, upon tasting the simple Pastrami on fresh rye, it was sublime. They make the pastrami themselves and the flavor needed nothing else. Not mustard, nothing.
The Calzone is a hearty serving that has been a good bet.
Its certainly not cheap by any means and is usually quite busy, lunch or dinner but with all the competition out there, and all the construction going on, to stay as busy as they are is a testimony in itself.

We went cherry picking in Brentwood and it was too hot to for outdoor eating. This place was a great find -- clean, cozy, and good air-conditioning. Oh yeah...the food was quite good.

I had angel hair pasta with a pomodoro sauce; the sauce was delicately seasoned and quite delicious. A bonus was a free little spinach pie appetizer.

The service was good. What can I say...if we happen to be back in Brentwood, we'll come by again.

Well ... we're new to both Brentwood as well as California and Cap's is one of the best places around Brentwood for a nice Sat night dinner.  The atmosphere and service is awesome and the food was fantastic.

It was also very resonantly priced to boot!  A definite re-visit!

I'm definately a fan of Cap's. I havnt had a bad meal or experience there.

Pros: Great food, friendly waiters and staff, warm environment, banana fosters

Cons: WAY TOO MUCH fat on their prime ribs. There must have been at least 4 ounces of fat on mine and also my wifes steak.

I would give them five stars if it werent for that. The food was prepared perfect and tasted superb. The banana fosters is just a perfect desert and they make it right at your table.

Dined here twice in the last couple of weeks. First time I had the Fettucchini Alfredo which was really good.

Second time I had the Chicken Piccata sauteed with lemon butter and caper sauce with pasta and fresh vegetables. It also came with a side salad for $17.95. I didn't really dig the ranch, tasted like that shit was made with miracle whip...YUCK! But other than that, the food was good both times.

On my last visit the table next to us ordered Banana Fosters for dessert. Mmmmmmm....it looked so yummy! They come out with all the ingredients on a rolling cart and prepare it right in front of you!  Such a nice little presentation, I will definitely get one on my next visit!!

I was on the hunt for a good place to have Sunday brunch with my husband for our anniversary and I read the positive reviews of Cap's... they were spot on! The Sunday brunch buffet is, in a word, DELICIOUS. The price was reasonable ($23.95) for the amount of wonderful food you get - and the mimosas kept on coming!

They had pastries (I can never resist a good cream puff, and they did not disappoint), cakes, fruit, smoked salmon, breakfast foods such as scrambled eggs, bacon and sausage, a delicious tortellini in cream sauce, chicken chardonnay, a FULL display of every kind of seafood you can imagine (on ice), and a prime rib carved to your desire. I'm sure I forgot a few things but that's the gist of it. The service was exceptional and the food a welcome change from chain restaurants and greasy spoons.

Highly recommended for a special occasion or any occasion! The tables are on the small side, so I'd keep it at a group of 4 or less.

I will be back for Sunday brunch and to try other meals - the dinner menu looked very tempting as well. :)

I still remember when Cap's opened up.  It was what I, at the time, would consider a really fancy restaurant.  Especially for Brentwood.

I used to come on dates here.  I have attended a wedding on the second floor.  They have a great event space complete with dance floor.

I also have attended the comedy shows here.  Small town stuff, with small room comedians.  Its good for this town because most people don't want to drive all the way out to SF. to see a comedy show.

My husband and I came back out recently for a rare trip to have lunch.

Their drink menu is definitely up to par with my standards.  We started with the Delta Sunrise.  A very fresh and light drink.  It has a great name too.

My husband got the Cap's All American Burger.  I didn't have a bite, because I was so consumed with my own food.

I got the Pomodoro with Seafood.  Oh my goodness was it good!  The fish was so fresh.  There was a piece of Salmon, some type of White Fish, Clams, Prawns and one Scallop.

The sauce was so light and flavorful.  All of the the ingredients were perfectly balanced.  You could take one bite of one type of seafood then the next bite was a totally new exciting flavor.

The second drink we had was the Key Lime Pie Martini.  It came recommended by the waiter, but it wasn't my favorite.  I was expecting a more of a tartness from the Lime side, but it was very sweet.  Almost to sweet.

Our waiter was so great, he asked if we wanted dessert or were we sticking with the liquid dessert.  Of course its liquid dessert.

Our last drink was the Chocolate Banana Martini.  My most favorite.  Its rare to find a banana cocktail, so I had to jump on the opportunity to try it.  It was rich with chocolate flavor and the half and half gave it the boost it needed.  The banana was not overpowering at all.

There were other cocktails on the menu, like the White Chocolate Martini, that I didn't get to try.

We were to full to keep going.  I was in a food coma and adding drinks on top of that just wasn't working.

Our lunch was very enjoyable and I am still going to keep this one at the top of my list.

I've actually been here a couple of times but was lured back all thanks to the Restaurant Tour hubby and I partook in.

On the menu this time around was a small plate of pasta in a meat bolognese sauce.  True to anything I've experienced here, the pasta was full of flavor and of course the setting (outside on the patio) was very nice.

On point once again was the friendly staff although we were just there to get a "taste" of their offerings.  Hubby and I noticed a sign on the patio announcing their fabulous brunch buffet, being the brunch mavens that we are, we'll be back and perhaps some close friends? *clearing throat*

We went here fir a date night. I loved the food!  My boyfriend got the Escobar sea bass and it was delicious.  I got the stuffed salmon and i was in heaven.  It has been a long time since I found good salmon.  Bread could be better, but I I liked the atmosphere.  Oh and our waiter rocked!!!

However, the next dat the escobar sea bass really messed up my boyfriend's stomach.

My honey took me here for appetizers and cocktails on our way home from the Taste of Lodi festival.

I am automatically a fan of any business that uses a liberal amount of fresh garlic.  After we were seated they brought us bread and butter AND fresh garlic.

We ordered three appetizers to share:
    - Crab cakes: crispy and flavorful
    - Crab and shrimp stuffed mushrooms: These were recommended by the waiter and I thought they were just okay. They tasted good but the texture was a bit mushy.  I think they needed some crispy bread crumbs or something on top.
    - Fried mozzarella: SO GOOD.  Perfectly crispy triangles of delicious cheese laying in a pool of marinara sauce.

This is a charming, local restaurant and I look forward to coming back for dinner or possibly their Sunday brunch.  Can you get fried mozzarella during brunch?

    Where do I begin...

Well, I have ate here probably over 50 times and my parents had a point in time where they would come here once a week.

I have tried almost every special on board, and most of the different items on the menus. I have came here for all sorts of events; prom, comedy show, the day I left for college, the week I graduated college, 21st birthday dinner with the family, bringing the boyfriend home to meet the parents, and so on.

By this time we are all on first name basis with the staff and I was pleasantly surprised to find out that their relatives in San Francisco own one of my favorite dive bars Tradr' Sams. So wait, you mean to tell me the same family that makes the best banana fosters in the world also is responsible for the scorpion bowl? Yes.

    My typical meal is
    Calamari or Shrimp Scampi
    Stuffed Seafood Salmon
    Banana Fosters

    Must get banana fosters, MUST.

Also the drinks are stiff, with the exception of the Mahitos which were a bit to frilly.

    Yum.

Cap's is the best restaurant that I've been to in Brentwood. That might sound like faint praise, but Cap's is truly head and shoulders above its peers. It's the one place in Brentwood to which I wouldn't hesitate to bring an out of town guest.

Cap's is located in a stalwart old building that I'm pretty sure was once a bank. Inside, the decór is classic Americana with all the trappings of 1940s luxury. Don a fedora and grab a stool at the end of the bar and you definitely won't look out of place.

I'll admit that I have a soft spot for restaurants that can serve a good steak and in that respect Cap's is right on target. Their delicious mashed potatoes sweeten the deal. Add to that a glass of Cabernet Sauvignon and revel in an indulgently delicious meal that will persist in your memory for quite a while. Their desserts and appetizers are also very good but the challenge becomes making room for it all. I recommend multiple visits to experience the breadth of what they have to offer. Come once for their expertly mixed cocktails and and elegantly crafted appetizers, return for a fancy dinner, and visit once more for decadent desserts and more cocktails.

Where Cap's shines brightest is the service. From the minute you walk in the door, the staff makes it their duty to see that you have a pleasant time while you are there. They are attentive, helpful and kind. They are what makes Cap's the best restaurant in Brentwood.

If you are planning an event, Cap's has space upstairs suitable for large groups. I've been to two company parties at Cap's and both were smashing successes.

How I gauge whether or not I will consider ordering seafood from a restaurant:

If my overly-sensitive sniffer detects even the slightest hint of the "fishy", it's a no go.

We arrived pretty late on a Wednesday night.  Working, commuting & a good workout had pushed us towards the early side of 10 p.m.  I'm not sure what event had just ended but the entrance to Caps was adorned with a bunch of well dressed, beautiful ladies.

We went in the front door and stood at the empty "please wait to be seated" area for a few minutes.  I began to worry that we may be rushed through our meal in order to close the place down.  A friendly man in a very starched shirt appeared and asked us where we would like to sit.

As we walked through the bar area, I scanned around and chose a booth.  The ambiance in this place is soothing.  Older, well-maintained, architecture gives it a warm, welcoming charm.  I noticed, as I made my way down the railed, wooden ramp, that there were fresh bouquets of flowers on all the tables.  I smelled a hint of some type of cleaner (which I later found to be what they clean the glass, over the linens, on the table with) but no trace of fish.

Now, I love a good calamari but there's not much worse than a bad calamari.  I rolled the dice and ordered the Calamari Steak in a lemon-butter sauce with capers. My husband ordered the Chicken Saltimbocca.  Each table is also adorned with a bottle of their house Cabernet Sauv.  If you happen to order it, they open that bottle right there on the spot.  I found that to be a little odd.  The wine itself was pretty good; it was just served a little warm for my taste.

They put together a nice dinner salad.  The bread was lackluster but I've had worse.

The calamari was good.  I think I even did a fist pump.  I get excited when I find a place that I can get good seafood.  I was floored by how well the vegetables were prepared.  I could go back and just order a plate of those.  The portions are generous.

The husband's plate was where it got a little weird.  The chicken was served in a brown marsala wine sauce.  In and of itself, that was ok.  It was paired, however, with pasta & marinara sauce. Unless you have an interest in witnessing a battle of mismatched sauces, I wouldn't recommend it.

My fear of being rushed was superfluous.  We got into a pretty heavy conversation and suddenly realized it was past their closing time.  We never got the "please scoot" vibe.

My husband surprised me with a romantic pre-planned dinner for my birthday. When we walked in we were walked over to the corner booth which was ready with a chilled bottle of champagne..from then on the dinner was wonderful. They gave us just enough attention, but not too much. It was everything my husband had planned and more.
Tried the Sunday brunch for the first time. There was wide variety of food options, from delicious salads, breakfast entrees, meats, seafood and desserts. We enjoyed a long leisurely meal with mimosas and great coffee.
The only thing I would change is that the staff stands right by the steps that lead up to food area and the bar where the dessert is set. It feels as though they are watching what you are serving. Even though the staff is nice, it's rather uncomfortable.

I was very pleasantly surprised by Cap's.

It is definitely an old school, meat & potatoes kind of place.  So, don't go in thinking haute cuisine.  It's American style all the way and that's not necessarily a bad thing.

It was late and we were looking for a place to eat and decided to try Cap's w/o a reservation.  No problem.  Got seated at a nice large booth and not at one of the smaller tables for 2.

I had the oxtail and the GF had the halibut.  Both were cooked well and came with soup or salad, a small pasta and lots of bread/butter.  We opted for the cherry's jubileee (because the table of 6 next to us had bananas foster) and weren't disappointed with that either.  The preparation is a great show and the sweet cooked cherries over vanilla ice cream was great!

The staff from the maitre d/manager to the watier were all very friendly and helpful.  Definitely coming back when i'm in the mood for an all American meal.

In order to get to the restaurant eating area you do have to go through the bar.The bar which by the way is a good place to get a good stiff drink. Martini's anyone? If you need some bread to munch on, be aware it won't be complimentary. The food is decent typically in the Italian style of preparation. Sadly...most of what they whip up I can whip up at home.
The dinners can be pricey for what the food truly is.So pricey in fact ,that I have to wonder if the owner(s) think they are in San Francisco or in reality "the wanna be shi shi" downtown Brentwood.
I don't want to rate this one too negatively because truly...it's a great local hang out. You never know who you will run into here.Everyone is friendly...and again...the drinks are awesome.

Had dinner here before deciding if we wanted to have our wedding reception in their upstairs room. Dinner was great, the server was good, very attentive, food was so hot from kitchen had to wait to eat it, portions very generous. Great experience! Will be going back.

Had our wedding reception in upstairs room this February 2011. Elaine the banquet Manager was incredible. Very professional and helpful with all the details. She calmed me of any worries I might have. The day of our event was PERFECT! My husband is in the restaurant business, and I was too for a very long time. This place knows what to do and how to do it right. The food was hot, & delicious. The staff never left us to want anything. Elaine was there all night to make sure we were happy with everything. We were very impressed, as were our guests. To say they met our expectations would be an understatement. Thank you for such a wonderful experience. It was such a fun, memorable night! Good job!

Dined here on my birthday, the host staff is excellent, I was seated promptly per my reservation (a walk in before me had to wait 20 minutes). 5 stars.

Bread is hard, a sour dough variety from any super market, butter is served cold in little packages. 1 star.

Ordered crab cakes which were tasty.  But for the price the serving size was small. 4 stars.

Ordered glass of wine - 1st glass had too much cork so I sent it back.

2nd glass was spilled and I received a glass 1/4 full, had a refill and was charged for two glasses. Tasted nice, but since I was charged double, 2 stars.

Ordered lamb, and steak calamari - server lost our order.  Order arrives and the lamb is overcooked and the sauce tastes like liver. The calamari was tasteless. The rice is nice, but the veggies are the size of my fist - so instead of cutting them up and eating them they just sat on my plate. Food - 1 star.

Too disappointed to order dessert, but overall I enjoyed the surroundings and our waiter so my rating is 2 stars.

    Unfortunately I wont be back...

Cap's food has always been fresh, tasty with a dash of pizzazz.  I would recommend you to order your entree from the Specials menu, due to the freshness of the food. You can't go wrong with the fish, Kobe beef or steaks offered here at caps. However, the standout dish that draws me back every Friday is a bowl of Clam Chowder which is watering my pallet as I write about it.

Okay, I'm on a Brentwood roll after visiting Mom and Dad.

The drinks here are awesome. You better have something to eat or you are going to need a cab, and getting a cab out in Brentwood is a bitch, trust me, I know!

Odd place. Old style Italian and Steak house kind of menu and ambiance. Friendly service that is usually very good, gracious, and accommodating. Again, Mom and Dad are strict diet people--it's a lifestyle choice folks. The wait staff, and the kitchen, accommodate their requests without so much as batting an eye. As though "We will split the Primavera. Low Oil. Tomato and pesto instead of cream sauce. Extra Veggies. Less pasta" is the sort of nightmare they deal with daily.

While I never have had a bad meal here I will say this: the food is nothing super special. Old school, solid. I could cook like this at home but would not want to do the dishes.

3.5 stars rounded up to 4 for 2 reasons: No issue with our orders has ever been an issue, the food has been consistently good over several visits, the service has been consistently gracious over several visits. Not 4 stars for price. I feel just a tad pricey for what you get.

A bit on the pricey side for brentwood/antioch area.

They have a great deal on Sundays two prime rib dinner and bottle of house wine for $38.  They give you a good size cut and the prime rib is juicy and seasoned.  It comes with a plain baked potato with sour cream and butter on the side and steamed veggies.  I wish the potato came with bacon or chives.  Steamed veggies were good.

After Strizzi's dissed us and failed to seat us for almost 50 minutes due to locals with "reservations", we left, feeling dejected and unwanted. My SO thought of Cap's because 1) they serve Italian food, 2) it's located on the way to where we were headed, 3) he had good experiences with Cap's in the past, and 4) we were desperate. It was almost 8pm and we were deleriously hungry to the point that our anger at Strizzi's incompetent hostess was borderline irrational and the number of times we exclaimed "this is bullshit" on our way out was likely gratuitous.

ANYWAYS. Parking was easy to find, and upon entering the front door we were instantly greeted by the owner of the restaurant. He personally led us to a table and we were seated in seconds. AMAZING! Now this is service. Both the busboy and waiter greeted us within minutes and while the promptness of service tapered off as the meal wore on, the waitstaff was friendly. The owner of the restaurant even stopped by our table later on in the evening, when we had stopped eating to ask about our meals. He thought something was wrong with our food, when actually we were just too stuffed!

I ordered the stuffed pork chop filled with spinach and italian sausage that came with mashed potatoes and sauteed vegetables. My SO had the veal parmigiana, which came with pasta and sauteed vegetables. We started off with garden salads, which I was very happy to see consisted of fresh greens - no wilted lettuce here! It did contain canned beans, but I have nothing against canned beans (kidney and garbanzos). We polished off our salads and worked on the sourdough (which came with a little cup of minced garlic - yum!) when our waiter surprised us with a little appetizer on the house - tube pasta with bolognese meat sauce. It was very meaty and rich, and hearty - nothing spectacular, but if I were italian I'd say it's like my grandma used to make. A very nice gesture, which made the icky memory of shitty service at Strizzi's fade a little faster.

Our food came very quickly, and while it wasn't the best meal we ever had, it definitely wasn't the worst. My pork chop was huge and the meat was tender. The vegetables were plentiful and the mashed potatoes were a bit lumpy, but no biggie. My SO's veal was decent; it was definitely homestyle authentic Italian, not commercialized, over-drenched-in-sauce-and-sodium style Italian (see: Macaroni Grill, Olive Garden, etc.)

All in all I had a good time here. I loved the ambiance and the friendly staff. I felt welcome here, and like my business mattered. But one thing I have to point out - why are all the women here showing off so much cleav? I must have seen at least four pairs of huge knockers - some manipulated with push-up bras, others probably shaped with the help of those chicken cutlet things, and an unfortunately looking fake pair at the table next to us. Her older manfriend didn't seem to mind the twins bouncing up and down as she was sawing away at the veal on her plate...

My wife and I are buffet fanatics. When I realized that cap's here in brentwood had a champagne brunch on sundays we had to check it out.The service was good.If you bring your kids it's better to sit outside(more room). The prime rib, crab, lasagna, ceviche, and the smoke salmon were among the best I have eaten...(very good)The mimosa was very good(fresh o.j. and a good light champagne).I must leave the best for last. The dessert.Chocolate mouse, lemon tarts, cheese cake, carrot cake and an assortment of cream puffs and muffins.Forget the chinese buffet on sunday and come here.$23.99 for adults and $10.00 for kids under 10yrs...I am coming back again BECAUSE MESOHUNGRY......

Our favorite "date night" place.  Staff is friendly and the food is always up to our standards.   Pricey place, but well worth it for the occassional special event.  We love coming here on valentines day... it saves us a commute out to someplace like Walnut Creek, which means more time to sit and enjoy wine and each other's company (we have a little one so alone time is a rare treat). Keep up the good work!

OK...Cap's not so great. What would expect from reading all of these reviews? A good food experience, right? Not so much. My wife and I went here for Valentines Day. The decor and ambiance did not scream "FINE DINNING".
We were seated upstairs and the staff seemed very nice. The decor upstairs was TACKY balloons were placed at every table I thought we were at Chucky Cheese. The tables seemed to be as big as TV. trays. We did not have room for anything on our table after they brought out water and bread (Burnt Safeway French bread). After I saw that I knew this was going down hill.
They had a Valentine's Day menu. My wife ordered the crab cioppino and i ordered the prime rib.. WAIT they were out of prime rib. LOL give me a f**king break. So I ordered the NY steak. We also ordered Oyster as an appetizer.
The oyster's came out and I felt the night starting to turn. The Oyster looked fresh and very appetizing. But WAIT we had now small saucers for our appetizer, so i asked our waitress and she gave us salad plates. Which was fine. So the oysters were good.
Next came our salads or should i say our dressing with a side of lettuce. Not very appetizing. I guess people in Brentwood love their dressing.
So here comes the main course. I ordered my stake to be medium rare. So my steak came out and it was well done on one side and medium on the other. They offered to make me a new steak but my wife's food was already out and I wasn't going to wait. At this point I just wanted to pay and get out of there. I looked at my wife's crab cioppino and automatically, a confused look formed on my face and I looked up at my wife and to my amazement she had the same look. Where the heck is the crab. I asked our waitress were the crab was in the crab cioppino. She was looking at the cioppino and was trying to point out crab in the dish no crab to be found. She flagged down another waiter and the smart ass waiter said "It's the lazy man's cioppino" that was just in poor taste because the couple next to us ordered the cioppino with crab legs and claws in the dish not to mention the waitress brought out crab crackers. DUH!! Our waitress also had mentioned after the lazy man comment that they must have changed it. Oh really!!!
The food was definitly sub par.  I felt that I would have been able to prepair this meal at home for my wife and I and even a couple of friends for the price.   Needless to say after paying a $125.00 for our meals and I think a gracious tip, we will NEVER GO BACK TO Cap's.
When you go out to eat you look for an experience. Not to go home and YELP the hell out of this place.
    Peace Out.

Just a quick note, my family and I have become regulars here and the two princesses, have declared Cap's and Jimmy their favorite restaurant ever (Mc Donalds has become a far second), the youngest has even written a school essay on her experiences at Cap's.  My wife and I agree, Cap's is wonderfully warm, friendly, service oriented, and has great food.  Jimmy makes it even better by knowing his customers as people and not as numbers.  Jimmy knows who they are, what they do, their interests, families and always has something good to say, exceptional in today's world!
