Just went there for a mini-vacation with my boyfriend. It's one of the coolest places I've ever stayed in! We got a fantastic room overlooking the rest of the hotel and the beach with a balcony. The room also came with a full kitchen which is great if you want to cook something there instead of going out to eat for each meal.
What really took my breath away was the architecture of this place, it looks like it's out of a funky Italian village by the ocean. Mermaids on the arches, and the colors on the outsides vary so the balcony view is actually very pretty with the beach/hotel combo.
The bed was up kind of high so we slept with the curtains and balcony doors open so we listened to the waves all night and awoke to the ocean view from bed. Even though was separated into a living room and bedroom, the bedroom has windows that look into the living room.
Kind of weird, but cool. All in all the place just has a ton of character and plan to stay there from now on when I visit Capitola.

We stayed here on a weekend (for us anyway) getaway. We got the last room in the place and were able to negotiate the price down. We got one of the view rooms, the only way to go. It has a balcony, overlooking the rest of the hotel, but also the beach. Sunset cocktails on the veranda anyone? The bed area was elevated like a top bunk, so one has the ocean view form bed. Kitchen and bathroom showed a little age and wear but everything was clean and serviceable.There is a small parking lot, so get there early or you'll be parking in town. Steps form the beach,restaurants and liquor store. Stumbling distance on your way back. Not a luxury place but one of the only games in the beach part of town and luckily pretty nice.
