A couple of years ago I was doing pretty good and thought I had my shit straight and tried to buy a car from these jerks but that didn't happen. I was attracted to Kia because they have an insane 10 year / 100,000 mile warranty and that sounded pretty good. I went in with my boyfriend, looked at the cheapest model I could find with A/C but when the sales guy came out he refused to let me test drive it and kind of forced me into an Optima that I knew upfront I could not afford. The joker was obviously more interested in getting a big sell than my happiness. So - after sitting for a couple of hours in the dealership, going over financing, going back and forth with him regarding why I want a Rio and not an Optima, the jackass says he'll call me as soon as I was approved as he was sure I would be approved. So I wait and wait and finally, toward the end of Monday I give him a call to ask him what's up. Can't get a hold of the guy. Keep calling and calling for about two weeks before I get super pissed and get angry enough to where someone forces him to take my call. Turns out the financing was not approved for the Optima (which I DID NOT WANT IN THE FIRST PLACE) and he's been too busy to call me back and let me know that the financing for the car I knew I could not afford was not approved.
Seriously - these guys at Kia are asswipes. They are not worth your time and frustration. Go anywhere else.

Dealing with Capital Kia has been a learning experience I will never forget no matter how hard I want to. We bought our first Kia Spectra in 04 and got a really good deal on it. They called us back a year later and lured us in with the promise of payments "about" the same, a $2000 customer loyalty discount plus a $3000 rebate offer they were running on the 05 Optima. We found one we liked and then started playing the numbers game with them. Unfortunately they knew how desperate we were to get rid of the Spectra we had, it was the model that got the worst crash test ratings in years with the offset front impact crash test. I drive my 3 kids around town all day long and did not want that death trap any longer. 7 hours and 3 sales reps later we finally got the keys for our new car, minus the $2000 customer loyalty discount (that was last months offer) and payments of almost $100 more per month, no hard copy of the contract and the window sticker was removed from the car. We thought that was kind of funny until we finally got the hard copy of our contract and realized that we probably (cannot prove it because the sticker was missing) paid about $400 over invoice on the car. Lesson learned and I thought I was done with them. I will never buy another car from them. Turns out my car needed warranty work on it so I took it in this week, the door lock mechanism on the driver door failed to unlock that door. No biggie, I made an appointment and took the car to Chris on Tuesday. It needed an oil change & I had just gotten a coupon from them in the mail so I had them do that too. I finally got my car back yesterday, there were 6 miles driven by them on the car after the oil was changed and they idled 1/4 tank of gas out of my car. I didn't even have enough gas to get home from work that day and it had over 1/4 tank on Tuesday.when I left it with them. I called them on my way to work and of course Chris wasn't available to talk to me., but the guy who answered the phone said while he couldn't say for sure because he didn't work on my car that they have to road test cars after an oil change to make sure the filter is not leaking. I have been driving for over 30 years, I know how to change the oil myself and have taken all my new cars that I have bought in the last 10 years to various neighborhood oil change shops, and no one "road tests" the car to see if the filter is leaking, you let it idle and keep an eye on it so that if it is leaking you don't run the oil out and ruin the motor. And you don't need to idle it long enough to run out 3-4 gallons of gas either. We have called and left many messages, no one knows whats going on and the people that actually worked on the car are "not available" to talk. I even filled out a complaint at Kia.com web site, at least they called me back within 24 hours & tried to call the dealership for me, they got the same run around.

If I talk, listen to me. That's all I ask. It is, unfortunately, one of the things the salesman at Kia seem patently incapable of doing.
When we decided to purchase another car, we made the rounds of all car dealerships for each brand in trying to narrow down our choices. The third or fourth stop on the rounds was this Kia dealership, and we were totally unprepared for the onslaught (as we had been treated with respect, kindness, and had been listened to everywhere else we went).
We began looking at cars and mnivans when we were waylaid by Salesman #1. We told him that we hadn't decided what kind of vehicle to buy and were looking at all the 2008 offerings from all the car companies and were definitely not buying today. At every other dealership the "definitely not buying today" statement got us cards, answers, and for the most point, left alone, which is what we wanted.
Apparently, stating this at Capital Kia is like waiving a red flag in front of a bull.
Salesman #1 began pressing us on the sales and discounts and this that and the other, though it was continuous pressure it was low pressure. He showed us some models, discussed what we were looking for, but interspersed everything with the followup on how much we would save if we drove off with one today. I realized he was a salesman, and since it was just annoying, I let it pass, as did my husband.
He talked to us for about 5 minutes and then we were passed off to Salesman #2 who "knew more" about the vehicle we were looking at. It took us about 60 seconds to realize we had not bitten the hook fast enough so they transferred us to a higher pressure salesman who would work on us harder - and he did. The "offer" of deals became slightly more confrontational.
"You don't need to look at any other cars, we have the best deals."
"If you walk out without taking this car, you'll regret the deal you lost."
"I can put you in it, right now, and you'll never regret it - come on, just take it for a spin."
We stated, repeatedly, we were not buying today and we did not want to test drive any cars. About 5 minutes of that, and we were passed up to the third salesman, who attempted to bully and chastise us into taking a test drive and buying a car as if we were children who didn't know any better.
"You want to take this test drive - let me have them get the car ready for it." We answer no, as he is yelling to Salesman #1 to get it ready for the test drive. "Oh, yes, you do want to test drive it. It sells itself. " He ushered us as we refused the test drive to a waiting table while we continued protesting, letting us know he was just going to get the paperwork because he just knew we were buying that car.
Unfortunately for him, that minute he took to get the paperwork was enough for my husband and I to stare at each other, comprehend we were being bullied, and get up to walk out in disgust.
On the way out, #3, and #1 attempted to step in front of us to ask us where we were going. Every time we stated that we didn't want a test drive, we were just gathering information, they continued to high pressure argue with us. When we were near the door, #2 joined in. It got to the point that we simply stopped talking and being polite, and walked around them silently as they continued calling after us.
Never in my life had I been so utterly disgusted by someplace. Not only will I never go back there, I will avoid Kias themselves like the plague.

I've actually bought two cars from Capital Kia. The one off I35 and St. Johns and the one by Anderson Mill. Do they know what they're doing ? Yep. Are they aggressive ? Hell yes !! But no one forced me to sign and buy each car. I could've gotten up and left at any time. I bought a new Kia Spectra and a preowned 2007 Nissian Titan. No one made my husband and I do anything.
Pamela
First of all let me make something clear. I'm an asshole - the facts are all there, have been all of my life. I try to control it, but deep down I have to live with the fact that I am an asshole.
I am also an asshole that was born to haggle over cars. I learned from my dad, who once made a ford salesman cry right in front of me.
In my salesman days, I would go to used car lots and haggle - just for practice. Every trick a salesman has, I know how to do it better.
Now that I've mellowed out a bit, I don't enjoy haggling like I used to. I'd rather be more analytical about it.
Well a short visit to capital kia brought my inner asshole bubbling to the surface like Texas Tea!
First of all the place is a dump. It is dirty, it smells bad, the air wasn't really working. You know how in grade school the underside of the desk always had gobs of gum stuck to it. Well here they put the gum right on top of the desk where you can see it.
I wanted to test drive a Kia Spectra and a Rio. A salesman, Chris - who was a nice enough fellow got me in a Spectra and we tooled around Research. That was fine. I liked the car, but I told him I wasn't buying today. I just came out to drive the car so I could report back to my wife about it.
They advertise a $7900 brand new Spectra in the paper. It is of course a joke. The one they have on the lot has no air conditioning and is all white. It should be illegal in Texas to sell a car with no air. Chris said, "oh you don't want that car, look at this spectra here it is only $15,600.
"How'd we go from $7900 to $15600?"
I told him I had to get back to work, which I did, because it was like 10AM on a Thursday. Well the game started, look I know this game, I can play this game well, but honestly I didn't have time.
So he puts me in his office and goes to get a form. For those that don't know this is the "how I'm going to fuck you" form. "What do you want your payment to be.? It is utter crap - it is like buying a car from Herb Tarlek in 1978 at the discount motor place. Chris lacked the white belt and white shoes but the game is the same.
In the top box he writes the sticker price. "Oh jeebus" I'm thinking, this kid wants to do this the hard way. He wants to do the three way screw job on me. (When they manipulate the price, the trade in, and the financing all at once - I assure you when they do this you are getting screwed.)
I told him, tell me your best price on the car. I can take that to my wife, and then maybe we can do business. I don't need you to finance it, and I am not trading my truck in, and I don't have time to dance this dance right now.
More bullshit, as he had to go find his manager, blah blah blah. I left, he was chasing me out the door, "wait I'm going to get you a price right now!" "Well Chris you have my phone number - call me with the price"
I was at that dealership an hour, I still don't know what the price was. I weep at the number of suckers they have screwed over there.
My advice, don't go. Or if you do, pay me a consultant fee and I'll come with ya and play their game for you. I think at Capital Kia they actually would rather not do business with an informed, smart consumer. They'd rather just get fat on the suckers they can screw over. I never got a call.

I do not own a Kia....I am not in the market for a KIA, and I have never visited this KIA location. But I can honestly say that if I were looking for a new car I wouldn't visit this KIA location. Why do I have such distaste for this dealer?
The Commercials.
Everyone who has lived in Austin for more than a week has had the displeasure of hearing one of their commercials. I heard one on the way to work today which is what inspired this review. The slogan of this dealer is:
"If we can't beat another dealers price, we'll just give it to you"
Do they really think people are that dumb? Why would you want to buy a car from a dealer who treats their audience like a bunch of 5 year olds? Of course they aren't going to give it to you!!!! They'll just beat the price!!! Do people honestly think that if this dealer can't beat a price they will get the car for free?
"I'm sorry sir, we just can't seem to beat that price on this new car...... I guess you get to have it for free"
On the other hand, the commercial got me so enraged that I came on Yelp and wrote a review.......so maybe the advertising is working. They get three stars because they might be really nice people...... I just hate the commercials

I was out looking at pickups this morning and I pulled into the Capital Kia pre-owned lot and made the mistake of getting out of my car (a meticulously maintained, totally loaded 2005 Nissan Pathfinder LE with 40K miles on it). A salesman comes running out of the showroom as I am sprinting to my car, and unfortunately he catches me. My next mistake was that I actually talked to him. I knew I should have pulled my deaf and mute routine, but the cold air had iced my brain. Long story short...I found a 2005 Toyota Tundra with about the same mileage as my Pathfinder, but not nearly as loaded (no leather, no sunroof, etc.) and in not nearly as nice condition. I asked "How much?". "Well, we will give you a good deal!". "No, i asked how much?!" "I don't know...let me ask my manager" I wait. He comes back. "Well, we will give you $18K for your Pathfinder and you can have the Tundra for $24,888" "Are you F$%&@^g kidding me?! This Pathfinder was $35K new three years ago and I KNOW that Tundra was less and you want me to give you my car and $7,000?!" "No, we give you good deal". He runs to get the manager. I sprint towards my car. They sprint even faster towards me. My hand is on the door handle. "What do we need to do to get your business?" "Leave me alone" "What?!" "Leave me alone! I just came to look and now I'm leaving" I lost a lot of rubber getting out of that lot....
That's the condensed version. Read the review by Don R. to get the full picture. That's exactly what it's like. They might as well be a whorehouse...they are totally in the business of screwing people. Hardcore high-pressure sales tactics. You feel uncomfortable in the first minute they talk to you. That's the time to RUN!!!!!!!!
Yelp needs negative stars for places like this. One star is being extremely generous.

So Josh's mom on her final attempt to get a van decides she wants to go check out the Kia Sedona's in North Austin. They do have a 5 star crash rating and have front and rear A/C controls standard. I called up Kia and spoke to Chris Coker the Internet Sales manager. Chris tells me to come on out at 5pm on Saturday night. I had to go because Josh's mom did not want to get the shaft so I tagged along. We get there and they ran numbers on a 2006 Kia Sedona. Chris tried and tried but told us the payments would be over $500 and we wanted them around $350 to $375. I then asked if they had any demo models or certified preowned. He looks and tells me his Used location at IH35 and St. Johns has 2 2004s starting at $14k. He offers to meet us over there. We drive over there and were met by Matt who showed us the two Kia Sedona's. Both were basic models with power windows, locks and CD player. There was a green Sedona and a blue Sedona. Both Sedonas looked in rough shape. In fact, the detailer left wax streaks all over that van. I could have done a better job. We walk inside and they start running numbers. They start to present us with a deal when I tell Josh's mom that I am not getting good vibes from this and we should leave. She tells me she wants the van and wants to see what they can do. I come back and Matt pulls up their version of a "CarFax". He tells me there has been no repair work done to this car. Josh's mom decides she wants to go ahead and signs the paperwork. She has a "blank" check from USAA that she can use that had a better rate than they were offering but they were trying to get her financed that night because they get a kick back from finance places that use their service. Their rate they offered her was almost 3% higher in APR than she had but they worked on the numbers to eat the over $6000 in negative equity in her Honda CRV up. They get her payments a few dollars below what she is paying and they close the deal. It takes them forever to get this thing situated. You would think that you could just go in, buy a car and be in and out in less than 2 hours. Not this place.
She gets the van home and the next day she tells me, "I am spooked about this van. I should have listened to you." I figured they had a 48 hour return policy, she takes Monday off to go drop off this van at 9am when they open. She calls me from the parking lot and tells me one of the sales persons is refusing to help her that Matt or the Manager would have to assist her. She leaves to take the van over to the main Kia Dealership off 183 and Anderson Mill to get serviced because the van was making a noise which was coming from the suspension. I had hear the noise she was talking about. Chris Coker promised us a full detail for the van and promised to take care of the noise since it was under warranty. She leaves and calls Matt and the Manager from the used car start 3 and 4 times only to be told they were in "meetings". She even had Chris call him and he told Chris that he knew of the situation and he would "talk to him later". How ironic that over 3 days later, still no phone call from Matt or the Manager from the used store and its past the 48 hour turn in time.
I am amazed at service we got from the used car department of Captial Kia. You would think they would stand behind every product they sold, but they do not. Once you buy a car or truck from them, you are on your own. I give Chris Coker praise for putting up with our ranting and trying to do whatever he could to try to fix the situation. He could not do anything about the whole returning the van business but tried to do what he could to make us happy. I plan to file a complain with the Better Business Bureau with these guys as well as the Attorney General. I also plan to contact the owner of Capital Kia who apparently owns the Auto Mall here in Kyle as well a few other dealerships in Texas. I am sure that it probably will not go far but what they do not realize is that word of mouth travels far.
If you are in the market for a new or used Kia, Do not goto Capital Kia. Do not listen to their tv ad about if they can not beat a Kia deal, they will probably just give it to you. That is a bold faced lie. They might "woo" you with great numbers but after the sale, you are on your own.
