I typically eat at steakhouses only when I'm on business trips and dining with members of the executive team. My visit to Capital Grille falls into this bucket, and I found the experience to be a good one. Extensive wine list, varied salad options, and interesting steak preparation made for a great dinner at the end of a long day. I ordered the porcini rubbed steak with balsamic vinegar, which was quite tasty.

I read in some magazine somewhere that this was one of the best places to do LUNCH in Dallas.
So I have tried it out twice, for lunch, when I needed to impress a business associate.
And it did not fail to impress. Definitely the best high end lunch place I have found yet, in Dallas. Looking around, it seemed as though a lot of important power lunches were going down at the same time. We found the food excellent, the service beyond compare, and the whole experience to be classy. And not too pricey, all things considered. The self parking in the underground garage is free, if you have your ticket validated by your server.
I haven't been here for dinner.
Also, definitely recommend reservations even for lunch, this place fills up.

As an bona fide aficionado of beef I can honestly say that this place is pretty darn good. Not amazing, but pretty darn good. I wouldn't say that the menu is anything particularly special for this class of restaurants and, quite honestly I worry any time a steakhouse pumps up their 'chef's preparations' because it's usually to distract from inferior beef, still it delivers what it promises: good beef, horrible prices, men's club atmosphere.
In Dallas, this kind of place is extra fun because of the snob appeal. It's in the middle of the crescent and there are tons of older moneyed types that hang out there and are generally pretty friendly and interesting to look at.
I would just say that, how can anyone expect much more out of a chain steakhouse than this experience? The only real negative to me is that it has a pretty bland personality; it's sort of by the numbers and that's always a little bit of a crime.

While I would like to write a glowing review here, I feel I cannot. I have eaten many times at this fine restaurant I feel that since they were bought out by Red Lobster there efforts have fallen short . The food is not as refined and the service has slipped a bit. To bad.

Phenomenal to summarize in one word.
The service from the beginning was fantastic. The valet attendants all rushed to the car to open all of the doors, not just the driver's door.. and then rushed to open the doors to the restaurant.
The hostess inquired about the pronunciation of our last name, which is no small feat given its Polish origin. We didn't realize all of the servers would be calling us by name for the evening, which was a nice personal touch. Everyone was extremely helpful and friendly, without pestering us throughout the dinner.
I started with lobster and crab cakes for the first course, while my wife started with the french onion soup. The cakes were tasty and the fresh corn and onion salad on the side was even more delicious... I couldn't resist finishing it all, even if it was a garnish. The french onion soup was the best my wife has had, and it was closer to a pot of soup than a bowl of soup, truly gigantic.
I was adventurous for the main course and tried the Kona rubbed NY Strip with a side of lobster mac & cheese. I do not like coffee, so I was a bit nervous of the Kona rub, but I suspected that it wouldn't be a strong flavor. I was rewarded for my choice, the coffee added another dimension to the steak, but didn't mask the steak's natural flavor. The mac & cheese was awesome. Typically I won't touch mac & cheese, but the lobster element was irresistible. My wife had a side of au gratin potatoes, which I have never been a big fan of, and these didn't change my opinion, they were a bit too creamy. The portions of the sides were gigantic, all could be shared among 3-6 people, not 1-2 like I had suspected.
We had no room for dessert after the amount of food in the first courses, but that didn't stop us. I had to try dessert, the bar was set high by the food we had so far. Since I didn't have much room I opted for the creme brulee topped with fresh fruit. It was good, but it's hard to have a great creme brulee, it's either good or not from my experiences. The fruit was great... well selected fresh fruit, obviously the chef tastes the fruit before plating because out of all of the berries none were sour.
The only complaint that I would have is that the lighting is somewhat dim and the waiters do not carry flashlights for you to inspect your meat. Mine was undercooked, but it was difficult to see once I cut into it.

This steakhouse definately executes very well; Service, Food quality, and Experience have consistently been top-notch for me. Luckily, I knew a few of the servers here at the Dallas location, so the extra attention to detail is always nice.
Aside from the genuine care they give you, my food experience here was wonderful. Started the evening with the Smoked Salmon, Shrimp Cocktail, and the Caviar (couldn't remember which I had though but it was extremely fresh). While I am a huge fan of shrimp cocktail, I've actually had bigger and better. My favorites here were the Caviar and Smoked Salmon. Even though the name has left me, I can assure you the caviar is so fresh it practically melts in your mouth. Now, listen up: this is how you should eat the smoked salmon once you order it. Distribute the capers over the salmon, drizzle a bit of olive oil, squeeze lemon juice over the salmon, and confirm for the pepper the server asks over the salmon. This is the perfect combo that will satisfy every taste bud of your tongue. I guarantee you will like this..it is refreshing and a flavorful start to a nice meal.
As far as main entree, I was immediately intrigued by the 'Sliced Filet Mignon with Cippolini Onions and Wild Mushrooms'. This is apparently one of their most popular items as well. This beautiful combination is so deflicious--the meat is very tender and the onion mushroom complement is very nice. The mushrooms are not overpowering as some can be and the balance is perfect in this steak dish. This definately had some rich flavors and was exactly what I was craving. Complement this all with Plumpjack wine and you're set.
The flourless chocolate expresso cake was how I ended my wonderful dining experience. Rich, rich, rich! If you appreciate this, you will like it. Not dry at all.

Great food! In the land of steakhouses, Capital Grille is one of the best. I just did restaurant week here and it was awesome. I wish we had a few more choices, but I think I'm spoiled by Abacus' menu . . . You could pick between 2 salads, a beef, chicken, or fish entree and between 2 desserts that you had to split with your date. All in all the food was awesome, the service was amazing, and the atmosphere was wonderful. I highly recommend . . . for restaurant week. I'm not completely sold on the regular menu . . .
But for the love of god have the mashed potatoes . . . oh man . . . the best potato I've ever had in any form ever. Yeah . . . they WERE that good.

This place is great, and believe me, I've tried almost every steakhouse in Dallas thanks to my in-laws. This is the only one that I ever got really excited about visiting again. The atmosphere is great, service is fantastic, and the food is awesome. My husband and father-in-law's favorite is the porcini rubbed rib-eye. I'm very picky about red meat, so I always order the filet, which is excellent, too. Salads are exceptional, and they have the best calamari appetizer EVER.

A very good steakhouse, in a city with a MILLION steakhouses....so that means something. Trying hard to be a "gentleman's" steakhouse with lots of wood-paneling and intimidating real/faux portraits on the walls. You half expect someone to hand you a cigar and select your party's nominee for president.
The food was very good with 8 out of 9 steaks cooked as requested, only one overdone and it was quickly whisked away and replaced. Big thumbs up to the lobster mac 'n cheese side dish. Also, you must end the evening with the coconut creme pie, an absolute delight.
Service was attentive and genuine. Though one felt a little pushed to try the server's favorite dishes. Back off a little there, bud.....though I do appreciate a server with suggestions.
The only reason I took off a star is because a steakhouse in Dallas can't afford to be anything less than perfect....and so few things in life truly are.

The BEST Ribeye Steak Sandwich with Caramelized Onions and Cheese. A boneless, prime ribeye steak is cooked to your wishes then served with sweetly caramelized balsamic onions and Havarti cheese on a grilled French loaf. YUM! I had a tiny cup of lobster bisque to start, I could taste lumps of lobster meat. Chocolate hazelnut cake was not that great. Overall, it was a great dinning experience.
