Who knew? Here in one of the reddest of redneck red states, the Capitol Club, hard by the Capitol itself, is an island of sanity and discreet, clubby, chummy, vaguely Edwardian gay fun. It's not a food or dancing place, just a place to relax in nice surroundings--leather sofas, lovely decor--with good drinks and a sense of welcome. Hard to find if you don't know quite where it is and I was advised to call ahead and let them know you're from out of town and want to spend some time with them. Call ahead so they will let you in, seriously.
