This review is for the recently added breakfast fare.

Pretty okay.  I should add reviews of my other breakfast joints, because unless I'm in a time crunch I'd probably go to one of those instead.  That being said, I wasn't disappointed.  Again, could be the pregnant lady thing, but I had the biscuits and gravy with fried eggs and it was pretty tasty.  My son's meal was HUGE and cheap (I think like $3.99 for french toast, bacon and scrambled eggs) but our adult portions were just normal sized.  The best thing is being able to get those corn fritters for breakfast.  Heck, just order two baskets of those. . . .

Pretty good food and the staff is very friendly and fast. Only had one issue out of the dozen times we have been there. I think that was more of an individual issue than an establishment issue.

Came for brunch today.  Brunch typically equals favorably priced, for which Canyons obliges.  Unfortunately my dish of a southern-style breakfast burrito was decent but not particularly full of flavor, something you would think a 'southern' restaurant might throw in there.  Corn fritter appetizers are highly recommended as a starter however, and yet the starter should never be better than your actual meal.  Iced tea was nothing more than the giant restaurant-sized Lipton bag variety.  Our particular server was actually really sweet and very good at her job, however the peons delivering plates from kitchen to table were a stack of boneheads who continuously were serving things to the wrong tables restaurant-wide.

Most likely my once-in-a-lifetime Canyons experience, no tears shed.

This location is not quite as good as I remember it. If I just went with today's experience, it would only be 3 stars, but since I used to come here all the time for lunch and HH when I worked in the area a couple years ago, I can't fault it just for this one bad time. It wasn't even that the food was bad, they were just REALLY slow.

Canyons has a great HH and if you can get there before noon, they have a great lunch "Express Menu" where you can pick one of 10 different things and get a "bottomless" drink all for $7.99.

Tonight, they just weren't on their game, but all my food came like I ordered it and oooohh what I'd do for some of those corn fritters and honey butter!

We had dinner here last night on our way to the twice-annual sale at IKEA (where, btw, we made out like bandits with a fabulous new desk, awesome wine racks, and a few other smaller items). I digress...the restaurant...well..hmmm...let's see:

1) The menu is...ehhn...okay...not much to choose from and nothing that really stands out as a signature piece.

2) HOLY CRAP...a LITER OF COLA...I mean beer. I thought my man was going to have to be floated out of there...that thing is HUGE. Decent tap selection too. Again though, nothing signature...just more of the typical.

3) Not a terrible kids menu! This is a big deal for us since we don't actually get to go out without the mini-me. He has food allergies and diet restrictions and there were plenty of options suitable for his tender tummy.

4) I had the Cod Tacos. I have to admit...this is where they won me over. I make a mean fish taco at home that I (albiet biased opinion since it is my own) LOVE. My partner loves them...I love them...my kid use to love them before we realized he shouldn't be eating them. So I have been on the hunt for similar tacos to my own...again, very biased. These were wonderful. Very large in comparison to previous places I have tried. And although not terribly authentic in their look or taste...I loved them. If I hadn't stuffed myself on the decent tasting southwest eggroll appetizer and beer I would've made myself sick trying to stuff two well sized fish tacos down my throat. I didn't bother to eat the rice...it didn't appeal to me...but my partner said it was pretty tasty. He rather enjoyed his blacked chicken fetticine as well.

All in all...we would go back...if nothing for else...for the fish tacos and to drown ourselves in a Liter of Cola...I mean beer!! :-)

Good food for the masses!  Variety - a little of everything for everyone.   Your typical weeknight go-grab-a-bite restaurant.   I'm a sucker for the cheesesteak sandwich.  They also have great Happy Hour specials - try the corn fritters w/ the honey butter.  =)   Oh, and for those beautiful Seattle summer afternoons - perfect place to sit on the patio, enjoy a drink and bask in the sun.

If I could give this restaurant ZERO stars, I would. It was just awful, so awful I'm not even going to give it a second chance.

Once a week, my daughter, stepdaughter and I have "girls' night out" -- I take them out to eat and then to the library, to get our nails done, or for a walk somewhere pleasant. We started a library girls' night out at Canyons a few weeks ago, and it ruined our evening.

First, the wait was pretty long... and they passed over us in favor of other parties the same size as us... I had to call my name on their list to their attention to EVER get a table. Idiots.

The table itself was OK, though some of the silverware was dirty.

They have a good selection of books for the kids, which is nice. They have the standard coloring sheet on the kids' menu.

We ordered our drinks, and I knew we were in trouble from the get-go. I asked for Diet Coke with a slice of lime, and got a sugar Coke with a slice of lemon. That cost our waitress a tip dollar right there. My daughter ordered a Shirley Temple and got plain Sprite with a cherry. They have a full bar and that's all they're capable of? My stepdaughter got the sugar Coke she asked for.

We ordered two appetizers, nachos and cheese sticks. The nachos were good, and they were actually hot. The fried mozzarella, though, just plain SUCKED. It was cold, it was greasy, and the marinara came out of a jar. Ugh. For $9, that's ridiculous!

My stepdaughter ordered the appetizer chicken strips and fries ($9.29) and they were bland and cold. I ordered the $10.99 bacon cheeseburger, and it also sucked. The bacon was burnt, the burger was cold, and despite asking for no toppings, it was smeared thickly with mayonnaise (and I hate NOTHING more than mayo!) I also ordered onion rings instead of fries (a $2 extra charge), didn't get them -- but they appeared on the bill later. My daughter ordered something simple off the kids' menu, and it was merely OK.

Our server was awful. She didn't refill our drinks promptly. She didn't make sure the food was OK after she dropped it off (which is good, because it wasn't, and she wouldn't have wanted to deal with us). She took forever to bring the bill, to the point where I finally got annoyed enough to get the girls ready to go and to start to walk out without paying. And then, as I mentioned, the bill was wrong and she was snotty about it, insisting on looking at my already-cleared plate, I suppose to make sure I wasn't lying about not getting the onion rings I ordered.

We will never, EVER go back here. Few restaurants in Washington state have pissed me off so much.

The library was great, when all was said and done. :-)

Eating at Canyon's probably won't kill you and the food isn't completely disgusting. The corn fritter things are actually quite tasty.  The parking is a snap and it's in a convenient location.

There...I said something nice.  Now I can be a bitch.

1) the menu is ho-hum.  It tries to be Southwest at times, but then it doesn't really know what that means.  Everything is either covered in rubbery, yellow cheese, gobs of slimy avocado, or is fried and greasy.  There's nothing even remotely interesting on the menu--nothing that makes you go "ooh! I'd like to try that!".  Everything has been done before at other places, usually with better results.

2) the prices aren't great.  There's something deep inside me that loathes paying $10 for a cheeseburger.

3) the atmosphere sucks.  The bar is on one end, and the booths and seats near the bar are reminiscent of a fast food joint.  The main dining room is way too casual--I really don't like to watch sports all that much, especially when I am trying to have a nice meal with friends/family.

Unless you really want to spend a bunch of money on lack-luster, at times flavorless food, go somewhere else.

I'm not saying i used to work here or anything.... but a few helpful hints... ;)

Personal favs:
PRIME RIB DIP with baked beans mmmmmmmmmmmm
Tuna or fish Tacos (w/ chips & salsa instead of sub-par rice)
Spinach Salad (with oil & vinegar or lemon slices)... all the salads are great though
Corn Fritters
Carne Asada
Green Chili (SPICY)
Black Bean Dip (not for vegetarians)
Fried Mozz (actually really good)
Banana Cheesecake Xango (SOOOO tasty)

I Wouldn't Order:
Enchilada Verde
Coconut Prawns (i have my reasons)
Chicken Fettuccine (blech!)
Chimichanga
Guacamole & chips
chicken caesar wrap (usually comes out soggy)
Honey Lime chicken

Other notes:  Happy hour food is great, rotating beer on tap (YAY MANNY's!), and yes, cute girls.  Note there is only a small lunch special menu, so expect to pay regular prices at lunch.  Don't add guac, it's not worth the $0.79.

PS- if you have a problem with your server or your food, definitely let the manager know.  They are SUPER helpful and will fix whatever is amiss.  Rob is the best!

for the 27 times i have been there

i have been to this Canyons so many times for work lunches, for lunch lunches, whatever....i have a lot of Canyons experiences..

wait staff...3 stars
overall the wait staff is friendly and on the ball, i have experienced times when the wait staff sucks and have experiences when they were on it.... its like more chain eateries.....

food....3 stars
never had a horrible experience, never had a great experience.. the food is satisfying for the most part....priced accordingly for the most part.... What i do  crave is those corn fritter bits...so delicious and so good for your heart! :)

atmosphere...3.5 stars
this is where canyons needs its Zoloft or Lithium. You have your times of the day when its Granny day and it smells of old lady perfume, you know that musty cotton, old smell that seems to frequent senior citizen females? ick.... you have your times when its business suit Bill times and there is nothing but loud White men talking about this and that......blah....you have your times when its mid-20's time and the bar is hopping and there is lots of laughs to be heard...generally a good time, just busy time... then there is the mellow lull of the late sunday afternoon church crowd.....usually a good time to go for fast service, food is delivered promptly, and good atmosphere...

bathrooms.....1 star...who the F*ck puts the bathrooms like they do at this Canyons? the Mens opens up to a kitchen or the ladies door smacking you around...just a poor design...generally the bathrooms are clean....you can piss and Sh*t and in peace.

overall you should be leaving this location full and ok with your wallet being a bit lighter....

Their Lunch specials are priced perfectly and are pretty good....I should know i have tried them all

My wife ordered the baby back ribs and I got the coconut shrimp, these were OK. But we had some buffalo wings for appetizers that were almost uneatable. They tasted like they were soaked in vinegar, yuck. The place was so noisy we had to shout to hear each other, and we are only two feet away from each other. We didn't think to much of the bar being so openly connected with the dinning room. I was thinking about putting in some earplugs!!! The prices seemed reasonable and the staff were friendly and fast. All and all I don't think we will be back.
At least not with out earplugs.

I work nearby, and I like to pick up their quesadillas to share with my co-worker.  It's a great portion for two people, and it gives us a  yummy lunch for $5 per person.  Both the steak and chicken ones are unique, and taste awesome.  There is bacon on the chicken ones, so I'm pretty much sold there anyway.  I LOVE me some beers too, and they have a lot of choices and have a HUGE beer mug to serve them in if you desire, I think somewhere around 24 oz.  Their wings are a little different, but I'm a big fan of salt and spicy, so I was pretty happy with those too.  I've had their enchilada verde too, which was a little spicy, a lot cheesy and really good.  Cobb salad = good.  Everything I've had there has been pretty darn great and did I mention they have a lot of beers to choose from?

I have only eaten in the dining area one time, and it was a normal restaurant experience. I like it because it isn't Red Robin. I also like this location's bar. I think they have free wi-fi although I never used it. This is a good place to come and grab a few drinks after work to relax and hang out with some friends, or whoever. I definitely recommend it.

For what you get it's a litle overpriced. But, it's pretty big portions, so me and bf usually can split something.
The sauce they give you with your burger is pretty good...and we always get the coconut prawns for apetizer.

Staff is kind of unorganized, but whatever, it's not a fancy place or anything.

This place blows - food and drinks are WAY overpriced.  And not even that good food either.  Waitstaff is slow, and are incompetent.

The only redeeming part of the experience were the cute waitresses. The food was mediocre at best.  I ordered the double rack of ribs but was not crazy about the sauce. One rack was ultra tender and the other was not nearly as tender (seemed like they cooked them separately).  My companion ordered the burger.  Very poor quality, frozen (vs fresh) and had some gristle in it.  O-rings were OK.  Service itself was spotty.  I won't be going back anytime soon.
