I went to the Canyon Club for the first time to see Gordon Lightfoot with my husband for our Birthday (we have the same BDay Oct 22nd), the show was absoulety the best! The employees were very friendly and helpful, the food was good, and its the best quaint venue Ive ever been to, and Ive been to a lot of places.

You cant beat the price for such a wonderful night!

I would rate this place on the highest scale. Thank You Canyon Club for making my Bithday the absolute best. Cheers!

Went there last week to see Pat Benetar and had a GREAT time. They need 2-3 more bartenders during peak times. I didn't eat dinner there but there was adequate standing room, although not much ability to move once you were planted in a spot.

The worst thing about Canyon Club were some of the people that go there.. A lot of boozers, and dumbasses at the bar who squat on chairs and barstools rather than actually using them.

Other than that, a very fun time and Pat Benetar was absolutely amazing.

Seemed like it was going to be a fun place to see a band but in the end the lack of a good sound system didn't make it worth it.

Went on a Thursday I was on a list so I didn't have to pay. sweeeeeet.

saw the spazmatics. sweeeeet.

after they were done a regular dj played top 20 music.

Now I should let you know that before I came here I was at Cisco Happy Hour, and before that the Alamo, so needless to say I was a hot mess.

I let loose and grinded up on some strangers, pretty sure it was 80% dudes which for me is great!

Ok, I tried the place again.  This time to see a comedian Craig Shoemaker.  He was good, the place is bad.

We went for the show, no dinner. So, we knew it was a standing thing.  Bouncers were keeping the main isle clear so we found a spot to stand that looked through the isle to allow us to see the stage.  After a while the bouncers gave up and we ended up not being able to see the stage well (as was the situation with most standers). The people who bought a dinner ticket where packed tight and siding side ways to the stage.

At one point we found a place at the side bar.  It was far but had a clear line of sight. The problem was the bar tender was in a fight with his a girl (his wife??).  The room was quite but Steve insisted on talking.  When we asked them to take it some where else, she said ok but he got belligerent and insisted he had a right to have a conversation with a customer.  You have to understand the whole room was quite trying to hear the comic and this guy wouldn't shut up. I thought the guy was going to "invite" me out back to finish it at any minute.   How's that for customer service. There's other negative things I could say about the place, but the bottom line is: This could be a great venue and may one day become one. Let's hope the place gets new management so we can go back. Until then, I'll spend my money else where.

I feel like I am just going to reiterate what many have said her before. Unfortunately I feel like the Canyon Club could be a cool venue and make for a great night, but the negatives are just holding it down.  Yes the food is overpriced and quality is lacking.  It just seems like a scam for anyone who actually wants to have a seat for a show, that they have to order food.  Now the place did seem to have decent sound when we were there and the lighting and ambience was not bad as well.  I just feel like this place overall is like many of the acts that play here, which is second tier and past their prime.

They no longer have a guestlist so to speak. You have to know a bartender. Which this is a new thing. Before I would be put on Johns list. This is no longer available, maybe too many ppl were getting in free. O well.

This place still has great drinks and they have a massive amount of great ppl who play here. Need to advertise as a music venue more for sure....

The Spazmatics have been playing here every week for almost four years, and I've been a faithful fan all this time. I wish I could say this was a great place to see them, but the crowd has gotten drunker and more unruly in the past six months, to the point that the regulars have stopped going.  The Canyon Club is mismanaged; they'll let anybody in, and they don't have nearly enough security personnel to deal with any problems that come up.  Although parking is free, there's not much else to recommend this club these days. I'd recommend seeing The Spazmatics almost anywhere else!

I think this place was getting a bad rap on some of the earlier reviews.  It is a live music club that happens to take in some money on the side by having the kitchen in the adjacent business serve some food.  We came only for the show.

Yeah you have to stand, but that is how club shows work.  The drinks are a bit on the steep side - I would recommend getting liquored up before arrival.  It would be nice if they just skipped the "supper club" pretense and focused on being a music venue.  But as long as people are willing to shell out for some mediocre grub and a chair - it will probably still be a feature.  The sightlines from the seating did not look that great.  Some configurations would allow standing attendees to block the view from a purchased chair at a table.  Audio is pretty decent, but I would still recommend ear plugs.  Parking is ample and free.

I had lived in Agoura for 9 years right across from this place and last Tuesday was the first time I went there.

Bel and I did a last minute trek to Agoura Hills to watch our Facebook friend, Edwin San Juan, perform his usual awesome comedy act.  I was extremely happy to know Shaun Latham and Felipe Esparza were performing as well and knew that Bel was in for a treat, being this was her first time to watch the three muskateers!

Edwin met us outside and said it was a small crowd but no biggie (always the optimist).  Tickets were $18 per person but Ed gave us the hook up which was fantastic.  The interior of the venue had a lodge-like feel.  Nice open space, lots of comfy couches.  The bartender was friendly and the drinks were strong.  Two pluses in my humble opinion.  We ordered Steak Fries too.  They were excellent.  Huge and delicious.  Most places over salt but these huge fries were perfectly seasoned.

We settled down to watch their stand up act, which I recommend everyone to see.  You'll laugh til you cry.  Anyhoo, acoustics were great, lighting was great.  Half of the crowd was a little dead but the guys came out with the same enthusiasm they would have given to a larger crowd.

Great experience!  I like that place.  And there's a zillion parking spaces - even more so on a Tuesday evening.

I have seen America and Styx at Canyon Club and was blown away by how close I was sitting to the band (I could actually touch the stage with no effort).  I had ongoing eye contact with the band members during their performances and 1 member of Styx actually reached for my hand!   It is a rare treat to have a venue like the Canyon Club nearby (I live in Camarillo).  I have read some of the other reviews and was shocked by the responses.   If you go to a larger facility (like the Staples Center), you won't see the performers without binoculars!      I actually was able to meet several band members from America after their performance.  It is a very intimate setting and we are fortunate to have the Canyon Club nearby!  I am buying tickets now for KC & the Sunshine Band and Air Supply.  I can hardly wait!!!  You don't go to this place for the food or for the drinks, for the record, you go for the MUSIC and the intimate setting!  And it really is an amazing experience to be so up close and personal to the performers!  I missed Pat Benatar and regret that.  My brother said she was absolutely amazing.

Well. I read the reviews for this place before we went and so I had really LOW expectations...good thing too because I was not disappointed. Not only did they meet my low expectations, but they went even lower.

We only went to watch Gabriel Iglesias on jan. 16, my hubby bought the tickets (30 bucks each) which was reasonable, but then you are told that there's a two drink minimum (the drinks are not priced on the menu BTW) and you must purchase a dinner to SIT at the show. WTF??

We sat at a cramped cafeteria style table with about 40 other people. It was very hot inside the club, at one point the comedian even complained about it!

Each seat already had a green salad placed in front of it, soggy, wilted and warm. It was so dark in the club that you couldn't see what you were eating exactly (perhaps that was the point!), and they had only ONE set of salt and pepper shakers for 40 people!!

When the waitress finally came over and took our orders she was short with us, sarcastic, rude and just plain uninterested. She never introduced herself (not that we'd be able to hear her with the 38 other people screaming over each other at the table) We ordered a 25 dollar piece of meat lasagna and a 32 dollar slice of prime rib.

When the food arrived the Sh** for brains waiters had no idea who's plates were who's (our waitress didn't write anything down when we ordered) so they literally just stood over our area screaming "MEAT LASAGNA?" "PRIME RIB!!". After all of that nonsense our food was cold, under seasoned and way over cooked. The lasagna plate was a pathetic little serving and tasted like it just cooked out of the freezer! A buddy of ours tried to order a $3.50 coke after 830 and was told that they were no longer serving drinks!! If he had ordered a 15 dollar Margarita I am sure there would have been no problem. Dessert was included and the chocolate cake looked and tasted like store bought bundt cake, the cheesecake was the way to go and no you don't get more options don't ask.

The show was great as to be expected with such an amazing comedian. At the end we walked out sweaty, deaf, hungry, and totally pocket book raped. We spent over 80.00 bucks for the nastiest lasagna and cold tough prime rib. My advice? Find another venue. This place was awful from start to finish!

This place is a disorganized mess operated by mindless, rude idiots.

We bought tickets for dinner and a show and when we got there, we lined up in the long line for people with tickets. When we reached the front entrance, some ogre told us we needed to go to the back of another long line and get a wristband first. THEN - when we got to the front of that line - they asked us if we'd made a reservation... Now, I called the box office earlier in the day to ask if we needed to do anything prior to arriving at the venue and the woman I spoke to said all we needed to do was show up before 7pm and it was first come first serve (we got there at 6. Apparently, that's not how it works... they told us to leave and come back when the show started and we could stand.

So we left - I didn't pay 90 bucks a ticket for seats only to stand around and wait for three hours. Fuck this place. I hope the fat retard who works the door gets venereal disease.

I'm not going to suggest any of the photos to accompany this review because yelp doesn't provide any thumbnails of a steaming hot turds.

Always crowded and always a line...Not really my scene...

I must say, I do enjoy the show the Spazzmatics, who play there regularly...80s covers really brings a side out of girls that you don't get to see every day...I can't dance to 80s music to save my life...

It almost has a western theater theme, but what do you expect from a place called the "Canyon Club"...Who are they trying to kid?...We're in Ventura county...

The odd thing about this place is that it doesn't have the heavy presence of cougars that most bars/clubs in this area seems to have...I don't mind as I've come to appreciate both the vigor of youth and the wealth of experience...

Bar is ALWAYS 2 or 3 deep...A lot of fake ID's in here too...Smoking area outside is typically shoulder to shoulder...

I wasn't kidding about the western theater feel...Imagine going to an old western theater and just taking out the seats...You're now in Canyon Club...

I'd pay a cover to see the Spazzmatics and the DJ serves his function, but isn't anything exceptional...I don't know about other nights...

I've never had the food here because I usually get smashed drunk here...I eat at 24 hour whatever that someone else is driving to...

Four of us went to Canyon Club last night, for the first time. Assuming it's always this way (and maybe it's only this way for crowded shows), let's get a few important things down.

If you want to sit at all, you have to go for dinner. If you don't mind standing for the entire show, then that might be the way to go. But my pregnant wife couldn't stand for 3+ hours, so we opted for dinner. They told us that it was a big show, and we should try to arrive by 6pm for dinner (good thing we talked to the venue on the phone, or we would have thought 8pm would have been okay).

As soon as we walked in, I was disappointed. Instead of a bunch of round tables in front of the stage as I had imagined, the dinner seating is packed as tightly as physics allows. There are mostly rows of long long long tables backed-up to each other, so you're sitting elbow to elbow with others. If your seat is not facing the stage, you have to twist your body to see the entertainment (there isn't enough room to rotate the chairs). It's not easy to get in and out (to go to the bathroom, etc.) unless you're at one end of the table.  Oh, and it got pretty warm in the crowded seating area.

The cheapest meal is $25 lasagna. I think the next up is $35. Plus you're supposed to order two drinks, though our waiter said he'd let us just order one each. The high price of the food was an unexpected surprise. The online menu gives the impression there are starters, sides, and that you can order what you want. In reality, there are just a few preset complete meals, so there's no ordering just a couple of starters. Also, note that draft beers are in surprisingly small cups.

On the positive side, the staff was nice and the food was good. But don't expect much service during the show, I think it's just too hard for waiters to get to people.

I thought the sound was fine, though a bit louder than I expected. But no distortion.

Bottom line is I prefer other venues, and it's very likely I won't go back to Canyon Club.

This is a live music venue review, I have not had the food although I hear it is very good.  As for a live music venue this place rocks, I saw a killer show here and really enjoyed myself.  We got a table, ordered drinks and kicked back.  The acoustics are excellent and you can clearly see the artists from anywhere.  There are two bars and waitress service so getting a drink is quite easy.

A cool venue that has lots of good bands from the 80's.... Berlin, Pat Benatar, Madonna.  Okay, maybe not Madonna, but how cool would that be?!

They have two huge bars, some comfy couches on the side, and some tables.  But it's not really a place for sitting and chatting it up with friends.  They also have cool cover bands so this place is meant for mingling and getting your groove on.

Parking is free and the lot is big.

This is a decent enough place -- it's cool and relaxed inside, but there are a couple of issues with it.  I've been here twice now and the music is so LOUD it distorts badly.  Even with earplugs cutting down the volume, everything here just sounds like crap.  Which is a shame, cuz it's a music venue.

The first time, we stood near the back for a Pat Benatar show, she performed well but it was hard to tell because it was so distorted.  I would also not recommend standing for 4 hours straight, it's just no fun.

Just a few days ago we went to see the 60's band The Zombies, who were incredible.  And this time, we decided to sit at a table and (reluctantly) buy their "overpriced, crap" dinner (as I had read here).  Well, luckily the food wasn't so terrible -- I would describe it as passable to good, like what you'd be served at a wedding.  I went for the safest choice on the menu, which was also the cheapest at $25, the Lasagna -- and it was actually pretty good!  For $25 it included a crappy little plain salad and also a dessert (chocolate cake or cheesecake), so $25 was not a ridiculous price to pay for it all together (a comparable restaurant would charge you at least $3 for the salad and $5 for the dessert).  My wife had the lemon caper chicken for $30 which was moist but very mild--almost tasteless.  The vegetables and potatoes on the side were good.

So that's it.  Luckily the food wasn't as bad as I expected, and the price for sitting down and eating lasagna wasn't bad -- we just drank sparkling water and the whole bill came to $66 + tip.  I'd rather pay that and sit comfortably near the stage than stand for 4 hours!

But make sure to bring earplugs.  This place will make you deaf!

"Weeeeee beloonnng!"

I saw Pat Benatar here in October and will be seeing her again in the summer *crosses fingers*.

I wish people gave me the heads up that if you don't do dinner, you are standing in the back.  I am teeny tiny.... and couldn't see.  I had to really throw some elbows to get a good view.  THAT was kind of annoying.  Next time I won't make that mistake.

Perks:  easy parking
Bigger perk:  $5 cab ride to my place anyways

Rock on, Pat...Rock on.

Oh and if you need a cup of joe while waiting around, they have a little coffee shop connected and the people that work there make great convo.  :D

This venue is awful. Saw Don Rickles perform there for a hefty price, and he was the only redeeming thing about the evening. After spending over a hundred dollars on a couple tickets, we had to stand the whole evening (not even a bar stool available)- and there really was not enough room to stand anywhere with decent sound. If we wanted to sit down, that would have been double the ticket price or something, and then they make you buy dinner. Which I'm sure couldn't have been a very good experience considering the amount of people they cram into those tables.

My main complaint with this place is that it is unorganized. The ticket call window was in a strange little closed cafe that was dark (didn't have the lights on), and then you had to get in a second line at the same window to wait for a wristband. I sat in that line for another ridiculous amount of time with apparently nobody in charge of handing the wristbands out, and employees walking by and ignoring the large line of people waiting to get it. They were unfriendly and did not have any organization. This wouldn't be a problem if I were at some punk rock dump, but come on! It's just a regular dump that overcharges for old washed-up acts (not including Don Rickles). For the price, this place isn't worth it.

In addition to all that, it is ugly inside. It tries to pull off the "Hard Rock" look with guitars on the wall, but that clashes with the lack of any well thought out interior design. It's just tacky. Really awful. I am never giving them my money again.

When there is nothing to do in this town, here or Chapter 8 around the corner are the only places that are worth driving to. 80s night is fun but the crowd ends up looking more like a mosh pit than a dance floor. Drinks are okay, but it can get crowded very quickly. For comedy venues, the place is convenient, but there's other places that are worth the drive if you have the time.

Where to begin? Located in a shopping center off the 101 this unassuming venue boast some of the best one hit wonders and washed up 80's has beens! I've seen some amazing performers here.  Pat Benatar, I must say was one of the BEST performances I've ever seen! We got there pretty late and just stood in the back, but we could still clearly see her on stage and they also have big screen tvs. Since then I've been back to see Cyndi Lauper .  The Spazmatics play here every Thursday and the Canyon Club has recently had performances by Air Supply, Foreigner, Etta James, Ozomatli, Cheap Trick etc etc...

FYI... Parking is free, but fills up fast so get there early to park close.
FYI Part II...... Canyon Club also has a location in Vegas!

I know, I know, many folks when looking at the Canyon Club's typical line-up will say, "Canyon Club: where old artists go to lounge themselves into the ground", and well, sure, the likes of Devo, Cindy Lauper, Pat Bennetar, etc, have been regulars to the Club, but hey, it kinda rocks! Third Eye Blind performed last night, and the energy was unbelievable. The sound blew me away. The crowd was singing, swaying, and sharing the love. Over two hours of beautiful music from a band that rarely can be seen live -- yeaaaah baby! It's so small that no matter what, you're about fifty feet from the stage.

Here are a couple of tips for an even more enjoyable evening:

1. Unless you really want to sit down during the performance, don't opt to buy dinner for a table, because the dinner is crap.

2. Unless you really want to buy a super expensive drink, or drink during the show, don't buy a drink there.

3. Instead, opt to show up a little early for the show. Go over to one of my favorite mexican food places, Latigo Kid, sit at (in) the bar, and throw down for five dollar margaritas with complementary SUPER BOMB chips and salsa!! Order a meal too if you're hungry, it's yummy.

4. If you're short, squeeze up front early, and if you can't, hang around the back sides. The sound is great there, and toward the back, the crowd is less packed, so with a little space between you and the people in front of you, you can see the stage pretty well.

Rock on brothas and sistas, and don't forget to give Buddha a little love on the way out. =]

I have only been here once, so perhaps my experience is not accurate, but it's all I have to report on. We had standing room tickets for a show. When we got there, it was about 15 minutes before the show was supposed to start. I had called the box office to specifically ask who the opening band was and they told me there was no opening band - just the headliner. Well, there was an opening band, so I wasn't thrilled about that. I knew I would be standing, but didn't want to stand through two bands. Clueless employee - or ploy to get me to buy more drinks? Not sure....

The dinner tables are Costco style banquet tables - for this show - I couldn't believe the density of the diners. I'm glad we didn't eat there; it looked cramped & way too cozy for my liking. The standing room is the fringe of the room  & the bar area. It's a drag, really. The stage is too low to get a decent view if you are under 6' tall.

The sound was - at least for this show - terrible. Probably the worst of any club I've ever been to. Way too quiet and generally bad acoustics. There did not appear to be any air conditioning. They have ceiling mounted fans running, but it was - to me - unbearably hot. Really, really uncomfortably hot.

The bar? Severely understaffed and expensive. I only had one drink, mainly because I didn't feel like waiting in line again. The staff? Seemed pretty indifferent to me.

We left the show early. I have placed The Canyon Club on my short list of venues never to return to. Sorry, it's just not my cup of tea.

I wish there were more venues like this in LA.  I have been there many times to see bands and for events put on my the company I work for.  Last night The Canyon Club hosted our company holiday party.  There was quite a spread of food ranging from prime rib to roasted chicken.  I stuck to the seafood table with a very busy sushi chef creating rolls and sushi for the crowd.  The fish was top quality, very fresh and clean.  There was lobster and crab along with shrimp and mussels.  The food was very fresh and the drinks were free.  Service here is very good and above average for this sort of venue.  I have seen various acts here including on of my favorite Cecilio & Kapono and it is always a good time.  Abundant parking and being in Agoura, the traffic to get here is always reasonable.  You can check out their website for upcoming shows and events. I always have a good time here.

OZOMATLI...YA SE FUE...YA SE..FUE!!..as you can guess, ozomatli was the first performance that i saw at this venue.  and quite honestly, it wasn't bad.  the acoustics were decent, and only added to the show's energy.  the stage was pretty close and there were no pretentious security keeping you away from where the action was.  the thing i like most was buying the tickets prior to the show at the box office.  the staff are mellow and laid back.  no hollywood superstars here...and i liked it like that.

We went here last night and I had a blast!  It's not the huge overpriced venues but the crowd was fun and I thought the sound and lighting were awesome!

This place is run by rude nasty jerks. They advertised a show as starting at 9pm and the band we came to see had already played! When I told them about it they refused to take responsibility and straight out lied saying "they played a short set"  Unbelievable! With so many venues closer to home , it doesn't seem to make sense to drive out here just  to be treated like shit.

Like Shannon, I was there for a 3EB show, and it was one of the best shows I have seen.  The sound was unbeliveable!  Sure, the place is in the middle of nowhere, and looks old and ghetto, but it's a fun time!  It's a really small, intimate venue, with great views of the stage no matter where you are.  Parking is plentiful and free, and the staff is nice with no over-bearing security.  We got there early to get a space in front of the stage, but others were there early for the overpriced dinner.  Even if you don't get dinner, you can always order appetizers and try and eat them while securing your spot in front of the stage...  Drinks are pricey at $9.75 each, so it's a better idea to pre-drink at home or next door...   No prob bringing cameras in here either.  Oh yeah, for all you groupies, it's pretty easy to meet the band before/after shows being that the busses are parked around the back.  A great time and a great venue despite how crappy the outside looks.
