I spent a lot of time searching online, before I made my decision.  I chose this place because of the price and because they could print any size.  I printed a 40"x60" of our favorite wedding picture.  They had a 2" depth option that I did not find anywhere else.  The canvas is the focal point of our vaulted ceiling living room.  We have been copied by every friend we know that has subsequently been married.

We've had an empty wall over our couch since we moved in 4 years ago. Recently, we decided a large photo from our trip to Japan would be a good choice... but really thought a plain ole image would look pretty cheesy. After a bit of research, we managed to end up at Canvas Press.

To fill the large space, we thought a tri-panel canvas would be the best balance of style and taking up space. I have to admit I was concerned the image would appear grainy or just somehow not look right stretched. All my fears were unfounded as the canvas exceeded our expectations. We actually had a party shortly after we hung it and got a ton of compliments.

Prices were very reasonable, especially considering the coupon I found. Our canvas, which is 32"x48" was actually less than the cost to frame a similar sized print.

Shipping was "holy crap" quick with ordering on a Thursday night and getting it the next Wednesday (despite choosing normal shipping). That includes getting our proof back within 24 hours and approving it on a Friday night.

They also include these awesome "beehive" hangers that make hanging things, especially multiples, amazingly simple.

The best part was the hand written, personalized thank you note we got in the mail today. They shamelessly plug Yelp on it, but I can't blame them... it worked! I uploaded the image, check it out. Now that's a company that knows how to make their customers feel special. Bravo Canvas Press. Bravo.

Got an old image you want blown up? These guys are the real deal.

I uploaded a hi-res scan of my grandpa playing football in the 1920's. The original is grainy and not real clear, but that helps add to the cool factor.

The processing results were very positive - it looks like a giant 2.5' x 3.5' sepia tone that will undoubtedly be great in a frame (when I get around to it).

I'm local, so I was able to pick up my print and they run a tight ship - clean and friendly. Plus I got to see their work on canvas. It's not exactly my thing (I like my photo printing to be true), but I did like the idea presented by a member of the staff who said "older images work well on canvas because the texture helps hide imperfections." Something to consider.

I was called when my order was ready and I even received a handwritten thank you note - always a positive in my book. I'd recommend them to anyone.

History

Established in 2006

It is safe to say that every artist has found and continues to seek inspiration for art. For Canvas Press, the inspiration came from photography. In 2005, CEO Doak Walker and Caroline Ulbrich met in central Texas through a photography business ran by Walker's mother. They fast-discovered that they both shared a passion not only for photography, but for fine art as well. They wanted to form a company that could make fine art prints accessible to everyone as well as encourage the creation of art by the customers themselves. Gilcee on canvas was the answer. It's affordable, beautiful and timeless. Canvas Press was born.

Four years later, and operating just outside of the Austin City Limits in Round Rock, Texas, Canvas Press has become a bright star among big, pricey competitors. The new Canvas Press office features a gallery and photo studio where monthly events are held. 2010 finds this small web-based company getting ready for tremendous growth, big competition and proving who's best.

Meet the Business Owner: Doak W.

My mother is a professional photographer and she became the inspiration for Canvas Press. The idea started around the fact that there were no outlets where general consumers could get a unique print of their photograph. The idea of opening this up and allowing anyone and everyone to easily order a canvas print was how it all came about.

From day one we knew we needed to have an aggressive online strategy. It took us about a year to get it working in our favor and getting our first website wasn't easy. We had a few major bumps in the road but once we got the site tuned up we could see our plan start to work.

The best thing about Canvas Press are the people. We want to make sure every customer is happy and we understand that is no easy thing to do. We make our customers happy by getting to know them. We strive to offer the best quality product that we can. We use the finest canvas, spray and wood frames. Ultimately, we put exceptional care into everything we do.
