I love this place! They have the best orange chicken. They could have better chow mein and cashew nut chicken but aside from that the food is quiet good.

Oh Canton Kitchen, how I love thee. I don't understand how anyone could give this place less than a 5 star review. I think it's a local thing.. like Tito's...if you're from Culver City/Mar Vista/Venice you know and love it.

It may not look like anything that special from the outside, but the food is as good as it gets. The fried rice is like crack.. addicting! Their orange chicken is delicious, kind of spicier than most places. The broccoli with beef is amazing, and their BBQ spare ribs are so tender and good. I also love their egg rolls and fried wontons. Not exactly the healthiest cuisine, but well worth the calories.

The owners are really friendly, I'm never disappointed with the service. It's a good idea to call ahead though so you're not stuck waiting for your food, as it's to-go only.

This place by far, is my favorite chinese food. I have been eating here since birth and continue to even though I live an hour away. People that don't like this place must have a palate more suitable for panda express. There is no glitz and glam, but that's the beauty of being a "hole in the wall".. and they don't deliver, but why should they?? It's worth the drive!

They have the nicest family running the joint and they cannot be any nicer.
Must haves: Special fried rice (my fave), EGG ROLLS (my fave), bbq sliced pork, house special chow mein (crispy or soft noodles), beef soo-chow (hubbys fave).

Like others, a 5 star posthumous review. . They had these crazy huge, wonderful meat stuffed egg rolls. Dipped in their hot, house made sweet and sour is what the ultimate indulgence. Bye and thank you.

Hot, fast and good no frills neighborhood Cantonese take-out joint. It's take out only, no tables, just a place to order and a place to wait. Probably not the spot for the high-maintenance customer looking for vegan customizations or asking if the chicken was raised in a loving environment and has a first name.

Chow Fun stir fried flat noodles with beef was tasty, with lots of bean sprouts giving it added texture.

If you live in the area you should definitely have their menu, along with your other favorite places menus. It's a good change-up from the great Japanese and Mexican places around Mar Vista/Venice.

      * A sad little waiting room that reminds me of a dentist's waiting room in the 70s.

      * Take-out only!!! Not, not as in no delivery, I mean there is NO eating your food there... no dining room... just a window in that odd waiting room. In fact the window is much like the window you'd check in at, in many old school dentist's offices. By the way, no delivery either.

      * Food is NOT traditional regional CANTON cooking... Don't let the name fool you.

I understand people that like this place; I have some quirky favorites, too. On that note, I'll pass on this place unless someone else insists on buying it for me.

      Beef Soo Chow: Not bad.
Cha-Shu (as they spell it): Meh.
Chicken Fried Rice: Actually not too bad.
      Cashew Chicken: Blech... Just awful.
Crispy Noodles with Chicken: The reason I no longer really come here*.

      * Replacing crispy noodles with those cheap pieces of crap you get at the white folks' super market will get you nailed every time. Yes, those little orange colored inch long "noodles" often found in sub-par Chinese Chicken Salads were what came in a little wax paper bag alongside my chicken and veggies.

If Chinese folks from the Canton region ate here, they'd probably be pretty pissed at what's been done to their mother cuisine. On the other hand, if you're a stoned college kid, this place is like the Domino's of Chinese food. It IS palatable to some.

My relationship with Canton Kitchen lasted less than a year, but that's not a surprise considering Panda Express rivals this place. In a pinch, Canton Kitchen will suffice, but I'd probably go many other places first.

When I think of the term "Neighborhood Joint", this is the place that immediately comes to mind. This is as Cantonese-American as it gets. Unassuming hole-in-the-wall. Unpretentious, humble seating area, take-out only, Chinese cooks, local flavor. Inexpensive, delicious eats.

Canton Kitchen is home for me. I grew up here. And like any process, once you find something that works, you stick with it. My entire life was spent eating a very different menu than most of the reviewers have revealed. Here is a list of the must-have items:

      1. Eggrolls - UNLIKE ANYTHING YOU'VE EVER EXPERIENCED. I'm serious. These incredibly thick eggrolls are stuffed with pork and vegetables, battered in a secret recipe, and deep-fried to crispy, oily goodness. Served with Chinese hot mustard, these are hands down the most DELICIOUS and unique eggrolls you'll find in LA. One bite and you'll understand what I mean. Eating these makes me understand a little more what it means to be Chinese-American (semi-joking).

      2. BBQ Spareribs: Sweet, juicy, sticky, delicious. These are slow-cooked in a delicious Char-siu recipe and come in orders of 4. They consider this an appetizer on the menu, but it can definitely serve as an entree. You won't regret it.

      3. Buddha's feast: yummy combination of baby corn, Chinese mushrooms, bean sprouts, carrots, water chestnuts, snow peas, and bamboo shoots. Saucy Cantonese goodness.

If you decide to give CK a chance despite what the yelp nay-sayers claim, you surely won't be disappointed. I know many Venice/Mar Vista locals who consider this place home. At least get an order of eggrolls!

Trivia: If you want a preview of the kitchen area, watch the film Rush Hour 2. CK is featured when Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker raid Don Cheadle's "Chinese Soul Food" restaurant. ;)

I have come to Canton Kitchen on my college friend's recommendation who grew up in the area. At first, I was scared because the restaurant is small and I am used to big, giant eateries like Irvine. But when I went in, the owner greeted me with a big smile and a handshake. My friend introduced me on a first name basis and I recently stopped by and he had remembered my name! But I'm not writing this review because of the nice man, but because the food is SOOOO GOOD!

The (eggrolls) are the best that I have ever had in my entire life. They are crispy, hot, and huge! They'll make your day if you are into hearty and filling meals, although heavy (not diet food!) I am a 110lb girl but yet I still get cravings for these gigantic mothers of culinary yumyum! So memorableeeeee. Even right now I am so hungry thinking about them...but I am in Orange Country :(((.

The prices are cheap and affordable for anyone. The food portions are also surprisingly large for the price. It reminds me of home and the food is also authentic. The beef broccoli is the way it should be cooked: canton style with lots of sauce, flavor, soft, tender, and almost like stew. You can't beat it when you eat a big spoon of it over steamed rice! The wonton soup is heartwarming and authentic, although a bit salty for those who are not used to the way real Chinese cook it. I like it though :)

I always get the Char Siu Ribs because you can't get them anywhere else and these babies will make you smile. Writing this review made me hungry! =) I would gladly drive for an hour to get the food!

My favorite go to place for amazing homestyle Cantonese!! I've been going here for past 20 years... I even worked there during HS for a bit... And once you work somewhere and see how it's made it either makes it or breaks it.... This place made it!!! Everything was fresh, clean, and made would care and attention to detail.

I recommend the special fried rice and egg rolls bc you can't get them like you do here anywhere else!! Trust me I've looked!!

My fail proof get over a cold is the wor wonton mein soup.... It's soo yummy and nostalgic of when I was a kid.. The broth alone is amazing!

There's nothing one he menu I don't like.. I moved away from here a few years ago and I still to this day go every chance I get...

I even make family get me my soup when I'm sick even to this day....
