I've been there twice. I love the margaritas, and the food tastes great. Last time I had the carnitas: steak with chimichurri. It was awesome!

Cantina Laredo offers a basic Southwestern food menu. In my opinion the food is a blend of Mexican and Tex-Mex. If you have traveled throughout the southwestern parts of the United States, you will understand the difference. One of my favorite design features is their semicircle bar. It brings conversation together, and I wish that more bars would do this. You can eat at the bar or one of the surrounding high-tops too if you do not want to sit in the dining room area. There is also an outdoor seating area when weather permits. The emphasis at the bar is on tequila-based drinks. I personally do not care for straight tequila, but if you like it, there are many "top shelf" varieties to select from. The bartenders are very knowledgeable about each one, and can recommend one to suit your taste.
The food menu offers basic appetizers and entree selections. Chips & salsa come out right away, and are very good. I happen to like their chicken and ground beef tacos. They are overpriced, but I'm sure that their rent is not cheap either. I cannot rant about how good the food is, because you can get better at a lot of places in Texas, Arizona, California, or New Mexico. BUT, the food is always fresh and good. Guacamole is made using ripe fruit and is excellent! The manager usually comes around to check on things, and I like that. It tells me, that repeat customer business is important to them. Service is usually very good too. There is one waitress that cannot ever seem to smile, and that is the only criticism that I have.
Cantina Laredo has outside dining on days/evenings in which the weather cooperates, which is nice and even more relaxing. Otherwise, you can come out smelling like food with all the sizzling fajita platters coming out of the kitchen. All in all, I like the Cantina very much. The food is good, drinks are made well, and the atmosphere is much better than most. -

Like most of the reviewers said - this is not your usual Mexican restaurant. The food is different from what most people expect Mexican fare to be.
Personally I was not a fan of the dish I got because of the above. I expected one thing and got something else. I thought I knew what chimichangas were like and what they were filled with, but was out of the norm for me here. I'm sure if one had a broader palate and is the type to eat anything, they would probably enjoy the food.
Aside from that, we all ordered the table side guacamole which was delicious and sooo fresh! We also ordered the queso for an appetizer that was amazing as well.
The specialty drink menu is fun, varied and quite good! I ordered a Mango Mojito which I loved.
It's a tad pricier than expected, but I still had a nice time. Service was quick and friendly. I think if I were to come back it would only be for appetizers and drinks.
Bottom line: It's a decent place to go if you want to try something new. -

This is not your average "mexican place". Go for the fabulous Top Shelf Guacamole made table-side, the best "skinny" margaritas (or the regular house Casa Rita) and order one of my two favorite dishes -- the Asada Y Camerones (marinated skirt steak with bacon-wrapped shrimp on top), or the Pascada Del Dia (fish of the day, which is sometimes a wonderful sea bass with creamy jalapeno sauce).
If you like gourmet, fresh-tasting mexican food, you will love this place! It's NOT your typical chimichangas and tacos (although they do have them, too!) It's so much better!
Oh -- and the Mexican Apple Pie is served warm on a sizzling skillet with delicious carmel sauce!! Yummmm! -

After ignoring the one in Columbus for many months before moving here, I wish I would have started coming here earlier. I often get carryout as I work close to here, and if I were to eat there, I think I would have to get one of their Margaritas too, so its better I don't. They have great lunch, and dinner. I really like the queso dip and desserts too.

Excellent salsas! Margaritas were bland. The bartender was in such a bad mood it made the experience painful. Manager had to come over and get our drinks.
Decided to skip dinner there and move to another place. Would likely give this place another try, just because of the salsa! The secret is always in the sauce. -

I gave this place a 3-star because of the slammin' margaritas. One word...yum.
I ordered the 3-course dinner for $15.99. I started off with a nice, light salad consisting of candied walnuts, blue cheese crumbles, green apple slices, and cranberries with a sweet cranberry vinaigrette. I thorougly enjoyed it as the flavors worked so well together.
For an entree, I ordered chicken flautas. They were very spicy, and the waitress recommended that I mix the guacamole/sour cream with it to tone down the heat. The flautas were fried to perfection as they were very light and crispy. However, if you have a big appetite, this entree would not fill you up due to the small portion.
Finally, I was looking forward to the grand finalie - warm apple crepe with vanilla ice cream. The waitress asked if I wanted a few minutes prior to dessert, and I said bring it on! It looked pretty on the plate yet it was hideous on the palatte. I opened the crepe to look inside, and it was just a mish mosh dish that they threw together to satisfy the 3-course deal. The apples looked like the dehydrated slices that you find in the grocery store. They just took these dry apple slices, sprinkled them wih cinammon and warmed them up. Then they just threw in a few dried cranberries (probably leftover from the salad I ate earlier), and put jarred caramel sauce on top. I took about 2 bites of it and pushed it away.
Also, it was amazing how sweet and friendly the waitress was when I first came in until when I was wrapping up to leave. She did a total 180 and all that niceness went away just in time for the check.
Finally, it's a lovely restaurant with great decor. Also, the epitome of every guy's fantasy was behind the bar - 2 tiny blondes with thick Eastern European accents. They were strategically placed to boost alcohol sales I'm sure. All in all, I would not return as I am certain you could get much more authentic, tasty, fresh food at much more reasonable prices. -

We came here on a Sunday night and were seated promptly. The service was friendly and efficient as our drink order was taken right away and the most delicious chips and salsas were delivered as we sat down. We dined on a combo of chicken and steak fajitas that were very good. The chicken was more flavorful than the steak but both were cooked to perfection as were the vegetables. The sides of rice and black beans were very tasty as well.
Overall we were pleased with our dinner from start to finish. My only small complaint would be that it's a bit pricey for Mexican but I wouldn't let that stop me from returning when I'm in the area. -

This is upscale Mexican that is pretty good. We started off with Margaritas which was fair and they served the main meal without waiting a proper time to enjoy our drinks. We then had the chicken and steak fajitas which were very good with large portions. My only complaint was the black beans were kind of syrupy. The ambiance of the place was excellent. Overall I would give them 3 1/2 stars.

Good food, not great. They are inconsistent, and for the price it's unfortunate that you never know what you are going to get. What you can always count on is a small drink for a big price. Don't skip the dessert, best part of the meal.

Over priced, mediocre food, rude service.
Skip this place and take your family to the Lake Worth Taco Trucks. The food is 10 times cheaper, 10 times more delicious, and the service - while it may be in spanish or broken english - is much nicer and appreciative than the snobby waiters at this place. -

This place strikes me as the Mexican version of a P.F. Chang's. The decor is similar in some ways, and the approach seems similar as well. It is not traditional Mexican food, but rather Mexican food with a twist that is trying to be upscale. Despite these factors, I am nonetheless awarding four starts. The reason is simple, and it is that I had a very enjoyable experience there. The food was tasty, and the service was extremely friendly. The prices were reasonable enough.
All in all, I had a good time, and I have no complaints, so despite the fact that these types of chains generally make my skin crawl, I am not going to award less stars just because it is a chain and for no other reason.
Rather than comparing this place to other Mexican restaurants, you should view it as a different type altogether, and isn't there room for both? If you agree, then you will probably like this one too. -

Anything is better than hotel food is my motto when I have to travel for work. Though it has been day 2 of an extended work trip, hotel grub is not sounding appetizing anymore. Our journey to Laredo was fine, but I thought the food was just blah. That or I ate too much salsa and chips (excellent by the way!) that I wasn't feeling my nachos, an appetizer choice, for dinner. They were not what I was expecting: chip pieces with melted cheese and pieces of chicken on top. Hmmm... Interesting nachos presentation. I added a bit of salsa for taste.
The frozen mango margarita I had helped as well. Doesn't a margarita help with everything?! Not exactly fine dining, but it's definitely a nice alternative to hotel grub that's close by. -

Great food! Better drinks! I love the mango margaritas here. YUMMY!!! Also, we love to get the Fiesta Grill fajitas. They have steak, chicken, quail, pork and all kinds of other stuff. It's HUGE! Also, believe it or not, one of the best sea bass dishes I have ever had. It's very light, but with a roasted poblano beurre blanc sauce. To die for!

My favorite!! I'm from Texas and this is a favorite one from back home. I live in Miami and when I found out that Palm Beach had a Cantina Laredo, I made the trek! And of course it was worth it!! This is a little bit of home in SoFla! FINALLY! Now they've opened another location at Hallandale at the The Village at Gulfstream...so a little closer :-) This is a casual place, but the restaurant is big and it's nice! Great bar scene! The margaritas - devine! My favorite dish is actually an appetizer - THE NACHOS! THE BEST, THE BEST, THE BEST!! I'm so happy they are here!!!!! This is real Tex-Mex!!!

Little more on the "gourmet" side for Mexican - not your mom n pop shop. Excellent food though, with very creative dishes and new flavors you might not expect from a typical Mexican restaurant. I highly recommend this place.

In the mood for gourmet mexican food? Try Cantina Laredo! Delicious...we started with the Casa Ritas (house margaritas), for appetizer we tried the top shelf guacamole which was made fresh at the table. This is served with fresh tortilla chips and 2 salsas, one cold and the other served hot. Nice-n-spicy.
Next we had Carnitas (braised pork shanks topped w/chipotle-wine sauce)...these literally fell off the bone! Flavorful with just the right kick to them. The beef fajitas came with all the fixings and were also yummy. Tampico was next, a grilled chicken breast topped w/sauteed artichoke hearts, mushrooms, spinach, red bell peppers w/sour cream-poblano sauce and monterey jack cheese. All dishes were served w/mexican rice and your choice of beans, black, refried or pinto.
Wanted to try the flan but had no room for desert. Good reason to return!
Our waiter was very funny, only problem was that he was a bit older and was serving several tables so he seemed to be too distracted and forgot a few things we requested. Noticed the manager had to pick up his slack.
Food was top notch and we will be returning! -

I really love this place!!! Now that I said that you're probably wondering why I gave it only 2 stars. Well its simple, the last experience I had the service was so bad it made me almost never want to go back.
On a positive note, Cantina Laredo is one of the best Mexican restaurants ever!! I, a person who could live off Mexican food every day, love this place because it's traditional Mexican food. They are expensive considering its a Mexican restaurant but I can order a regular taco instead of a Duck filled taco.
So now that you know the food is GREAT, the last time Chris and I went there it was lunch time and off season so the place was pretty empty. There were only a few business people there on lunch breaks or business lunches and so on. Chris and I, I believe were in our bathing suits and cover ups because as I recall we were rained out from Fishing. Our server was a woman in her mid 40's who took one look at us and knew that we weren't the type of table she would have liked. As an ex server I am very sensitive to that treatment since I used to treat everyone like they were Donald Trump and I made the tips to show for it. Any ways, we ordered the guacamole which they make table side. The lady looked as if she was going to fall asleep in the bowl of guacamole. Then when we ordered our food I asked what kind of beans we could get and she said only refried. I then asked if there was any other kind like a drunken bean since I know I had that before and she said "Yeah but they take along time". Well Momma I didn't ask how long they take I just wanted to know what kind you had. Chris gave me a look like Let it go. So we ordered and the food came out and it was great!! We then heard a lady yell "Is everything OK?". So we looked around thinking wow maybe the person at that table was deaf and the server had to yell at them, but no. It was our wonderful server yelling to us from across the dining room as she was serving another table. We were so shocked and so was the other table. And as if that wasn't the tackiest thing she could have done, she topped it off by walking over to our table with the check in one hand and her cell phone finishing up a text in the other.
I wish I could remember her name but I definitely know what she looks like so the next time I feel like letting them redeem themselves, if I see an older woman server, I'll have them switch my table. -

Came here a couple times. Writing from my experience of a couple days ago, I have to say I don't think this is "gourmet" mexican food. The restaurant itself is fine, but the quality of food is very basic and typical "chain" mexican restaurant feeling. The drinks and tableside guacamole were both goods. Of the three of us, none of us really enjoyed our entrees much. Tasted very flat and salty, and the enchiladas were a bit mealy. I think maybe the fajitas and simple things are the best here, along with drinks. Their sauces and meats were simply not flavorful and just sort of felt icky afterwards due to all the salt in the chicken. It's not a bad place..it's fine, but certainly wouldn't say gourmet. and don't think I will return.

Best Mexican restaurant in the area (vastly superior to Rosa Mexicano). Have been there a ton and never had a bad meal.

North Palm Beach, FL
Decent gourmet mexican but I wouldn't say it's the best in the area or better then Rosa Mexicano. Rosa Mexicano is a different style. The Cantina is gourmet mexican however it incorporates tex mex, whereas Rosa does not. Cantina is decent depending on want you order. The drinks are great including the margaritas. The guacamole is excellent and everything is else is gourmet tex mex with an expensive price tag. Every time I have gone the service has been very slow, the last time I went it took over 10 minutes just to clear the table before desert and took another 15 minutes just to get the bill. Because of all that I probably won't return.

I am from Texas. Moved here 3 1/2 years ago. This is the first real mexican place I have found since the move. Love it. Fresh squeezed juice in the margaritas! I will never get one made with a mix again. Guacamole made at the table. My server was funny and johnny on the spot. I recommend this place to everyone.
