It's too bad that small businesses like this have to jack up the prices of their merchandise in order to exist as a business in New York. Regardless, this is one of only a couple of places I go to purchase catfood, simply because they are one of only a handful of stores in the city that sells top-of-the-line naturally organic foods for cats (and dogs). I'm talking about brands that far exceed so-called "top" brands like Iams and Science Diet you'd find at PetCo or your local supermarket.
As for other accessories and specialty items for cats and dogs, The Natural Pet is way too overpriced. Frankly, the catfood I get here is way overpriced as well, but when it comes to my cat's nutritional intake no cost is too much.
Yay, I can finally go somewhere local to buy my beloved fuzz balls their food and have it delivered vs. ordering online and paying ridiculous shipping charges! Great selection of all natural, all organic dog and cat foods, friendly service, and, what I consider very reasonable prices if you factor in all costs necessary to get the stuff in your door........As I have two large golden retrievers, they eat a lot of food and finding the right one can be tricky. I am sooooo happy I finally found this place!
this is the place to go if you have a pooch that you want to spoil. it is a bit pricey, but in the land of super expensive anyway, it makes perfect sense. toys, excellent foods and vitamins, and great customer service! they insist what i believe about pets and kids alike.....common sense goes a long way. they will deliver without a growl, and never nip at your heels if you dont find what you want. they will tell you where you can find it. i do indeed love it when the true new york is atested to by the decency of a small shop owner.btw this place beats the crap out of petco.

Established in 2008
Canis Minor was founded in 2003 with the goal of creating a new concept in pet supply stores. We designed our stores to be truly "pet-friendly". Gone are the cluttered aisles, dirty floors, and unhelpful staff of the old notion of the pet store. We have set out to design a place where dogs, cats, and their owners can feel comfortable shopping together by creating a clean, home-like atmosphere.
We feel that we have created a whole new shopping experience through the creation of a totally immersive atmosphere for you and your pet. We hope that you come by and see the difference in the shopping experience we offer and that you leave with a whole new idea of what a pet store can be.
In 2007, we opened our Tribeca store at 177 West Broadway. We offer the largest and finest selection of pet products in downtown all with the convenience of free delivery 7 days a week.
In 2008, we opened our Gramercy Park store at 238 3rd Avenue.
