I stayed here while in the area on a business trip last week and it's not a bad place. You have your studio set up with a queen sized bed, recliner, tv, table, kitchen, fridge and maid service only on certain days, not every day.

I just have 1 complaint. I can totally hear the people that were staying upstairs. I can hear them getting out of bed, walking to the bathroom and walking back to bed. I heard them getting up early to pack up and leave, I even heard them coming back late. That was no bueno.... Minus 1-star

We looked and looked for a nice hotel to stay at for a quick weekend trip up to Boston last summer (7/21-7/22/07).  I had found a good deal at the Cambridge Marriott which would have been in the heart of the city, but unfortunately the deal was only for the weekend after ours. Forlornly, we stumbled across website after website searching in vain. Tourist season in Boston was in full swing and hotel after hotel was booked solid or unreasonably priced. Then came Candlewood Suites. Our savior!

Candlewood Suites is located in Braintree, which is a bit outside Boston but not too far. I booked two rooms for about $170 total for one night, which was an incredibly deal. (Second room was for a good co-worker friend I invited who had been looking for an overdue mini-vacation for his family). Each room was described as a queen bed studio suite with a fully equipped kitchen, recliner and cookware, which sounds good on paper, but Candlewood Suite was not a hotel I'd heard of before. An unknown hotel with a low summer rate? We'd either have a really great night's sleep or a really bad one.

However, the hotel was tucked away in a more isolated area, but it was fairly easy to find and had a good sized parking lot. The hotel turned out to be very well kept. The front office was very nice and took a considerable length of time giving customers directions and sightseeing advice, requested or not. The rooms were very clean. Comfortable bed, full kitchen, and clean floors. I could also look out the window and see my car in the parking lot, not that I needed to. *Sigh of relief* We found ourselves a nice little gem at a killer price.

On the ground floor, there's a laundry room and snack room. It's the same room. The snacks are on a honor policy. That is, you take what you want and write on a slip what you took and how much. Drop the slip in the bin and the charge will added to your room bill upon check out. (I was honest). =p

Of course, there's no point to staying here if you can't get into downtown Boston. Fear not. The T station was a short 5 minute drive away. The parking garage had abundant space and for $5 for the whole day, not a bad deal.

It'd been my first time back to Boston since graduation three years ago (at the time). It was to be a rather poignant trip to see familiar places still there and old haunts long since vanished. Still, it was nice to provide a quick vacation and see visiting relatives. As testament to the hotel, my friend's two year old remarked "i don't want to go home. let's go back to the hotel" at the end of the trip. ;-)

Finding a hotel in downtown Boston this past weekend was almost impossible. It is peak season and the tourists are about so finding a room at a reasonable cost in the heart of the city wasn't going to happen. Braintree isn't too far from downtown Boston and there's a station where you can take the T in so we decided to look for a room there.

The Candlewood Suites was a good deal.. $85 on a Saturday night? There was no way I was going to beat that price. However, because the price was so low, I felt some trepidation towards the quality of the room. So I was pleasantly surprised when the hotel turned out to be clean and well appointed as was the room. Our room was very clean with a full kitchen. The walls were a bit thin, not enough to hear people in the next room but to hear the water running through the pipes when they turned on their faucets... We had free HBO and I happily tuned into watch 'Big Love' before falling asleep.

There's a laundry facility downstairs as well as a small gym and a 24 hour convenience store. The T station is a 5 minute drive away where you can park your car for $5 and take the train into Boston.
