Easy to organize but when I went to drop it off they were rude and unhelpful. I came alone to drop it off and was double parked so I asked if they could come bring the trolly right outside the door because it was a heavy speaker and the man was very VERY rude.

Our Brooklyn-based design studio, Isometric, worked with Canal Sound & Light for a comprehensive lighting, projection, and sound scope for a temporary internal exhibition at the Google headquarters in New York.

Jeff and his team were super helpful and very collaborative: he sat down with us to draw up a lighting and projection plan and to spec out each piece of equipment to match our budget.

They also made sure everything was properly installed on time and managed over the weeklong exhibition.

The exhibition was awarded the top Honor Award by the Society for Experiential Graphic Design in 2020.

This place has a huge stock of "dead-stock" (i.e.: brand new in packaging, but no longer manufactured) Stanton DJ cartridges and styluses from the 1990's which are the standard for Technics 1200 DJ turntables. They also sell on eBay, where they have the most competitive prices, and if you go to their brick and mortar store here, you don't have to pay shipping.

They also have a MASSIVE amount of sound and light gear for rent for events of any size, and people seem to love them for this as well, going on decades now. This place is an NYC treasure !

Love this place. I get my dj gear here. Their prices are competitive and they always have the latest gear. I like to look before I but, so seeing the gear in person helps me decide which equipment works good for me. I recommend that if you need good equipment go to Canal Hi Fi.

There are too many good things to say, how can I even begin? Plain and simply, Canal Sound & Light is the ONLY choice for AV I will ever go with.

I initially spoke with Jeff and Gabriel. They were professional, courteous, and downright human. They helped me identify the exact needs for my event (a corporate one) and exceeded expectations! They made me look REALLY good at work. This screen and sound setup was the most professional I had ever seen for a corporate event.

These people know AV in and out. They will make you look so professional and prepared, and take your AV needs ...to 11. (If you haven't seen Spinal Tap.. taking it to 11 is a really good thing). I wish I could give them 6 out of 5 stars.

The Canal Sound and Light crew are top notch. My company has used them for AV services for some corporate town halls as well as to troubleshoot soundsystem issues at our various locations. Jeffrey is easy to work with and his team goes above and beyond. He always comes up in a pinch when we would throw last minute curve balls.
When it comes to gear they know their stuff and if you need rentals they provide that too at great rates.

I will preface by saying that I am hard to please, extremely detail-oriented and don't write many reviews. I prefer to convey my praises for a job well done directly to the person rendering the services. In this instance, I am making an exception because I want all brides-to be - or anyone considering using Canal Sound and Light for their event - to know how outstanding they are.

I was willing to splurge on lighting to make my wedding reception that much more memorable. I looked at several companies and was frustrated with the ridiculous disco lighting that would do nothing but cheapen the aura of my wedding. I had a specific vision in mind....that is when I came across an article about a celebrity wedding planner in NYC and the lighting company she used for her own wedding - Canal Sound and Light. I figured this was a good lead. And from the moment I contacted Jeff and Gabriel, I knew I had found the real deal. Gearheads, techies, professional and totally on point!! I'm not even exaggerating. We met at the venue and immediately they were able to understand the vision I had and even provided technical recommendations (as true professionals do) as to how I can further enhance the atmosphere with lighting. Throughout the wedding planning, they were super responsive. Seriously, I would receive a response to my" bridal queries" (I will admit to that) and super detailed emails the same day or within 24 hours. In addition, they were super calm - priceless when planning a wedding. They worked well with all my other vendors (music, venue, flowers, baker etc.) They did an amazing, amazing job! My husband and I could not have been happier with the outcome. We see it most in the photos!! Although, during the reception they pinspotted the centerpieces beautifully, the wedding cake and my dad as he made the toast. They even helped me to select a perfect monogram to display on the dance floor all evening as well as select the perfect "stars" for the ceiling. Just gorgeous!!! And the photos were that much more amazing! Listen, you're not going to find a better company to light your venue and/or event. We definitely plan to make Canal Sound and Light our go to lighting company for all our future events. Jeff and Gabriel - thank you!

Staff is so helpful and knowledgeable - i have attended several events where they have done the lighting and sound - awesome - very friendly staff!
Also they carry a lot of retail product. Just purchased a couple of HDMI cables for my home.
Highly recommend!
