This is quite a popular park for runners, walkers, and bikers, especially on the weekends. Parking can be a bit of a challenge if you don't get there early. You can find street parking nearby, but just be careful of where you park. Campbell Police do patrol the area.

This is a great park for running as the trails are paved and it connects to the Los Gatos Creek Trail. The trail has 1/4 mile markers along the ground to help you gauge your distance. There is some shade along the trail, but not a whole lot. The trail can get crowded too. If you cross over the bridge and stay on the trail to the left it seems to be less crowded, but probably because there is less shade on that side?

This park is a different entryway onto the Los Gatos Creek Trail. I usually go to Los Gatos High to run the trail, but once in awhile I like to come here to give myself something different than my usual run.

Parking here can be a hassle here on the weekend, so you may want to come early if you are on a tight schedule. There are basketball courts, a kiddie playground, and a grassy area.

My perfect Sunday is run 4-5 miles and then head to the farmer's market down the street. Just reward yourself with yummy fruit, pastries, and vegetables. Very relaxing.

If you are training for a 1/2 marathon like I am and want to get in some street running, this is a great place.  The cement trails are nice and flat for the most part and very scenic.  The weekends draws in the crowds but it doesn't ever feel that crowded on the trails cause there are 2 sides.

You'll find a lot of marathon runners who aren't shy about wearing the T-shirt they got from their last or favorite marathon but you'll also find lots of walkers and bikers too so no need to be hard core.  This trail goes all the way to Vasona park in Los Gatos.  I've actually never ran the entire trail but I have biked it.  I'm not sure how long the actual trail is but after biking to Vasona, I really didn't want to bike it back to campbell park.

But you don't have to be on the trail to enjoy this park.  There is something for everyone.  There is a basketball court and I always see many guys playing.  A playground full of kids and their moms.  A dog park is down aways about 3/4 of a mile on the trail but you can drive there if you'd prefer not to walk.  A casting pond is near the dog park if you want to get some practice in and you'll find a lot of families fishing around the pond a little aways from the casting pond.

Parking is limited but I've never had problems finding parking pretty close....oh except one time they actually had a little 10K or maybe 1/2 marathon? on the actual trail...gotta find out when that is so I can sign up.

On Sundays, downtown Campbell has a nice farmers market, so go for an early run then walk the street of downtown Campbell while you wait for your breakfast/brunch at Stacks (popular spot).

The Los Gatos Creek Trail is a great walk when you need to get some air. Throughout the trail there are rest stops with different exercises to do. I usually go with a friend. I definitely feel the workout in my legs when I'm done with the trail so it does the job.

Most of the time the people on the trails are joggers or walkers with the occasional bikers. There was a homeless man smoking pot on a bench one time I went.

Parking can sometime be a hassle. I went once on a Friday around noon and there was no parking, while I went on a Sunday around 2 and there was plenty of parking.

You will never see a 12 year old writing a review of this park, but having grown up here for a spell back when I was 12, I'm going to step back into 1984 for a minute to explain what kind of a gateway Campbell park was to us back then.

Campbell has 2 sides to it with Highway 17 running straight down the middle.  I grew up on what would be the Southeast end of Campbell near the apartments on the Campbell San Jose border.

Now for most Campbell kids, you might have a friend with a pool, or you might belong to a community pool.  Me, Manny, Dino, Kevin, Kevin, Mike, Sonny, Jim, Matt, Joe (yes we had a HUGE crew then) were all GHETTO.  We had none of that, and that's what made us close.  Compared to all the other kids in their shiny new clothes and cliques, we were our own clique.

One day Manny came up talking wildly about jumping off a wall at Campbell creek.  "OMG MY COUSIN BRUCE JUST JUMPED OFF THE WALL INTO THE CREEK!"

We all ventured down there.  Some of us tried it, and loved it.  By the end of summer in 1984 we had graduated from the little wall at the Delta Queen Car wash to the huge slide/dam up near Camden av and various points in between.  We had a nice crew going by then.  Other kids would form their own creek jumping groups and we would judge each other on varying skills such as hang time, spin, splash, and height.  We would also play a games of tag, using the wall as a gigantic way of escape.

There was an abundance of wildlife as well.  We used to catch 100's of crawdads, frogs, bluegill, carp.

1985 the hills of Los Gatos were set ablaze by the Lexington fire.  The very first rain after the fire we all realized something...

The creek had dramatically changed.

What was once a vibrant, clear, almost good enough to drink out of creek was now suddenly brown.  The fire had burned away most of the hillside brush above the Lexington reservoir.  We had a huge storm that winter too.  Like a bunch of nuts, me and my friend all donned wetsuits and tried to ride the rapids during the storm on our boogie boards.  I remember seeing giant logs floating next to me.  At one point I got caught on something so I could wait for my friends, and logs were floating past my head.  I would duck down to dodge logs.  A good sized log smacked my forhead.  I was dazed, but quickly shook it off realizing that I was in real danger and couldn't stop the ride till it was safe to get out.

After that winter the creek was devastated.  The plants sort of lived, but most of the animals started to die off.  The creek was constantly brown and silted after that.

We had another reunion there in 1986.   Dino didn't see the underwater cement piling because the water was murky, and crushed his kneecap when he landed on it from a top bridge jump.

This park was my gateway to the Los Gatos creek system, which I've explored from Wrights Station to Alviso. I'll always have fond memories of this park and the friends I explored it with.

Whenever I steal someone's dog this is where I take them.  As a dog you have simple requests:

-plenty of things to smell
-long runs of grass
-plenty of things to pee on
-water to play in
-an abundance of other friendly dogs

Done, and done.  This park has it all (except for a lot or parking).  And above all, its clean. No puppy mud here.  Well, none that I've ever stepped into at least.

Don't have a dog or hate dogs (which also means something is wrong with you) you can head to the sweet b-ball courts or tetanus-free playground.  I nearly made myself sick yesterday spinning on that merry-go-round of a mechanism on the playground....and it was worth every nauseous rotation.

This place rocks!  I meet friends here for running and it's just fabulous.  It's near Downtown Campbell, has a clean bathroom, and plenty of parking.

The creek trail is really beautiful and scenic.  It's very long and you can run for hours on the trail.  There are mile markers too!  I love that I always see an occasional cat or raccoon on the trail.

If you run here at night, it's wise to bring a light.  It's just plain scary and I slipped twice in the tunnels when I ran at night.

Ease of Parking: Plenty
Amenities: Good, lacks grills
Letting me forget I live in Si Valley: Good

We started our rollerblading excurision on the Los Gatos Creek trail here this past weekend.

Great, well kept park with plenty of kids running around.  Lots of play equipment including a merry-go-round.

What won me over was the overhead sprinker for those hot summer months in south bay. Can we say auto-matic sprinkler memories from my childhood backyard?

Campbell Park has a great trail that runs into Vasona and Los Gatos High School. Pretty nice, scenic trail for running and walking, they even have dirt/sand trail next to the concrete if variety is needed. Plenty people use this trail all day long, from the early mornings until dusk time.

Only problem is the over-excited cyclist that hit the runners for their warm-up.

The park itself has basketball courts, kiddie playground,  and small grassy area for lounging.

I live right around the corner, my friends and i just started running and I LOVE this trail. There are 2 sides so it tends to filter out the people making it seem less crowded. It's beautiful  and makes running less painful =)

I only go here to play ball, they got two full courts running til 10pm. Supposedly this place has the best competition around the area. I've been here twice and there's usually a game running. We played a couple pick up games last time we went. Good competition, nice courts, not a fan of the rims. Nice park too, tons of people there. It has trails, a kids area. When it's packed, parking can be a bitch. One of the cleaner parks I've been to. They even have a soda machine between the two courts, great idea genius. +37824 stars for buncha milfs running around.

Seeing as I live a mile away from this park, I've got to review it.  Main highlight is the pair of bball courts that are lit until 10pm...very convenient for someone like me who can't get out of work until 8:30 from January through April.  There's also alot of other things you can do here, but the only thing is that you aren't technically allowed to bring your dog on the park.  I still do though, like most other people.  Overall a great park.
