10 reviews for Campbell Inn
Stayed here while in town last weekend for HS reunion.
The staff was friendly and the service was exceptional.
We had a great room for a great price. The breakfast buffet was delicious. I especially enjoyed the heated pool. I wished that it was open past 10 pm but that is pretty typical.
The kids had a lot of fun playing speedminton on the tennis court. I didn't get to explore the bike/jogging path that runs right alongside the hotel and the Los Gatos creek, but I could tell that it was very popular by how many people I saw passing by. I heard that the hotel has bikes that you can borrow too.
It is right by the freeway, but I didn't hear the noise from inside the room, just out in the parking lot.
I also liked how it was close to downtown Campbell and the Pruneyard shopping center. I had no problem walking home from nights of drinking in both areas. The surrounding area seems very safe.
I had stayed here about 2 years ago and it was pretty nice, so when I had a special friend coming to visit from outta state I thought it would be nice to stay there again... wrong!
Bed was EXTREMELY uncomfortable, we were both up just about all night, toilet had problems, shower didn't heat up enough and their free breakfast (thank goodness it was free...) was so gross it made us both pretty sick for that day.
It is affordable and close to a lot, 1 star for that...
My wife and I rented the Breakfast room for $200, which was a very good price and now we see why, for our wedding reception. Matt was a lot of help. He would get 5 starts but we are rating the hotel right now. They did help us out a lot that is why they are getting 2 starts and not 1. They did let us use the staff fridge for our flowers to store over night. We brought a lot of things to use for the reception and they needed it the night before. Matt did a wonderful job setting up. The only thing that went missing was the cake stand. It was no where to be found. It is gone now. The room is very pretty seats about 40 people. It was just the right size for our wedding. They have a nice walk path where we took photos.
My wife parents had stayed the night there. They said the customer services was not great at all. The breakfast was ok.....they had encountered a problem that you should NEVER EVER get!
It was around 5 am. My wifes parents were going out side and there was a man in the hot tub. A NAKED MAN! He got up really fast and ducked in the bushes. We found out the he was the GENERAL MANAGER!!!! When we complained everyone was shocked. We think they think we were lying. No one had ever complained of this problem before.
Also we was stalking around our reception. It has upset my wife. He was drinking our coffee and someone told her that he was eating our food. He kept walking around the pool and staring at all of us. It was really scary. Now to think of it I am going back to one star. We will NEVER stay at this place again or rent their breakfast room.
Campbell Inn is a good value. The front desk staff were friendly and knowledgeable and gave us all kinds of information, maps, etc. The Pruneyard is just a block away with shopping, eating & entertainment.
Our junior suite was very spacious. There was a real working fireplace (not those electric ones with the fake logs), a desk, separate seating area, small fridge, microwave, and a jaccuzzi tub. I was looking forward to using the tub and was not disappointed!. The room was a bit outdated, but it had a homey feeling. I bet my dad would love it here! The only frustrating thing was the two bedside lamps didn't work and I brought a book to read & relax with. I moved one of the other lamps in the room to the side of the bed.m Problem solved.
Breakfast was pretty tasty, lots of options, both hot & cold. Fruit, meats, eggs, lots of different breads, coffee, juice...something for everyone. I think some soft music in the seating area would make it a little nicer ambiance.
The Campbell Inn also offers a shuttle van to the San Jose Airport. A plus for travelers!
If I never experience the Campbell Inn again, it will be too soon! GROSS GROSS GROSS!!! This hotel has gone down hill faster than a fat guy in a snow tube. I stayed here twice before in the past 5 years and NEVER have I EVER witnessed what I have witnessed within the past 8 days. My mom and dad are visiting me from Pennsylvania and I put them up in the Campbell Inn (Please forgive me, mom and dad...please don't hate me). Other than a few discrepancies with a few of the staff members who are "not the brightest bulbs in the bunch," things got off to just an OK start. The complimentary "European Style" breakfast, once again, can be described as just OK. You can get a breakfast equal in quality just by driving a half mile down the road to Denny's. The location is pretty nice. There's a bike / walk / jogging trail right behind the parking lot which has a pretty nice scenic overlook. But this is definitely not enough for me to succumb even my worst enemy to this place ever again! Here's where the BEST part of my review comes in...you ready for this....I THINK THERE WAS A TOILET CONVENTION IN TOWN THAT CRASH LANDED IN THE CAMPBELL IN PARKING LOT!!! Yes, you heard me...no exaggeration. (I have some lovely pictures that I wanted to post but Yelp does not yet give the option to do so for this business). It was around Monday evening, I believe, when it all begin. I pulled into the parking lot to drop my parents off after an evening of dinner and socializing,.....when..what do we have here...About 2 HUGE trucks unloading toilets into the parking lot RIGHT smack in front of my parents' door. Whatever! I understand even hotels must maintain and upkeep the "facilities," however, when it takes 4 days (yes, folks..it is now FRIDAY) to complete this "mission" of the toilet circus, we have problems. There was a USED toilet (presumably) pulled from a (hopefully) vacant room sitting SMACK in front of my mom and dad's door for 3 days straight. I think it may have been a popular hang out for the employees because one night, my dad caught a Campbell Inn worker sitting on this used toilet (still outside their ROOM) on his cell phone having an intriguing half hour conversation. Not only was this toilet hanging out for a few days...but some nasty green gunk that had fallen out of the toilet stayed in front of their door (still there by the way) on the ground. We have to constantly be mindful of not to step in this smear of 10 year old human waste that lies outside of their abode every time we depart for a meal. Very appetizing. Not only is the toilet circus in town..but the Campbell in does not believe in cleaning their pool or hot tub. The dirt pile that lies on the bottom of the jacuzzi has accumulated to about 2 inches thick and nicely squishes between your toes as you enter and exit the water. Also, when I called the front desk to inquire as to WHY my mom and dad's blanket on the bed had the SAME cigarette burn in it for 4 days in a row... I was informed that for "stay over" guests...blankets to not get changed. ???????.......???? by "stay over" guests, is this opposed to "hourly guests" ?? I'm confused. Whatever....cough up about $30 more dollars a night and SAVE and your STOMACH by going just a few hundred yards over to the Pruneyard Inn. It will be well worth it. Yuck. BTW....we plan on complaining tomorrow once we check out. I will update. This ought to be good.

I stayed here with my sweetheart for Valentine's Day before we realized that Campbell isn't as far away from San Jose as we orginally thought. We wanted to go somewhere nice that wasn't too far away from downtown San Jose, but wasn't as expensive as Santa Cruz so hurray Campbell!
The room was clean and comfortable but needed to be updated, I agree with the other reviewer about the 80's decor - it's okay but really should be given a makeover.
We had a whirlpool tub in our room that didn't work, but the rose petals on the bed, the chocolates and champagne they left in the room made up for it. Since the whirlpool tub didn't work, we enjoyed the outdoor hot tub in a nice little wooden alcove beneath the trees.
Breakfast in the morning was pretty good and much better than I expected. The seating area where the breakfast is served was nice too.
Good value, but the price I paid included a working whirlpool tub and I didn't get that, so I had to knock off a couple stars.

My husband's company placed us here for a stay. I like the location. Our room had a frig and microwave which was nice because I was able to buy some things from Trader Joe's which was around the corner. The breakfast wasn't too bad- it was edible and they were super nice when they allowed us to check in at 7am and check out late. I did notice a some unsavory types lingering around the parking lot but that could be from the park across the street. Overall, it seems like a nice, clean, and quiet place to stay in that area.
Good:
Front desk staff were very friendly and welcoming
clean rooms
location next to Prune Yard
OK:
bed marginally comfortable
80's decor in room
Bad:
Mosquitoes in the pool
While the room decor is very dated and parts of walls had paint colors that didn't match, for the price you pay a night you can't expect it to be perfect. The location was very convienent and the ability to have both coffee and a fridge in your room is great. The included breakfast was a plus just get there early if you don't want cold picked over eggs. Our room location was ideal, just a short walk to the pool and parking, plus the ice machine was mere feet from our room was just way too convienent. Best part was it was only $30 extra for our dog to stay with us and the trail behind the hotel gave us a great route to the park to walk her. What prevented it from getting a higher rating from me was that we had to go at least every other day to get the key cards reactivated, they said it was due to being next to cell phones, but even when we kept them far from them the cards would deactivate, it was terrible to have to go down to the office at 1 am b/c your key deactivated while you were taking your dog out to pee. Other downside is the spa was hit and miss as far as heat goes, one day the pool was warmer than the spa, and only half the jets work.
The person on the phone when I made a reservation was great and the person who checked us in was nice also.
The place is very nice and would have gotten 4 stars if it wasn't for a few details like a stain on the sofa, mismatched glasses and the water wasn't hot enough in the shower.
The hottub in the room was nice, the room was clean and I wouldn't mind staying there again.
