9 reviews for Camellia Inn
Stayed here just this past weekend. My boyfriend and I decided to celebrate our anniversary by heading up to wine country for the weekend. Neither of us had stayed in a B&B before and we're recommended to by a friend because she had such a wonderful experience here.
I do have to preface this review by letting everyone know that I threw my back out a week ago and was still in pain over the weekend we stayed.
We stayed in the room Tiffany. It is secluded from the rest of the house, and has it's own private entrance as well as porch. The room was really nice looking, with a king size bed, fireplace, jacuzzi hot tub. The bed itself was a little soft to my liking (which caused some back problems for me the second night) but was still really comfortable. The pillows we slept on were down and you could sink right into them.
The jacuzzi tub was huge. I ended up spending a lot of time in there because the pressure from the jet was soothing on my back. The shower head itself gave a lot of pressure which again was soothing to my back.
Other features included breakfast (obviously), a cocktail hour with wine from their cellar (Camellia Cellars), and an assortment of snacks. There is also a pool/patio in the back, which guests have access to. There was also a TV room and free wireless internet, which is accessible in the rooms. We didn't really participate in the breakfasts in the morning (we aren't big breakfast people) as well as cocktail hour on the second night of our stay because we already have plans. The weather was also cool and comfortable so we didn't use the pool as well. The internet was a bonus for us because we ended up downloading a movie on iTunes on the second night and it didn't take too long.
Lucy, the woman in charge of running the inn is very friendly and knowledgeable. She was eager to answer any questions we had, as well as provide suggestions and information about dining in the area and wineries that may be good to go to. The location itself is perfect walking distance around downtown and nearby restaurants. It is close to some wineries, however if you are looking to go towards the Dry Creek area, you would need to drive.
Overall our stay was very enjoyable (with my crappy back and all). I personally don't think I would take my kids (if I had kids) to a place like this just because it doesn't seem like the kind of environment that would be fun for a kid (I could be wrong on this one). I didn't feel pressured to participate in the events that were offered by the inn, nor did I feel like I was an outcast because I choose not to participate. My stay there was very relaxing and enjoyable and I would gladly come back and stay there again for another weekend getaway.
Perfect place to visit for the weekend. If you need to hang your hat in a place this is it! Do not worry if you do not know where to go, Lucy is there to assist. Best B&B I have visited in a long time and if in Healdsburg you must put this at the top of your list. Fantastic!
A conveniently located B&B within two blocks from the center of downtown Healdsburg. Lucy the Innkeeper does a marvelous job of assisting with itineraries for dinner, wine tastings and in my case horse back riding. I found the inn to be quaint and quiet.
Stayed in the apartments. We were permitted to use the pool and enjoy the wine tasting at the inn. Both were wonderful. We also got to enjoy the cookies! Only thing is no breakfast for us.
As for the apartment, it is right next door to Cyrus. The apartment is two rooms, with a living room and kitchen. It is fully stocked and could comfortably house at least four adults. Its clean, but a little dark.

Quaint, picturesque inn, just off the main drag, with a nice pool, fresh-baked cookies in the afternoon, and wine and snacks in the evening.
Friends and I stayed at the inn's two bedroom apartment, located about three blocks from the inn on the other side of Healdsburg Avenue. The apartment is nice and very clean, but kinda old and outdated. The furniture is a bit worn, but there is free internet access (the computer is VERY slow), cable TV and a combo DVD/ VHS player (kids, ask your parents what a VHS is).
The apartment is not very soundproof, and we could hear someone blasting club music at 9am on Saturday morning. I think it came from one of the kitchens downstairs from us. You also can hear the shower and toilet flushing through the bedroom wall.
Still, the kitchen is well stocked with all the glasses, dishware, utensils, cookware, coffee pot, etc., you'd need for a short or long stay. There is a fridge, stove and dishwasher. And there is an outdoor patio, with an umbrellaed table and chairs, where you can sit and drink coffee or wine. The apartment is very private.
FYI: you can't park your car at the inn's parking lot if you stay at the apartment (space issues), and there are 3 hour parking restrictions every day of the week, including Sundays and holidays, on most streets closest to Healdsburg Avenue. So, park on streets with no restrictions a little further away and you're fine.
Also, breakfast is not included if you stay at the apartment (space issue again), which wasnt a big deal to me.
Pool located at the inn is a good size, and there are lots of chairs and lounges to relax on and read a book. There are lots of trees and flowering plants by the pool, and a covered trellis area if you desire shade. They put out iced tea for us in the afternoon while we relaxed.
I definitely plan to stay here again.
Cute bed and breakfast in downtown Healdsburg. We arrived shortly after 4pm to a house filled with the scent of freshly-baked chocolate chip cookies. Upon check-in we were told to make ourselves comfortable in any of the main living rooms. Wine (from their winery) and cheese were served in the main living room at 5.30pm. It was a great way to relax and enjoy the House.
The House is actually the site of the old Healdsburg Hospital. This place is very historic and yet is modern and clean in its finishing. Very inviting and warm.
We stayed in the "Firelight" room, which had its own fireplace and bathroom. again, very cozy and welcoming.
We will be back!

Beautiful inn/B&B, located within two blocks of the plaza and its many shops and restaurants. Grounds are lovely and nice pool area where they served wine and cheese. Very friendly and helpful staff, nice comfortable rooms (great beds/sheets) and wonderful full breakfast (eggs, fruit, breads and croissants, etc.). Definitely would stay here again!
The Camellia Inn is a wonderful 1869 Italianate Victorian , just 2 blocks from the square in Healdbsburg. The Inn is family owned and operated, and has a great staff, they are professional and helpful without being overbearing. The main house is great architecturally, with 2 fireplaces in the main room, and moldings you just do not see anymore. Some rooms are in the main house, and some rooms are around back, still attached by a breezeway, most likely old kitchen and carriage areas. The fixtures and fabrics in the rooms are not first class(alas 1 star removed). The breakfast is great, a very nice way too start a fun Sonoma day. The area has so much to offer, shopping, dinning, wine, water sports. Healdsburg is my favorite weekend get away.....and the Camellia in is my first choice for lodging.

Not only is this charming B & B one block off the plaza of Healdsburg (and therefore a short walk to some of the best restaurants and shops), but they have the best sheets I have ever slept in. Rough estimate - 600 count, maybe more. My partner, whose opinion I always value, estimated 800 count. You get the idea - soft, silky, smooth, but not slick like satin. This made it a tough decision to get up and go for my scheduled bike wine tours, or shopping or eating ( but I persevered). We also got the three night special ( the third night was half off), and Lucy, who runs the joint, threw in a complimentary bottle of her own vintage for two of those nights ( pretty decent wine compared to all the competition from the other local wineries). The breakfast was excellent, though we found that waiting for one-half hour after the 8:30 am start time was better, as the large 12 seated dining table often is filled early on. They have a nice cobbled parking spot in the back, and secure spots to park our bikes in the garage. Yeah, we'll be back for sure. Minus one star for the slow dial-up, and our room, though cozy with the gas fireplace, had only a shower - no tub for the post-ride soaks.
