Fantastic local library.  Let's see what don't they have??  Uh.... that would be nothing.  They have it all.

Meeting rooms for neighborhood get togethers, or just your girlfriends needing more space for scrapbooking (out of the house and away from kiddos)?  Got it.

    Computers?  Got those.

Quiet fireplace to sit and read a good book on a rainy day?  Got that.

Story hour for children?  Yup - got that too.

Comfy chairs to sit and just enjoy the afternoon?  Everywhere.

Helpful employees, ready to assist you in finding just the right book?  Lots of those.

Totem Pole?  Check - even one of those!

Books?  Of course, and movies, magazines, etc.  - what a silly question.

The Camas Library may be in a small town complete with helpful, courteous staff - but they have every ammenity you would want and more in a library.  Truly the jewel of Camas.

The past several months this place has been my second home. Yes, that's right...a small town library. This is the nicest of the the Fort Vancouver Regional Library District. Just like Michelle H. said, it was one spendy building.

There are two entrances that lead into the help desk and checkout stations. There are many computers in the center room or you can go into the teen or child rooms for even more. Granted, the children's room computers are meant only for children. Even though I've been "living" there I'm pretty sure I haven't seen any child on them. Way to be resourceful. There are also loads of DVDs, VHS, and CDs that you can check out. I haven't taken advantage because lets face it, a lot of it is pretty outdated but hey, I've heard through the grapevine that there aren't any late fees on the movies! So I guess if you can't afford Hollywood Video, Netflix, or anyother form of renting...I guess movies from the 90s are A-Okay.

One fantastic thing about this being part of the Fort Vancouver Regional Library District is you can get any books from the other libraries sent here for pick up.

I plan on having this be my second home for awhile longer. I stilll have to read many more of those 60,000+ books!

On this north side of the river, this library is the best and most beautiful by far.  I'd like to hope so considering the 8 million dollar bond it took to build it.

The layout is spacious, clean, and modern.  Your sense of smell is immediately met by that of the 60,000+ books that adorn the shelves.  Computers are sprinkled throughout to aid in research or to use at your leisure.  A research area is located centrally for easy access to resources, copiers, printers, etc.  The first few prints/copies are free if it's from that area.  Otherwise it's still a great low price.  Cushy seats are available for you to plop down in as well as tables to get your work done.  Upstairs there are also some study rooms and meeting rooms.

This library is on the Fort Vancouver library system so you can request books from other libraries and have it sent over for your convenience.  There is a self-checkout area if you don't really want to wait to get out, and there is also the ability of holding or renewing your books online if you don't want to head into the library.

The only downfall to this place is the hours.  They close early on Friday and Saturday nights (6pm) and are closed completely on Sunday.  Those kinds of hours are crucial to those of us going to school.

I grew up in Camas, and lived at this library.  Miss Curry was always there for me, suggesting good books to read.  At that time we went to the library from the school (Central) that is now  replaced by the nursing home.  The whole upstairs was the kids' section. This library never disappoints....

The "rude" comment about architecturally not fitting into Camas' makes me laugh.  This library was half library and half fire department!  Yes, the fire department that is across the street was half of the brick building until it outgrew its space.  The close Safeway was built in the 70's and took over many homes.  Okay, the neighborhood was not like the homes on the hill, but times they were a changin!  The Camas Hotel was torn down and replaced by the bank....architecturally you have no idea how downtown Camas has changed.  But I digress from the library....sorry.

I live in California (not by choice), and brought my kids to visit my Mom during the summers.  My kids walked (all by themselves) to the library and each of us got a Camas library card, using her address.  My kids were never bored....they too walked to the library for the computer, books, movies and novelty of having anything they wanted right there.  Weird kids?  Both are Cal  (UC Berkeley) grads, and still love the Camas library.  My Mom passed away, but once a Camasonian, always a Camasonian.  We know what a Papermaker is and why that is the mascot. Nobody messes with the paper machine. The Camas library is full of what you need, and if you can't find it, ASK!  They are always more than helpful!

What a great library. Good selection, helpful librarians, easily accessible wifi, storytime and movies. The new renovations make it look really nice inside as well.
