Categories: Body Shops, Auto Repair [Edit]
Neighborhood: MissionClaudio is the man.
He runs an HONEST body shop. there's really nothing more I could say.
I never thought i could say "honest" and "body shop" in the same sentence, but for Call Car, I will!
After my car got front-ended (long story) I shopped around and found that Call Car offered their services the cheapest (even half the cost of some other comparable shops!) Claudio could've easily asked for more, knowing that I wasn't paying for it, but he didn't. He quoted me $700 to replace and paint my bumper and mold my side markers.
The guy who hit my car was being a real jerk and wanted some sort of written statement that we (Claudio nor I) would ask for anything over $700. Any normal shop would never sign anything like that (because, after all, an estimate is an estimate) but Claudio was quick to draft me this guarantee. I think this shows two very important things:
1. His low estimates are never just to lure business in the door; they're the actual price he's going to charge you.
2. When he sees his customers in a tight wind, he'll do what it takes to help you out.
Besides the great, quick work he offers, he replaced one of my burnt-out bulbs for free. Plus he personally washed my car. What a great man.
Lastly, there was an issue with my fog lights. They were working perfectly fine prior to bringing it in, but somehow got disconnected after replacing my bumper. He tried to look into it, but I said forget it. Waste of time. I haven't figured it out yet myself, but whatever, who uses fog lights anyway?

I was a little worried that the glowing reviews here were wrong, because they misplaced my paperwork at first and seemed a little sloppy in scheduling. However, I have nothing but high praise for Claudio and Richard as they helped me navigate a complex, drawn-out claims process and never once complained that my car was left at their shop for the better part of a month while I haggled with the f**kers at State Farm. Once the money got coughed up, they did great work at a very fair price. Go see 'em!
I give this place 5 Stars !!!!!!!!
I found this auto body shop on Yelp after I smashed the front end of my little Honda Civic.. Not only did they take me on the spot, they went above and beyond to overhaul the front end of my car, bumper, headlights, frame, radiator.. you name it. I didnt have insurance and they quoted me a reasonable price.. They worked fast, efficiently, and even stuck to their original quote after they realized it was going to cost more then they quoted.. talk about being sticking to your word... I came back to a spanking new car that dazzled and shined... not to mention they washed my car and vaccuumed the inside and sprayed some yummy smelling scent inside.. Thank you sooo much !!! I would recommend them in a heartbeat ..
Bang-up #1:
Hit and run... someone swiped the side of my parked car and took off. Discovered the damage the next morning. Being fairly new to the City, I called my usual mechanics for a referral (this is before I knew about Yelp). "Call Car Collision, ask for Claudio or Richard."
These guys are not only friendly, but they ooze confidence and back it up with expert skills with dealing with my insurance company. If you're baffled on what the body shop needs to do with your insurance, don't sweat. These guys know what to do.
When I got my car back, it was of course, perfect. One of the guys even stood out on Mission St and played traffic cop for a moment so I could safely drive out of the shop! Now that's service!
Bang-up #2:
Only a few months later, a white Honda Civic with a giant plastic whale-tail spoiler on the trunk ran a red light zipped in front of me and an Audi in the next lane. Both my Volvo and the Audi in the next lane ended up broadsiding the offending vehicle. Neither of us could stop fast enough to avoid hitting this idiot.
The front of my Volvo had seen better days. The Fast n' Furious Civic? Gone, and so was my bumper-mounted license plate.
Funny, I don't see it among the debris in the intersection... where did it go? Did it fall off?
But at least I knew where to bring my car!
Claudio and Richard greeted me. "We'll take good care of you," they said. And once again, they did. They pulled my old paperwork and whaddya know, we're off and running.
When I picked up my car, I was handed a $20 bill. What was this for?
"You'll need it for the DMV when you apply for a replacement license plate." WOW!
Epilogue:
So what ever happened to my missing license plate?
It turns out the kids driving the Civic that ran the red light was on a suspended license. The other vehicle- the PO'd Audi who also struck the red-light runner- made chase and caught up! SFPD came and in the end, I was tracked down by insurance companies.
"How did you find me?" I asked.
"Oh, your license plate was found embedded on the side of the Civic."
I went in with a large scrape on the front fender of me new Lexus. I had heard that Call Car was cheap and easy to do business with.
The owner had one of his guys buff out the scrape while I waited free of charge!
What can I say? They will get my business from now on.
A++++
Claudio ROCKS! He is friendly, nice, and professional.
My Mini was hit in the front by a rock on the freeway and then got rear ended. That means I have to deal with my own insurance company for the front damage and the other guy's insurance company for the rear bumper at the same time! Due to my job, I have to be on the road most of the time during weekdays. Claudio helped me to make the whole process easy and quick. All I had to do was to make a few phone calls to make sure everything was OK.
I dropped my car off last week before I went on another business trip which ended yesterday. I picked up my car today, my Mini looks like NEW! The paint job was excellent! I'm so glad that I came to this place. If you are looking for a quick, professional, and affordable auto body shop, this is definitely the place to go!
You may notice that I have written almost no other Yelp reviews. That's because I joined for no other reason than review Call Car Collision. In sum: it's fantastic, just like everyone here says. I found it on Yelp. Claudio was nice, available, honest, and did the work right on time.
He quoted me $500 less than the Honda shop to replace my front panel and door panel after a hit and run. The work looks perfect. He matched the paint perfectly. I would go to him again in a second, and you should too.
These guys are great! They fixed a dent in my fender, and made my car look like a million bucks. They even did things they didn't have to- like tighten up other parts that were loose, empty some of the trash i had left in the car, and they even waxed and buffed the outside so it was shining when i came to pick it up!
fair price, friendly service & good results although they did a less than perfect job re-installing my trunk carpet, tire, and lining after having removed it to repair the lid and they also forgot to buff the roof but when i pointed it out he got to it right then, i went and had a burrito and came back and it was finished.
would have been 5 stars but you gotta dock points for SOMETHING right? even A students get B+'s now and then.
So I know most my recent reviews have been 5 stars and many yelpers may think I am just super nice, that's partly true. I am pretty nice, but I give 5 stars for a variety of reasons and well, I guess I 've been pretty lucky lately. Well I had though my luck had ran out when my car got totally smashed at the beginning of the year. Although the accident and insurance process sucked, Claudio and Richard at Call Car Collision were amazing. Long story short, these guys are not just good at their work but they are amazing and HONEST people. It's nice to know that people like these guys exist. Great people, great work, great price....5 stars doesn't do this place any justice,
I have to say that I couldn't pass up the opportunity to try Call Car Collision after reading such great reviews. Even though the drive was far for me, I decided to go for it anyway and I'm glad I did.
Like the other reviewers mentioned, both Claudio and Richard are very nice, honest and redefine customer service. I really felt like they actually cared, rather than just being concerned with collecting fees. For example, Claudio did little various things like wipe some paint off my car, cleaned a water stain off a seat and so forth, willingly and gladly, just to help me out. The estimate I got was a lot lower than some other place I went to initially and the finished work was great. I'd have to say that they helped to restore some trust I've lost previously from having to deal with other shops with less than stellar service. I certainly recommend them to others.

To be honest with you all yelpers, I don't normally give out five stars because i am very picky and am a perfectionist.
I also found "Call Car Collision" on yelp and thanks to the great reviews, i decided to give it a try. Although their business name is a bit of a tongue twister (hehe).., Claudio and Richard are few of the greatest people I know in the automotive repair industry.
I am originally from San Francisco, but I currently live in vallejo for school. anyway, i came all the way out there to check them out because of all the reviews that I've read (everything and everyone was a positive experience)!
Claudio and Richard are great people, yes!! honest, personable, and very considerate... Not only are they very knowledgeable, they know how to make their customers happy!.. They are very reasonable on their estimate (that you won't find anywhere else).
I came to CCC to get my ding/scratch repair on my almost new car. After i got my car back, that's how i know how great of a workmanship they possess.
If you are reading this Claudio or Rich. you guys are the greatest and defintely would recommend everyone that i know to your place. you brought a smile to poeople's face with the job that you guys do!!
Thank You!!!
Folks, you guys gots to come here if you need some work done on your cars... Highly Recommended!! =]

Friendly, decent prices, and they CARE. They had the car polished and pulled to the front when I came in to get it and they told me to please be more careful with my nice car. It's true - I'm known for playing accidental bumper car in SF allies. Sorry guys!! I'll try to be more gentle in the future.
Claudio and Richard are the best! They are honest and will do a great job for you. Their attitude is fantastic and you really can't ask for better service. I went there because of all the great yelp reviews and im so happy I did. It sucks though that I moved to LA.
My story, and i'll make it quick. I took my car to them after an accident which left me with both bumpers broken and my hood bent. They quoted me a lot less money than other body shops did. They also had a guy come in and do a paintless ding removal job. This also cost me extra money but it was cheap to do and the car looked great after that!. This wasn't a bad job at all. I'm writing this review 8 months later and I'm still happy with what they did.
They are truly great guys.
I have to reiterate the fantastic reviews below.
The folks at Call Car Collision are honest, friendly and professional.
Lennart
I tend to be somewhat wary of anything receiving consistent perfect scores. I assume a bandwagon effect, people see a great score, come in believing they will have a great experience and do. Kinda like how No Country for Old Men won the Oscar (great movie just not all that and the proverbial bag of frito-lay).
At any rate, I thought I would give this place a shot. My car recently decided to give my garage a little good-bye kiss while I was backing out one day and I subsequently had white paint and some scratches along the side. Nothing major but enough to make a new car look a little beat. Yesterday I called, spoke to Claudio (owner man) and said I'd bring it by in the morning. I come in, tell Claudio what happened, he gives it a look, turns, and without a word, disappears into his garage. He emerges with a variety of rags and a number of tubes that look like they dispense Arby's secret sauce. For 20 minutes he's applying, rubbing, scrubbing, wiping, re-applying, rinsing and rubbing again, never speaking a word. Finally he stands up and motions for me to inspect his work. Flawless.
Needless to say I'm happy. I thank him and reach for my wallet. He simply shakes his head, gathers his things and heads to the garage. As I following him down Mission Street with 40 dollars in my outstretched arm like a mother following after her child with his forgotten lunch, I plead with him to let me give him something. As said before on a number of reviews, he just says, when it's something big, come back. And I will. That happened an hour ago and I've already recommended him to three people since.
That is how you do business.
Talked to Claudio and Richard, like everyone else, and found them to be quite personable and honest, like everyone else. Would recommend them to everyone else, like everyone else.
My personal experience:
Some old gentleman side-swiped me, so I took my car here to have it looked at. Claudio didn't even say anything, just looked at the car, then got some composite (I think he called it that; it was like car wax, but not) and just buffed the car. The scratches faded, and voila. He wouldn't take any payment, saying instead that there were more important things than money.
Hopefully he likes respect, cuz he gets a lot of that from me, and everyone else.

What a wonderful way to conduct business.
My experience goes a little like this: I scraped my bumper while multi-multitasking, leaving some white paint on an otherwise pristine vehicle. Bummer. I cruised down to Call Car Collision yesterday, pulled-in and pointed to the offending area, and they used this miracle fluid to buff it out. Did it take 5 minutes, or only 3?
They could have charged me $20 and it would have been fair, but they realized that if I need to have a big repair done later, I'm coming back. They wouldn't take my money.
Honorable, and a smart way to conduct business.

These guys are Hands Down Amazing.
Claudio will restore any lost faith you had in the autobody industry--or any industry that is known for swindling money outta your pocket.
The quick and dirty: USPS side swiped my car creating over $3000 worth of damage. Claudio fixed the damage within the budget, in a timely fashion, ensured they covered the necessary parts, and was always open even though I was only available for drop off/pick up in the evenings.
He's such a good guy, he even drove me to my next appointment after dropping off my car, though not far away, it was late, dark, and through a shady neighborhood. I was going to walk, but he insisted. He's just a GOOD PERSON.
A good person and stellar work? What's not to like?
We've been here twice- thanks to other yelp reviews- and had awesome service. Richard and Claudio are friendly, professional, and also they were the least expensive estimate. They also stuck to their estimated costs, which doesn't often happen at autobody shops. If we continue to be klutzy drivers, we will definitely use them again.

These guys are so awesome that I gave them all hugs. That's how much they deserve 5 stars.
I was in an accident back in July, but it took forever for me to get an estimate I liked. I basically have the worst insurance coverage plan and had to pay for the repairs out-of-pocket. I was ready to go to a shop that said they could fix my car for pretty cheap, but I heard from a friend that they'd probably do a "mickey mouse" job. So I found Call Car Collision on Yelp and decided to check them out.
I went 10 minutes before closing time, but Claudio and the guys there didn't seem to care and I was there for another 1 1/2 hours. Claudio tried really hard to accommodate to my budget and he definitely delivered. They educated me on insurance policies (I've learned my lesson), fixed my car so that it looks brand new, and even washed my car inside and out. I've gotten many compliments on the work. I'm definitely telling all my friends to come here if they want reasonable quotes, quality work, and overall great customer service!
believe da hype.
claudio took a big icy tahoe dent special out of the back of my car in about ten minutes. subsequently refused payment. then rich carefully guided me out of the garage and back onto mission.
this guy's got karma coming out his ears. bring it full circle with your business.
Claudio is honest. The shop is friendly.
I went in for an estimate on some small dings and scratches, and was basically told that the repairs were not worth the associated cost. They pretty much turned down my business.
Claudio then proceeded to rub out most of the light scratches by hand...he spent nearly 45 minutes on my car only to wave me off with a smile. He wouldn't take any money for his work.
Needless to say, he has my business while I am in SF, and I will recommend him to everyone.
I have to conform with the rest of the crowd and give them 5 stars. 1. The quality was great. 2. The job was finished on time. 3. The guy was very friendly and pleasant. 4. They even did a great car wash (inside and out). 5. THE PRICE, PRICE, PRICE. They completed my body repair for nearly HALF of the other two estimates I got. You won't go wrong with these guys.
Is there any place else? Claudio is honest to a fault and his shop does outstanding work at a reasonable price. When I was there another customer dropped by just to thank him for doing such a great job on his ride. Tip: bring a few $20 dollar bills so if we works some magic on your car and refuses to charge you, you can at least buy the guy a nice dinner. Wait til he looks away, then slip em in his shirt pocket right behind the pack of Marlboroughs before he has a chance to stop you.
HOLY COW! it's true: Claudio is the best! When I dropped off my car he was hugging a client (not in an icky way), he answers the phone immediately, he gave me an INSANELY LOW bid that I accepted and fixed three places on the car for.....I can't even say......let's just say I REFUSED and added 20 bucks because I want him to stay in business.
HaHA insurance company: You KNOW NOTHING ABOUT THIS.

In SF, there are the seven degrees of Claudio. I know people who know Claudio. I know people who know people who know Claudio. Claudio is your man. The first time, Richard reattached my sorry-ass bumper back to my worn out old Honda with a zip tie. Good as new! The next time, Claudio comforted me when an early-morning collision ruined the front bumper of my brand-new-to-me Audi. This fall, I just laughed when my insurance company tried to get me to repair the dent from my *&^%$% hit and run at their "in-network" shop. These guys know cars, and they tell it to you straight. They'll give you a good deal, but they won't put crap after-market parts in your car. I don't have the space to write about all the nice little things Claudio has done for me and my car. One classy mechanic.
Excellent. I had an uninsured dent, and they took care of me quickly and reasonably. I called several of the recommendations here on Yelp and Call Car Collision had what I wanted.
Great guys!
Love them! They are great....would reccommend to ANYONE who wants to save money! They made car look new again! This is definitly the place to go if you need you car fixed. Claudio and Richard are sweet men and do excellent work! Hopefully I won't need any more work done to my baby but if I do I will go to them...and they even cleaned the inside of my car...that was a bonus!!!
These guys are AMAZING!!!! I can't say that getting in an accident is a positive experience, but they almost (but not quite) make me want to get hit again!
They were, by far, the least expensive out of the three estimates I got. When I called, Richard (see, I really like these guys, I know their names) told me to bring it by and asked what color and make my car was so he could "keep his eye out for me". How nice!
Then I take my car in, which is a late model Volvo, so I didn't want just anyone working on it. Claudio, the owner, took a look at it and explained all of my options. From the get-go I could tell I was not going to get ripped off. He was totally okay with the fact that I didn't want to go through insurance, but told me I should get something from the other party signed to say that they for sure wouldn't report it later. Good advice!
While I was there, they called vendors to see what the prices would be on parts and to see if they could get a deal somewhere to lower the price. They did this in front of me, so I knew the prices on parts that they wrote on the estimate were accurate and not some inflated number.
As I was leaving, (from my estimate) Claudio noticed that my tail light was out. He asked if I had 5 minutes and changed the bulb for FREE! He said that he "didn't want me to get a ticket". What a guy!
As it turns out, I did end up going through insurance. I only had to call the insurance to report the accident, they took care of everything else. I even called my insurance to check to make sure that I didn't need to tell them anything more. They assured me that these guys had already taken care of everything. Amazing. Who does that?
Additionally, they offered to arrange a rental car for me through Enterprise at a VERY discounted rate per day. I didn't end up taking them up on this, but had I needed to, this would have saved me tons of money.
They let me keep the car there while the insurance companies were battling it out and even let me keep it there over Thanksgiving while I was out of town for FREE! Other places will charge you to store your car every day that they aren't working on it.
I went to pick up my car, and not only was she beautiful again, she was clean! Richard and the guys in the shop had cleaned her for me inside and out. They even found a dollar bill under my seat and set it aside. What honesty! They assured me that they clean every car that goes out of their shop.
Additionally, they had gone around the car with touch-up paint, and fixed all of the little nicks you get from living in the city. Now my car is newer, so she doesn't have tons of scratches, but still! She now looks even better than before the accident!
I would, and have already, recommended Call Car Collision to everyone I meet. These guys are honest, fast, helpful, and VERY reasonable. I saw a variety of cars in their shops, from 1980 Volvo station wagons, to brand new SUV's. There is no need to look any furthur; you have found your auto body shop. Now all you need to do is give Richard and Claudio and the guys a call to fix your baby!

exceptionally helpful practical and wonderful.
i hit a dumpster. my own dumb fault and dinged one of the rear passenger doors. claudio touched up the paint himself while i waited and had me on my way in about 15 minutes.
as previously stated the place as an air of absolute goodness and benevolence not often found, especially in body shops.
After an unfortunate incident turned the right fender of my Saturn into so much shattered plastic, I was quoted $1300 by the Saturn dealer to fix it. Yelp guided me to Claudio at Call Car Collision, who initially quoted $1000 but then dropped his estimate to $750 after scouting around for lower-priced replacement parts. He did the job right, on time, and on budget (how often do you get all three?) and washed the car inside and out as a bonus. Excellent work, Claudio! Thank you
Accidentally rear-ended someone (oops!) and the front end of my poor Camry was totaled. After reading the reviews on Yelp, I decided to head on over to Call. Claudio and Richard were great. They were very knowledgeable and explained things well. Most importantly, it was reassuring to see a lot of cars that were worth much more than mine -- and also in much worse shape!
Camry was fixed after a week-and-a-half and it looks great! Insurance covered the damage, but they were willing to work with me if I wanted to handle it "out of pocket".
UPDATE (12/8/06): Sigh, lightening strikes twice! My 2006 Accord was victim to a hit-n-run parking lot accident leaving *large scratches* in the bumper. Took it to Claudio (at 7pm!) who buffed the scratches off and touched it up in a few minutes. It looked "near" perfect, but since the car was brand new, I wanted perfection. The quote was very reasonable and he fixed it up in 48 hours. The color matched exactly... PERFECTION!
To be honest, he charged me much, much less than the initial quote... He said, "I love my job! Money isn't everything." He gets my five-stars -- everyone needs an auto professional who LOVES THEIR JOB.

claudio is a saint!
he fixed my car in a snap and saved me a HUGE amount of money. it's almost hard to believe this place exists - it's like a throwback to the days when businesses actually cared about their customers and their reputation and considered word-of-mouth the best form of advertisement. my experience at call car was SO AMAZING that i feel like i need to go out and be a better person/driver/etc. just to repay the universe for this incredible karmic gift.
Wow. I"m amazed. I went to this place because i read the reviews on yelp and figured i'd try it out.
i've had this 2 foot long key scratch on my car for the past 6 months, and never got it fixed because every other place said it would cost anywhere from $400-600 to fix. when i called, claudio talked through the problem with me, asked pointed questions, and quickly came to the conclusion that he may be able to fix it more economically.
When i got there, he immediately went to work, quickly sanded down the bumper, polished it, and washed my car. i was out of there in 30 minutes! and it was ridiculously cheap!
obviously maybe mine was a unique case, but claudio is a very honest guy and he totally made my day. i don't think i've ever been so happy coming out of a body shop!
Claudio Veras.
One part Tony Montana. One part MacGyver. One part Tom Shane.
I'm just thankful he's on my side. Yes, Claudio was good to me.

Not long ago, my beloved Geo, Georgia (shut up), was hit by a drunk driver. I called all my friends to ask for a recommendation for an auto body shop and this place got recommended to me twice. Now I see why--the owner, Claudio, is awesome.
My car, unfortunately, was unsalvageable. But Claudio sure made the whole experience nicer. Not only did he agree to keep my car at his shop free of charge while I worked out the insurance, but when I walked in, a woman was singing his praises. She wouldn't take her car anywhere else, she said.
When I get another car, I'll take it there, too. (And get collision insurance--stupid!)

After a minor accident, I brought in my car to these guys to for an estimate. I mostly dealt with Richard who was very helpful. He took care of contacting my insurance company and arranged for them to come in for the damage evaluation. I got my car back in a couple weeks and they did a decent job. They also ended up giving me a nice discount to offset my insurance deductible. I highly recommend these guys.
I could seriously kiss these guys. They are so helpful and nice, not to mention do EXCELLENT work, for much less than anyone else we talked to. These guys are honest and really just took the horrible experience of having your car smashed into something to feel good about.
The day after we got engaged, someone hit our parked car (parked right in front of our apt!!) and dented the door, and broke the side view mirror and window. Unfortunately my insurance wouldn't cover it because it was a hit and run and I didn't know the culprit.
I took my car to another body shop that was recommended and they gave me a bid of $1100! Not knowing any better, I agreed. I called my fiance after I dropped it off and he said, oh no no , that's WAY too much and went and picked it up during his lunch hour and took to to Claudio (whom he found via Yelp reviews!). Not only was Claudio extremely helpful but he charged us almost half the price. It was done a day before we thought it was going to be and he was really flexible about when we could pick it up.
The car looks beautiful, brand new again and it was cleaned inside and out!! I almost shed a tear because this whole thing was so stressful and they were so good to us.
So thank you Richard and Claudio!! I would not hesitate to recommend this place to everyone I know. They are amazing!!!
