for over 20 years the water slides at shadow cliffs has been a very enjoyable time for myself and my friends. never anything too big with over 4 slides but at that time water slides were still something new. i can't even began to tell you how many times i have trekked up that asphalt hill to the top each and every day during the summer. back then it was all barefoot baby and i had the blisters to prove it!

located next to shadow cliffs you have yourself a fun filled day of excitement for friends and family of all ages.

This place is incredibly expensive for what it is ($18 for all day pass- and even the hour passes are still $9). You also have to pay $6 to park. There are only 4 slides and no pool or chairs to lounge in. When they say only 42 inches or taller can enter, they mean it, and you can't go on any slides with your child. My baby and I sat outside of the park on the grass and watched my husband and daughter go on the slides.

The slides themselves are old, and the turns are pretty rough. They have a sign at the entrance that says the slides are pretty scary and there are no refunds if your kid doesn't like them. I am certain they have this up here because about 50% or more of the kids probably don't like the slides. You have to use mats since the slides are old, and they don't readily tell you either that you can borrow life jackets for free (in case your child can't swim yet). My daughter is almost 5 and loves roller coasters, yet these slides were scary. I would recommend
this place for kids who are experienced with water slides or are 7 and above.

Thank God we had a buy one get one free coupon for this place, otherwise we would have been seriously bummed about dropping this much cash for a place that our daughter spent less than an hour at. I highly recommend going to other water parks, since you will go on newer and more slides for about the same or less money.

If you do end up here, there are other things to do that are ok. They have paddle boats you can rent for an hour (which we did)- this costs $10. And then there is a beach area on the other side where everyone can play in the water. It's kind of murky water and there are tons of minnows in it. So I would definitely recommend showering up after being in there.

Scotty D.'s review and photos are completely misleading. There is no wave pool, slow river, activity pool, etc. etc. Apparently the City of Pleasanton vetoed the project... at the very least it is on hold. Those enticing photos? I don't know what they are pictures of, but it sure ain't the current site.

Based on the review, this seemed like a very promising site for my daughter's birthday party. I drove there there with a crowd of kids, and we were all quite surprised that it didn't look a thing like what we had seen online.

Even so, we had a good time. This place has four water slides (one of which was closed when we were there) and a little picnic area. The adjacent lake (Shadow Clffs -- part of the East Bay Regional Parks) offers swimming and more picnic possibilities. Most of the crowd was kids between 5 and 12 and their parents; if you have kids in this age group I would recommend it as an outing. Couple of recommendations though:
1. Be forewarned that it's nothing like the pictures or the text in Scotty D.'s review. There are 4 fun but tame waterslides and a lake; nothing more.
2. Bring your own yellowjacket trap if you plan to picnic,
3. Be sure you look up the directions on Mapquest because the directions on the web site will leave you thoroughly and completely lost.
