California Pizza Kitchen

Dined in on a Friday afternoon during happy hour and we were greeted by a nasty, sewer-like smell at the front of the restaurant. Luckily, the hostess came over quickly to seat us and the smell disappeared. Still, it was stomach-turning and unappetizing to walk in and smell that as we were about to eat.

The food was great. Weekdays from 3-6pm (I'm unsure about the time), their starters are half off and a 7 inch pizza and beer is $9. Our waitress subbed the beer out for a soda for me, and the pizza was amazing! Our bill was $40 for 3 food items and 2 drinks which is pretty good. We will be returning during happy hour because the deals were great.

First, I got to say the service was quick. From getting seated to receiving what I ordered, there was no time wasted. Service was absolutely amazing, thanks Rob!

The pizza was thin, but surprisingly not crunchy. It gave more of a doughy texture to it. The mushroom, pepperoni, and sausage combination was very interesting, it meshed really well. Usually I don't like it too chewy, but this was actually good.

Great place to eat and relax. Looking to come back and try the salads.

We ordered "the works pizza" and a fettuccine Alfredo with chicken. Their $20 dollar pizza was a personal pizza enough for one person and their pasta was tough as rubber. We told them their pasta was undercooked, only to bring out more of the same tough pasta . I'm sorry, but I'm used to having soft pasta. Now I know why I haven't been here in three years.

The smell upon walking in was the first thing that threw me off. Not pleasant.

We ordered three pizza on regular hand tossed crust. My pictures show how thin these pizzas were. If this is how thin the regular hand tossed pizzas are, how thin are the thin crusts? They were also super crispy. These pizzas are not worth $20.

The service was decent which is why I'm giving it 2 stars.

Overall, I did not enjoy my experience here. I won't come back, even if I had a gift card.

I was looking for the Carmel Mountain Ranch location and didn't see it here but this was the location I tried. I took my sister out to lunch at this location because I have always enjoyed CPK. It was a little past 12:30 p.m, and I walked in the door and asked to be seated as my sister had not arrived yet. I observed the woman at the front desk was not very warm and welcoming. She did not say hello to me right upon walking in the door. I asked her for a booth for two people. She said it would be a little bit of a wait so the table could be cleaned. I waited about five minutes before they called my name. After being seated, ii had to wait again for a server to be of assistance to take orders. After waiting approximately 5 to 10 minutes, i flagged down a waitress to have orders taken. Once I was able to get one over to the table, my sister came walking in the door. We had ordered to start with the Guacamole with chips appetizer. It was fabulous. Then we both decided to order from the lunch menu. I had ordered a half of a chicken sandwich with a side Thai chicken salad. The food was outstanding. I was so hungry i forgot to take a photo of my lunch entree! The waitress made up for the fact I had to flag her down to take our orders as time was not on my sister and my side because she had to go back to work. I gave this place 4 Stars because the service needs improvement. A customer should not have to scout around for a waiter or waitress to have their order taken ever. Food was excellent but service needs more attention.

Went there for a lunch date and honestly wasn't super happy about the service. I'm not sure why but it felt like the waiters would take too long to serve us our food, which normally I would understand but the restaurant was not super busy. The food was okay! We got the elotes and two personal pizzas which are out favorite when going to CPK. The overall restaurant felt quiet but it was also a bit off hours.

Following a day of shopping my Dad wanted food from his favorite chain restaurant. After some searching I found this place and we headed there for dinner.
The dining room was primarily filled with families and they were only seating ppl on one side of the restaurant making it seem a bit more crowded than it actually was.
While getting into the booth I was scratched by a piece of metal sticking out of the side of the cushion. We let the server know and we moved to a table. Eventually someone came out and clipped the metal.
After looking over the menu we ordered and my dad was a bit disappointed because they took his favorite pizza of the menu. We had the spinach artichoke dip and while good, we realized it was a bit salty. I ordered a beer and had to wait a good while and only after asking, I was told that they were changing out the tap. I had a burger that I enjoyed and my dad ate a few piece of his veggie pizza(the large pieces of broccoli were a bit much). Can't say it's still his favorite anymore and can't say I'll be going anytime soon.

The table (or restaurant, couldn't tell) smelled like sour moldy wet rag. I ordered half pepperoni, half sausage. They charged me extra for the sausage and there were...count em, 5 small pieces on one entire half. I walked out with a bill of nearly $50 and got a crappy pizza and half salad (we ordered water). The only redeeming part of the experience was a nice server who was also very apologetic at the end when I finally complained. I didn't initially complain but after everything was said and done I was pretty disappointed. This definitely seems like more of a corporate issue versus just having a bad experience on one particular day.

This review is long overdue, but after last nights debacle, I decided it was time. #1-it smells immediately upon walking in. #2-the restaurant is rarely full but you always have to wait.

Last night was no exception. We waited, only to get to our table and be told by our waiter "thanks for being patient my name is () I'll be back."

10 min later...

He comes, takes our order.

10+ min later

Drinks arrive.

Food eventually arrives and is cold, as expected. My daughter's dish was wrong, so the kind waitress took it back and in the process, our waiter came by and said "that was my bad about the pasta."

My Italian salad was bland and tasteless. I managed to eat most before the pasta came back to my daughter. My eldest loves the cheese pizza so she was the only one happy.

The kicker-I was double charged for kids pasta. After paying my bill (my mistake), I noticed and tried to flag our waiter down but didn't feel like spending anymore time with him.

CPK, you need help. The appearance of the restaurant, the cold food, bland salads and most importantly horrible service (with the exception of the long-time employees that we never seem to get) , I blame you.

I won't go back unless my daughter throws a fit OR, they bring back the tostada pizza, but only if I get it to go.

Nice clean location! Friendly staff, food comes out relatively quickly. It's one of the better locations I've been to! Will be back for sure.
