Great food. Great service. Fantastic entertainment.

California Magic is NOT your grandfather pulling a quarter out from behind your ear.  Stolling magicians perform amazing close-up magic right in front of you before dinner and in-between courses.  Not only is their magic amazing but they are hilarious, too.

The food is excellent and having been to the theatre several times, I can also say it's consistently excellent.  Service is superb, attentive, professional yet unpretentious.  Dinner begins with a spring salad; you choose the home-made dressing that you favor; their homemade ranch dressing is the best you will ever try.

The main course is a chicken breast AND beef served with rice and a vegetable; the veggies served are cooked, not overly cooked, and delicious; if you think that you're into the California nuvo eat-your-veggies barely cooked  scene, you're in for a treat.  You can request either all beef or all chicken for dinner when you purchase your advance tix.  They also offer a sumptious vegetarian pasta meal.

The dessert plate is chocolate covered strawberries, a small brownie and creme puff.  "Standard beverages" are included.  Beer, wine and some cocktails are also available.

After dinner the stage show begins; normally with the owner and host Gerry Griffin doing the warm up followed by the main act or sometimes, acts.  This guy is a master of the art.  He's owned magic shops his entire, adult life and as such he demonstrates what he sells - in other words he's working all the time and distinctly proves that practice makes perfect.

We have now been to several shows and what we have seen is world-class; as good as anything you will ever see at The Magic Castle or in Vegas.  You will see many performers who also appear in those places.

It's GREAT entertainment by which you will be surprised.

The ticket price is around $60.00 and includes everything: meals, beverage, tip and entertainment.  Cocktails and related tips are extra.  Typical glass of wine is around $7 to $8.00.

Dressy casual attire seems normal here.

This is some of the best entertainment in the SF bay area!

I had an awesome time here.

By day its a magic shop, by night its a cozy little magic dinner theatre.

There were only about 10 tables with about 5 magicians roaming around doing card tricks. Lots of card tricks. Some very impressive, but in reality a person can only see so many card tricks.

The good was awesome. I had the prime rib. Certainly not high class restaurant quality food. But this was in a magic shop....I was content. Wine was good too.

And the show was impressive. First the owner does his bit...half stand up half magic. He's good at his craft. Its entertaining.

Then they have a headliner. the night I was there...it was a couple from the Ukraine. Nonstop, fast paced trick after trick for a good 45 minutes.

They were the hardest working people in the Martinez magic show business.
