Anaheim, CA
After my coworker mentioned this place, I figured hey lets go check it out. So my first thought was, okay fresh fish cooked right before you place your order, this is going to be a pricey lunch. As I walked in, a stack of menu's are available to look at while you wait in line. Then to my surprise, I check out the combos and wow, these prices are very reasonable! The place smells great, very spacious with many tables for a full house during lunch. I walk up to the register, I place my order of the Cajun Ahi Tacos combo, I grab my table number, then head over to the condiments. There are many choices of salsa, dipping sauces and soft drink refill station all in one area.
As I get to my seat, I quickly dress my tacos with salsa and lime and bite right into the first Cajun taco... Fireworks! The explosion of flavor and the lightness of the fish has all the bells and whistles any fresh cooked fish should taste like. So basically, I recommend this place to anyone who wants something light weight and flavorful... The hardest part for me was choosing what I wanted to eat for lunch which is why I will be coming back here to try more items on their menu. Great food and service, you won't be disappointed. -

Cerritos, CA
Such a reasonable price for a light, healthy meal! I've only been to this Anaheim location and Cypress location, and the service here is great!
California Fish Grill is a great, casual restaurant, where you order at the counter and take a number so that they'll bring your food out to you.
I usually order:
- white roughy, cajun style (the other option is with garlic butter)
- grilled zucchini instead of rice
- clam chowder if I'm feeling extra hungry (it's actually quite delicious here!!)
So delicious and light. Their menu also includes an entire list of various items such as fish tacos, deep fried seafood, sweet potato fries, etc.
I need to come back here soon! -

Rowland Heights, CA
Lots of variety of fishes to choose from. At the cashier, there was a list of where their fishes were purchased. Also there was a wide selection of glass/bottle wines to choose from. The place is great to bring a small group of friends or just a couple.
We had a party of three with 3 different types of prepared fish. One fried fish and shrimp, garlic butter white swai, and 2 taco Cajun white swai. Oh, and clam chowder. The garlic butter white swai with rice was the best out of the three. The clam chowder was tasty and creamy, not gooey like most other places. Their house tartar sauce was delicious with fried fish and shrimp also.
Best place for value and taste for fish if you are in the area. Serve yourself some beer or white wine if you get it grilled and you're all set. -

Great food. I am not a fish person, but I do eat Mahi. Love their Mahi tacos. I like that you can see the kitchen area and watch your food cook. After working many years in the food industry it is nice to see the workers and what they are doing to your food. Only downside is that seating is a bit tough during high traffic times.

Pro: California Fish Grill offers healthy, high quality ingredients delivered daily
Con: Seating sucks
Location: Easy access off the 91 freeway. I especially liked it because it is located in a plaza with a movie theatre. I saw several people head over to the cinema right after us so it is especially convenient for a casual date night.
Food: My boyfriend and I ordered one mahi mahi and one salmon charbroiled platter. You have the option for two toppings: garlic butter sauce and cajun style. Each platter comes with two moderate fish portions so we opted to get one topping for each. My preference was the cajun and boyfriend preferred the garlic butter.
The bar offers several toppings:
New England style tartar sauce
House sauce
Cilantro
Salsas
Your platter also comes with a choice of zucchini, fries, or rice. I opted for the zucchini.. which was PERFECTLY cooked. I wanted seconds of it. Loved it. You also get bread and coleslaw... pretty standard.
I really love this place. This will definitely be a new spot for me. Its healthy and flavorful and for a reasonable price. -

Best clam chowder in a 30 mile radius, delicious shrim burritos, and friendly service. Only complaint is the lack of tables!

This is my go to spot for a good fish dinner. The fish is fresh, tasty and affordable. The service is quick and friendly while the restaurant is nice and clean. It's an easy fix for a healthy meal to dine in or take out. My fave is the fried catfish, which may not be the healthiest item on the menu, but sure is yummy!

This place seriously never gets old! It's such a value for a healthy and delicious meal :) I always get the mahi mahi because it has less of a fatty texture. Lately my boyfriend has been obsessed with their fish tacos, which I also really like! Their batter is wonderfully crispy and they give you a ton of fresh fish, so you always leave here feeling full and happy!

I do like this place - or at least the food. It's hard to find a place to get fresh seafood without having to sit down and a fancy restaurant commit to that whole thing. But our orders have been messed up about 50-60% of the time. They are all friends, gossip and talk alot (the ladies up front).....the guys grilling are probably OK. But the people packing your food don't pay attention and if you don't double check your order before you leave, more likely than not, you are missing something or two. It's a 15 minute drive there, and another 15 back. Countless times (if we forget to check) we get home, realize we've been shorted something(s) and just suck it up. We lose the $8-10 meal we paid for but never received, because to go back? Ugh. 30 minutes and how do you prove you never GOT it? Other times they have messed up the ORDER so that we got home, saw the food missing, then checked the receipt and realized they didn't get the order right to begin with. At least we didn't PAY for food not received in those cases!
So yeah. In my opinion if they had waaay better management, more detail oriented people working there, and only shorted me 1 out of every 30 times, I'd like it. But right now its more like 1/2 the time and I'm wary of going back and supporting the joint. -

Cajun style white ruffy vs. cajun style mahi mahi.
Don't know which one is better! Had the mahi mahi today. It was moist and absolutely delicious!! I try to be a good girl and get rice instead of fries, but I just can't help myself. French fries are my kryptonite. They season it so well too!
Came out of there stuffed and happy!Listed in: Something's Fishy!

This restaurant is right by our house. It gets pretty crowded so either come early or call to pick up. Seats are limited so if there's no room your standing till someone finishes. Their fish is always fresh, but I get the grilled shrimp wrap. They can sometimes get carried away with their special sauce so I order the sauce on the side. Grab a few lemons from the salsa bar and your good to go. The clam chowder is seriously my favorite clam chowder anywhere! So fresh and creamy, it's def a crowd pleaser. The grilled zucchini is a great side order as well! I come here at least once a month!

I went here with a group of 4 other friends. It is casual dining and you order at the register and you are given a number which you leave at your table. Once your meal is ready, it is brought out to your table. It is self service drinks as well.
I ordered the trout from charbroiler. You can choose your fish to be cooked with garlic butter or with cajun spice. You can choose rice or fries, and it comes with bread and coleslaw.
The food came out quite quickly. My trout was nice and soft, tasted really fresh and didnt have that old fishy smell. It was cheap and tasted good quality. My meal was $11.83 including tax and i felt that it was great value for money! -

This restuarant was great for take out. The gal who answered the phone worried me because she was talking to customers and employees also but it was great. Food was fresh, hot and exactly what we ordered. The grilled fish taco's are awesome. We will go here again for sure.

Solid place to grab lunch and dinner on the semi-cheap without it being fast food status. i almost always order the battered shrimp tacos combo plate, and the fish tacos are also good. there will be a line at the height of lunch and dinner. servings are plentiful.

I came here to order some take out. I stood at the register for 5 minutes before anyone bothered to say anything to me. Then the person that helped me barely spoke any English. All the while, there were about 5 other workers that were just standing around. Maybe it's just hard to find good help nowadays.. .
As for the food, we ordered the giant shrimp and salmon dinners. The food is good as always. I can't complain about the food but the service definitely could be better. -

Finally... a lunch spot close to work that offers good healthy food!
My coworker took me here after I'd been wondering where the good eats were around my new job. I'm not into fast food and I don't really feel like sandwiches every single day. So today we ventured out for something healthy.
We had the salmon and rice and the shrimp tacos with some cotija cheese on them. Yummers! I added some tapatio to the mix and there was a party in my mouth. This was exactly what the doctor ordered!
There was plenty of seating and everything was nice and clean. I'll definitely be back! -

Fullerton, CA
I really love this place. The service is a little slow and some of the people they choose to hire are a little on the ghetto side (sorry, it's a rude term I know) but WOW what great food for cheap and easy.
It's hard to find healthy food without table service these days. The set up is similiar to a Chipotle but with fish. I agree with the others, the Swai White Ruffy is really choice stuff. The rice is always amazing but if you want to be extra healthy get the grilled zucchini. All of it is pretty above average.
I really like what these people are doing. Oh! they serve beer too! :) -

Love this place!! The food comes out pretty quick (the wait is usually 5-10 mins) and the restaurant can get pretty crowded at times... Get your seats!
Can't really complain about their service; food comes quick and there is really no need for them to come back. You get the lemons/tartar sauce/butter by yourself..
I love the swai/"white roughy" with cajun! My all time favorite, you really can't go wrong with it. It's not too fishy and it definitely fills you up. comes with a pile of rice (or fries), coleslaw, and bread for about ~$9
Great deal for a good amount of food..and it's healthy too! -

I've been burnt out by work and it has been affecting my health/mood of late. I needed to take a day to heal and recharge. You would think I would of gone to the beach or taken up the amenities at Burke Williams Spa to unwind. Nah, I'm going to do something I haven't done in quite awhile ... take my mom to a nice lunch and grocery shopping.

What was ordered:
Salmon ($9.99) - Yay! I'm a Fan (4 stars) - 2 large, thick, charbroiled filets of salmon dressed with garlic butter sauce on a bed of brown rice served with a slice of soft bread and cole slaw. They give you a choice of garlic butter sauce or Cajun style and fries or rice--$0.50 extra for brown rice. The salmon filets had perfect grill marks and had a beautiful pink and white hue with cloudy butter over it. Once you cut open the salmon, you can see it is flakey and moist at the same time. It tasted wonderful--you taste the salmon and garlic butter sauce. One did not overpower the other--perfect blend.
Trout ($8.99) - Yay! Mom's a Fan (4 stars) - 2 filets of Cajun style trout served with white rice, coleslaw, and a slice of bread. This was my mom's order and boy was she excited. Once the food got served, she loaded up on their salsa bar--several servings of lemons, tarter sauce, and salsa. I have never seen anyone move as quickly and methodically as she sliced and dipped her trout. I asked her if she liked it. She said she did, but I felt like I was slowing her down. I didn't get to try any of hers because she didn't share any of it--even though I shared mine. By her actions, I assume the trout was delicious. We both had matching clean plates.
I really like this place--the food was delicious, healthy, and very filling. I asked my mom if she would want to come back here, she first nodded and said "This place is cheaper than Market Broiler." So safe to say that Yay! My mom and I are Fans! Nothing better than great food and my mother to nurse me back to health. -

GARLIC BUTTER SWAI!
Heck yes, the fish deserved an all-caps shoutout...it's THAT good! My go-to menu item was actually the Catfish, but after reading the Yelp reviews about the White Ruffy aka Swai, I decided to give it a try. OMG yesssssss. It flakes perfectly and has the best consistency. And you MUST get the Garlic Butter sauce. I prefer getting my meal with their parsley fries and then I dip the fish & fries in their homemade tartar sauce and ketchup. Sounds weird, but is so bomb. And my boyfriend is a huge fan of their coleslaw. According to him, it's the best he has EVER had.
Their side salad is great too and comes with homemade dressing. The lime vinaigrette is so light & citrusy! And their grilled zucchini is also a wonderful addition to a meal. I prefer the grilled fish over the deep-fried options and even the tacos. I've been meaning to give their entree salads a try but I can never stray from my White Ruffy!
Seating can be a bit of a challenge if it's busy but can be found while you wait for your meal to be cooked at least. I can't say enough about CA Fish Grill...it's such a great (and delicious) Seafood option in the area.
Couple of tips:
-Plenty of parking in the lot. You can usually find extra behind the building if it's a busy night.
-They serve beer & wine.
-Unlike their Cypress location, this one does NOT offer Taco Tuesdays :(
-If you're a condiment fiend, this place is right up your alley! Salsa and tartar sauce galore at the condiment bar with Tabasco, Soy Sauce, Malt Vinegar and much more available at the tables.Listed in: It's Lunchtime!

The California Fish Grille offers a wide variety of well-priced seafood dishes. The atmosphere is busy, and the restaurant itself has a few large windows, which helps make the place more feel more lively and brisk. The fish comes with either a garlic butter sauce or a Cajun seasoning. They also serve several types of shellfish, which come perfectly fried. And everything comes with a refreshing coleslaw. I love their salmon in the garlic butter sauce or the Cajun mahi-mahi. The rice is certainly flavorful, and the fries are really good and well seasoned. They even offer sweet potato fries for those that want a little less starch in their meal. It's just a great place and a good alternative to more expensive seafood restaurants. The food's delicious, and you don't have to empty out your wallet.

My go to work lunch spot. If I could I could eat here EVERYDAY!
One word: WHITE ROUGHY with GARLIC BUTTER! I seriously crave this all the time. It's so cheap and healthy. I just LOVE this place! I've tried white roughys at other places, but no other place can compare to California Fish Grill!
It gets super crowded during lunch time and especially during lent.
Their clam chowder/ corn chowder/ shrimp wraps are also my faves. -

My family loves to eat here.. we do usually get it to go since they are always packed and seating is limited! (That is the only reason for the 3 stars).
The grilled zucchini is the perfect texture. Not mushy at all. Their mahi is amazing. Shrimp tacos are ok.. The staff is friendly too :)
Family of 4 with drinks (soda) can eat for about $35.00 -

I've been here multiple times :) & have always ordered the pollock fish & scallop fried combo with sweet potatoes because I just can't get enough of it XD
After tax it's about $11 something, but sssssoooo good!!!! & they give good portions for the price. -

Anaheim, CA
If I ever decided to conform to pescetarianism, I would probably eat here every other week. The fish are fresh, the portions are huge, and every dish is absolutely affordable. With every fish entree, you have a choice of cajun style or garlic butter sauce along with a side of rice or fries, bread, and coleslaw. The menu also offers tacos, burritos, fried dishes, chowders, and salads. They even have a decent salsa & condiments bar filled with lemons, different fresh salsas, tartar/cocktail sauce, etc.
Quick breakdown-
Salmon ($9.99): buttery, moist, and flaky.
Swai White Ruffy ($7.99): nothing amazing; I prefer New Zealand Orange Roughy (not offered).
Zucchini ($1.75): perfectly grilled and flavorful.
Rice: tried both the white and brown ($0.50 extra) rice on separate occasions and both were a tad bit dry.
Coleslaw: slightly tangy and and creamy.
Sweet potato fries: perfectly crispy on the outside, yet soft and fluffy on the inside. At $4.99, it's a bit pricey but if you order a charbroiled entree, you have the option of upgrading for an additional $1.49.
Tacos: surprisingly filling and start at $2.25
California Fish Grill simply offers fresh and healthy dishes. -

I used to hate fish. Now that I'm a grown up and have been eating more fish, i LOVE this place!!! easy and simple, you go up and order and they give you a number and you find your own seat. It gets pretty crowded during lunch/dinner time, but I usually am able to find a table. I usually order the trout, you can choose blackened or garlic butter, a pretty decent size, and it comes with rice and coleslaw. I'm pretty full when I'm done with my food. I've had their clam chowder, yum, their shrimp, fish and chips, salmon, fish tacos, grilled zucchini, I haven't had anything that wasn't good. Such fresh food with decent prices and so easy peasy!!!!! I wish they can open one down the street from me!!!!

The food here is served made to order and always tastes great! The price is very reasonable for the quality of the food, and the staff is attentive although kind of a muted friendly. Still the service is very prompt, and the food has always been top notch.
My favorite is the cajun salmon, with a side of their cole slaw and beans. Simple but tasty and I've never been disappointed because they had a 'bad day.'
The interior is unremarkable, but neither is it displeasing.
5 stars for the high quality of their servings and affordability -

I hit up fish grill everytime I'm feeling like changing it up a little. The anaheim location is kindaaaaa hard to find in that its in the cinema city strip mall thing, wedged in the right side right below that freeway road thing (wier canyon/yorba linda blvd?!) Ive only been to this location one time (although i frequent the irvine store quite more) but I must say that Fish Grill maintains a pretty good standard throughout all their stores...unlike damn mcdonalds where they have like a different flavor for the damn shamrock shake everywhere you go (but thats for another post)/
White ruffy is cheap good and...white & creamy. get the garlic butter on the side (youll love it) with the fish cajun style...maximize bang for your buck! I like to split fries/rice 50/50. The cole slaw is good...I dont normally like confusing my lackofappreicationforfinetastes palette with sweet/salty...but the little raisins/tangyness of the cole slaw really does it for me. End -

I really like this restaurant. This is the where stop for takeout pretty much whenever I don't feel like cooking. The food is very fresh and flavorful, and it feels light and healthy. It's also very affordable.
You can order fish either off the grill or out of the deep fryer (I think they also have chicken as an option). The rice is always cooked perfectly. They have a decent salsa bar. They also carry a small selection of wine and beer.
I *love* the salmon taco combo (seriously, I could eat this almost everyday). I also like the salmon meal with the cajun seasoning, and the grilled zucchini is a great side. -

I was honestly going to give this place an amazing review until I witnessed how shady this business could be. Today I discovered that someone had dropped their change on the floor (Only 2 dollars but hey it didn't belong to me) with both a business card with a name and phone number on it AND a receipt. I turned it in to the cashier and she just looked at it. I watched to see if they were going to do something (There is a glass window in front of the grills so you can see what is going on) but instead she went to a server talked to him and then I watched him take out his wallet and put the money in it. I was honestly shocked, if I knew that was going to happen I would have kept the money for myself. I signaled the server and asked if they found the person and he said "they put the money in the tip jar." I asked for the business card back and called the number on it and spoke to the person (who was an attorney) who thanked me profusely for calling. The server came back and looked scared that I had said something to the person and walked away. Seriously cannot believe they did that and my view of this business has completely changed. I hope i never leave anything here because they will just take it even when there was a name and number to call the person at. I should have given one star, but the food IS good.
They serve great fish pretty quickly. I love the cajun swai, formerly known as white ruffy and their beans are to die for. I've been coming to this place for years and I've yet to have something I disliked. The only thing I stay from is the fried calamari and shrimp. All you really taste is the heavy fried breading.
