This school is something else. Before I went to SJCC's Esthetician Program I looked into this one becuase there was no wait (RED flag). They were charging about $6k for the whole program and Romero swore they did financial aid.
Yo! I work in credit and know quite a bit about finances, financial aid, loans, etc. His 'financial aid' is NOT the govt guaranteed loan which will be tax deductible. It's a regular joe schmo loan through Wells Fargo. No different than a personal loan or putting it on your cc. I don't understand why he lies about that. One of my friends (who I met later) ran into the same thing. She even brought a tape recorder into a meeting with him to catch him in his lies.
Romero will rave about how much money he makes, how he worked in Beverly Hills, how he took a year off to do nothing because he had that much money bla bla bla.
After I went through school and got my license I worked with 4 girls who'd gone to CCC. None of them would recommend it. They complained of constant parking tickets. They also said they did not get enough training for State Board (the reason for going to school). Apparently my manager was caught tweezing another students eyebrows and got into trouble. She said they saw it as losing money they could charge for a brow tweeze.
If you are going to go to cosmetology school or want a cheaper place to get your hair or facials done, go to SJCC. They are much more professional and involved in actually teaching the students.
First and for most, i want to apologize for sounding childish, but that's just what this school is. Unprofessional. Money Hungry. This school is horrible! For clients, students AND employees! I was in the esthetics's program. The director of the schools name is Romero. The man doesn't know how to do anything. This man is also in denial about EVERYTHING. The parking situation is a huge deal. A meter maid comes to the parking lot about everyday and will give 50 dollar parking tickets. (i have 3 tickets to pay, and i was only guilty once.) His daughter is the receptionist and she has no people skills. She is rude to everyone and has made several students (and my old teacher Kathleen who is emotionally unstable) cry and very upset. WHATEVER YOU DO, DON'T GET ON HER BAD SIDE OF YOU GO TO THIS SCHOOL. SHE IS DISHONEST, AND WILL MAKE YOUR TIME THERE MISERABLE! You have to kiss their butts at this school to survive in it. Be prepared to get blamed for things you never did. Be prepared to have the energy sucked right out of you at this school. By the end of the day, you are depressed and in a horrible mood. This place is known for booking you clients, so you won't even have a lunch that day. If you refuse to take a client, you have to go home. (and pay for the time you miss) If you have any problems with any of the schools policies, employees, or products, don't even complain because they will make your time there a very unpleasant one. You have to deal with crying teachers, swallowing your pride, and HIGH LEVELS OF STRESS! The owner of the school is very greedy! For every hour of school you miss, it will cost you $9.50!!!! Imagine missing a whole day (about 80 dollars a day)! or two weeks! This school is also very bad at keeping you busy learning in the classroom. There have been numerous days where the students will sit in a hot, stuffy classroom for 5-6 hours a day, expected to find something to do (ex) reading, doing a "facial" on a doll) You pay $6,310.00 for this course. The adults at this school are more immature than the students. PLEASE. I'M WARNING YOU! GO TO SAN JOSE CITY COLLEGE OR ANYTHING ELSE!
oh yeah and careful with Kathleen, the Esthetics's teacher. She is a bi-polar weirdo! She brought in naked pictures of her when she was younger. It was weird...!!! Then she talked about sex stories and meeting men online and sleeping with them and laughing about it. Sounds funny... I know....but she is a raging lunatic!
I am taking CCC to court. I walked in there w/ long, healthy- silky hair. My hair is now 8 inches shorter, fried, w/ orange highlights. The owner and I met at the beginning, he said he would have his most senior person on the floor who is in his own words "meticulous about her work- esp. coloring". I didn't get anything I asked for. He/they are definitely money hungry! They asked for 120 in the beginning... that was a huge red flag. My mistake to give it in the beginning. I told her repeatedly my hair is very sensitive and the color has to be removed w/in 15-20 minutes. She left it in there for 45 minutes at least. Same with the highlights. Then she goes to cut my hair- and it became obvious she's never done layers in her life! I lost nearly 8 inches of my hair! She had the audacity to tell me she's done layers in the beginning and when I pointed out my hair is fried and you are taking way too long w/ my layers -cutting too much. She just got annoyed. Basically, this place needs to be shut down! They are ripping people off.
I've been to this place a handful of times and I really like it. The first time I got my hair high-lighted, I went to a regular salon. I paid alot of money for not a very good job. I had my hair done for a family engagement party. Not one person noticed my hair! I was there for 2 weeks. Then I decided to try a beauty college and see how it turns out. For almost a year now, I've been going to a college for my hair. They do a great job for alot less. Every time a student starts working with a customer, a teacher comes to review the process. The teacher asks the student and customer what they're doing and how to go about it. Half way through, the teacher checks the work. At the end, they ask the customer how they like the hair, if they're satisfied and sometimes how they can change it or make it better or different the next time. It does take a bit longer sometimes because they are students but it's soooo worth it. I don't know when I'll go to a regular salon again. I tell all my friends to go to colleges, esp CA Cosmet. Good service and friendly people.
