This state is famous for its barbecue and ribs. So why go to the generic local chain restaurants to eat good local home cooking. By far alot better quality of meat and flavor then any other chain joint. Atmosphere is nice and elegant good for dates and just casual enough to enjoy with friends. Prices are moderate but well worth the tag. Mashed potatoes are awesome. Aswell as the misc. bread basket on your table which has delicious corn bread!. Awesome ribs.. Good steaks. Staff is friendly and on par. Very crowded on the weekends. Highly reccomend this place.

Before heading to the Tuesday Night Opry, I stopped at Calhoun's across from the Rivergate Mall for dinner. Calhoun's serves BBQ specialties, ribs, chicken, seafood, steaks, salads, soups, sandwiches, desserts, and has a full bar serving handcrafted beers, wine, and mixed drinks. I was seated in the dining room at a booth. Each table had red & white checkered table covers. Since I wanted to save room for dessert, I ordered a Bar-B-Que Chicken Sandwich (with lettuce and tomato on a large wheat bun) with good fries and cole slaw. The BBQ sauce on the chargrilled chicken was tangy and had good flavor and the fries were decent. The best part of the meal was the Jack Daniels Pie (a pecan pie with small chocolate morsels & whiskey & served with vanilla ice cream topped with a thick caramel sauce) for dessert. The presentation was a bit sloppy, but I really enjoyed this sweet dessert with the vanilla ice cream. Overall, the food was good and the service was attentive (offered free refills on Diet Coke) and friendly. Y'all come back real soon!! Definitely!!
