3 reviews for Caldwell Park
I had to chime in on this park. I spent almost every Easter there as a kid and really enjoyed it. The river running through it is amazing to watch roll by and the Carter House Gallery is very interesting. Combine that with a wonderful aquatic park and you have a great family day planned and a cool way to beat the heat in Redding.
Best memory there:
I was walking through the park alone one day and I heard singing. The voice was incredible. It turned out to be a homeless man laying on his back across a picnic table and singing a heart-wrenching version of "Every Rose Has Its Thorn" by Poison. No instruments were involved. The guy was better than the original!
Make some memories at this great park!
Full of premium walking trails...6 mile loops...2 mile loops...one huge hill for the serious runners. There is a huge network of trails...check online for the Sacramento River National Recreation Trail, it connects with several other trail systems that connect to Keswick dam, the Sacramento River Rail Trail, and Mary Lake. The main trail in Caldwell park is wide, well-paved, with bathrooms, doggie bag posts, and benches at appropriate scenic points. I walk it several times a week and don't stop when the weather gets yucky. The view of the Sacramento from the Ribbon bridge last December was beautiful in the snow.
This 85 acre park can some times be referred to as Caldwell Park or Lake Redding Park. There are lots of things to do here... picnic, BBQ, boat ramp, fishing along the Sacramento River, walking trails, an Aquatic Center, Convention Hall, Salmon Fish Ladder and Skate Park. Dogs are allowed, on leash.
