I wish there was the demand for the shuttle to run all day and with greater frequency (especially during peak hours) but for now you have to take what you can get.
For what it is, I love the service. I used to work a few blocks away and it made it real nice to be able to visit friends after work (and not having to worry about not being able to bring my bike onto BART during peak hours).
The only real complaints I have is that it seems to fill up fast and there is only one shuttle so there are long waits between pick ups.
Hopefully someday there will be enough demand to extend hours and to maybe add a second shuttle. Hopefully someday. -

5 stars because it is really great that CalTrans is doing SOMETHING to encourage biking as a form of commuting. It has its issues though, that everyone should know before getting on.
Sometimes its late. Check the schedule, it comes often enough that it's not a big deal. It's one van going back and forth from Oakland to SF so you must imagine that it's not perfect 100% of the time. That said, it's really quick with no stops once you're on.
Sometimes it is full. This sucks because everyone is waiting around knowing that the next person to walk up cant ride. "Sorry bro!" Sometimes the reactions are worse than actually missing the bus. Also, the cliquey nature of some of the riders makes you feel like they would quicker squeeze a first-timer out in favor of their late friend than stick to the fair and equal nature of the thing. You are most likely to miss the bus on the very last ride of the commute either way.
It's cliquey now. I used to ride this bike shuttle DAILY for about 6 months a year ago and everyone was nice and friendly. The fact that everyone was a stranger really helped that.. people would wait after a full trailer and say "I can wait for the next one, no biggie." But now there are a few cliques. Really weird. They make first timers (or in my case a really old timer they just dont recognize) feel uncomfortable.. like it's their show, not CalTrans'
That said, it sure beats the hell out of taking your bike on a crowded bart train. Talk about leers and people making you feel bad. $1 each way!
This is for the Morning Oak-SF and Evening SF-Oak directions. My girlfriend who rides the reverse commute these days loves it because she's always the only one! If you have a reverse commute you can find no better or cheaper travel. -
