It is by far the best possible place to buy a skateboard in Portland
I created http://calsk8.com for the shop. I've loved working there and just love the shop. Howard, Paul and the crew are just an awesome group of guys. They are real and their love of skateboarding shows. What sets them apart from the mall stores is all the local stuff they do - supporting skatepark initiatives, lobby for legalizing skateboarding, and supporting local artists and companies.
I love their Cal's complete. Its a great deal for a board! I also have a couple of Sector 9 cosmic 3 longboards.
First off, I haven't really skated since probably 94 but I have fond memories of this place as a little kid. I recently was in the neighborhood and stopped in just to see the changes...it was pretty cool to see they have remained true to their roots as a core shop (instead of turning into a glorified streetwear shop like some places).
Add to that all the community involvement projects they have been a part of over the years - this is the type of place that makes you glad there are some small/local businesses still surviving.
