Maggie made both our wedding cake and grooms's cake, and she did a fantastic job. Both cakes looked wonderful, and tasted even better. Most highly recommended if you're looking for a cake, whether for a wedding or anything else!

Cake tasting was the one thing I was looking forward to most when wedding planning, I mean, free cake!? Sign me up. My now-husband and I planned on trying lots of cakes and having many tough choices. Unfortunately, we met with Maggie first and ended up getting two of her cakes! The whole story...
Maggie met us with our desired cake samples in a Starbucks and we were able to taste several cakes, fillings and buttercreams which she is able to make in different styles. My husband and I were very impressed with the cakes and we were able to quickly decide which was our favorite. Maggie worked with us to decide on a design that would work for us and very promptly emailed a professional quote.
Just to make sure we knew she was the girl for us, we met with another baker. It became very obvious very fast that Maggie was unbelievably professional, organized and knew what she was doing.
We ended up choosing the almond cake with cream cheese buttercream and a tart cherry compote for our wedding cake. As a surprise for my groom, we also had Maggie make a groom's cake in the shape of my betrothed's golf bag with chocolate fondant, chocolate cake and caramel buttercream. Both cakes were OUTSTANDING. I couldn't have asked for better cake, in fact, I wish we had more leftover wedding cake because it was soooo good we gobbled it up by the next morning after the wedding.
I look forward to the next excuse I have to order a nice cake because I will definitely be asking Maggie to make it for us. Brides, you will not go wrong with a cake from Maggie! -

Cakes by Maggie provided our wedding cake for our April 2011 wedding. We decided to go with Maggie because of her excellent reviews on-line, her price, and the taste of her samples.
We were satisfied with cake we got. At her recommendation, we ordered up and purchased 100 slices for our 85-person wedding. We only had 2 slices left-over.
Pros:
+ Our lemon-cake with raspberry-filling tasted good.
+ She makes her own fondant, so it actually tastes decent.
+ She set-up and decorated the cake on time.
+ Maggie is very sweet.
+ She worked within our limited budget ($455 for our cake and delivery).
Cons:
-Maggie works another job, and this is her side-business. She was often slow at answering e-mails (3-4 day turn around), which can be frustrating during the wedding-planning process.
- We went down an unconventional route and did not hire a florist for our wedding. I think Maggie is used to working directly with florists when decorating a cake, so it was a bit challenging to communicate about what would be appropriate flowers for us to buy.
If you're interested, I'd set up an appointment with Maggie to meet her and try her samples. -

Maggie made a fantastic cupcake creation for our wedding. We couldn't have been happier with it.
The flavors were delicious - banana cake with Italian meringue honey buttercream and chocolate cake with raspberry Italian meringue buttercream. We had a cutting cake on top, which she decorated with a whimsical lavender border to match our wedding colors. Also, she topped the cupcakes with lavender sugar accents and arranged the whole display with flowers. It was a gorgeous centerpiece for our wedding!
In addition, Maggie was great to work with. She happily accommodated some last minute requests that we made; she was very reliable; and her prices were lower than most of the other quotes we got.
If you want a beautiful, delicious cake made from the freshest ingredients for your wedding, definitely give Maggie a try! -

We found Maggie by a recommendation from our wedding photographer.
We were so impressed with the flavors she offered during our tasting that we decided to choose her for our wedding cake the moment we left the tasting.
Her cakes are so fresh, light, and flavorful. She only uses fresh ingredients. She uses Real butter in her buttercream frosting, not shortening. Once you have real buttercream you can't have the 'other' stuff. Maggie's buttercream is sooo smooth and creamy and just simply melts in your mouth.
We chose the coconut cake with passion fruit buttercream filling and lemon cake with raspberry filling. She only charges an extra $50 for two flavors, awesome. The lightness and light sweetness of her cakes was the perfect match to our Chinese banquet.
Her pricing is also very very affordable. She tells you exactly what you need based on your guest count and what cake design you were thinking of using. She is not opposed to using sheet cakes to cut the cost down also.
When our wedding day came, our cake looked perfect. I only gave her a picture to follow and the cake looked just like the pictures with a little bit of changes because we wanted to use real flowers. (I've included a picture of the cake.)
Maggie was the best and we have received multiple multiple compliments on our wedding cake. Her cake is so fresh that it's been 15 days since our wedding and we are still nibbling on the top cake tier; tastes just like it did on our wedding day. -

Based on Yelp reviews I called Maggie twice and left a message to possibly schedule a cake tasting. I really wanted to try the coconut cake with passion fruit filling but she never called me back. I called a 3rd time in hopes she would answer but I got her voicemail once again and just hung up. I was really looking forward to trying her cake, too.

There were positive reviews for "Cakes by Maggie," so I called for a consultation. Maggie was very professional with arranging a time and place for us to meet.
We met at a local Starbucks for the tasting. We tried at least five different cake flavors, and they were delicious. My favorite was the white cake with the raspberry preserves.
If you are interested in a three tiered cake, you can have a different flavor for each tier. Also, you can request a sheet cake as a supplement to the three tiered cake.
Set up and delivery charge from San Mateo to San Jose is $55.
We didn't use Cakes by Maggie as our vendor, but I would highly recommend her. -

I really liked working with Maggie. Her cakes are super yummy. nom nom nom. For my wedding, we had the coconut with passionfruit buttercream and chocolate with cookies & cream. Both of our choices were moist (very important for wedding cakes), sweet, and most importantly, eaten up by all of our wedding guests. Most of them got to try both flavors and lots of people couldn't decide which flavor they liked most. Even the coconut haters decided that they enjoyed our coconut selection. =)
Maggie was super sweet and supportive throughout the whole wedding planning process. I know she can also provide wedding favors, so if you're looking for petit fours or cookies, Maggie's your gal! -

Maggie is very professional and will accommodate your every need. She made our wedding cake to every specification we wanted (and we asked a lot). Thinking that it couldn't taste as well as it looked, the flavor was awesome!
She will make cakes for any occasion. I might ask her to make a birthday cake for my kids one day. -

I didn't end up going for Maggie's, because we decided not to go the traditional wedding cake route - but I think Maggie is great!! She really was receptive to my ideas for flavors. She was amazing, her prices were also super super reasonable and I would definitely have gone with Maggie even had I gone through with the tasting. A very very very professional baker - I was very impressed.

Maggie took my vision for my cake and blew it out of the park. My cake was so gorgeous! I was speechless when I saw it and the best part was that it tasted good as it looked. Her cake was so light and yummy and she uses the best and fresh ingredients. She is wonderful to work with and very talented..

Maggie is a great person to work with. I contacted her about two months before my wedding date and we worked out together with a plan quite quickly. She provided a complimentary cake tasting as well to help us decide which cake flavor and butter cream combination we love. She is flexible and could do an Asian style (less sugar and lighter taste) cake for us since majority of our guests are Asians. We ended up with two flavors for a 3-tier cake for about 75 guests count. Her cake is very delicious! And she also helped us set up the cake at our reception venue and make everything look perfect. I would definitely recommend Maggie for any special event!

Maggie is amazing! And her cakes are to die for!! I especially LOVE her Black Russian Cake (her own recipe), Coconut cake, and Carrot cake although she can create any custom flavors you can think up. Everything is fresh and very reasonably priced. She is very professional and makes you feel instantly comfortable. Although we ultimately ended up going with someone in the city for our wedding cake, I would recommend Maggie to friends and family in a heart beat! She only charges $45 for delivery to SF and if you send her a high res jpeg of your cake on wedding day, she'll reimburse you $30 from your contract price. It doesn't get any sweeter than that!

Maggie's cakes are not only beautiful but delicious as well. They are light and NOT heavy icky sweet like most wedding cakes. I chose Coconut Milk Cake with Passion fruit and White cake with Raspberry. There were only 2 pieces left after the reception! Her presentation was very professional and she listened closely to hear what I wanted. All I had to do was pick out my favorite flavor combination and she did the rest, including decorating the cake table at the reception. My daughter had a specific design in mind and the cake turned out just like she wanted. Very good experience!

I was the photographer at a wedding Maggie made the cake for. First of all the cake was stunning and flawless - every picture I took of it was gorgeous. Second, the passion fruit cake tasted so delisious, exotic and fresh. The bride was so excited about the cake - she kept talking about it and couldn't wait till it was served. The guests love Maggie's cake too, I don't think there was any cake left over.

i have no idea where to begin with maggie. so i was in charge of planning everything for my wedding (april 3, 2010). one main vendor i needed to find was somebody to make the CAKE. so naturally i started with famous/popular bakeries in the area. i was extremely disapointed with their work. i scheduled many tastings, i'm guessing those bakeries were only famous for the smaller birthday type cakes you buy when you walk in and they have those displayed. anyways, i think we went to like 10, and they were disgusting in taste, not very cooperative when it came to this "look" i was trying to describe, and VERY expensive on top of that. i got frustrated so i said there must be SOMEbody in the bay area who could make me a delicious cake, enough for all the guests (a couple hundred!), make it the way i want it to look exactly ( i was VERY very picky), decorate the table, deliver it to the hall for me, etc... so i resulted to searching on YELP and BAMN!!! there was MAGGIE! wonderful reviews so i said ok it cant hurt to schedule a tasting. from the moment we met her, she was just AWESOME. so professional, FRIENDLy, sweet, and nICE. she actually CARED about what we wanted and were looking for. she let us taste her most famous flavors. we picked almond cake with blueberry and creamcheese filling, and almond cake with fresh strawberries and whip cream filling, both were AMAZINGGGGGGGGGG. she made PLENTYyyyy, she gives liberal servings, unlike bakeries who make you pay for like 100 servings, but will only give you 50! so when she says 100 people, you will get at least 100 big slices! also, shes very affordable, dependable, always kept in contact with me via phone or email, she always responded immediately to my questions (only vendor who did that!). hmm oh and the look of it, she made it exactly the way i wanted down to the very smallest edible gold sparkle dust i requested, not to mention the whole thing was delivered, cake was decorated, it looked amazing, people are still asking me about it, it was delicious, more servings than expected, affordable, and just plain BEAUTIFUL. i dont know if im missing anything but i can go on for hours about her... if you're looking for a cake- big or small- call MAGGIE!!! SHES AMAZING!!!!!!!! :)
