WOW!!! OMG!!! AWESOME!!! BEAUTIFUL!!! TOO PRETTY TO EAT!!! are just some of the compliments i get whenever i bring cookies, cupcakes or cakes created by
Cake Creations to my friends' parties. Yesterday was no exception, i brought a custom made cake, a cake shaped like a guitar, to a friend's 21st birthday, it was an instant hit!!! Everybody wanted to take photos of the guitar cake among the ooohs and aahs. My friend's mom told me it was too pretty to eat and she wanted to freeze it. Then the birthday boy, i mean, guy, couldn't bear to cut it. Girls and Women are usually the ones who go ga-ga over a nicely decorated cake, not guys. When the guys are impressed, it is really something!!! I wish i could give the Cake Creations, especially their decorators, more than 5 stars!!! They really pay attention to details, i brought them photos and drawings of how i wanted the cake to look like, it came out better than i expected. They always go above and beyond...i requested no chocolate in the cake, when i showed a little doubt that the cake had chocolate, they double checked and called me afterwards to let me know that the cake indeed had no chocolate. I was so impressed!
The cakes i ordered were always fresh and delicious. They have enough varieties of frosting and fillings to please most people. They also have a website with photos of the cakes they had created if you need help with cake designs.
In conversation, some of my friends have said to me, "oh, i stopped by your bakery today", and i immediately knew they meant Cake Creations, and i am very very happy to recommend them if you ever need a cake :) -

COFFEE CRISP IS PLAIN JANE. NOTHING SPECIAL!
This is only for kids, not for a mature pallet! Trust me!
I bought their infamous coffee crisp cake and was very disappointed!!
It was just a plain vanilla cake that had sugary crunchy pieces of coffee flavored crumble on it.
I should have just gone to Wholefoods. Oh well, live and learn my friends! -

cake creations wasn't open when i chanced by but the adjoining cafe was. i could see the door connecting the shops was wide open.
8 kinds of coffee in thermos were ready to go. clerk recommended the "hawaiian" kona blend, their best seller.
eats:
- ham & cheese crossaint(3.25)
flaky, buttery crossaint, tasteless ham, flavorful cheese
clerk even warmed it up! so cool tasty, would buy again
-kona coffee so smooth, no bitterness, really enjoyed it.
-muffin, date old (4/4) 1/2 priced.
cinnamon, blueberry, ...
still pretty good
crumbs:
-clerk suggested many times to buy.
-i told him i'm buying what i want to eat. he understood
-clerk tried to be helpful. wasn't overly aggressive. cool, friendly personality
-after i got the muffins, he was so happy. so was i after one bite. -

I attended a 4-year-old's birthday party today. I was going to be "good" and skip the cake until the birthday boy's mom mentioned that the cake was from Cake Creations. She said she'd searched "cake" on Yelp and it had excellent reviews.
YelpGeek that I am, I remembered my buddy James L. reviewing it and knew just where it was. And that I hadn't tried it before. Dammit. Resolve out the window, Yelpcuriosity set in.
It was a chocolate cake with chocolate mousse filling. The chocolate was lighter chocolate than I would ordinarily like, but in this cake it was quite tasty. The texture of the cake and the mousse were just right - the cake was fresh and light. Unlike James, I thought the cake wasn't overly sweet, and I can't say the same for most bakeries. I skipped the icing because it was white and had a colorful Lightning McQueen depicted on it. I almost never bother with a non-chocolate frosting.
It's interesting to see that they offer more than just baked goods. Now I that I've tried Cake Creations I am impressed. -

I just discovered this place recently even though I work only a few blocks away and drive somewhat past it on my way home. It's tucked into a small strip mall in the Fiesta Gardens neighborhood. So it's hard to find. But what a find it is.
A co-worker brought one of their cakes in for someone's birthday and she said it was nearby and that the owners are Filipino. So they have Filipino-style cakes (which means they are lighter and less sweet... which is what I prefer) and Filipino food.
Now, I'm really not into Filipino food even when I grew up in the Philippines. But I have cravings for it every now and again. I guess it's a comfort-food type of thing.
So I went there right after work (they close fairly early, at least in my book). I tried the fresh lumpia (not fried and all veggies), the chocolate croissant, the cheese danish and the coffee crunch cake. I have not had coffee crunch cake in years. For those who don't know what it is, it's really a light sponge cake with light cream frosting and crunchies (honeycomb) on top. It doesn't really taste like coffee (for those who don't drink coffee like me, that's a good thing). But it is quite a heavenly gastronomical treat. I must have gained 5 lbs. after eating all this even though I shared half of everything with my fiance. Oh, did I forget to mention the delicious langue de chat (or lengua de gato or cat's tongue) cookies?
I decided I wanted to go back and try more things but not any time soon for the sake of my weight. I went back last week and tried the cranberry orange muffin and one of the scones (I can't remember which one), which we ate for breakfast the next day and they were still quite good. I also bought a mango cake for dessert. By the way, they have individual slices of cakes so you can get your fill of dessert for one day without buying an entire cake, which is more really for special occasions. The mango cake was light and scrumptious as any I've ever tasted. I just wished there was more mango in it though as I love mango. I also tried their chicken empanada, which was great. I'm technically a vegetarian but I can't pass up the occasional cultural experience through food.
I haven't tried their sandwiches yet. But then it is a bakery and when I go there, I just get so excited and overwhelmed with the vast array of goodies that I can't even think about something as mundane as sandwiches :)
I haven't tried their specialty, made-to-order cakes yet either. They have cake displays of the most amazing cakes I've ever seen in an actual bakery. They look like something from Cake Boss (one of my favorite shows and probably the only reality show I watch other than Dancing with the Stars). They are colorful, original, creative and look expertly done. Not like the cheesy, traditional stuff you usually see at bakeries. I checked out their photos in Yelp! and Facebook and I am so blown away by all the types of decorated cakes (and cupcakes) they've done for birthdays, weddings, etc. I am looking for an excuse to get one but nobody in my family has a birthday until March next year. Maybe Thanksgiving?
The owners are so nice. The gentleman there was very helpful and was smiling the entire time. The ladies were also very attentive and pleasant. All of them have offered to deliver cakes to my work if we ever wanted it. And they said that I could call in for a sandwich and it would be ready when I got there.
With great offerings and customer service. I hope this place lasts a very long time as I have more things still to try and enjoy! And yes, it's good for Filipinos and non-Filipinos alike. -

Helpful for a cake emergency.
We had a 'cake emergency'. We needed cake at the last minute for a birthday party (planning oversight on our part) and Cake Creations came through.
I don't encourage you to have emergencies just to experience the joy of Cake Creations. If you give them lead time, I'm sure the cake will be delightful as well. -

We were very pleased with our 4 year old's birthday cake from Cake Creations. The cake surpassed our expectations and was just lovely! Stephanie was easy to work with, pleasant, helpful and really talented (as evidenced by her fine fondant work, choice of pinks used and icing technique). We sent her a pic of a character we wanted sculpted and it came out perfect -unbelievable! The cake, though slightly on the sweeter side was also yummy (ours was a vanilla sponge with chocolate mousse filling). We would definitely order from them again, and recommend them whole-heartedly!

I attended a frnd's birthday party and the cake was delicious. I asked about the shop where they brought the cake from ...and it was this place -- Cake Creations..
It was their Raspberry cake -- if you are bored of chocolate -- do try this one once..
Next time, I went myself and bough their coffee cake -- yummy :)
Their cakes are totally worth the cost..
Moreover the lady mentioned they make everything from scratch and if you give them a call ahead of time, they will make sure they have the flavour of your choice :) -

Another yelp find! I found this cute cafe tucked away in a little strip mall looking for a last minute cake for a friend. I sampled the coffe crunch which was surprisingly light and airy. The coffee flavor is concentrated in the little crunchy bits that they top off your cake with. It is a little pricey, an 7 or 9 inch cake set me back $35.

My son recently turned one and since this is the only party we'll be able to pick the theme for, we decided on a Beatles theme. We came into Cake Creations with a wrinkled up print of the Beatles yellow submarine. We didn't give too many instructions since I wasn't sure exactly what I wanted. The lady quickly jotted some things down and said she'd look online for the submarine. To be honest, I was worried about what it might look like.
I was pleasantly surprised to pick up the cake and see that it was fabulous (see photo). They added some touches that made it look great and it tasted delicious too.
If I ever want a cake with a special theme or design, I will definitely be back!
We also tried a few other goodies when we came to order the cake. The cakes and cupcakes were delicious. We had some muffins with great flavor, but they were not as moist as the cakes. -

Langue de Chat. That's all you need to know. Soooo good and soooooo buttery. And they are made from scratch with extra love.
Pretyy cool place that does custom cakes. They also serve a bunch of different things. You can get cakes, potstickers, cookies, coffee, muffins, springrolls, quiche, and empanadas. The list goes on. Very nice lady behind the counter as well.
Might try them for a catering event, as we saw a bunch of people come in and pick up their orders. -

Their croissant egg, ham & cheese sandwiches, creme puffs, mango cake, banana custard cake and strawberry shortcake cake are all musts.
I started coming to them to pick up birthday cakes as well and plan on trying them all...so I'll be coming back as friends/family birthdays come up. They make beautiful specialty cakes that are super yummy!
Your friends & family will thank you ;) -

Vicky and her sister at Cake Creations Bakery in San Mateo have been our favorite Bakers for past 10 years. Their cakes are the best! Other than 3rd birthday cake she baked all of my son's birthday cakes starting from the 1st one. My son gives the specification for his cake either drawings or a picture, she bakes those wonderful cakes. They amaze us every year!
We hired Vicky & her sister for all our cake needs for life time:-). I hope they don't move from this place. -

I found Cake Creations on Yelp when I was looking for some one to do my wedding cake, not a great time to try a new bakery granted but was not currently associated with a good bakery. I looked through their photos and I was impressed with what I saw and thought I'd give them a try. I took in a picture of what I wanted and so delighted when It arrived, it was exactly what I wanted even better. Everyone at the reception raved that it was the best tasting wedding cake that they'd ever had and I am in total agreement. i highly recommend them, I will be ordering all my cakes from Cake Creations in the future.

This place is super yummy deliciousness! My friend first introduced me to their pastries years ago when he got me a cake and cream puffs for my birthday. I do not have a sweet tooth but this place has turned me into a fan of sweet treats.
I finally had the chance to check out the place in person the other day. It is a quaint bakery with outdoor seating. But, I believe they just expanded their bakery by acquiring the store next door. Although the freshly baked pastries glistened with goodness, I ordered the grilled cheese sandwich with bacon since it was lunchtime. To my delight, it was filled with the thick slices of bacon and cheddar cheese. It was sooooo good! I also had the veggie spring rolls which are made fresh daily, and the shanghai lumpia is a favorite of mine as well. The best thing about this place is that they do not skimp on the portions. They give you large portions for a small price.
I also had the opportunity of meeting the bakers who gave me a tour of their kitchen. This is a huge operation as their cakes are their best sellers. I recommended this place to my girlfriends who are looking for customized wedding cakes since they are amazingly creative in their cake creations. I especially loved trying their marzipan.
All in all, this is a great find to grab a sweet treat or lunch! Can't wait to go back and try the other items on the menu! -

I used to come once a week for my cream cheese danish fix, but not lately. I decided that I wanted one for my Saturday morning breakfast to brighten my day of studying.
I ordered one cream cheese danish and noticed red kiss sprinkles were on top for Valentine's Day. Also the glass case showed other Valentine's Day treats. My eyes zeroed on the red velvet cupcake. I immediately wanted one. My purchases all together were under $5. Not too bad. The cream cheese danish was delicious. I was disappointed about the red velvet cupcake. It was moist in the middle, but mainly dry. Also I was somewhat surprised to find cream filling in the middle. The frosting was really good and it had a small frosted heart.
Not sure that I would get another red velvet cupcake here, but I will definitely come back for my danishes.Listed in: Hmmm...Cupcakes

A nice, small neighborhood bakery right under the freeway.
I recently ordered their fruit basket cake - it's slightly more expensive than Sheng Kee's, but the quality is better. The fruit inside the cake is much fresher, and you get a lot more of it here than you would at Sheng Kee.
One minor quibble is that the (whipped cream) frosting is a lot thicker and sweeter than they used to make it a few years ago, but keep in mind I come from a family where eating cake without any frosting was usually considered "too sweet." At least it's not buttercream frosting, which I abhor.
Most people will probably find the low-fat scones too dry and not sweet enough, but as I said above, for me the sweetness level is just right, especially when consumed with green tea.
The rating should really be 3.5 stars, but I'm rounding up because it's a small/local business and because it generally fits my taste buds, which most bakeries can't seem to do.Listed in: FOOOOOD! (on the Peninsula!)

Ordered a cake for my cousin's baby shower about three weeks ago. From the very beginning, Stephanie was quick and responsive to all my requests and emails. She met and worked with me to accomodate my budget and specific design requests. Needless to say when I picked up the cake, everything was right, down to the very last detail! The cake turned out AMAZING!! It was beautiful and delicious! The mom-to-be loved it and it was a huge hit at the baby shower!

It's my neighborhood, and I like that when I go in, the proprietor smiles and says hello like he is very happy to see me. They serve fancy coffee drinks, but it's not really their strong suit. (The coffee is dandy though.) What I've Eaten And I've Loved:
- Chocolate Croissant (buttery and good)
- Baked Pork Bun (zap in micro for 30 seconds)
- Chicken Salad Sandwich (gold - GOLD - standard for what a sandwich should be)
I like nice, neighborhoody spots. So five stars. -

Coffee Crunch and I first met at my coworker's surprise birthday dinner in San Francisco about a month ago, and I've been thinking about it ever since. I don't even like coffee but this cake was to die for! It's not too sweet (which I love) and has just the right amount of fluffiness. It was so yummy that I decided to order one to take to my boyfriend's house for Thanksgiving. After looking at some pictures on Yelp, I even decided to order some pumpkin tarts to take to my own family. They were so cute! I've only seen egg tarts at the Chinese bakeries before, so these mini pumpkin pies immediately captured my heart.
They seemed very busy when I called to place my order the day before Thanksgiving, but didn't rush me off the phone and were very kind. I was also impressed that they were able to take my order and fulfill it at such short notice - they were even open for a few hours on Thanksgiving day!
The man who was at the counter when I went to pick up my cake Thanksgiving morning was also really funny. He had saved some extra "crunch" for me to sprinkle on the cake, and when I asked him how I should sprinkle it on, he said "Like this!" and covered his eyes with one hand while making a sprinkling motion with the other. Haha!
I am already looking forward to the next birthday in my family because I will be back for another coffee crunch cake. If you check out their website, you can also see how they can make a cake in just about any shape you want. -

This is right around the corner from my house...so super convenient.
The owners, Vicky & Pablo, are so, so nice and get to know you quickly - I love that! Its really nice to come in for a bite and get such a personal greeting.
Its a small, clean shop that is obviously a bakery, but also a deli. There is an array of choices for breakfast including a coffee bar that my hubby frequents. Sandwiches and a variety of others foods for lunch with lots refrigerated drinks, small snacks & chips. There are a few tables and some chairs out front so if you are not in a rush you can sit back and enjoy...and still come back for that dessert you tried not to order! Their hours are great - 6-5:30 M-F and 7-3 on Sat.
I haven't eaten everything there but here are things I would recommend:
*breakfast burrito
*breakfast croissant (with ham or bacon, egg & cheese)
*any sandwich on their HOMEMADE wheat bread (not a carb conscious bread...but oh so addictive)...favs in our family are tuna, turkey, chicken salad, ham
*spring rolls (with or w/out peanuts) - off the hook!!
*great selection of other "easy eats" for those of you on the go: salads, potstickers, lumpia, pork buns, cut up fruit, parfaits...
*the goodie section (baked goods) is yummy but our favs are the apple sticks, chocolate croissant, choc chip/chunk cookies, and there are always a nice selection of decorated cookies/cupcakes usually reflecting the season or upcoming holiday/event.
From what I have seen of the displays and heard around town they make some awesome cakes as well!
I like the food & love the down home "NORM!" feeling you get from this neighborhood spot - so its five for sure!Listed in: My Neighborhood

We tried the red velvet cupcake and a mini flan cup, some Filipinos may know it as lecheflan. The cupcake was just okay. It had sweet cream cheese icing not only on top but through the middle of it. I guess it's hard to compare to my mom's red velvet recipe. The flan was also mediocre. Didn't have that egg taste to it you would expect and the top part seemed a little hard/dry. I've actually made better at home... It's just the caramalization of the sauce part that hard. Nothing super spectacular about either that would keep us coming back.
They do offer other various things like lumpia shanghai & fresh lumpia, which unfortunately they didn't have either of when we went. They also have a sandwhich menu to order from. -

Been coming here for years - used to get my hair cut next door and I also took karate in this same little shopping center. My grandma would bring me here after wards to buy a cookie or a cupcake and it was the highlight of my day :)
Haven't been here for a while though and came on Thanksgiving to pick up a pumpkin pie for my grandpa - who ended up not being home when we went to drop it off so we ate it and it was the best pumpkin pie ever. Came back the next day for another one to bring to grandpa and once again he wasn't home but that's a different story I'm sure you don't care for. Anyways, while I was at the shop this second time I had to try one of their red velvet cupcakes that I seen. I was a little disappointed looking at it because it seemed like there wasn't that much frosting but as I ate it I noticed there was a dip in the center of the cupcake and it's filled with the frosting - yummm =D
They had so many other things that looked really good so I know I'll be back soon enough to try more and so should you!Listed in: Cupcakes, cupcakes and more…

I was looking for good cookie places in San Mateo on Yelp, and this place came up...so i went to check them out.
It's a small store, but they really have a wide variety of things...from pastries to lumpia and boxed fried rice and pork lunches (or dinners, i suppose). They also had coffee, sandwiches, smoothies and snow cones! Awesome!
I wanted to try a little of everything...so...
I got 4 different kinds of cookies (chocolate chip, peanut, snicker doodle and oatmeal) and then they have these really cute heart shaped chocolate chip cookies where half of it is covered in chocolate and little pink and white heart shaped sprinkles (so i got some of those too). and a brownie.
I have yet to try the brownie, but it looks good. It has frosting on it (and is individually wrapped!). The cookies were ok. They were all really light and i prefer denser chewier ones, but they were still tasty. (a good coffee combo).
... I got one apple stick (very light puff pastry with apple inside (kinda reminded me of the ones they have at McDonalds)).
...and a slice of quiche (it had ham in it) ...I warmed it up at home, it was pretty good. It was very eggy and creamy and the pastry part was light. It was well balanced.
I also got a breakfast sandwich (which you can get all day, not just for breakfast!). I got the sausage, egg and cheese on a bagel. (kinda reminded me of the ones they have at McDonalds). It was a slice of American cheese (you know, Kraft singles) melted and a sausage patty and egg (not poached, scrambled, but one piece of egg).
...and...a cinnamon bun (it was pretty typical).
I also got a medium cup of coffee. it was supposed to be a mocha, but didn't really taste like it. But the coffee was strong and good.
So I got about 12 items (two were half price)..all for about $20. Not bad!
All the pastries were pretty good, but nothing really fantastic. Although, I didn't try their cake. They even have cakes that they shape like other things (like on Ace of Cakes on the Food Network). Pretty cool.
The man behind the counter was nice. While I wouldn't say he was super smiley or anything, he, like many others, are affected by the poor economic times. He said he might consider closing shop and go home for a while and then seeing if the economy is better in a few months...then he'd come back. How sad! but it's true. But he hasn't made the decision yet, so there's still time for you to go check it out. -

I have a mixed review for these folks, although I think they are mostly pretty good.
1. Cupcakes....just okay. I had a special World Series chocolate cupcake and it tasted incredibly bland. I am hopeful that it was only the specialty cupcakes that are this dull.
2. CAKE: Their cakes are DELICIOUS, FLUFFY, FLAVORFILLED, RICH treats. I ordered a special mango cake for my hubby Ed's bday with fresh whipping cream. The whipping cream frosting/filling was filled with bites of fresh mango diced up...so good.
3. Empanadas: good, but dry. I like the chicken better than the beef. Perhaps they should use less crust. Too much crust for the amount of filling.
4. Cha Su Bao (bbq pork bun): these were not very good because, they were dry. The filling is okay, but the dough is terrible because they wrap it after they make them and they get all chewy and hard. They need to NOT wrap them individually in saran wrap.
5. Coffee: TERRIFIC
6. SERVICE: mostly good. A couple owns the place I think. They are super nice...she is kind of a hard seller sometimes..asking me to buy more than I plan to, but he is just friendly and so is she. There is a young girl who works in there. She is a bit slow but, nice.
OVERALL: AOK.
They also have tons of bakery items that I have not tried yet and breakfast burritos and sandwiches.....
Once I try these than I will RE-REVIEW this recent find:) -

I love Cake Creations!
Service is personal- a nice little mom n' pop shop with friendly owners, Vicky and Pablo.
Food is excellent!!!- Order their cakes and you will be amazed. The cakes are light, fluffy, and not overly-sweet. Very unique and fresh! I'm ordering my wedding cake here.
I frequent this cafe for lunch and it's a local favorite in the neighborhood. Sandwiches are made to order and Vicky prepares daily lunch specials that are just like homemade meals. They have a variety of baked goods and seasonal goodies for your to snack on and buy.
All their items are well priced, very reasonable.

I love love their strawbery shortcake.
The strawberries are so fresh and the cake is dreamy. The icing is not too sweet, but light and creamy at the same time. The cake is fluffy and yummy. I dont know how to describe it but it is really really good. We always find any occasions to order it. Everyone birthdays, baby shower, chinese new year, thanksgiving. It is slightly more expensive, but its so good. Our friends who had it, always asked for second slice. I had two slices this morning from my cousin's baby shower. -

I've had one cake and two sets of cupcakes made by Stephanie - all amazing. I'm not sure what was better, the wonderful, original decorations or the great fresh taste!
After just a couple of emails, Stephanie made quite possibly the cutest "Kitty Cat" cake for my daughter's birthday. Did I mention it was dairy-free to accommodate her sensitivity to dairy and was still delicious?
She also made beautiful glamour themed cupcakes for my older daughter that were absolutely adorable with little purses, necklaces, and lipsticks!
I can't recommend Stephanie enough. If you give Cake Creations a try, you will not be disappointed -
