Yup still 5 stars.  After the awesome wedding cake Gabby made for me a few months back, I knew I had to enlist her services for my husband's 30th birthday.

Through a joint kid-themed party for him and his best friend.  One of the absolute highlights was the 3 tiered cupcake tower for the boys.  I had some crazy notion that they could be decorated with the guys' favorties things.  I emailed Gabby some of my off-the-wall ideas, thinking she would rein me in on what she could actually create.

Well, she created every single thing I asked for (I'm still freaking stunned).  Here's the awesome candy pieces she made that topped the delicious cupcakes:
- a black goat (homage to HIMYM)
- UCLA logos
- faces of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
- the Green Man (It's Always Sunny...)
- snowboards
- Wii remotes
- Guitar Hero guitars
- AND the Puffy Shirt from Seinfeld.

How she pulled it off...probably black magic.  Delicious black magic who's leftovers were still chocolatey and moist 5 days after the party.  Oh, and she was a great direction-giver when I called her frantically after getting lost on the way to the bakery for pickup.  Yay, Gabby!

Gabby is really good! She's creative and all her work is great. I picked one up for my sister's birthday and the whole party loved it... it wasn't enough for everybody I wish I could have had a larger cake, maybe a 2 layered cake. Your money's worth!

Just wanted to drop you a note to say THANK YOU for such a beautiful and DELICIOUS baby shower cake.  Of course it was the hit of the party and blended in with the decor.  Words like Beautiful, amazing and outstanding were words to describe the exterior of the cake and then when we cut the cake word like HEAVEN and lots of Mmmm Mmmmm good!  I was talking to one person as she ate and the cake so fresh that she couldn't pick it up with her fork!  I must say I had a time cutting it because it was so flaky!  Gabby was a breeze to work with, I basically sent her the photos of the baby bedding and it was on!  I hope when I get married or have a baby that she's still available and reasonable!!!  mmmmm I'm going to have a slice now!

Although we didn't get to eat much cake at our own wedding on 8/22/09, other than the ones that we smashed into each other's faces, we heard great reviews from our guests on the chocolate layered and lemon layered cake that we ordered from Gabrielle.  We also thought our cake was BEAUTIFUL.  To stay within budget, we originally wanted something very plain - just offset white squares in 3 tier with a navy blue rim - but Gabrielle suggested adding an orange paisley element from our wedding, in just small accents around the cake - and she sent me a lovely sketch to illustrate it.  I adored it, and she was SO reasonable about adjusting the pricing so that it STILL stayed within our budget that it was a no-brainer!  We had some orange flowers in key places on cake too, but I didn't think it needed more than a little flower topper, it was so nicely iced.

We also regret that we didn't get to go to our own tasting, because we planned our Santa Clara wedding from 3,000 miles away in Boston.  But Gabrielle had no problem doing a sampling for our friends, who reported to us that she was so sweet, all her cakes were so delicious and pretty, and they she was hands down the best option of 3 places that we sent them to.  Clearly you can't go wrong with Cake Coquette!  Delicious, gorgeous, creative, flexible and professional!  I will add a picture when I get them and if I can figure out how!

I like theme dress-up parties.  So for my birthday I did a harajuku-kareoke night.

You simply can not do Harajuku with an average cake.  So I contacted Gabby,  I already sampled her goods at a tasting, and all I told her was "hazelnut - flavor harajuku". And she totally OVERdelivered. I squealed like a piglet when I saw it. WhEEEEE.

My beautiful cake was a metallic pink, complete with leopard-print accessories, swirls and hand painted bows, baubles and hearts. And when it came out of the box, I heard shouts of "Make sure you take a picture." and "Where did you get that?"

AND - "Is that fondant?"  and I was so proud and happy to exclaim - "Hell No. I hate that shit." It was, a delicious buttercream outside with  hazelnut inside. And the inside hazelnut cake matched perfectly - it was moist but not oily, flavorful and not sugar sweet.

And Gabby is a doll of a person and so easy to work with. Her cakes are beautiful and scrumptious.
I ordered a cake for my work birthday too.  Will update.

Cake Coquette is FANTASTIC !! Gabby is very helpful and attentive. I really satisfy for what she did with the birthday "car" cake. Surely the cake become centerpiece and guests were amazed. It tastes good too ! I really recommend her for anyone who wants to make an event special, as she doesn't charge a lot like the other cakery. Others will have some minimum charge and didn't want to go 'further' than the price should be. But Gabby is so wonderful, she would help you as far as she can. I have budget issue but I still want the cake looks good, and she is willing to add some more details. I'm sooooo happy with the result, more than I expected. =)

Thank you Cake Coquette for making my event memorable !!! For you guys who are trying to find a great place for a custom cake maker, definitely call her ! Don't wait and no need to look into others anymore..because I did already, and believe me Cake Coquette is the ultimate answer.

I found Cake Coquette here on Yelp and I must say the reviews steered me in the right direction. I contacted Gabrielle after viewing her website. I gave her my ideas over the phone, sent her an email and my idea came to life. Her work is AMAZING! The presentation was absolutely FABULOUS! In addition, her pricing is very reasonable for the quality, appearance and taste.

If you ever need a custom cake, Gabrielle is definitely the Cake Diva!

My friend brought up a good point today.  Who would give a bad review to their own wedding cake?  Might as well give the bride 3 out of 5 stars, right?

Well, guess what?  I am not even getting married, and I am giving Gabby, aka Cake Coquette, 5 enthusiastic stars.  You see, my friend is planning his wedding, and I, as his best man, try to help whenever I can.  I am sure they could have handled cake tasting on their own, but . . . come on!  Who knows more about cake than I?  In the words of Chris Rock, "fat people don't fail cooking classes."

You would be hard pressed to find a nicer and more patient person than Gabby.  It took my friend and his bride a long time to make a decision, and it probably would have taken longer if I hadn't been there.  (Sorry, I had to give myself a little plug here).  Every question we asked, every challenge we tried to throw at her, Gabby responded with "absolutely," "no problem," and "I can do that."

It's not surprising that we couldn't make up our minds, because every cake she showed us was truly a work of art.  If they look half as good in real life as they do in the pictures, I think the guests at my friend's wedding will be in for a real treat.

Gabby brought 6 cake samples for us to taste.  After much deliberation, my friend decide on a white cake with strawberry jam filling for one tier and a devil's food cake with hazelnut for their second tier.  If I had to offer some criticism--and wouldn't be a real Yelp review without it--I'd say that all cakes tasted pretty ordinary.  Don't get me wrong, they were delicious, but the taste wasn't out of this world.  I guess for a wedding cake you want to have something more agreeable, so . . .  Minor details.

The price she quoted us was very, very reasonable.  I mean, for the beauty she creates, and she makes every single cake herself, she could easily charge more.

Outstanding service, beautiful cakes and reasonable prices.  Check out her website and schedule an appointment right now (she doesn't have a storefront).  You will not be disappointed.

Oh Gabby... i love you more than cupcakes! Gabby is incredibly creative, helpful, and talented! Not only are her cakes absolutely gorgeous, they taste WONDERFUL too! I will never throw another party without one of her creations there! I threw a bridal shower for my best friend and we did a cooking themed party, so Gabby made a three tiered cupcake cake with little cooking utensils on every cupcake! It was so gorgeous, no one wanted to eat it, but when someone finally did try one, they were gone instantly, moist, not too sweet, and to-die-for frosting... (that can make or break a cupcake, duh!)!
Gabby communicated with me all via email because of our busy schedules, but she was very responsive and helpful.  She was an absolute delight to do business with. And for her intricate designs, she is incredibly affordable! Everyone loved the cake so much, the bride is having Gabby do her wedding cake too! She truly knows the meaning of customer service and satisfaction! Thanks Gabby for making my party!

Gabby's cake creation for our wedding last week was TIGHT!!! My fiance (well, now wife...WEIRD) wanted a subtle 70's theme, so Gabby wove in green & orange flowers, and a cool pattern of modeling chocolate circles in different sizes. It was subtle and very tasteful. Long story short, she does awesome & tatsy work, and is very collaborative.

I love that she doesn't use fondant!! She's a self-professed icing obsessor....so no fondant, and instead just a smooth sea of beautiful and tasty buttercream.

A group of us were celebrating in the wine country for one of my friends birthdays. She is gluten intolerant and I needed to find a cake kind of at the last minute. I called Gabrielle and she made a cake within one day for me. All of my friends were totally impressed especially my friend who was celebrating her b'day. Gabrielle is very artistic and the cake was gorgeous. She asked me if I wanted a traditional cake or a modern cake. I said modern and let her go to it. It was a chocolate care and was truly outstanding. My friend who has had many gluten free products said that it was one of the best cakes she has had. Thank you Gabrielle!

Gabby was so easy to work with. My fiance and I picked up a sample box containing a dozen small cakes for tasting for $15.00. We decided on which flavor we liked (it was tough competition cause so many of the samples were super delicious), we gave her a picture of the wedding cake we found online and that was it! When the day arrived, the cake came in looking super beautiful and tasted absolutely delicious. All our guests LOVED it. I would highly recommend Gabby's services and will definitely utilize her services for myself in future.

Gabby created cakes for my office a couple of times. One for a baby shower (which had colorful polka dots and cute little baby shoes). The other for a birthday (gluten-free with perfect script and intricate roses). The designs were fabulous and tasted even better...especially the gluten-free cake. Even if you aren't allergic to gluten, you should sample one. It's like pure fudge. Heaven! Gabby is a delight to be around and wonderfully creative. If you need a custom cake, Cake Coquette is the only way to go.

Gabby was a pleasure to meet. She graciously came to meet with me. She brought several flavors for us to taste. As I gave her ideas about the theme that I had in mind for my son's birthday party; without hesitation took out her pencil and started sketching what turned out to be an amazing cake for my son's third birthday. He loved all the sea animals that Gabby incorporated into the cake. Everyone enjoyed how moist the cake was. Thanks again for making my little one smile!

Getting a cake from Gabrielle is a wonderful experience!   I had the opportunity when I ordered one as a wedding gift for my sister (for the event of course).  My goodness, though I had seen her portfolio, she went above and beyond in creating the most beautiful work of art ever -- and it was delicious.  If you check out her website, it is the photo on the "order" page; pretty yellow buttercream flowers all over with green vines, the layers filled with real fruit ...

She is truly a professional who is passionate about her creations.  One can tell she loves her job, as her excitement shines through when she works with you to create the MASTERPIECE!!!
The process is fun and I cant wait till I have another opportunity to eat more cake & support such a great business and wonderful person.

What can I say that has not already been said:  Gaby is brilliantly creative.  I am convinced she can turn ANYTHING into a cake.  I opted for an Art Nouveau themed wedding cake, with blue metallic flourishes and flower accents which she fully delivered on.  The wedding cake was stunning, tasted great, and her prices were WAY better than anyone  else I spoke to.  She was truly a pleasure to work with at every step along the way.

I love cake and visual design is my expertise so finding Gabby was a gem! Gabby did a beautiful cake for us. It looks and tastes spectacular!

Gabby was also very patience and open to design ideas I had about the cake. On the special day she placed fresh flowers on the cake which is a bonus service that  you will not get if you went  with the other bakery.

Overall, I am pleased to have chosen Gabby after tasting and looking at four other vendors.  Order your cake from Cake Coquette because it will be as memorable and tasteful as the event you want to celebrate for!  Gabby is one of the most talented and friendly cake designer I have ever met.

If you're planning a special occasion, book Cake Coquette as fast as you can for a spectacular and delicious dessert. And I can't stress the delicious part too much. Gabrielle isn't just a brilliant artist, she's a master baker as well. I know this because I was lucky enough to attend an event where she provided the dessert.  It was awesome. And no "attitude" from the chef, either. You'll never meet a nicer person. She's wonderful to work with and the results are spectacular.

Gabby did a FANTASTIC job on our San Francisco themed wedding cake. it was more amazing and unique then we could ever had imagined! We hated to cut it because it was so beautiful.  Everyone was raving about the cake, and it was so tasty. The bridge, buildings, and Giants logo was perfect. We let her work out the artistic details with little directions and it was great. Gabby was very responsive to emails and was very easy to work with. My husband still talks about our tasting which was one of his favorite wedding activities :)

When Gabby walked in with the birthday cake she created for the 30th b'day soiree that I was sharing with one of my bestest friends, I was overwhelmed at how perfect this cake was.  She somehow was able to take the little bit of direction that we gave her (our favorite cake is yellow cake with chocolate frosting) to make us a cake that was better than anything we could have imagined.  This cake looked amazing - 3 layers, white frosting, perfectly round polka dots, and my favorite part, a giant gold 3-0 on top.  I was like a little girl with a new bike, I had to show this cake off to everyone that walked in.  Sadly, we eventually had to cut into this masterpiece, but we discovered that not only did it look fantastic, it was also yummy - yellow cake with chocolate filling, and buttercream frosting...delish!  I have received so many comments on our cute/beautiful/fun/tasty cake that I know we absolutely made the right choice in having Gabby create a cake for our entry into club 3-0.

Cake Coquette is, quite simply, divine.  The first time I experienced one of Gabrielle's cakes was for an event at the Symphony.  The three-layer creation was nothing short of a masterpiece.  It blended in with the décor so well that each attendee had to glance at it twice before indulging.  It's difficult to say which was more of a hit: the appearance of the dessert or the delight of each bite.  Gabrielle's designs have continued to impress me and everyone with whom she comes into contact.  She is intuitive in conceptualizing what her client wants and a perfectionist in making that vision into a reality.  I highly recommend her for any occasion.

I was planning a birthday party and so I called Gabby, the extraordinary cake designer and owner of Cake Coquette, and asked: Could you design a cake with a bamboo or zen-like feel? Wait, no could you do a cake with champagne flutes, and stars? Hold on, I think maybe something with a lot of confetti or flowers? Decisions, decisions... I had no clue. Imagine my questions when it came to deciding cake flavors. Gabby was a rockstar! Not only did she suggest and create a gorgeous cake design - bamboo garden with ornate delicate flowers - but also she made the most delicious cake flavor - kahula mocha chip. My party guests were amazed when they saw (and tasted) the cake. The conversation usually went something like this:
Party guest: "Wow, where did you buy the cake?"
Gabby: "Actually, I made it."
Party guest: "What, you made this, it's incredible. Really, you made this...it's beautiful. Lauren, did you know she made this?"
Me: "Yes, I know, that's why I called her."

So definitely call her, when you're planning your next event and want that extra special touch! And Gabby - Thank You!

Gabrielle took on a cake design (six triangles with rounded corners in a hexagonal array, covered in fondant to look like game pieces from our game, Trism) that many other cake designers had felt would be too challenging or incredibly expensive...and delivered it perfectly, on time and at a reasonable price.  Great job, would definitely come again for any special cake needs.
