Checked this place out on Sunday.
Overall, I would give this place another try, but wouldn't necessarily go out of my way to go again. There was only one employee working. Therefore, I felt bad because she was definitely swamped and out of many ingredients for menu items. However, of course that is not her fault!
Coffee was good. Printer is available to print and do work! Also, the patio is open if you want to sit outside in the snow.
Parking: there is limited free street parking available.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Oct 18, 2022
Super cute, kinda cozy neighborhood spot! The barista was nice and helpful. There's 2hr street parking around the are; I ended up parking about a block down.
The lavender cardamom latte with oat milk was perfection! I'm excited to try other menu specialities - some fall favs and other drinks new to me.
The bathroom is in the basement so it's not the most accessible fyi.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - 39187538Mar 12, 2023
Cute and cozy coffee shop- a much better alternative to that large chain one block over. They have the normal array of coffee drinks plus a few specialties. the Barista was very helpful in selecting a drink. The Cafe Miel was excellent as was the loose tea selection. Ample seating and no feeling that we needed to rush out. Lovely spot for coffee with a friend.

#10 in my TWIN CITIES COFFEE SHOP SERIES
I originally had to come here a couple of times to get my full review of this place. And after the three times, I would give it a solid 4/5! They have delicious drinks, small quaint vibes, and the cutest tables.
They don't have the biggest pastry selection, but they do have a wide drink selection! I've gotten the lavender oat milk latte ($5), chai latte ($5), and their speciality banana bean ($7). Their drinks are pretty tasty but nothing spectacular. If I had to get a drink again, I would definitely get the chai!
Their decor is super cute and artsy (especially their tables). They have a pretty small space with minimal window lighting, but still a good place to get some work done or meet with a friend.
Fun fact: they were the 2020 neighbor favorite on trip advisor!Helpful 11Thanks 0Love this 10Oh no 0 - 19540767Oct 31, 2022
Charming cafe with eclectic decor. I tried a latte with their homemade lavender cardamom syrup. I was intrigued by this flavor, but didn't love the lavender component. It was slightly bitter. They have all of your standard coffee shop drinks and a few other specialty flavors. Nice place to work or read.

Cahoot is definitely a cozy small hole in the wall coffee shop! There isn't a lot of tables and things arent super fancy inside but it's definitely unique and honestly that's one thing I like about it. I notice that every chair inside is almost different (old but cozy used office chairs lol) and there is a small patio in the back that is nice in the spring/summer.
I had a iced Carmel latte with soy milk which was super delicious and a giant monster cookie.
It could get a big busy/full because it is small and not too far from a couple universities/schools in the area. But the noise level was fine- I came here a couple times for work meetings.
Pretty much street parking only!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Nathan B.Minneapolis, MN2411786Jul 19, 2022
Wouldn't be my go-to choice for coffee in the area, but a good option. Not a lot of seating inside but would be a productive option if you're looking for a quieter place to get some work done.

Atmosphere, great coffee, good food, flair, charm and bad parking. A perfect hangout (once you've parked.) Oh, and it closes too early.

I'm only in St. Paul for a short time and was looking for a quiet spot to enjoy some coffee and a small meal. The place is so small I almost biked right by! Inside, it's a cozy and humble space with dim lighting and lots of antique-looking art, most of which appears to be for sale! There are a good amount of tables with cushioned chairs and an outlet strip along one wall.
I enjoyed the beautiful red latte, a pumpkin pecan muffin, and an asparagus and leek quiche. The quiche tasted homemade but the crust wasn't the crispiest (making me think maybe it wasn't freshly prepared this morning), however, I thought it was delicious and really enjoyed it. The muffin was fantastic with lots of sugary goodness on top. The red latte was new to me, and I loved it! A subtle hint of the red tea with a slight sweetness and some cinnamon. Yum.
If you're looking for a sparkling clean, fancy new spot to drink some coffee--this isn't your place. But if you want some peace and quiet, a cozy atmosphere, and some great coffee and tea: hit up Cahoots!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Olivia H.Minneapolis, MN41163175Mar 2, 2017Updated review
I'm loving the Mediterranean theme and comfy atmosphere - mismatched tables with padded swivel chairs, tapestries on the walls, front window with various lovely little accents, pleasant patio out back, general intimate feel. The menu is also unique, with lots of Med-inspired offerings.
What I've tried:
- Turkish coffee: I'd say this is the main event at Cahoots. It's made to order and takes about 15 minutes, but that right there is a solid cuppa high octane! Turkish coffee is strong, rich, and lightly seasoned with spices and sugar (but you can ask for less or no sugar if you so desire - it's good both ways!). It's brewed from very fine grounds which are left in to settle at the bottom, so be careful when you reach the bottom of the cup! Cahoots makes an authentic brew, and the presentation is fun.
- Moroccan: Brewed coffee with a special mixture of spices. Simple but delicious, and an interesting twist on your usual plain java.
- Hummus plate: Your choice of white or wheat pita wedges, hummus topped with olive oil and paprika, and green olives. Made for a good snack, but it's not all that enchanting - pretty much just grocery store pita warmed up in a microwave, and grocery store hummus.
- Red cappuccino: Rooibos tea concentrated in an espresso maker and combined with steamed milk and foam. I was a bit skeptical of this one, but it was warm and cozy and perfectly seasoned.
- Mexican mocha: A mocha seasoned with cayenne pepper and cinnamon. I am a huge fan of the chocolate-and-cayenne combo, so I had to give it a try. Theirs has a nice kick and can be customized. Two thumbs up.
The main reason I'm updating to five stars is because of the great service. The barista was friendly; he chatted with me and the other customers about our favorite music and coffee drinks. He even said that if there's a drink at another shop I like, I can tell him what it is and he'll recreate it. I am ALL about custom drinks and flexible, knowledgeable baristas. On top of that, when he made my Mexican mocha with extra cayenne and it turned out to be a little too much, he was happy to make a new one sans rude comments or dirty looks.
The only downsides to this place are that the interior is borderline grody (that kind of goes hand in hand with a lot of these intimate, hipstery places, and I'm a clean freak) and there's no private lot, which makes parking a pain. I park in the Whole Foods ramp across the street. Shh.
Next on the list to try: "Mediterranean platter," PSL (don't judge me), spicy ginger chai, and lavender lemonade (seasonal).Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0Feb 22, 2017Previous reviewI'm going with 4.5 stars for this little gem off Snelling and Selby. I'm loving the Mediterranean theme and cozy atmosphere - there are lots of little tables with comfy padded chairs and lamps to read by, tapestries on the walls, a front window with various lovely little accents in it, and a pleasant patio out back.
I appreciate their unique menu with lots of Med-inspired offerings. After making the poor barista explain multiple menu items to me as I contemplated (I'm indecisive and I like almost everything!) I started with the Moroccan - coffee with a mixture of spices. Simple but delicious, and not something every coffee shop offers.
After working for a while, I ordered a hummus plate (which is just your choice of white or wheat pita wedges, hummus, and green olives) and a red cappuccino (rooibos tea concentrated in an espresso machine and combined with steamed milk and foam). The hummus plate left something to be desired - it was pretty much grocery store pita and hummus - but still made a good snack and was a pretty good value. I was a bit skeptical of the red cappuccino, but it was delicious and perfectly seasoned. Next time, I'd like to try their "Mediterranean platter," PSL (don't judge me), chai, and what has traditionally been my favorite, Turkish coffee. Mmmm-mm.
My total bill came to about $10. I started a tab rather than paying for each item separately, because it's just easier and also they charge a $0.25 processing fee for card payments under $3.
Lastly, ten points for having a sketchy basement that smells just like my grandma's basement (the cute closet-sized bathroom is down there). And there's no private lot, which makes parking a pain. I parked in the Whole Foods ramp across the street. Shh.
