Go to café zorro! The food it AMAZING and the service is top notch. I had the best meal I've had since moving up from the bay area, if not one of the best meals of my life at this place. I would give more stars if possible!

Café Zorro, man what do I say about this place. You know how you'll have that local spot that you hit up from time to time that you just love; the one that you want to do well so that they'll stay in business, but that you're reluctant to tell anyone about because you want it to remain your little secret spot? Well Café Zorro is that place for me. I love coming here, they have consistently good food, the wait staff is always super friendly and they have plenty personality along with great attitude. The owner is frequently there and you always feel like someone is taking care of you, in fact you get this homey feel almost like if the place was owned by your brother or something.
I wish I could give them a 5, but unfortunately since they also do a lot of catering, the menu is frequently missing items from it, which has on several separate occasions led me to pick something else. And while my dinner was always excellent, it is a bit of a bummer when you're after something in particular. But in the end, whatever you order, it will be cooked to perfection, you will be waited on by a friendly and personable staff that is always prompt with their response to whatever your need, and you'll feel like you're right at home.
Even without a perfect scoring, I cannot recommend Café Zorro enough. Now keep quiet about it, this is like a super secret bike trail that should only be discovered on your own. -

I love hole in the wall restaurants! This place is amazing. The pizza has a thin crisp crust with homemade sauce and the freshest toppings. You can definitely taste the quality of the ingredients! I also had the Loomis IPA. I will be back.

Homey to the max! All the regulars know each other, greet one another like family.
Simple room, not fancy. Bare concrete floor. Wooden furniture. Butcher paper table coverings.
Italo-American menu. Small, focused list of plates. 2 specials per night that are a little more fancy than the regular menu.
Same for wine list. Small focused, good values on good labels. 3 tap beers. Full liquor license, but nobody is ordering cocktails. This is a family place.
My dinner? Good Cesar salad. Clean dressing. Pizza with thin crunchy crust. Loaded with delicious fresh vegetables and yummy pork sausage.
Do not be in a hurry when you come here. Service is r-e-l-a-x-e-d. Dinner will wind over 90 minutes or so. Relax you're gonn'a enjoy.
Food is good. Owners / service folk are all friendly, smiling, and helpful.
Simple dinner for 2: $60 if you drink wine. -

My girlfriend and I went here and ordered a salad, pizza, and a dessert. The food was delicious. Our pizza was loaded with some of the freshest toppings I've ever tasted on a pizza. It could have used a little more sauce, but overall the pizza was very good.
Our server, Jen, was very personable and attentive.
I can't give this place 5 stars because it's really lacking in ambience. The venue looks like a dressed up taqueria, not a place where I'd spend $20-$25 for an entree. -

We were invited to Cafe Zorro to celebrate a friend's birthday.
Being a Vegetarian AND having a SEVERE allergy to SOY I was *Thrilled* to discover that they do NOT use Soy in any of their foods.
The food was delicious.
The service was very good.
Will I eat there again? YOU BET. -
Review from Tammy S.
I accidentally had dinner here on a Friday night and was really happy about that! We started with a garlic bread appetizer, which was very tasty. I then got their lasagna with marinara sauce and my friend got spaghetti and sausage. My lasagna was very tasty. They also had a pretty good selection of beer. The service was super friendly and fast. If I had one complaint, it would be about the size of the portions. The garlic bread appetizer was two small pieces of bread and after I devoured my lasagna, I was still really hungry. The dimensions looked good - about 4" x 5-6", but it was barely an inch thick... kinda puny. Next time I would likely try their pizza. I would def come back and would recommend to friends. For the appetizer, three beers and the entrees, the bill was about $43 - pretty fair.

Wow...who would have ever thought you could find a little gem like this in the central valley town of Loomis. Well, Cafe Zorro is certainly it.The service staff (thanks Jen for making us feel like regulars) is wonderful and even though the menu is smallish, the choices are wonderfully prepared. Started with the Arugula Pizzetta...fabulous! Then we moved to the portabello mushroom ravioli and the stuffed pork loin. Coupled with a glass of their Pinot of the week, it was a match made in heaven. Don't let the smaller menu put you off...all the dishes we had were made to perfection. We will certainly be back.
Thanks to Z! -

Love this place, no question. No matter if I feel like pizza, pasta, fish or meat, I always find the right thing on the menu or the specials. They use local products and have a great selection on beers from all over the world.

Loomis, CA
The location is a hole in the wall corner in Loomis but the food and service is beyond excellent. Both the owner and chef made appearances, making us feel like friends before we left. My family and I all had different dishes, appetizers and dessert and everything was delicious. We'll be regulars from now on. As it turns out, that hole in the wall location was perfect, adding to the overall feel and experience.

Yes , local products to the max, local Costco and local Raley's for their fresh homemade dessert...yum-o...:(...for a place that seemingly had high potential, it has turned into more or less of a disappointment.. As far as the ambiance goes, very sterile, unless it's filled with the colorful and friendly locals, otherwise an airport lounge possibly has more charm.

Went for first time tonight. My family enjoyed the combo pizza very much. Thin, maybe a bit thicker than NY style, very nicely proportioned. Great flavor of the sausage and sauce.
Staff was also very friendly.
This may become one of our regular places. -

0 stars. My wife had raviolis and I had chicken something. Her raviolis had some liquid in them we could not identify and my chicken was tasteless and boring.
Canned food is better and most prev. frozen food is way better.
I find it hard to believe that this place is still open. -

I've eaten there three times and just hung out a the bar a couple more times than that and have really enjoyed this hidden gem every time.
The pizza is fantastic, as are the other dishes I've had. Most recently I had a snapper that was drizzled with streaks of really nice pesto, yum!
The bar gets a crowd of regulars and is quite friendly too. The vibe is easygoing and makes you feel at home. It has a nice selection of beers on tap, and even more on bottle. There is also a decent wine list.
I'd recommend it to anyone looking for good, casual dining in the area. -

I experienced Cafe Zorro for the first time last night and was absolutely delighted by this unpretentious, high quality establishment. Our server was lovely and knowledgable, and everything she brought to me resulted in multiple mouthgasms. I even ate dessert, which I rarely do, because I knew it HAD to be good; everything else was. My date's BBQ chicken pizza was not extraordinary, but everything else was. In my price range AND of great taste. I love this place. Tastiest $8 glass of wine ever too. I didn't want to leave.

I love Italian food, and their's is excellent. I like that I can run in with my kids in my sweats or dress up and go out with my husband and friends. The prices are great for the high quality food. Very accommodating to vegetarians and special diets. I just went with friends on a Wednesday night which is free corkage night. Since we brought our own wine, the bill was so reasonable, and we had appetizers, meals, and dessert. They also had live music, adding to the fun. Seem to always be out of my favorite Vodka, Kettle One, but no matter because they continue to make me the most delicious dirty martinis with Blue Ice. That may become my new favorite vodka. This is my favorite inexpensive place to eat that's close to home. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars, is sometimes it's not the place to go if you are in a hurry. Then again, meals should be enjoyed at leisure.

Zorro is the man. If you are familiar with the soup nazi from seinfeld, Zorro is a kind version of him. He will drink with you one moment, and the next yell at you for asking for more bread. Great Canneloni and Pizza, everything is prepared individually except Pizza. It is in the middle of nowhere, but I am yet to find a better Canneloni in the Sac Area.

Was worried when we arrived at this place - Loomis is not exactly a booming metropolis, and the fare you pass coming from I80, has cheap beer as the main ingredient.
The location is at the end of a down-on-its-luck strip mall which also doesn't engender much confidence in the fare.
However, once inside - the restaurant is clean and modern - with an odd assortment of art-for-sale on the wall. [Our night's selection was mainly Chinese art, perhaps the only way for the owner of the empty Chinese rest next door to feed his family.]
Zorro was FULL on a Wed night - mainly locals. One table was a party (more than 14), all of whom looked like they'd experienced more than one meal out in their time. [Gray hair.]
The pizza was really good - thin crispy crust, tangy sauce and the toppings were good (we had cheese, but other tables had more creative pizzas - and seemed to enjoy them).
The veggie soup was also great.
Our initial motivation was to escape an endless traffic jam on I80, but when we pass through Loomis again - I wouldn't mind stopping in. -

Penryn, CA
A gem of a restaurant! Wonderful pizza, and great Italian food made with local produce. Always a comfortable place to have dinner, or just drop in at the bar for a beer.
Tip for people returning from Tahoe in heavy traffic -- take the Newcastle/Highway 193 exit (I think it is Exit 116) and drive Taylor Rd (old Highway 40) through Newcastle, Penryn and Loomis to King Rd. (1st stoplight in Loomis) and turn right on King to Zorro's. A nice break from traffic, and then easy access back to I-80 at Loomis, or Sierra College Blvd.
Oh, one more thing... try the ice cream for dessert. It's homemade too! -

Consistently good food in a relaxed cozy setting. I'd feel comfortable bringing anyone to this restaurant. I haven't tried the wine bar, but it looks very popular, and the place seems to be a local hangout. I love that the background music appears to be provided by the manager's IPod.

A friend recommended Zorros for a stop for dinner on our way to Tahoe. We tried Zorros and loved it. My husband had the wedge salad and pizza and gave it raves. I had the canneloni and felt it was one of the best I have ever had. The wines are delicious. Matt (owner) really knows what he is doing in the kitchen and the menu was very creative not the usual fare. Matt also is very savy when it comes to wine selection having been in the wine business for years.
Finding Zorros is a bit tricky if you don't know Loomis. Off Highway 80 you must take the Loomis off ramp and go into town. At the main street, turn right and go to the next light and turn left. Zorros is in a little mall on the right. Tricky but well worth the stop on the way up the mountain -

The food rivals some of the best places and SF and I can actually have a meal there with my kids! The owner (Matt) and staff have achieved the perfect balance of fine dining with a casual atmosphere. Nice wine & Belgian beer selection as well.

Roseville, CA
This place may not be for everyone. If you like Macaroni Grill or Olive Garden, you will NOT like this place. Small, located in the back corner of a funky little sort of pre-strip mall shopping center next to what does not look like a very promising Chinese restaurant, bare concrete floors, basic decor (tasteful art), no table cloths. TV in the corner over the bar with a football game on, Jazz from the owners Ipod going but not too loud. The place was packed, one big table of about 15 people and another large party in the back. Menu is one page with about maybe a dozen entrees. Two things make this place one of my new favorites. 1) The atmosphere. It felt like having dinner at a good old friend's place. The owner (Matt) was waiting tables, cooking and mixing Martinis while chatting with the customers, half of whom he seemed to know by name, but he treated us newbies just like we ate there every night. To me, this is what a restaurant is supposed to feel like. No one was going to come out and sing happy birthday. But when we asked for desert menu, he tapped his head and said it is in here, and the offerings included, "A big ass piece of Chocolate Cake". Oh yeah and 2) the food. I am NOT an expert on Italian food, but the Cannelloni was fantastic (home made sausage!) and my son had the Filet wrapped in bacon, I did not get much conversation out of him for about 15 minutes. We took home an order of pasta for my wife, she was going to save it for lunch today but I don't think it made it. You can tell Matt is a foodie. Just cooking really good food for customers who he thinks of as friends. Not cheap, but worth every penny. We will definitely be back!

Cafe Zorro is a classy restaurant without the pretentiousness of a classy restaurant. The decor is inviting, and the ambience is great. Their wine list is diverse, and they have an excellent craft/import beer selection (a rarity these days.) My wife and I have been here twice, and each time the service was excellent. Their appetizer menu has several items, but I recommend the Chef's Crostini and Artisan cheese plate. Their pork tenderloin has this amazing blue cheese sauce (homemade, not that Sysco stuff), and their recent Tilapia special was delicious. On our previous visit, I had the Veal picatta and raved about it all the way home (my wife eventually had to tell me to shut it!) Matt (the owner) always talks to us like we're family; he's very knowledgeable and friendly. The only downside of Cafe Zorro is it's location, but the quality of food and service, as well as the prices, make it worth the drive.
