This was one of my favorite spots on UC Berkeley campus. I love their turkey panini with lots of avocado! And they open quite early everyday, so every time when I had class at 8, I always ran into Cafe Zeb and grabbed a cup of coffee before class. The staff there are very friendly and you always can see lots of students hanging out, at outside patio tables. Definitely a good place for lunch.
3.5 stars - Good place for lunch & coffee. Their menu is similar to FSM - panini, sandwaiches, salads, soup, quesadillas, etc, but I would give it .5 stars more for better service and preparation. The people here know how to make the food better and are super nice. I ran here for a quick bite and was 25 cents short. I was so embarrassed! The guy at the counter said it was okay and to just pay him back later. Here's a few things I've gotten since I've discovered this little gem:
1) For breakfast/snack, I buy their homemade organic granola, which comes with milk and a banana all for about $3.25!
2) Lunch: On cold winter days, I love to get their soup, which comes with bread. The bread is nothing special, but the soup is great, especially their tomato bisque or squash soup. Yum! I'm not too much a fan of their Italian wedding or lime chicken soup.
During the summer, I've gotten either their caesar or cobb salad. The cobb comes with a good amount of avocados and a generous amount of blue cheese. For those who aren't partial to blue cheese, you can ask them to use feta instead. The caesar is SO much better than Jimmy Fifo at Haas.
The sandwiches & panini come with a side of salad. They are made on the spot and are quit filling.
I know a few people who have called in with huge orders for their office. Cafe Zeb was very professional and was able to accommodate them on a really short notice.
