Review from Emily E.
Laguna Beach, CA
I pass this place all the time and finally we got to try it out. We went there for breakfast. My husband got the omelet and I got the croissant with strawberry jam. The jam looked homemade, a little runny, but tasty. The cappuccinos were great. The setting was nice outside and they had heat lamps, so it wasn't too cold. Only cons were tricky parking with the small parking lot and/or street parking (get there early). Also, the 2 employees there were working hard to take our orders, bus tables, make the coffee orders, so don't be in a rush when you go there!
I just saw from other yelp reviews that they serve dinner, so something to look forward to. -

Laguna Hills, CA
We decided to give Cafe Vienna a try for lunch since we have driven past it many times and it looked like an attractive place. The food is actually pretty good here. We had a delicious mixed salad with feta cheese and olives. The salad was fresh, had a good mix of different colored leaves and the balsamic vinegar was just right. Our black forest ham sand was good too. However they lose one star because the service was pretty bad (a frown and no smile). Also, the tables and furniture and selection of pastries were a bit below our expectation for a place named Cafe Vienna.
The crowd vibe here was real O.C. Lot's of blonde ladies, Porchses, Mercedes and a vintage sports car parked in their lot. We felt a bit weird driving up with our beat up, faded old Corolla heap. -

I was visiting a friend who lives in Laguna one weekend and he suggested we go to Cafe Vienna for brunch since we were taking his yellow lab pup Jackie along with us. The restaurant is located on PCH just south of West Street. They have a nice out door area for al fresco dining and they also allow dogs. You place your order at the counter, pay there, and then they give you a number to take to your table.
We both decided on the chicken burrito, which comes with a choice of salad (House, Greek, or Cesar). We both decided on the House salad. The house salad consists of mixed greens, sliced mushrooms, cucumbers and cherry tomatoes with a balsamic vinaigrette. I loved the salad. They give you a substantial amount too. The chicken burrito was great as well. It's a flour tortilla with sliced chicken breast, beans, home fries with pieces of bacon and sliced avocado. The burrito is served with fresh salsa and sour cream. The passion fruit iced tea was also great.
If you're looking for a great casual dining experience with great fresh food for breakfast or lunch while in Laguna, check out Cafe Vienna. -

Want a great breakfast before hanging out in Laguna, this is it! Friendly staff, good food and the beach calling your name, what more could you want?!

Review from Diane C.
Since I moved to the area few weeks ago, I've driven by few times and it's always full. That's always a good sign so I decided to bring mom here for brunch.
To start with, the coffee was great. My chicken burrito was huge and delicious. It came with choice of salad options (Greek, Cesar, home) with salsa and creme fresh. This is a plate two can eat. Half my burrito ended up as my breakfast the next day.
My mom ordered the German sausage with eggs plate. It came with roasted potatoes, fresh bread, butter, mustard, catchup, jam and fresh fruit. She loved her food so much that she finished her plate (she never does that).
They are dog friendly here and most patrons had a dog with them. Daisy, the girl that runs this place even gave my pup a treat. I love that!
They have seating inside and out. The outside portion has 2 seating options (parking area and covered by the entry).
I look forward to coming here on regular basis. -
Review from Kari S.
I don't know where to begin, except to say in contrary to another review on here I found the owners to be delightful! The food we ate was amazing (more on that in a minute). The restaurant has a nice feel to it, it isn't fancy but there is an elegance to it despite being small and right on the busy coast highway. Agreed that the bathroom situation is a little smelly so don't sit too close. I think it's a beach town bathroom thing.
The meal we had here ranks way way high on my list of yummy things I have tasted. We heard from other patrons that Cafe Vienna is a great breakfast stop. I feel lucky to have been able to enjoy dinner here as their summer dinner season is short. Everything we ordered was simply wonderful. We had the veal wiener schnitzel, beef stroganoff, Atlantic salmon, and also a seafood pasta dish. All the dishes were truly extraordinary. Each perfectly prepared with accommodating sides. The braised red cabbage and perfectly cooked spaetzle that came with my stroganoff dish were absolutely DIVINE. A couple of desserts and espresso after dinner completed a very memorable meal. Highly recommend the apple strudel as well as the simple berries with cream.
I can not wait to return to this cafe! I know I'm going to be craving beef stroganoff, spaetzle and cabbage until I do. I can't wait to try Cafe Vienna for breakfast as well. This is a little Laguna Beach gem for sure.Listed in: Want

Great location.
They have a wide variety of seating both inside and out. Vast menu that looked so yummy.
The iced beverages were right what I was craving. An iced green lemon tea and a passion fruit iced tea as well. -

Stopped in for a couple delish iced teas. Passion fruit and green.
Outdoor seating. Pups under the tables. I think there was even a small parking lot (we parked on the street).
Can't wait to come back when we aren't hot and sweaty so we can get coffee and maybe a bite! -

Laguna Beach, CA
Our neighborhood cafe is such a delight. I love walking my dog to this spot. I always order a coffee or latte. But what recently we've been ordering breakfast, which has been really good!! My husband enjoyed their spicy and hot omelet and everything bagel. I order the veggie scramble and loved the red peppers.
The crowd is always an interesting bunch of characters...let me put it this way, there is a plastic surgeon next door and a gay beach nearby ;) -

Casual dining with great atmosphere. They love dogs!!! Yummy food but a bit expensive. But worth the money.
We has the smoked salmon plate and my daughter ate this everyday we were here. I tried the spicy omlette which was delicious!!!
Coffee is also delicious! We totally loved this place!! Definitely a must if in this area!!!! -

Laguna Beach, CA
Great little breakfast place with outdoor seating. It's always packed (a good sign that they are doing something right!). My recommendation- get the Healthy Harvest Muffin, and ask for it warmed up. If there is no room to sit- walk to the beach with a latte. yummy

I'm a "So Lag" local (south Laguna Beach) & unless I'm craving Mexican food, this is one of best spots in So Lag. Breakfast & lunch meals have never been a disappointment with the use of fine ingredients (healthy, tasty & low-fat)! A must try is the sauteed baby tomatoes (request them). The atmosphere is casual & the service very good! Beer and wine also available. Cheers!

This restaurant is a total joy! First of all, contrary to the assessment of some of the reviewers, the people who work behind the counter are about as dear and kind as can be. The food is wonderful. And, most fun of all, the other diners are so friendly. I think it's the example set by the staff. It's like a sweet European neighborhood cafe.
The other wonderful thing about this place is that they are so welcoming of dogs. Most of the time, people are sitting outside with their dog lying by their table. By now I have been to every breakfast spot on the coast within four or five miles of Cafe Vienna and nothing even comes close - either in the kindness of the staff or the quality of the food. Cafe Vienna gives a lovely respite to the tourist-trap atmosphere of Laguna Beach. -

Don't.
Acai cereal mixture was sludge. Coffee is mediocre. Lots of seating and free newspapers though. -

I had lunch here today and it's quite an interesting location. It's right next to a plastic surgery office and the beach is right across the street. There's outdoor seating and as other people suggested, you can bring your dog and chill outside with a nice cup of coffee and a sandwich. Another tidbit: my friend couldn't help but notice all the cougars here o_O
Anyway, let's review the food now. I ordered the Albacore Tuna sandwich and my friend got the Pastrami sandwich with roasted potatoes. I liked the tuna sandwich more as it tasted more balanced. The pastrami sandwich was good, but the mustard was a bit overpowering and it just didn't really feel like a $10 sandwich... -

A perfect little spot tucked away along the Laguna Coast...
Ideal when you're in the mood for Breakfast that never disappoints (unless you are forced to sit near the restrooms in which case I recommend practicing patience and waiting for a table far FAR away from the restroom) - needless to say, Cafe Vienna is a tasty stop. I have been a few times before, but this Sunday afternoon, I strolled in with a hunger for something tasty and the need for some comfort food. At first glance, it seems like an average Cafe' but don't be fooled by the encased desserts, relaxed feel of the staff, or the colorful decor. It is worth it, I promise. So there I am standing before the cashier and I order - and cancel it after browsing the menu and finding something else that sounds even better - and then pause and eventually, upon seeing the "Specials" finally make a decision. Yes, it's THAT kind of Sunday. The day's special was far too enticing to pass up: Egg white Masala Omelet with fresh green chile, hints of curry, tumeric, a little cumin, served with home fried potatoes, and a yogurt apple sauce. My friend orders the Hot N' Spicy Omelet and we also order a cappuccino, freshly squeezed OJ, and some fruit with kiwi, banana, and orange.
After moving twice to escape the smell of the restroom, we situate ourselves at the newly vacant aluminum table outside. We have to bus it ourselves, but hey, it's not so bad. Sat beside us is a man traveling from Arizona with his black lab, and grandparents taking their grandson away from the woes of his recent speeding ticket. See? So much can happen here! As we take in the unusual ambiance, our food arrives. It is beautiful! And in plenty. I waste no time digging in to my "extra" spicy Indian-inspired omelet. It is divine! Perfectly doused with curry and spice, freshly chopped green chillies, coupled with the subtle apple-yogurt dip - my taste buds are exploding. Definitely worth the initial indecision. After inhaling the spicy goodness, I pause, breathe, and diffuse my tongue with the potatoes. Mmm. Perfectly crispy and abundant in flavor. I drink a sip of my water, toggle between my OJ and capuccino, and I dig in for more. I sneak a bite of my friend's omelet and his is just as good.
Cafe Vienna is one of those rare places that you go to and the food is delicious, the ambiance (less the bathroom) is calming, people actually talk to one another, and you feel happily full upon leaving. It isn't fancy and it doesn't boast any sense of beachy-entitlement. Cafe Vienna simply is ... well, a great place to stop on the Laguna Coast for a good coffee, a filling breakfast, or a fantastic lunch. The bonus, just a few steps away is the Pacific Ocean and some great little shops.

I definitely love this place. Cafe Vienna is relaxed but chic and always delivers a tasty meal. Their lattes are served in large, deep cups that just make you want to sit, relax and savor the day. I enjoy coming here with my boyfriend, best friends, and even parents. Definitely come give this place a try!

I usually feel bad when I write a not-so nice review of a place, but I need to say that this restaurant needs help in the service department.
The food is always really good, but it is overshadowed by the service you get when your order.
These are the same people that sold Heidelberg Cafe and now concentrate on Cafe Vienna. The problem is the attitude of the owner when she's behind the counter. Very curt, and not friendly. I'm basing this on the five times I've been here, not just on today's visit.
And it's not just the owners; one of the other workers was very snappish to me as well. Maybe it rubs off from management. It's a shame because as I mentioned, the food is really good.
I'll take Heidelberg over Vienna anyday, new management and all.Listed in: The Places I Go Out

The best Americano available...Illy Espresso used. Love it. Also, get the Healthy Harvest Muffin....warmed up.
If you like Lox...get the Eggs Heidelburg. Quite simply one of the best meals I have ever consumed. -

Being not from the area, we found this small cafe by accident and were actually very impressed by their food. We had the Eggs Heidelberg and a soup which were both very delicious. As we were really hungry and the food was so good, we decided to go for a second run and order a California omelette which did not disappoint us either. The people working there were really friendly and we can highly recommend this place for breakfast, especially if you are looking for late breakfast. As a breakfast lover, I have to say it was definitely one of the best breakfast places I have been to lately.

SOOOO GOOD! This place is my favorite breakfast/brunch eatery in South Laguna. They have an authentic French menu and they use really fresh; simple ingredients. The energy is very pleasant and inviting, sided with a good-natured local vibe. I recommend the Veggie Scramble Croissant and the Chocolate Filled Croissant.

The couple times we've been here to eat and/or enjoy a warm cup of coffee, our experience here has been enjoyable. I love the fact that you can just bring your dog here, order something to drink and lounge outside enjoying the nice ocean breeze. I love how the staff doesn't mind that your dog sits next to you.
The menu is pretty simple to follow, and the prices are reasonable for the portion sizes. I ordered the scramble eggs, with country-style potatos and toast which were all delicious. The coffee here is delicious. The service was pretty good, and nothing that was out of the ordinary. The only knock I would say is that they need a lock on the women's bathroom door. My wife said that another patron walked in on her. Anyway, if you have some free time to relax, Cafe Vienna is a great spot for you. -

I have such fond memories of heading to Cafe Vienna after a leisurely visit to Tablerock Beach in the lazy summer mornings.
The spinach omelette with egg whites was a healthy and tasty option, perfectly paired with slabs of multigrain bread and tart lingonberry jam. Throw in a large Cafe Vienna latte with chocolate chips and whip cream and it made for a great start to my day. -

Cafe Vienna is tucked away and difficult to spot off the road on PCH, and that is a good thing for those who are lucky enough to discover it. I had the Cafe Breve (a latte with half & half) and it was fantastic.
I wish they were open longer hours. Good service.
The absence of hipsters also added to the ambiance of the cafe (as opposed hipster heaven at Kean).
My visit to Cafe Vienna gave me the feeling of being on a mini-vacation. It was sweet! -

My husband and I have been staying with some friends in Laguna Beach for the last few days and have been hitting this place for coffee in the morning. The staff is awesome and the coffee is delicious! I got an apple turnover and a White Mocha Royal this morning. I can't wait to visit again and try the Rio Bowl with Acai berries!

My 2 friends and I went to this place on Sunday after downtown Laguna Beach was out of power due to an exploding transformer. So we ended up going sounth on PCH and stopped by this spot to get some B fast. I got the Sausage omelette it was ok and was more like a mini upside down frittata. The food was ok and this place was about acerage. I'd go back but this wouldn't be my first breakfast choice.

LB is my new favorite beach town. We visited maybe 16+ beaches and this was our fave. We came across this cafe and might I say the service has bad attitude but the food is so worth it!From the outside you may think it's expensive but NOPE, not at all. It's average. I got the corbin bleu croissant(ham and cheese) and my bff got the strawberry danish with a coffee. This food is out of this world, I loveeeeee it! My plate came with little serving of fruit too which is used for decoration but I ate it anyways. The strawberry danish will give you an orgy, it was perfect and the coffee was too. And it only cost us a little bit over 10 bucks.

I'm not just copying my husband. This place deserves 2 stars. He's right, the service is not great - nothing says, come back again. In fact it says We could care less. My bagel scramble was fine. The eggs a little dry. However, our friend ordered a breakfast burrito that looked really good. But I have to agree - Heidelberg any day.

Great place to have breakfast... or lunch... or dinner. Food is excellent, service is excellent, coffee is great too. Watching people try and park in the parking lot also quite an amusing passtime.
Not sure if, reading Coco L's post, whether she might think I'm a cougar... maybe? -
Review from C P.
Laguna Niguel, CA
We're back again to the place, just because we thought, may be they had cleaned it up, after all it is the only place that serves Schnitzel around. This time we all got sick. the smell of the place was still there but this time inside only, outside was cleaner and the tables weren't greasy. However by the restroom, it smelled awful ( not inside). the Floors were still filthy. The food tasted better again but my whole family got sick, my husband and I got stomach aches, and my kids ended up throwing up.
Alright I went in and checked their health inspection, the place had few major violations, after reading the reports and almost got sick reading it.. NEVER NEVER again
I also noticed that the one star previous review was filtered by Yelp ( not sure why!).1 Previous Review: Show all »
