Q:
How is the price like on the menu?
A:
It's a little pricey 15-25 dollars if I recall correctly. The big plus here is that you can get adult drinks, so ya got that going for you.

After my first visit to Trio's Cottonwood location, I'm glad to have experienced the same level of quality and cleanliness like their downtown spot. Service is just as good here and I enjoyed my meal very much. I had the Vanilla Paloma cocktail which wouldn't have been my first choice since I'm not a huge fan of tequila, but my boyfriend picked it and it turned out really good. We shared a small plate of Meatballs & Polenta that was delicious and something I definitely will order again. For my entree, I had the pasta special of Chicken Fettuccine with Kale and Pesto. It was a nice looking dish, but I felt like the kale was a bit overpowering and the dish needed a touch more seasoning. Still a decent entree, but I probably wouldn't get it again. Their menu is identical to the other Trio, but I kind of wish they would change it up a little... Maybe that's just me, but I'm still a fan.

Nice upscale place. A bit pricey but the food is always really good.
I've tried their eggs Benedict before, and some other breakfast options, those were tasty. I've gotten their awesome tomato soup, so good. And this last time I was able to try their polenta, which is usually topped with meatballs but you can get it with mushrooms. Delicious!
And plenty of parking!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Feb 12, 2019
I came here with a work group for our annual holiday party. We had a limited selection to choose from and it was good, but not the greatest food I've ever had. I later saw the prices for what we had options for and it doesn't see worth it. Glad I didn't pay for it.
I did enjoy our waitress, she was awesome! Very polite and quick. We enjoyed ourselves, but I don't think I'd return on my own.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jan 10, 2018
Went here for dinner with a few coworkers. For starters we had the Artisan Meats and cheese platter which tastes good to the last bite. It came with a nice mustard, crostini bread and pickles. This was a good choice. We also had the Roasted Brussels Sprouts which contains chermoula (kind of like a pesto), carrots, pine nut crumble (This looked so good and the table finished them off. Due to certain allergies, pine nuts and I don't agree; so in had to pass up on this, but everyone I asked said that it was on point. All the dishes that came out looked wonderful (the salmon, the burger, the chicken, the pastas as well.
I had the Pomodoro, my pasta was the rigatoni which had organic plum tomatoes, mozzarella, basil butter, extra virgin olive oil. I must say normally I ask for extra parmesan cheese, but this one had the right amount of cheese. The mozzarella was so fresh, and soft and also with that basil butter; made me eat that first before touching my pasta. The pasta had the right amount of sauce as well.
Meal was awesome!!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0Business owner information

Haven't been here in about a year. We really only go to brunch here and it's always good, especially the bloody Mary's. A few things have changed since last year, though. They dropped the breakfast pizza and my favorite (breakfast calzone). They added a new breakfast bowl, though, and it is really tasty. The shredded pork is packed with flavor and the dish comes together nicely! I got the Breakfast Panino and they don't hold back! It was a very solid panini, packed with egg, massive melted cheese, ham and delicious aioli. Breakfast potatoes are also nicely done, nice crisp and perfectly seasoned. On a side note, they also bumped the price of the Bloody Mary's! Bummer... it used to be well known for their $3 Bloody's... they are now $4.00 (oh well, they're still great).

This is as close to a "private club dining room" experience as I've seen outside of a private club. The food is fresh, well-composed and opinionated, and the waitstaff is very professional. The prices may be high for such an ordinary-seeming menu, but they're reasonable for the ingredients, preparation and plating.
Everything I've eaten here has stood out not for being exotic or showy, but for being classy and artisanal. The pasta pomodoro, for example, is totally expectable: pasta, tomato sauce, mozzarella cheese. But the cheese is so fresh it glistens, and the tomato sauce tastes like farmer's-market tomatoes and sunshine. Each dish rewards a simple palate with a sensitivity to nuance. It's the kind of food a professional chef would eat, albeit not the kind they would serve at a Michelin-starred bistro.
I expect to be back regularly.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Russell R.Salt Lake City, UT17516544Sep 8, 2017Updated review
I took a chance and went back and this time things were served to perfection. Food was prompt, hot and delicious. Service also was excellent as our waters were always full and the waitstaff nearby.
Completely different and I'm glad my experience more closely matched my previous experiences.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

Aug 20, 2017Previous reviewTonight was not a good night for Trio. 35 minutes to get the food was on the long side of things but then two out of the three meals were cold upon arrival. My penne was pretty good, hot and expectedly Trio. However the other two meals were Trio meatballs and were not only late but cold. After asking for them to be reheated it took another 25 minutes to see them back at the table by which time I was done eating my penne and my two compatriots were now just being served.
So there were some half-hearted "sorry about that" and a chocolate mousse literally thrown on top when they realized that they had forgotten the box for the flat bread but honestly it was a huge let down. I don't have a lot of nights that I go out but when I do I don't expect to have such a poor experience. Admittedly it usually isn't this bad but tonight it was.
All companies eventually have a service let down. It is inevitable. How you deal with it speaks volumes about a commitment to quality. As of last night as far as I know there is no commitment to quality. Two stars only because the have been better and they can be better. And yes. I attached the receipt paid for and tipped on paid in full. - Esther U.Salt Lake City, UT12210May 15, 2019
On Mother's Day 2019, our family reserved a table for eight for Trio Cottonwood dinner at 7:00. Expecting a nice menu that always accommodated our diverse palates, vegetarian, etc., we were very unhappy that Trio had a buffet.
We were never told it was a buffet when the reservation was made.
Not only was the price twice as much as single orders off the menu, the food was old, dry, and germ suspect. No vegetarian choices. Nothing was hot that should have been hot and the desserts, what there were of any food item, were warm. The service was poor, fresh items were not replenished, and help was difficult to find when needed. We all felt we had been duped and really ripped off. We won't be back.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Barbara P.Salt Lake City, UT48156483Feb 10, 2019
Why, why did we bother to go there, again?! We walked in, an employee was too preoccupied that she did not notice us. We stood there and waited for a few minutes then, decided to just walk into the dining room. Finally, someone came and greeted us. Once we sat down, no one came to service us. After waiting a while, someone showed up and took our orders. She brought our drinks and we waited a while for our food. Once our food arrived, we never saw the waitress, again. No refilling of our drinks. We finally saw her when she brought our check. I then, asked for refills.
I don't think we will be going back, again. The food was just ok. We had the Cobb Salad and the Vegetarian Hash.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Janine C.Dallas, TX985522Mar 30, 2017Updated review
Trio, Trio, Trio. You sure know how to make a girl's heart pitter patter. The BEST tomato soup in the valley and a BLT that will make your tastebuds sing. If the weather permits, sit out on the patio.
The staff and owners are amazing! The friendliest people and always give the best suggestions. WE LOOOOOOOOVE TRENT!!!!!
Trio is an easy decision. The hardest decision you will make while there is which flatbread to get. Let me help you out: get them all.
10 Cheers for Trio!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0Business owner information

Damn ya'll, can Trio Cottonwood get a little love?
I did some googling and it looks like the Trio up in Park City is now closed? At least that's what I'm seeing online. That's a shame, considering Trio has been a Salt Lake City staple for a hot minute. However, the market up there is a little crazy so I'm not entirely surprised she didn't make it.
That leaves you with two options Trio: Downtown and Trio Cottonwood. Trio Downtown is usually bustling, if you're looking for a more traditional, city esque dining experience, that's where I'd send you. If you're looking for something a bit less crowded, more laid back, and a bit more spacious, Trio Cottonwood is probably gonna be your pick.
It's located conveniently, right off of I-215 and within spitting distance of Big Cottonwood Canyon. The surrounding area is a bit odd, right on the cusp of a few neighborhoods, and smack dab in a business park. However, where there are offices, there are restaurants!
Again, it's more spacious than downtown, and a bit less intimate. But, I've never seen it near capacity, and well, for me that's not an issue in the slightest. Not to mention the parking situation is eons better than downtown.
I see a lot of the negative reviews on here list the service as being their primary gripe. I just don't see it that way. I will admit, it is slower than the downtown location but it's a "neighborhood" cafe, not a downtown hub, by its nature it's a bit more laid back. However, I'm not one to care about immaculate service. They do just fine. For me, unless something is truly dire, it's not worth deducting stars.
The food is pretty damn good. It's not a game changer, but it's reliable and I've never been dissatisfied. The rosemary flatbread is your must try appetizer, and I usually go the pasta route for entree. I've found those to be the best executed. There's not a huge variety on the menu, but that's okay because there's really no need for there to be. Trio usually sticks to what they know, and I believe that's the reason they remain successful. Additionally, they have a decent wine list, some quality post meal coffee and desserts.
I feel badly that people have had sour experiences, but I still urge you to give it a try. I think it's considerably better than how it's been rated on here.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0
