Cafe Sunflower offers some amazingly delicious vegan-friendly eats. My partner Zack and I are regulars here and we have tried pretty much everything on the menu.

I recommend: Any of the stir-fry items, the polenta, the newly added enchilada (with vegan cheese), the lasagna, the brussel sprouts, the spring rolls and so much more.

    The deserts are delicious too!

I love this place. I've only been once, but I've been begging my non-vegetarian friends to come with me to this place again! When I went I had this pomegranate lemonade which was delicious, this alone could have been 5 stars.

Next, I ordered a soup special which was butternut squash soup. yummm I think this is the reason I fell in love with this place. I ordered the Pad Thai because I cannot resist! I was disappointed with the lack of texture and the overall sogginess of it. However, I did get to try a few bites of my friends curry tofu scramble. This was perfect. I immediately wished that I had picked this (my 2nd choice) instead of the pad thai. The veggies were perfectly cooked and the tofu was thinly sliced and pan fried so the texture was great also.

I can't WAIT to go back here... also ( i would never order this myself) the chocolate chocolate cake was freakin' awesome... man Im so glad I got to take a bite of this as well. If I ever get a 2nd chance to go here, and its as amazing, Ill give it 5 stars and a much sappier review.

This was my first time dining at a vegetarian restaurant. I was excited to see the rest of the menu, and how the chefs make gluten-free replacements.

I was lucky enough to come to Cafe Sunflower with a big group of great company. While most of us are typical carnivores, it was interesting to see a wide variety of dishes that are familiar. We had a variety of tastes such as: fajitas, sesame chicken, curry, pad thai, eggplant parmesan, and ravioli.

Our server was very helpful, and caught on to my mentioning gluten intolerance. I was asking what the #1 dish that was most ordered. Our server answered, "Hands down, the sesame chicken". Turns out, some of the faux-meat is entirely gluten based, while some is soy or Seitan. I was almost immediately handed a gluten-free menu, where I was happy to see that the Acorn Squash entree was double- listed. We have a winner!

Meanwhile, some of us are analyzing and absorbing the menu, while being completely oblivious that meat-isnt-really meat. This leads to later satisfaction before our buddy Rick practically licked down his plate. When it tastes like chicken, it tastes like chicken, am I right?

Let it be known that Cafe Sunflower's sesame chicken is way more palpable than a frozen MorningStar Farms.-- I'll be honest, I had my doubts.

All doubt was erased when a steaming plate of fake STEAK fajitas came to my friend's knife and fork. Clearly, there was a lot of time put into making the entrees unique. Not to forget my acorn squash could have been displayed in a gallery of deliciousness. Oh wait, I did. I added a Yelp photo to the business, enjoy!

We tried appetizers of spring rolls, edamame, spinach dip, and fried green tomatoes. While I prefer Houston's spinach dip, across the parking lot, I was really enjoying the fried greens. They were large in size and stacked with hummus between each layer. Another lick-able plate had I not been in public. A girl can dream.

Cafe Sunflower made a touchdown when they hit our sweet spots. When we found out that their cakes were from Southern Sweets, I was sold. If you've ever had the SS Carrot Cake, then you'd know what I mean!

I will definitely be coming back to Cafe Sunflower. They put care and consideration into their plates and entrees, while the service was both helpful and accommodating. I appreciate a dining experience that is delicious, unique, and educating!

Once again, my birthday rolled through, meaning I get to have a nice dinner out with my family.  My mom (meat eater) said she would like to go back to Cafe Sunflower and I was more than willing to obey her wish!

We started with the vegan spinach dip, and it was delicious.  It almost creeped me out with its seemingly cheesy consistency.  I had the ravioli stuffed with squash, veggies, and soy ricotta.  My only complaint is that I could've eaten double the amount of ravioli I got because it was so effing good!  But I'm glad I didn't stuff myself because cake would be on the way.

My mom loved her sweet and sour soy chicken, and my dad ate a lot more of his  fajitas than I thought he would.  My sister downed her pita pizza, while my other sis got the veggie loaf with mashed potatoes. It was stacked up into a pyramid shape that made my dad hum the Close Encouters alien-summoning ditty.  I tried to get a picture but she ripped into it too fast.

Then came the chocolate raspberry mousse cake, complete with candle.  THIS is what my dad came for, he still can't believe it's vegan.  It's so decadently, splendidly rich none of us could finish our slices except my dad, Mr. Fighting Off Diabeetus.   He said the queasy sugar rush he got from it was worth it.

As usual, this is my favorite spot for a celebratory dinner of any sort, and it definitely didn't disappoint once again.  Hopefully we will be back for our anniversary in May.

YUM!  I had my birthday dinner here and everyone was impressed with the meal, including the meat eaters.  I had the dairy free ravioli and it was delicious.  There are a lot of vegan and gluten free dishes on the menu.  Furthermore, all of the desserts are to die for and you would never know they are vegan.  Absolutely delicious and our waiter was so so nice, attentive, and knew the menu well.  I cant wait to go back.

I'd give it one more star if it were a little less expensive so I can go more often.  It's so worth the price!!

So my wife and I decided to go vegan as of January 1st and have been looking, rather in vain for good restaurants that will have at least some things that we can eat.  We don't have to have the restaurant be vegan, but it's nice to have an option beyond just salad or a veggie burger.

In the Café Sunflower, on first visit at least, we seem to have found that place.

In scrolling down the reviews here, it would seem 90% are positive, but the ones that aren't are fairly negative.  Not sure if those were extra picky vegetarians or if they just hit the place on an off day.

All I can say is we tried 2 appetizers, an entrée, 2 tapas items, a soup and a dessert and everything we had was phenomenal.  We tried spring rolls (the non-fried kind wrapped in a rice paper wrapper), pot stickers (option for steamed or fried), a Thai entrée salad, soup, appetizer of soy nuggets which were awesome and came with 2 sauces and our kids had basic pasta dishes.  The service was good also.  The guy even forgot to bring us our soup, remembered later and packed it to go and took it off the check, so he took care of us without it ever even being an issue.  If I were to nitpick and find fault with anything it would be the raw sliced mushrooms on my Thai salad.  I just personally don't like mushrooms unless they have been cooked.

I will also add that this is the kind of place that is great; not just great vegetarian, but great all around.  Thus, you could easily go there with friends or family who aren't vegetarian and they would find plenty of tasty stuff to eat.

To the uninitiated, the place is all vegetarian and mostly vegan.  The only dairy they use is cheese and thus unless a description says cheese, it is a vegan item.  They do have some items that say vegan cheese (presumably Daiya since a lot of non-dairy cheeses are not vegan) and I imagine almost anything could be ordered without cheese or with substituting the vegan cheese.

Ambiance was like a nice upscale restaurant, so a great place for a date, although we were there for lunch with our kids, and it was good for that too.

Price wise, we admittedly ordered more food than we really needed so we could try a variety of things and for a family of 4 with no alcohol, with tip, it was about $70.  Higher than we would typically spend for lunch and high enough where we aren't likely to go more than once a month, but with a little work, we could have gotten that closer to $50.  Portion sizes were good, timing of the food was good and flavor combinations were flavorful and inventive, crossing culinary boundaries between Asian, Indian, Mexican and Italian (basically all my favorites).

We will definitely be back and are anxious to try some other items!

Food: delicious. Stuffed acorn squash was amazing as was the tofu cutlet. All appetizers were just ok. I was definitely impressed and am not an avid vegetarian.

Service: awful. Rude. More consumed with turning over the table than giving good service or refilling water. The server and hostess were everything but physically pushing our group of 6 to go faster.

Its unfortunate that the service was not up to par with the menu. The prices are not a fast food style restaurant.

For an appetizer we got the Soy Nuggets. They were deep friend and served with BBQ sauce and honey mustard...Delicious. Then we got the Sesame Chicken and the Spicy Pad Thai. The Sesame Chicken was fantastic. About as good as you can get to eating soy chicken in my opinion. The Spicy Pad Thai was good too, but not as good as the Sesame Chicken.

The service was good, but the prices were a little high.

"Happy Omnivore loves Vegg Restaurant... Who Knew?!".
Yes, it's true.  I eat just about everything, and LOVE a juicy rare steak so when my good friend Christen invited me to Cafe Sunflower years ago I thought:  "Great.  Nuts and twigs.  I'll leave there hungry and irritable."  Ah, but how WRONG I was!
I've since eaten at Cafe Sunflower many many times!  The salads, the entrees, the desserts, everything is delicious!  My personal two faves are the black bean quesadillas and the chocolate cake... both are amazing!
    Recommend the restaurant whole heartedly!

I  immediately worry when a salad arrives with refrigerated and completely unripe tomatoes at a vegetarian restaurant.  Anyone who cooks should know better.  A HUGE pet peeve of mine is using out-of-season veges when it is NOT NECESSARY, especially in a city like Atlanta. I am sure there are plenty of Farmers Markets and CSA's...Salad was underwhelming but veggy burger was delicious. The Spring Roll appetizer was nothing special.
I was disappointed and hoping for a tasty responsible vegetarian experience while in Atlanta.

Wife and I are regulars here, getting takeout twice a week. Our typical order is the Kung Pao Chicken, the Fajitas, the Tempeh, and a salad.

It goes without saying that this is the best vegan or vegetarian restaurant in Atlanta. More impressively, this place could flourish even in a place look NYC with a large veggie/vegan scene.

What makes Sunflower stand apart from, say, Green Sprout (yuck)? Deftly prepared mock meats, all actually resembling the meats they are mocking. Flavor is derived not just from the "meats" but from the complementary sauces and high quality vegetables. You won't find a thick layer of oil here.

Sunflower is both the perfect place to take a committed vegan or even someone who's never tried vegan food before because of their diverse vegetarian/vegan menu.

Virtually nothing is bad here. Very friendly and competent service.

Cafe Sunflower has a chilled out vibe with dark walls, dim lights, ambient music and a slightly asian decor. The service was fantastiic! I had a very friendly and attentive server named Joe. I am not from the area and was impressed by the hospitality of the Atlanta service industry in general. I could get used to this!

    On to the food...

I had the Harvest Salad made of organic mixed greens, asparagus, Granny Smith apples, gorgonzola cheese, candied walnuts, shredded carrots, dried cranberries and herb croutons in a fresh thyme vinaigrette. The salad was seriously one of the freshest salads I have ever had and it came out nice and chilled. I normally don't like vinaigrette dressing because I get bored with the flavor before I finish the salad, but in this salad the vinaigrette flavor was perfect and because the salad had so many ingredients, every bite had something new.

I tried the decaffeinated herbal iced tea which was tasty. I normally wouldn't drink herbal tea because I assume it would taste medicinal. This tea was quite refreshing.

My only regret is that I did not order the carrot cake for dessert!

Great flavor and a nice presentation. Definitely more of an upscale vegetarian venue...one of the few in Atlanta. I always get good service and I'm always pleasantly surprised and the flavors that they can put together. I am not a vegetarian, but I enjoy vegetarian cuisine occasionally. My fiance is adverse to "granola-type" food and he enjoys the place too!

I always think it needed to say thank you to these restaurants because vegetarian and vegan restaurants are so infrequent.

The food was interesting, which is nice instead of the standard plain salad that is often served as the vegetarian option.

The waitress was very pleasant. I managed to drink 5 glasses of water during dinner. So, when I was leaving the waitress brought me a to go glass of water!

Also, the atmosphere is adorable. The Chinese lanterns and the stain glass makes a creative atmosphere. However, it's a little too dark for some people.

This place is great! I've eaten here twice now and it has been excellent! Last night we came in for dinner and the place was packed, we waited for about 20 minutes to sit. I believe they take reservations for large groups. For the app, we ordered the plantains which were awesome! For the mains, my girlfriend got the eggplant and risotto, which she loved and I got the veggie loaf. All I have to say about the loaf is that I am in love! The presentation was excellent and the flavors were out of this world! Every bite was a treat! I joked that I would get the veggie loaf for dessert too! Fortunately, we tried the chocolate cake for dessert and it was delicious! Overall, everything about this place is excellent and you should definitely try it out!

Perhaps owing to the rave reviews, I was more than a little underwhelemd by Cafe Sunflower.  We had the nachos and the pad thai.  The nachos were super cheesy, but it tasted like white american cheese (not good for nachos).  They should have replaced all of this cheese with more avocado (it was too sparse).  But the fake meat tasted ok.  The pad thai was not spicy (which was how it is advertised).  It was almost like alfredo sauce.  I did like the mushrooms, though.  And service was super friendly.

I want to give more than 2 stars because it's a vegan restaurant, but that's just not enough reason.  The food is beautiful.  If I stopped there (at presentation alone) I could easily award 4 stars, but then I got hungry and had to eat it.  I have botched recipes at home that tasted better than what I ordered here.

I will give 5 stars to the spinach artichoke dip.  I wish I had made a meal of that instead.

If you want pretty pictures of vegan food, come here.  If you're actually hungry, keep driving.

Don't let the strip mall exterior fool you! Cafe Sunflower, with its huge Japanese ceiling lanterns and po-mo wall hangings, exceeded my atmospheric expectations.

Emme W. and I both had the tofu scramble, which came with a pile of Romaine lettuce shreds, jalapeño rings, guacamole and corn tortillas. Mushrooms sat intermixed with the egg-like tofu.

I washed down the Mexican-inspired meal with two glasses of raspberry tea. Our fetching waiter Joe didn't rush us at all whilst we chatted, and encouraged us to relax as long as we wanted.

Cafe Sunflower actually makes vegetarianism look tasty.

    Absolutely spectacular!

We're not vegetarians per se, but we have some close friends who are, and it's always touch and go whenever we've met them for dinner because we're never sure there will be enough vegetarian fare to choose from.  So they suggested Cafe Sunflower, and OMG I couldn't believe it was actually "vegetarian".

Everything, and I mean everything, was picture perfect on the plate - you wanted to just admire it rather than dig in!  The sesame "chicken" was out of this world.  My husband had the fajitas and was even more amazed than I was - he didn't say much all evening because he was busy pigging out (can I say "pigging" when referring to a vegetarian restaurant?), but we did catch him moaning satisfyingly a few times "man this is really good".

For dessert, we shared the strawberry shortcake, and it was a perfect way to finish off a perfect meal.

I'm not a vegetarian, nor do I frequent vegetarian restaurants - but this place is just extraordinarily good. I was surprised to see how trendy-upscale the interior of this restaurant was, especially being located in a strip mall with nothing but basic neon light signage.

I had the sesame "chicken", which was really delicious. It didn't leave me missing real chicken at all - the soy tasted great. My friend got the fried tofu cutlet, which was equally palette-pleasing. I would definitely come back again. And again.

Traveling as a veggie is pretty tough, I seem to eat a lot of boring salads.

Here, I got lucky!  I was seated right away even though the place was filling up quickly.  Was also promptly greeting and given the run-down on the menu and drinks.  I opted for the Jamaican ginger ale and the Spring Qunoa.  Very fresh and good flavor.  The best was saved for last as I decided to indulge in the Raspberry Chocolate Mousse Cake, so decadent.  Better shared with 3 of your besties as this thing is rich.

The ambiance does leave something to be desired since it's situated in a strip-mall next to a gym.  Inside however, they have a nice asian themed decor, however I don't see the tie to the menu.

I'll definitely be stopping here next time I'm in town!  Thanks!

This place was the reason I created a Yelp account.
I just moved to Atlanta from San Francisco and thought I would die in the south being Vegan.
This city has totally proved me wrong and this place is one of the best vegan restaurants I've ever been to. They make the menu so easy by noting that as long as it doesn't say it has cheese, it's vegan. Yes!! Thank you!
Even though the food is flawless, you have to save room for dessert when you come here, it's not to be missed!
We found out it is the owner's daughter who composed and created the unique music that is played in here, I wish they sold cd's of it!
The atmosphere is absolutely engaging and beautiful and the server was cool but very attentive.
I cannot stress enough that I found everything about this place to be perfect.
    Thank you Cafe Sunflower!

I visited Cafe Sunflower because I had a vegan friend in town and I heard that it had some of the best Vegan food in the city.  It did not disappoint! We both started with wine, and orders of the fried green tomatoes and the vegan spinach and artichoke dip.  Really tasty starters--though the chips with the spinach dip were a little salty.

I had the Portobello Wellington, and it was, quite simply, one of the most delicious meals I've had in some time.  It was so flavorful that I didn't miss there being meat in it for a second!  My friend had the Southern Polenta Napoleon, and loved it--she especially enjoyed the faux pork featured in it.  We were both STUFFED after dinner--but couldn't resist the vegan cake selection.

All of this added up to a pricey meal, but  it was worth every CENT.  If dining reasonably, two people could come, share two appetizers and one entrée leaving entirely full, and spend $20 each.

Spectacular food, lovely ambiance, fabulous wait staff.  I'll definitely be back.

A vegetarian/vegan restaurant that serves beer....they must have had me in mind.  For many years, Cafe Sunflower has been at the top of the heap of vege eateries.  The food is consistently good and the specials unique.  My fave is the Sloppy Joe (unfortunately only on the lunch menu) and any of their desserts.  Service is okay and the pricing is aight, but the food is reliably tasty.

Trust me and go here, you won't miss the meat.

Cafe Sunflower was the first vegetarian restaurant I dined in, and it still remains as my absolute favorite vegetarian cuisine.

I am simply health-conscious and was worried about my boyfriend's eating habits and diet.  He used to claim that he cannot live without consuming some type of meat everyday.  So one day, I took him to Cafe Sunflower, determined to change his mind.  We ordered Sunflower Box as the appetizer, Sesame Chicken as the entree, and Chocolate Peanut Butter Mousse Cake as the dessert.  To cut the long story short, my boyfriend fell in love with their food.  He was awed by how great it tastes (and yet so healthy!)  Moreover, he enjoyed the mock chicken from the Sesame Chicken dish more than his normal Chinese take-out type.  He said it was "less greasy and more flavorful."

Even to this day, my boyfriend sings about how he wants to go back to Cafe Sunflower so he can have some Sesame Chicken.  Now, if my meat-loving boyfriend is willing to give up meat for faux chicken, do I still have to explain how good their food is?  If you don't believe me, go and try it.  You will find yourself agreeing with me.

There's a Johnny Cash song that goes to the tune of... "I've been everywhere, man" and I probably have in the catagory of popular vegetarian restaurants in major cities....and nothing compares to Cafe Suflower.

This place is consistantly great, inventive and always a crowd pleaser. I have brought many of meat eaters here and they have become some of the biggest frequenters to this fine restaurant.

If you come here you have to try one of the specials of the day. They are always the best thing and will not disappoint. And, if the lemon chicken is available, GET IT! It is one of the dishes that I compare every vegetarian restaurant's food to. It's light, delicate, and big enough for  leftovers the next day (as is all the dishes).

This place gets 5 stars and deserves all of them. Just trust me. You won't regret it.

Cafe Sunflower is the Rolls-Royce of vegetarian restaurants in Atlanta.  Absolutely essential in the fan of veggies only world, and also a beautiful place to dine even if you swing carnivorous.  I first heard about this place because my mom saw it on the Food network channel or in some kind of 'foodie news,' and its become a staple where I take any out of town vegetarians for a fun meal.

They also have cool happenings like special holiday buffets and cooking classes too.

This place was amazing. The appetizer I got (fried plantains with black bean sauce) was delicious and absolutely huge. I was starving (hadn't eaten all day) and thankfully my friend with me was hungry too because there's no way I could have eaten it and eat my dinner by myself.

The polenta napoleon (I can't remember the exact name of it) was AMAZING too. I don't usually like fake meat, but the faux ham was amazingly yummy. It seemed like the dinner menu was a wee on the expensive side, but for the quality and quantity, it's actually quite reasonable.

My friend, who isn't vegetarian but is considering going veg, loved this place too and said she was taking everyone there. Our waiter was also great, although I have to say the hostess was rather rude to us, thus the reason why I'm giving 4 stars rather than 5.

I'm a carnivore and this was my first experience at a Vegetarian Restaurant. Needless to say, I was taken off guard by the food selection and delivery. I wanted to order nearly everything on the menu, but luckily I had an amazing waiter who steered us all towards something we loved.  Speaking of the waiter, he was awesome, and a fellow carnivore who dug the food too. He entertained us and delivered excellent suggestions.

This is a great place for a reasonable meal that should come to mind when you are tired of getting the same old things. You will probably try something you would never order in a normal restaurant and expand your inner connoisseur.

Don't leave without getting a desert. The things they do without milk and gluten are impressive to say the least.

My husband & I had 2 wonderful meals here while we were in Atlanta.  The food was spectacular and the service was perfect, both times.  Our server the first night we went was named Steven and he provided the closest to perfect service that I've experienced in a long time--friendly, knowledgeable, attentive, but not intrusive.  We sampled many items during our 2 back to back visits and everything was amazing.  There were so many other items on the menu I want to try!  I also enjoyed the ambience of the restaurant--classy, but not stuffy or overly formal.  Prices were not too bad, for a nice place.  Anytime we're in the Atlanta area, we'll be sure to go back to this wonderful restaurant!
