I cannot say enough great things about Cafe Prague. Food, service, atmosphere is OUTSTANDING. We will be back and plan on taking friends and family.
I have noticed in other reviews a lot of the bad ones are due to service or going on a concert night at Red Rocks. Do not come here if you're in a hurry or expecting to grab your food and run to a show. Cafe Prauge deserves a nice chunck of your time...and it's worth it. -

First, allow me to say, if we are rating the food alone, this place deserves a much higher rating. We're talking 4 stars. However, when I dine, and especially when I spend this much on a meal, the service counts as much as the food. My husband and I have been here 4 or 5 times. A solid 3 times, we have encountered waitstaff who are flippant, dismissive, or flat out rude. Tonight, I think, marks my last business dealing with them. I am currently pregnant, and on bed rest, and had a strong craving for their food. My sweet husband agreed to go get it if I placed a take out order. After looking on Yelp and on the restaurants own website, I saw that both said they do take out orders. I called, and was extremely polite and humorous, telling them I'm so sorry but I'm pregnant and just desperately needed some of their food. The first person I spoke to was exasperated and dismissive, said, "well, we don't usually do that, but I guess we can." I apologized for any inconvenience, and he passed me off to someone else. The second person was flat out rude, telling me "yeah I guess we can do it, but we are busy, so don't expect it to be ready any time soon." I said, "Of course, we can come get it whenever it is convenient." I gave him my order, which he took so rudely, I told him, "Sir, I don't have to place an order at all if it is this inconvenient." And he assured me they could, but it would take 45 minutes. Now, I understand that this is a nice place, and I'm sure take out orders are not common or convenient. However, I called with a great deal of courtesy, acknowledging the inconvenience and apologizing, and was met with distain. If this was the only time, I'd dismiss it. However, we have been met with this attitude several times, in person. If they have a problem with take out orders, then they should not state that they provide them on their website. I was simply operating on the information that was available to me. Anyway, I hope that this is a good meal, as it will be the last I have of theirs, unless there is a major service overhaul.

Easily one of the best dining experiences/meals I have ever had.
The restaurant is dark and romantic- the decor and accents really add to the charm of the place.
Service was Fantastic! Kurtis did a wonderful job!
Escargot was perfection! (Garlic and buttery- so good) Also had the Beef Carpaccio- Yum
The wine list is fantastic; I tried the DeLoach Pinot Noir
Had the Chicken Marsala and sampled the Salmon Stuffer- both dishes were a delight on my taste buds.
After dinner drinks on the patio next to the fireplace- and a few bites of the crème brulee was a perfect end to a fantastic meal.
A great place to celebrate with friends, family, or a romantic date night! -

So disappointed in this lovely looking restaurant on the main street of Morrison. Sat outside on their patio. Our server was attentive but the food left something to be desired.
We had one chicken snitzel and a caesar salad with grilled shrimp placed on top. Portions were small and yes there were three of us who shared the two lunches. We planned on ordering more but it was not good enough to try something else. The shrimp had an off taste and my friend was not thrilled with the salad itself. The chicken, mashed potatoes and beets were ok.
Be careful at lunch they do not make the same food as for dinner. That was disappointing to my friend. They had a private party that night and that might have been the difference? I had been before and the food was very good. This was an extremely disappointing experience. -

Patio smells like sewage... I believe they may have a septic tank under it :(
So assuming you don't mind smelling sewage while you eat, the wait staff and food are excellent! -

I was very excited to go here based on the reviews. I have to say I don't think we could have been more disappointed.
We arrived and were greeted by a server that looked at us and said "Yes?" That was the greeting, not how are you or can I help you but a very pretentious "Yes?" We told him we wanted a table for two and he just pointed to a table.
We sat down and there were two bugs on the plate that was on the table when we pointed them out he offered no apologies just replaced the plate with one from the table next to us.
We ordered a bottle of wine and both glasses that he brought were very dirty. They actually had food stuck to them and were very spotty. Not what I expected when we order a $50 bottle of wine. We also ordered some calamari with extra lemons. When it arrived we noticed it did not have the extra lemons so we asked the waiter to get them. He looked at us rolled his eyes and said "Yeah!"
At that point we were done we asked for the check and left. I would avoid that place like the Plague. In fact I would prefer if they rename the place Cafe Plague. -

I've been to this place a few times because it's on the way home from work, and it's never disappointed. Good duck!
For the person who mentioned an issue about a rez for 5 OR 6? Well it DOES make a difference to the person who needs to find & set you a table in a smaller restaurant. Cut them some slack.
Personally, I can't stand when a server crawls up my proverbial butt. Some are just professional without wearing a crazy smile, falling all over you like they're desperate for tips. Respect begets respect! So don't expect waitstaff to perform like hyper-smiling dancing monkeys, and you'll have a better time anywhere you go. Works for me. -

We went to Cafe Prague before the Steve Miller Band concert at Red Rocks and were very pleased with the ambiance at first.
I walked into Cafe Prague to see if they had any available seating for 4 people. The inside of the restaurant was nearly empty and we chose to sit outside which was a great area, but also nearly empty.
After ordering about 10 minutes after arriving and drinking one bottle of wine and sharing a brie appetizer, we continued to wait for our dinner. After an hour of waiting for our meal, we had to leave so we could make the concert on time.
We told the waiter (with much regret since we were all looking forward to eating what we ordered) that we had to leave without getting our meals. The manager or owner, I'm not sure which, came to our table and got very upset with us for having to leave. He said that normal waiting time for a meal is ONE HOUR because "this is not a fast food restaurant." I've been to plenty of great restaurants and I've never been asked to wait an hour after ordering my entree. We did not raise our voices, we did not make a fuss over any of it, until he came to our table yelling at us and making a scene. I was completely caught off guard, especially when he began to look at me (a woman) and start to yell when my fiance was the one talking to him to begin with. The man's issue was that we wanted to only pay for the wine and appetizer when we ordered meals. He literally yelled at us in front of other customers outside. It was embarrassing and certainly not our intention to go there and order our food and not eat it or pay for it. Waiting an hour is ridiculous especially when the restaurant was as empty as it was while we were there.
I wish we could review their food, but we never got that far. Unfortunately, I would never recommend this restaurant to anyone due to the treatment we received.
At the end of it all we told him we would not be back and he said that he did not NEED us to come back anyway. The restaurant either needs a better crew in the kitchen to get the food out quickly or they need new management. -

All I can say is YUMMY!!!!!! Escargot for starters..delicious! I had the special seafood newburg, shrimp and scallops in a lobster sauce. The pate is to die for!!! We went for a friend's birthday celebration so we sat in a private dining area. Our waiter, Kurtis, was the best!!!! Cocktails outside after dinner by the fireplace! It's a great atmosphere and delicious food!!!!!

Went back tonight and was equally as impressed. Wow.
The brie appetizer made me want to slap my own face. I had a hard time sharing. The dill soup was very tasty and I had the brie-stuffed salmon for an entree---again. Clearly I am of the opinion that brie is never wrong.
By the end of the night I was eating for sport, true, but boy was I happy about it. My companion had the wienerschnitzel with a side of gravy and it too was very good. For dessert we had the streudel ala mode which was perhaps a bit superfluous (insofar as I could barely swallow another bite) but also terrific.
This is a GREAT restaurant. One of my favorites by far.1 Previous Review: Show all »

Review from David T.
I have to say that this is the best Eastern European restaurant in the Denver Metro area if you take into consideration the ambiance, the food and the service. Really all top drawer (except dessert - more on that later).
I've driven by this place going to and from Red Rocks and never thought much about it. Most places in Morrison are just little dives or tourist traps. This place turns out to be quite sophisticated - somebody spent a bundle fixing this place up. It's modern but warm, spotlessly clean and the service does credit to the European school - flawless in every regard. Quiet when we arrived but completely full with a big party in a lovely private room in the back when we left.
It is a bit of a drive and everyone was converging from different parts of town so we arrived separately. No problem. They seated us and brought us cocktails as we all arrived. Wonderful Czech beers and a quite extensive wine list - all reasonably priced. Warm bread and a plate of house made pate with lingonberries, sour pickles and capers with a wonderful assortment of warm breads got us off to a good start ($12). Entrees (all around $20) come with soup or salad. I had the sauerkraut soup which was absolutely divine - a little creamy with chunks of sausage. Yum, perfect on a cold night. Those who had the Caesar salad found it adequate but were lusting after my soup.
The entree roster is fairly standard Eastern European fare - schnitzels, roulades, kassler rippchen, sauerbraten, dumplings, spaetzle, potato pancakes, red cabbage - with a few American items. They had a seafood Newburg special, Wall Eye Pike, some steaks, etc. But on a cold December night the Eastern European specials hit the ball out of the park. We pretty much sampled a little of everything but I concentrated on a perfectly crispy Wiener Schnitzel with great braised red cabbage and mashed taters. Totally marvelous. Others enjoyed the sauerbraten and pork schnitzel. Plates were all dispatched far too quickly - little oinkers, so are we all.
Really no room for dessert and I have to take off a star because the dessert offerings were pretty uninspired. We did order one strudel to share which was terribly disappointing following such a wonderful meal. It was totally limp and boring - bah humbug. The complimentary apple schnapps more than made up for it though.
All in all - a lovely spot. Just wish it wasn't in Morrison (or maybe I'm glad it is because if it was closer I could do some serious diet damage). Well worth the trip up the hill. -

This place is wonderful. We started out with the Beef Carpaccio which melted in your mouth. Thier fried calimari was lightly crunchy, very tasty and packed with flavor. I had the scallops and shrimp in a cream sauce that was to almost die for. I normally don't have a dessert but I couldn't turn down the cheesecake.
The service was excellent. I walked in a received a hello or welcome from what seemed like everyone that worked there.
This place is a must if you are in or around the area. I will be going back. -

My mom has lived in Morrison for nearly two decades, so we have tried all the restaurants in the town many, many times and...thank goodness for Café Prague!
It has THE most consistently great food, service and atmosphere in town.
Granted, nearly all the places to eat in Morrison have a nice patio and a really pretty location, but the majority of places also have below average eats and service.
Café Prage is the exception - everything on the menu is delicious and we have had good service every time.
I think the price is slightly higher than some of the other places, but the better quality of food and service is worth it. -

Ho-Hum sums it up. It was good food but definitely not worth the poor abrasive service. My friend asked for a wine recommendation this is how the conversation went:
friend:"Can you recommend a wine to go with the pork dish?" (i don't remember the name)
waiter:"Red or White?"
friend:"Umm (confused) I guess white?"
waiter:"We have chardonnay, riesling, Sauvignon Blanc, ..."
friend:(more confused) "chardonnay?"
waiter:"We have a _______"
friend:"I guess I'll have that"
Not really the recommendation he was looking for not to mention the waiter had a rude tone like why don't you know what you want to drink.
The food was alright the scallops were the best dish we had they were done really well. The rest of the dishes weren't any better than what we would cook at home. We won't be going again. -

A lovely little taste of home.
Cafe Prague is a very nice little cafe with Eastern European food fare done so well. With a lovely mural and cozy atmosphere, one can forget, even for a moment, that one is just in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains and not sitting in a cafe by the Vlata.Listed in: Denver in the Future

Service was quick and responsive. However food was very disappointing for the price. Overall the food did not seem fresh. Calamari was served luke warm, bread was still frozen on the inside. Entrees were ho hum as well. The only thing that seemed well crafted was the dill soup. Hopefully it was just an off night for them. But we don't plan on coming back.

I finally got the chance to eat at Cafe Prague this weekend and to say the least it was a really good experience. They offer fine European and American cuisine. Let's call it Euro-Americana, though I'm sure they disagree on calling it that. You can only eat dinner here as they are only open Tues-Sun 5-9pm. It's certainly a good idea to make reservations. We made ours for 6pm and arrived 15 minutes early and we're seated promptly, but right at 6 o'clock groups of people started showing up. The decor as described on their website is upscale and contemporary. Dark colored wooden ceiling and walls and on one wall is a scenic painting of Prague. There is another one at the back by the bar. They do have a patio which when our reservations were made we requested to be seated on the patio and we were told, the patio would not be open. How could you not have your patio open on a near 80 degree day? Of course after we were seated the patio suddenly became open. It's the reason I didnt give them 5 stars.
Just about everyone that works here has a European accent of some sort, except the waitresses. Our waiter who had a strong accent himself, was very polite and at times he seemed to be a little perturbed, but maybe that's his upbringing or maybe he didnt like American humor or something. "Stupid Americans" is what the bubble over his head read. I saw it, but I dont think anyone else did. Or maybe I've read too many comics in my life.
I had the Bohemian Sauerbraten which is sliced marinated beef loin with creamy vegetable sauce, lingonberries, sweet and sour red cabbage, and Bohemian bread dumplings. I coupled that with a glass of an Italian pinot grigio and they went together just fine. I'm not into trying to match my food with my wine, based on what the meat is. I want what I have a taste for and that's that. Make sure to clear your palette. After dinner, Cafe Prague clears your table and the waittress brings you a complimentary shot of a great tasting, really smooth, apple schnapps. Had they given me a second one, then I could've forgiven them on the patio and given them 5 stars, so let's say 4.5 instead. For dessert I hade their homemade apple strudel, which was covered in powdered sugar and chocolate syrup draped in a design across it. And it was very good and the ice cream came in a little side cup.
A note on parking. There is free on the street parking for up to three hours. And there is also a small lot across the street from the restaurant and there is a little old man who checks to make sure you're going to Cafe Prague. If you are then parking is free, if not there is a fee. The staff and Cafe prague are very gracious that you took the time to join them for dinner. Kudos to Cafe Prague and their staff, I hope to see you again soon. -

Server Michael fantastic. Very very quick service on every course. I will make this a regular stop. Gets very busy by 6:30pm. Get reservations or get there by 5pm. Large wine selection and great authentic Czech food. I highly recommend this for a delectable fine dining experience.

This is one of those places I always forget about when I'm trying to think of places to go. Too bad, because it is the BOMB if you are craving real stick-to-yer-ribs Eastern European comfort food. We're talking about various types of meat smothered in various types of sauces (or gravies, if you will), next to various types of starch (potatoes, dumplings, potato dumplings...) and various types of cabbage (red, sweet, sour, sweet and sour...). Who can't get behind that? We came here for a fix after we'd returned from a trip to Germany and were feeling a little homesick for the schnitzel. The atmosphere is much more sleek and sophisticated than I'd expected. I felt like I was dining in a very cool martini bar. The service was top notch and we were even given a complimentary shot of some sort of apple flavored liquer as a post dinner digestif. Very classy. And very European.

My husband and I went for an early Valentine dinner 2/12/11 - first time at Cafe Prague - wanted to try their Gouglash as I grew up on Hungarian Goulash and homemade bread dumplings. The food, soup, salad and desert were excellent. My husband even liked the goulash soup and he doesn't usually eat goulash. Only thing I was disappointed in was that for them their "Bohemian Bread Dumplings" were just soft bread slices. I was hoping they would be like I make with the bread, egg, flou, seasoning, water and formed into balls and dropped into boiling water. My grandfather's family from Austria would make them out of old bread. I will definitely be going back to try more wonderful things on their menu.

This restaurant is quickly becoming one of our favorite places for special occasions. We recently had some friends in town and brought them to the Cafe Prague to celebrate. They were very impressed as everything we ate was absolutely delicious. And they come from a background of food service! I had the port schnitzel and it was prepared perfectly - what is it about breaded pork that tastes so good?!?! Excellent service, wine, deserts. I look forward to returning!

Beware of this place during Denver Restaurant Week. You will not have access to the more economical entrees, should you desire to simply order from the regular menu, and they don't tell you this in advance. The Denver Restaurant Week $52.80 menu is seriously overpriced, with some items marked up as much as $8 more than they would be at any other time of the year. Since all the meals come with soup or salad, the only extra for your $52.80 per couple is a minuscule dessert. On the plus side, the food and service are decent. However, I am giving Cafe Prague only two stars because I feel like we were scammed.

I wrote the review below about Cafe Prague earlier this year. Apparently the owner never received my letter, and was kind enough to send me a $50 gift certificate. I went back to Cafe Prague a few weeks ago and was pleasantly surprised; therefore, I am retracting my initial review (but keeping it posted). The food was better this time, but not five stars good (4 stars is still pretty good). To their credit, the restaurant is very upscale for a mountain town like Morrison. You'd expect a place like this in Denver. It's a great girlfriend restaurant with a cool "Euroesque" vibe. A couple complaints on my last visit would be the music is completely unfitting a restaurant like this, and the prices are high (even with a $50 gift certificate). So, my final recommendation would be, check it out, you probably will enjoy yourself!
-------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------I couldn't disagree more with the positive remarks given to this restaurant. The restaurant scores high on ambiance, service, and cleanliness; but the food--the most important part of the experience--was a total disappointment. I was so dissatisfied that I wrote a personal letter to the owner and never heard a word back from him. I complemented everything, then gave my honest opinion of the food, and he never even took the time to write back. Believe me when I say, when an owner fails to reply to a hand-written letter, there are many things that he (or she) will overlook too. I will NEVER return to this restaurant. EVER! If you like ambiance, service, cleanliness, and some of the worst food in Morrison (no, Colorado), than Cafe Prague is for you. BTW: They are overpriced for their portions. I think the good reviews of this restaurant must be from friends, relatives and employees. Avoid this place! -

My wife and I decided to come back here on a weekday evening as we both wanted to sit on the patio and enjoy the nice end of summer weather. We have eaten here several times before over the past 3 years but I must say the place has gone down hill, mostly because of the atrocious service we received from Milan! From the first time he came to our table scowling and talking in a short, curt, almost angry fashion. He acted this way the entire time we were at the restaurant! The food was ok, but just ok. When you go to a place like this and drop close to $100 with drinks it would be nice to not have to put up with this prima dona! It will be a long time before we return if ever...but since the patio is such a wonderful place if we do go back we will make sure this guy is not our server!

Since I have visited Prague two times myself I was excited to visit this restaurant before we went to a concert at Red Rocks. We arrived shortly after the restaurant opened and immediately the bad service started. When we entered the restaurant you would have thought we were lost and wandered in off the street - no one asked us if we would like a table, etc. We should have turned around and left then. But we asked to be seated for dinner on the patio. Then we were "waited on" by the most surly waiter I have ever seen, the infamous Milan - and I have traveled through 17 countries, so I have experienced rudeness towards Americans. Having read previous reviews we knew there was the possibility of rude service...especially from that particular waiter - our bad luck that he was our waiter. But, as the patio started to fill up, we realized that we was more friendly to other patrons and seemed to be reserving his worst attitude for us. I have no choice but to believe it is because my husband is of another ethnicity...this waiter refused to look directly at my husband and only spoke directly to me. When we realized this we decided to cut our visit short and go to our concert at Red Rocks. As far as the food, is was okay, not authentic compared to what I have eaten in my travels through Prague and Karlovy Vary. We will not be returning to this restaurant.

The food is fantastic. It is old European cuisine at it's best. I will say the owners and waiters can be a bit snooty but if you engage with them in friend conversation they are very gracious. It is definitely a special occasion place due to the cost however there are some very reasonable items too. They have some wonderful soups. The special the night we went was a rack of lamb that was to die - seriously great!

I thought I would check and see if anyone else had similar service issues and voila. I'm assuming the infamous "Milan" was our server because it would be pretty unlikely that one restaurant could have 2 or more such obnoxiously arrogant servers. It's amazing that a restaurant would get so many bad reviews and KEEP the same rude server!? He's lucky he has a job! Serving us seemed to be the biggest annoyance of his life. And we are friendly people! We were late to our concert at Red Rocks because of the slow delivery of our meals. A tiny plate of pasta and 2 orders of seared ahi should not take 40 minutes to get to the table. And for what we paid...? I wondered if he was just trying to punish us for something by "forgetting" our order. Not having the "right" clothes? Not ordering a $100 bottle of wine? I don't know. Now I see that it wasn't anything personal. This guy is just not friendly. Even the water pourer told my husband that if she didn't keep filling his glass (which he had nicely asked her to refrain from doing) he was going to get mad at her...??? The food was ok, but nothing exceptional. But I will give them 2 stars instead of one because at least the ahi tasted good. I don't recommend this restaurant, especially if you are going to a concert at Red Rocks. I'm sure Morrison has other restaurants you'll enjoy.
