Best Breakfast place around!!! clean fast and some very unique foods and twists on breakfast classic.
I had dropped eggs on hash that was put on potato skins and covered with hollandaise sauce and it was FANTASTIC...

I've only ever walked out on 1 movie and 1 restaurant in disgust. These two holders of distinguishment in my life are The Thin Red Line and Cafe on the Common.

My sister and I chose this place as a meet up in the middle between our places for some early get together. Let me save you, the reader, a lot of time by sparing you a LOT of derogatory opinions and just give you the cliff notes and the nitty.

My sister arrived 3 minutes before I did. She reports that it was busy and that the hostess passed over her twice in adding her name to the waiting list and instead attended to TWO sets of customers as they walked through the door.

I walked through the doors, saw my sister and joined her in looking around at the other people and the hostess doing her thing. I was wearing a bright green jacket. Much, MUCH brighter than the dark coats of everyone else waiting to be seated. This seemingly random fact will fit in the near future. I continued standing around and watching this hostess who hadn't taken a name for me or my sister as of yet. I also watched as she asked for the name for a set of customers RIGHT as they walked through the door. After a minute, a couple came through the doors and the hostess who had been looking the other way swiveled around upon hearing the door open, walked over and asked for THEIR party name. I couldn't believe what I was seeing/enduring. I..... was..... pissed........... I yelled, "Hey, we were here first!". The hostess woman stared at me icily, turned to my sister and then through gritted teeth asked her her name.

In hindsight, I should have actually said, "Hey, what's your problem!?" because we were there 1st, four other times. How could this attentive woman have missed my sister and then my entrance? How could she not have noticed the pretty asian girl and the dude in the bright green snowboard jacket as new additions to the waiting area? Anyway, I decided right then to leave before I could make some bad decisions, and for the record I left the restaurant steaming and swearing.

I really liked this place. The food was amazing, the service is great, and it is in a great location in the center of beautiful Mansfield, Massachusetts.
The one thing that sucks is the lines, but I still think it's worth it.

I recommend trying the blueberry and cream cheese pancakes, those are heavenly.

I have trouble giving Cafe On the Common more than 3 stars simply because their chefs are consistently inconsistent. When I eat here either with family or friends they more often than not screw something up to the point that it needs to be taken back.

Word to the wise; get the Crabcakes Benedict but make sure you ask to have your eggs super runny. Otherwise, you will end up with rock hard eggs which has happened every time I've ordered this. It is too delicious not to give it a shot but c'mon people it's a runny egg!!! Make it runny!!!

The menu is plentiful and almost everything is delicious. If you don't mind waiting for a seat head on down for some affordable, delicious breakfast.

So happy to have stumbled upon Cafe on the Common this past year with a friend.  The dining room is very warm & cozy, like your grandmother designed it.  After 3 visits, the Cafe has become my favorite breakfast place in the area and I can't wait to bring my husband there!  So much to choose from, perfect portions and all for a great price!  The pancakes, french toast & side fixins are all old-school style and I can't get enough!

After running a nearby 5k, some friends and i were rather predictably hungry, and headed to a nearby breakfast place that was supposed to be good.  Sure enough, there was a line out the door, which is a characteristic that defines good breakfast places.

That was okay, though; ample time to cool off, stretch out and get good and hungry while waiting for the no-nonsense hostess to find room for six people and a cute kid.

Given the need to undo exercise, though, it was good we waited, since there were delicious unhealthy breakfast items to consume.  i went with the garlic-mashed-potato omelet.  a great invention and i thank them for it.  since i am weird and take a tall glass of soda with breakfast as often as i do coffee, i was glad they had big glasses and free refills.

the portions are huge, the prices cheap to reasonable, and the wait is worthwhile.

Just stopped by this morning. I find a lot of places overcook scrambled eggs into a solid, dry mass but these were plenty soft and rubbery. The blueberry pancakes were chock full of berries and the outer edges were just a touch crispy, which was nice.

The menu is pretty big and I was surprised to see kielbasa listed. I thought my father and I were the only ones who ever made kielbasa at breakfast. Nifty.

I'm glad to have found a good breakfast place in town. Not much else in Mansfield that I know of.

Good food, especially at breakfast, and my first choice for breakfast in Mansfield. I often go with one of the variations on Eggs Benedict. I also like the bright, well-lighted feel, with natural wood furniture that feels modern yet comfortable.

Cafe on the Common's quality also leads to its greatest drawback: long waits. Even by 9am most weekends, the wait can be 30 minutes or more; by late morning and noon, you might face an hour of waiting, and there's not a lot of waiting room inside.  If you want to eat sooner, try Driscoll's up the street.

I can only speak to the breakfast food, but it is definitely yummy. I always get a giant, fluffy waffle with strawberries on top. I think the food is slightly overpriced. It is $20+ for two people to eat a breakfast big enough to make going out worthwhile.

Definitely be prepared to wait a half hour for a table on weekend mornings. There is a fairly good sized "bar" area you can jump into if you see an open seat.

Everyone at my work simply calls this restaurant "The Breakfast Place."  And that seems to be what they're good at: breakfast!  They serve it all day long.

I'm a big pancake fan, and I loved their "sweet and sour" pancakes, which had blueberries and cranberries in them.  Cranberries are yummy in pancakes!  And I asked for a side of bacon, which it says on the menu is four slices, but we got a lot more than four.  That was a big helping of at least six pieces of bacon!

We must have come at a shift change or something because our waitresses did not pay any attention to the group of us standing at the entrance. Nor did it seem like they were interested in us at all. Slightly annoying.

The food is fine...some kind of maple bacon, I think. Prices are alright...not too high.

Great breakfast place! I think it's the best breakfast around personally. They have heaping portions of pancakes and french toast. They also offer a lot of lunch options for breakfast.

I hear that they are now open Friday and Saturday nights as well... I haven't checked it out for dinner yet.

Ate here this morning with my mom. The staff was super fast and friendly. There was a wait when we arrived, but we got seated within 2 minutes since we were only a party of two. There seemed to be a lot of groups.

I had the Eggs Fritatta. Fantastic! My omelet was cooked perfectly. It's an open faced omelet with spinach, tomatoes and Jack Cheese on top. The home fries are nice, big pieces of fresh potato. I asked for a side of bacon, and as one reviewer already said... they give you plenty! It was enough for my mom and I to share.

My waitress was great. I didn't have to ask for a single thing. She brought over jelly for my english muffin, kept my coffee filled up; and as busy as it was, we never had to wait for our check.

I'll definitely be making this my Saturday morning breakfast place.

This is one of our favorite breakfast places.  The food is always good.  Eggs are fluffy, coffee is good and fresh.  Try the stuffed french toast or the banana bread french toast.  Both are very good.

Definitely a mixed experience. We used to go here frequently. When the food is good, it's very good; and a great menu. Unfortunately, it's a bit uneven and the food is not always good.

What's much more uneven is the service. they are far more interested in what's convenient for them than in providing good customer service. We finally go so fed up with the bad-attitude and often outright rude service that we haven't gone back in over a year.

I also can only vouch for the breakfast menu, which has lots of standard fare and some interesting items and specials.  I'll usually sit at the bar, read the paper and enjoy a coffee and hearty breakfast every time I bring my car in for service at a nearby garage ..... which makes me a visitor every 3,000 miles or so.  The fact that there's usually cute waitresses (Melissa looks like Jessica Alba) and consistantly good quality food makes this more than worthy.  Unless the line is too long.

The best breakfast in the area. I have ate here twice, both times for breakfast. The food and service are impeccable. I would highly recommend.
