Los Angeles, CA
Awesome place! Really reminds me of some of the cafes I went to in Thailand as it has some definite Eastern influence.
The owner, Ness, is one of the sweetest ladies I've ever met. She's from Turkey and really meshes Indian, Buddhist, and Mediterranean flavors well.
The whole cafe feels really homey. There's free wifi, great...GREAT coffees, and a nice Indian couch to just sit down and relax on. Definitely my new go-to spot in the neighborhood. -

Amazing coffee. *The* most friendly staff I've encountered in Los Angeles. You feel at home here, it isn't pretentious, it's quiet (but not *too* quiet) and their assortment of teas, coffee and smoothies are awesome. You feel Zen here.
Quickly becomes a go-to favorite spot for working or chatting with friends. -

I've lived 1 mile from this place for nine years and driven buy gazillions of times. I recently moved two blocks closer and decided to give it a shot. I've discovered the BEST coffee in the neighborhood. It's organic and delicious. It's a soothing atmosphere with mellow music and gurgling fountain. I'm so glad I can abandon coffee bean. The surrounding streets have 2 hour street parking, but if you live in the neighborhood it's a great destination to walk to. Definitely buy your coffee from here!

I have lived about a block and a half away from Cafe Om for more than 3 years and just discovered this gem about a month ago! The drinks are delicious, the service is friendly and the atmosphere is divine! I love it and plan to go write here using their free wi-fi wohoo!!

The coffee here is strong and delicious. At least the iced coffee that I get almost every day is. The new owners, Nes and Tolga are very warm and friendly and remembered my name after our first few meetings, as well as my drink order. This is such a great alternative to Starbucks or Coffee Bean. The Wi-fi is fast, the seating areas are comfortable and it feels good to support a wonderful small business in my area. Also, Buy 8 get one free never hurts! Try the delicious tofu wrap. It's better than it sounds.

I wrote a review about this place twice before but cannot find them, so I am giving it another try since I really want people to know about this place.
If you're looking for a quiet place to relax and mind your own business, here is a gem. The coffee tastes great, the atmosphere is very mellow and the people are so nice. I have spent a whole day here and used their free wi-fi and didn't even realize how time passed by. Definitely give it a try if you're in the neighborhood.2 Previous Reviews: Show all »

Los Angeles, CA
This place is TINY with only about 4 tables (two of which are literally 1 sq ft) and a futon which seats about 3-4. So it's not suitable for groups. But this is not a bad place to read, which was my intention, especially with the mellow and soothing background music.
Wifi is free with purchase - they print the code for you on a receipt. There's no shortage of outlets to juice up your laptop.
I had the Tiger Chai with almond milk, and I'll definitely come back for it ($3-$4.25 depending on size). Aside from drinks, they also serve pastries and wraps. -
Review from Reza B.
It's called "Cafe Om," which, for me at least, already sets up certain expectations, like, it's going to be transcendentally delicious, or, smell like incense, or, have a bunch of hippies/hipsters in there. None of the foregoing is true, although it is a very cool, quaint place.
The staff is very friendly, but the place could use a bit more energy. I feel like it was a bit quiet and, at least when I was there, everyone was kind of stand off'ish; but that might have been my perception.
I wasn't happy that the only internet access was pay as you go--I feel like these days WiFi is a Utility and everyone should have access to free WiFi.
The coffee that I had was very good and I really feel like if I give this place a few more tries that it might grow on me.
Overall, I'd say give it a try, if not just to support a small shop with big dreams. -

I came by this place with my girlfriend to hear her sister read. It was a really cool ambiance where we were able to sit down and really relax.
It is a very low key spot on fountain blvd.
They have a talent show on Saturday nights when i went.
(did i mention free wine)
Their juices and coffee is the best.
Great place to study! -

I spent a lovely Sunday afternoon here, at long last, after passing by in my car on a weekly basis. This little nook is a perfect place to set up your laptop and let the day get the best of you. Quiet, semi-secluded, small but roomy, and uncrowded.
Granted, the coffee was not the greatest. I think they buy from the same place as Insomnia, as it had that same incomprehensible taste. Not really good nor bad, just odd.
Groovy service though. Nice little dude helped me set up the wi-fi, which you get a code for an hour and a half on your receipt. Perhaps I have more important things to be doing than lounging on a couch shopping online for 1.5 hours; yet one deep breath and an "om" later, it all seems to fade away. If only for 90 minutes.Listed in: Strung-out on Sunset, Support Your Local Beanery!

Today I finally stopped at Cafe Om and I'm glad I did. I was in search of a great Chai Tea Latte and this is where it ended. I haven't found a place that makes a better chai latte than Nordstrom Cafe, however, this place is just as good as Nordstrom. I enjoyed the art and the antique looking chairs. I'm so happy I found this place because I was in and out within 5 minutes. This place is cozy and not your typical coffee cafe. Also, the Thai Peanut Wrap was delicious!

West Hollywood, CA
To be perfectly frank, I've never been too blown away by Cafe Om. But its come in handy in a pinch (needing caffeine, internet down at home, etc).
What troubles me most about this place is an event that recently happened to me, which I'll share with you.
I was brutally attacked in front of Cafe Om three nights ago. Groceries in my hands, a complete stranger jumped out at me and punched the shit out of my head, neck, throat, face, etc. I actually ended up on top of a car in the middle of Fountain.
So yesterday I walked into this local business, explained what had happened to me and asked the gentleman behind the counter if Om had security cameras facing the street. Maybe they caught a glimpse of what happened or of the assailant who got away.
"Nah", he grumbled, without an ounce of empathy, then turned his back on me to wash a dish.
"....okay....so....no cameras? Well did anyone see what happened to me here? You were open for business. Is there anything you can do to help?"
He just stared at me blankly, then again said, "Nah." Like I was bothersome. Wasting his time.
Now here's the deal - I'm a big boy. I wasn't expecting any hand holding or therapy session or anything. But I do feel as a small business in a predominantly gay community a little more assistance - dare I say humanity - was in order. That's what separates small businesses from the big ones. We choose places like Om over Starbucks for that very reason.
Sadly not any more. -

I don't know why this place has high ratings? The internet did not work, the interior is very sloppy. It gives the feel that anyone can open a coffee shop and just be sloppy and not care about the ambiance.
just not a pleasant experience. -

The haters here (I don't care if their posts are 1 - 3 years old) need to get a life. So what if aspiring screenwriters, actors and producers choose this joint as their place to unwind, relax, write and generally spend some down time consuming coffee, pastries and whatever else Cafe Om sells? Let's keep the review to the place and what it's got on offer, shall we?
First time I came to LA for an extended period was spring '08. I intended to move here the following year and took an early visit opportunity by crashing a friend's place just around the corner from Om. The friend didn't have wifi. So my only nearby alternative was this place. It allowed me a quiet, low key environment to run my online business and contact my clients.
I like my coffee black and strong. That's what they have here. The pastries are also above average; preferable IMO to Starbucks fare and yes, Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf; another coffee shop I like. I don't like their sandwiches since I'm no fan of anything "organic/vegan/vegetarian" and this is all they appear to deal in. There is a public laundromat next door to the west and a shoe repair shop and convenience store next door to the east.
The 50% off after 4 PM is also very cool. -

It's an unexpectedly quaint little place on busy Fountain Ave in WeHo. With its colorful yet mellow indian/eastern decor and organic drinks (a strong, but fruity iced tea and dandelion coffee-substitute drink), it feels like a little piece of the bay area in the heart of WeHo.
Also many bonus points for having Mighty Leaf tea, Italian sodas, and a comfy bench with Indian pillows...AND being right next to a laundromat that is open from 6AM to 11PM. God bless Hollywood. -

Great cafe on Fountain - close enough to the madness of Hollywood and WeHo but set back enough in an unassuming spot near Fairfax and Fountain to feel a lot less crazy.
Chairs and decor are very unique (Middle Eastern chic), and the teas and baked goods are worth the Hollywood prices given the relaxed ambience (not to mention half priced bakery items after 4!).
Service was spot on - she explained the options well and didn't lead us astray in her picks!
Parking on side streets is fine with a couple minutes walk - careful parking on Fountain though (no go zone 4-7 M-F). -

Practically lived at this place for a while. They're nice and chill and even let my writing partner and I hold our 'interviews' for producers here.
Drinks: I always get tea, hard to screw up hot water, and the tea comes in pre-packaged bags.
Parking, not the best depending on the time of the day, especially after 4pm. They have veggie/vegan food options. Most baristas are cool, a couple can be aloof. -

Santa Monica, CA
Cafe Om is definitely a neighborhood cafe - it's kinda small (but there's never too many people, usually about 3-5 people), kinda quiet (mostly people on laptops), and seems pretty unassuming. But their drinks are great. They have "dandy" coffee drinks which are decaf and made from dandelions. I love their dandy mochas - they taste like my other favorite coffee place in America - Gimme Coffee in Brooklyn.
There's usually only one person ever working there at a time and every worker I've met has been nice.
There's metered parking on Fountain and free parking on Crescent Heights, but it's a little bit of a pain to find/ park. There's also not much in the way of the cafe grabbing your attention from the front as it's not easily distinguishable from the stores next to it. And it is on Fountain and not Sunset or Santa Monica where it would do so much more business.
All in all, great neighborhood cafe. Great espresso and "dandy" drinks. It's just too bad that most likely not many people will know. -

Los Angeles, CA
Cute, simple neighborhood cafe....just sadly not in my neighborhood. I happened to be in the area while shopping at CB2, where they validated my parking for two hours and I had only been there for 30 minutes. Perfect excuse to peruse around! I took out my handydandy Yelp app, checked out my bookmarks, and saw that Cafe Om was just a few blocks away. Tres cool.
I walked in and was surprised with how small it was. There were quite a few patrons camped out, with only that awkward table in the middle of the room available, so I made a quick decision to take my drink to go.
Upon another yelper's suggestion (plus the Indian vibe) I ordered a Masala Chai latte from the not-unpleasant-but-not-smiling barista, who then asked what kind of milk I wanted. I really need a tattoo on my hand that says, "CHAI TASTES BETTER WITH MORE MILK FAT!" I mean, everything tastes better with more fat, but chai spices get watered down in skim milk to the point where it's just not worth it. BUT whenever anyone asks what milk I want, without fail, my mouth says, "Non-fat" without conversing with my better senses. I knew he was more interested in whether I wanted cow, soy, almond, or rice (love that they have so many options), but the damage had been done.
But, miracle of miracles, this was still one of the top Masala Chai lattes I have ever had the pleasure of sipping, even without the necessary milk fat. It was soft but tickled my mouth and opened my sinuses, lending itself to a very zen experience. I want more!!! Sadly, it's just not convenient for me to become a regular, but I'll make it a point to swing by if I happen to be in the area.Listed in: Any Time is Tea Time

West Hollywood, CA
Their matcha has no caffeine, and the barista tried to convince me that matcha is always a decaf green tea. When I replied that matcha contains 20 mg's of caffeine per teaspoon (which I've learned by purchasing those outrageous containers of it many times at Whole Foods), the barista changed his story to the tune that *their* matcha has none. And thus, I understood why ordering a matcha latte there never did a damn thing to me.
Drinks are a solid, "eh, whatever." But they sell Dandy Blend, and for less than anywhere else I've found, so whenever my big bag runs low, I head over. Also, it's walking distance, which Urth is sadly not, so we sometimes go on weekends for tea or coffee drinks. Drinks range from. "Wow, this is great!" to "Omg, this is so gross I don't think I can drink it." You just never know which it'll be, and even the same drinks taste different from visit to visit. -

Say it with me...ommmmmmmmmmm.
I didn't understand how to pronounce the name of this amazingly zennih coffee shop, but then I got it once I saw its interior. I pass by it all the time when trying to dodge the traffic on Santa Monica or Sunset, and always shook my finger at it in the "I'm going to try that place one day" way. Well, I finally did it!
I walked here on a fine, sunny day and as I walked through the doors, I was welcomed into this little college common lounge-type cafe. The barista was warm, helpful and just a presh of a person.
I pretty much cozied right up on their couch, which was conducive to sitting crossed legged - with the shoes off! That's how inviting and homey it felt.
I sipped on tea and nibbled on a grilled cheese panini and brownie with some sort of butterscotch frosting. Yum, yum. I stayed there late into the evening and was never bothered or distracted my entire visit. Now, that's something to ommmmm about!Listed in: Caffeine Scene, Themed Bars in LA

OM Cafe and Tea Lounge is a small quaint lounge on Fountain between Fairfax, and Crescent. If you live in the area, then it is a must visit. But then again if you live nearby then you certainly already know all about it.
Don't live next door to it you say? Well then, treat yourself and drop in. The cafe serves yummy tea, and I am sure the coffee is just as good, (I am not a coffee drinker). Assorted pastry goods are available to snack on as well. They have a large cushioned "couch" that is a dream to sit/lounge/spread out on and read or surf the net while enjoying the free wireless. There is always warm and refreshing music playing and the staff is friendly, and to be honest very cute.
Right next door is even a laundry mat, so take a trip and get some clean underwear and caffeine; makes a great combo! Bonus points for being open until 1a.m. even on weeknights... -

This place is freakin' amazing. Yes - it's small. Yes- its hard to find parking, especially during the week; why it took me four months to finally get my butt here.
But the redeeming factors far outweigh the bad.
Factor #1 - staff is friendly, knows what there are doing and is not pretentious
Factor #2 - The place has a "newness" quality about it inside. Not your normal rugged coffee-shop atmosphere.
Factor #3 - Best yet, there is a couch/bench/meditation area, where you can chill out with your caffeine and laptop, or what have you.
Factor #4 - great place to wait while doing laundry next door.Listed in: Going Against The Chain., My Hollywood

The people are down to earth and very informative about the types of tea's and food items they have. I've spent hours and hours at this cafe reading books, working on my computer, socializing with friends. A very peaceful and soothing place, please do not change!!
90-120 minutes of complimentary wi-fi internet when you purchase something. Also, make sure to give them your last name and every 10th drink is free, huge perks!!

My beef with Om Cafe is based more on principle than the coffee and pastries they serve. Om is nothing more than a trend-- they pass themselves off as a healthy and conscious coffee shop, yet all of their drinks are made with those Costco sized buckets of syrup.
Indeed it is an intimate space, and the decor is nice, but being in there puts me in a bad mood. Too many aspiring Yogis, and every experience I've had has been full of the attitude that I hope to avoid in an independent coffee shop. Very disappointing. -

Cool,Comfy , cosy , very relaxed atmosphere . Free wifi . For all the people bitching out here....damn...you guys must be really spoiled.
Yes the parking is a bitch but i ride a motorcycle so i have no problems finding one.
The music here is always jamming....keeps you up .The staff is friendly and knows what they are doing. Eugene is a funny guy.....hooks me up with extra cream without asking.
Prices are reasonable and worth it for the amount of time you can spend in there surfing the web for free. Lot of cheapskates out here though.
Like the Indian vibe here.....too bad we don't get samosas or vadas or i'd be there everyday.
Got to know the owner too recently and he's a cool dude.
Coffee selection is as good as anywhere else. If you're a health nut....stay at home and make your own . -

Thx to Kevin F., I tried Om out today for my Sunday paper ritual. It's miniscule, but cozy with decent lattes (haven't tried the loose leaf teas yet but look forward to it) and friendly staff. The wall couch certainly looks inviting, but I don't think I'm ready to make that leap yet. They do have wifi, but can't remember if it was free or not (didn't have my laptop with me...SORRY!!! I know that's probably the most important piece of info).
It's open until 1 AM too so a great place to get some work done for night owls such as myself. But the space is small, so I don't know how crowded it gets, but if it was like this afternoon, it was perfect. I found easy parking on Fountain. The surrounding streets are permit though.
They sell pastries and cakes from Sweet Lady Jane's and a scattered small assortment of Meditarrenean snacks (hummus, tabouli, etc). I suppose you can never really go wrong with a treat from SLJ. The bagels looked like they might have been from a package you buy out of a freezer at CostCo...they may need to work on that (psst....get your bagels from the Bagel Broker!).
Looks like I've added one more place to my coffee/tea place arsenal. -

Deal: 50% off drinks after 4pm (but you gotta hunt a bit for parking)
This place makes me so freakin happy. I may be biased, I am Indian afterall. It is definately tucked in a small shop, with a reasonable variety of snacks. But that isn't where the magic is at. I would say the magic is rather subtle; it sneaks up on you and covers you like a warm blanket.
I am also drawn to the authenticity of the place. The decor is real Indian decor, by a real Indian, however, it is not up in your face. The staff there are all really nice as well.
This coffee shop is definately on the quiet tip, I usually go there to read or study, as do most of the people there. There are a fair share surfing the internet, as they have free internet connection. But my most favorite thing is that virtually no one talks on their cell phones there. There is no rule or sign, it is just understood at this particular coffee shop. The sense of calm that brings coupled with the cozy ambiance makes it worth, the sometimes difficult parking. -

Based on my experience this afternoon, Om is a solid place to come and write, which is my main reason for giving it four stars.
Their two-hours of free internet with a purchase of a drink took a little explaining for my slow head, though I figure it's good for them in that they don't have people mooching off their internet and not actually patronizing the place. The help behind the counter was cute and nice but in a "I'm trying to be funny yet failing" kind of way.
My green tea latte was SO MUCH better than one they'll make you at Starbucks, what with that lump of undisovled green tea powder at the bottom of the cup--gag! Om's was silky-smooth all the way to the end. Kudos there. My favorite aspect though was the music: mainly dance music, a little reggae thrown in, that way played at just the right volume that I could zone out and concentrate on my work. For the most part, the other patrons were library-quiet.
I don't know if the atmosphere at Om is always so conducive to that kind of focus, but I'm willing to give it another go. Also, I found free, unlimited parking somewhere nearby, but you'll have to pry that secret from my cold, caffeine-loving hands. -

Los Angeles, CA
Aside from the extremely uncomfortable furniture, Om is a great place to work, surf the internet, socialize, and wait to do your laundry, since there is a laundromat right next door.
A lot of regulars, including myself make the place very interesting. Everyone is very nice, open to conversation, and very down to earth. Coffee is the same as anywhere else, except at a better price.
All of the staff is excellent and very personable. They definitely deserve way more in tips.
Don't go for the food, although they do provide prepackaged, hummous, tabouli, and a few vegetarian/vegan options. None are great, but provide quick bites if you're working. The pastries are delivered fresh daily, but I have no idea what they taste like.
Parking is terrible, but once you find one, it's worth it. It's a great spot to read, talk, or just drink coffee out of the sun. -

Favorite writing spot in Hollywood. Quiet. Not pretentious at all. People easily share tables, the manager feels like a friend, the music is good, they offer something called Dandy Lattes which are an AMAZING alternative to coffee if you can't caffeinate midday (like me). They also serve great Vegan lunches (pre-made). I haven't tried their pastries yet...

It is not my fault you are a struggling actor/writer/producer.
No one forced you to abandon your career and pursue the arts. Besides from the free wi-fi, this place is an absurd waste of time. The staff that "works" here should all be fired. The "owner" should look into a managerial position at the laundr-o-mat next door, or maybe you could help out the shoe-maker on the weekends.
I went in here for an ICED TEA. The nitwit just couldn't figure it out. He offered me every flavor under the sun. I explained that I just wanted a regular old fashioned iced tea. 15 minutes later I inquired as to the whereabouts of my iced tea. "Oh, you want it now?"
Thankfully I am a peaceful person. Were I not, I would have rewarded his passive-agressiveness with a special treat. He as well as the ditzy-actress type "working" there were both clearly high.
Again, let me remind you, it is no one's fault but your own that you are pursuing a career in the arts in one of the most ruthless towns on planet earth.
Don't plan on spending any money here unless you enjoy overpaying for horrific food. And the furniture is only good if you enjoy sitting on poorly desinged chairs that were built for people apparently with rickets. -

Los Angeles, CA
I've been here several times before, but the experiences have been inconsistent. And the most recent visit to Cafe Om was a bit awkward. I paid for my drink but wasn't given change. I didn't say anything cause I wasn't planning on keeping the 15 cents anyway, but it was weird that the guy assumed that and didn't offer me my change back.
Was looking forward to sitting down and getting some work done. But it there was a girl sitting there who, without even looking at, gave off a very pissed-off vibe, slamming on her laptop keys and huffing anytime someone spoke. Wasn't getting the whole "Om" divinity feel in the place especially with that vibe, but also felt bad for her because she looked like she wasn't having a good day at all.
Then some really loud electro house music started playing (with some uncomfortable sexual lyrics). Pissed-off girl closed her laptop and left, and I wanted to follow. But I walked all the way here to get some work done, so I did a little and ended up going back home soon after.
*Sigh* Yet to find a favorite local cafe in walking distance. But for now I think it's Coffee Commissary for me. -

Los Angeles, CA
I was introduced to Cafe Om by a friend and was so glad to have found something close that had coffee and food. I live a couple streets away and there's no where else to get coffee in this immediate area. I could always walk to Starbucks on SMB and pay for something that I'm going to have to carry home, due to their lack of space and seatin; where as at this cafe, I've never not been able to find a seat or share one of the large tables with another person. Cafe Om is just a relaxed atmosphere, with baristas who are both friendly and inviting. They have a pleuthora of teasto choose from that can be made hot or iced, and the menu has a decent selection. I have spent many a weekends doing work for almost the entire day in here, so it's perfect if you're in the area, want to relax with some coffee and do what you do. The cafe changed ownership not too long ago, and the current owners are doing a great job of slowly trying to make subtle changes throughout, which has created a different sort of aura that radiates from Cafe Om. I have nothing bad to say about this place and I embrace having a cafe so close to my house that I enjoy going to!

West Hollywood, CA
Om stands out as an cool, calm oasis amidst a landscape of over-crowded, over-priced cookie cutter shops.
Sure, space is limited, but you'll have better luck finding seats here than Coffee Bean or Starbucks. Moreover, the staff is courteous and helpful.
If you're a writer or student, the vibe here is perfect. The music is never too loud or too obtrusive, and the people-watching is fun, thanks to the adjacent laundromat.
Picks:
- the snack selection includes something for everyone, even vegans.
- free internet
- reduced prices on baked goods after 4pm
- close to a coin-op laundromat
Pans:
- the furniture is not overly comfortable
- limited seating -

Los Angeles, CA
The location is great (I live two blocks away) but unless I'm able to nab one of only two decent sized tables, I don't like to write here. I wish they'd trade in the cushion/bench doodad and tiny tables for more full-sized furniture. The hot-tea and iced tea (my drink of choice) are good; the baked goods, only so-so. I like that the staff lacks LA attitude; but they're also pretty slow behind the counter. The free Wi-Fi is great and the eye candy coming in and walking by is a nice distraction. Bottom line -- if it weren't so close, I probably wouldn't go here -- but in the neighborhood, it's a good mom-and-pop choice.
