Okay, I kind of fell upon this restaurant when I was in New York this past summer with my daughter.  We were starving, and planned on eating breakfast there, but ended up getting an awesome salad with beets and goat cheese and the chicken couscous.  I LOVED IT!!

I went back to Boston, raving about the food in this place, and kept talking about it, wishing it was in Boston!  Anyway, was back in NYC for Thanksgiving weekend, and planned on going back there when I knew I'd be in New York for the weekend.  I took a bunch of people, and was very pleasantly surprised at how packed it was in the middle of a Saturday afternoon, which told me I'm not the only one who adores this place.  I think we actually got the last table.

So of course, I got the chicken couscous, but got to taste the lamb tagine that one of my friends got -- un-f-ing-believable!!  My BF got a steak sandwich, which he said was amazing.  The cucumber yogurt we got as an appetizer with sooooo yummy!   The creme brulee we got for dessert was perfect.  And the coffee was perfect -- hot and strong -- just the way I like it!

The waiters are really cute and friendly, and I got to practice my French with our cute French waiter :)

What can I say -- definitely my all-around favorite restaurant!!

This was compared to Marakesh Restaurant down in Philadelphia.

We popped in early at about 8p on a Saturday night, seated immediately by the door in front of the coat rack... it's a chilly spot, so be reseated if you're not willing to handle the cold air. I suggest the bar if you're waiting, otherwise you're just on the stairs.

The space is dark. Probably didn't want to know why my table was sticky, I guess.

Starter of the mixed plate with tabouli (onions, tomatoes, cucumber in a vinegar-y sauce), babaganoush (mushed eggplant w garlic), hummus, and a salad (watercress?). A tasty start, though only three pieces of fat pita for the table to split to clean up the plate.  They then cleared off the old plates and we waited for a bit for our main courses...

The chicken in phyllo dough - much better in Philly. Chicken here wasn't moist, and though hot, was more about the flaky and not enough savory. Not great for $15.

The couscous was a mix of lamb (on the bone) and merguez (spicy handmade sausage). The lamb delicious, the merguez spicier than I thought it would be, but overall not a bad dish.

The lamb tangine with apricot and prune sauce was the best. Same lamb from the couscous, on the bone, but almost falling off and definitely savory, just enough sauce to satisfy, with a salad and rice to the side.  Tasty, sweet and savory simultaneously. Best dish of the night.

Free side of steamed vegetables to go with the meal.

Overall, not bad. But not spectacular, either. Service was spotty, and the waitstaff was not helpful - every time we asked what was good, they simply said "everything".

Stairs down into the restaurant, so if you're in a wheelchair, you may be out of luck. Overall, experience was okay, and probably better than driving all the way to Philadelphia, but this is not a replacement for Marakesh.

Food was definitely flavorful, drinks were tasty and strong  -  a bit pricier than I had thought this place would be but a good choice if you're in the area and in the mood for almost-home-cookin' Moroccan food.

The lamb soup was delicious as well as the freshly made hummus.

Lamb chops were the special of the day and also well done.

So let's have a chat about beets.

My sister and I came here (on a whim, Yelp has entered the recesses of my thinking process) on Halloween evening while it was temperate and non-toilet-papered outside. But back to the beets. They're pretty unpretentious, but you can't ignore the benefits: they help fight cancer, heart disease, in all its fiber-y goodness. So it was a pleasant surprise ("oh, beets!") when it was found in the Avocado salad. In all my years of eating salads in NYC, I've yet to come across beets. I like my 10-dollar salad to fight cancer, thank you very much.

Let's move onto the next item of the evening: balls. As in, falafel balls. Now, I've sampled a fair share of falafel balls in Manhattan, and maybe even in Brooklyn. You may ask, how can you differentiate from deep-fried/baked ground-up chick peas? Well, that's a stupid question. Mogador's falafel plate was fresh, and the perfect ratio of indulgence and health: healthy but not incomplete with regards to satisfaction.

I'd give Cafe Mogador my seal of approval for decor, the FOOD, the service, and general atmosphere if I weren't too preoccupied with stuffing my face.

The restaurant is always crowded but waiting 15 min to the bar is the good solution. Then, when you get a table and when you see the menu, your tongue salivates .... The meat is just great and the couscous or tajine are spicy, just how it does. The landlord is french and very kind also ;-)
Don't hesitate, go there !

We waited at the bar before we were seated. The barkeep was generous with his pours, and even offered us a glass of grappa on the house.

Once seated, we shared the mixed platter, which I highly recommend - hummus, babaganoush, and tabouli with good pita bread. The lamb couscous was good, and my guest was pleased with his greek salad.

All in all, a really nice experience.

Great food! Went for brunch, which I was perplexed about at first. How does one mix hummus and scrambled eggs? Well all I can tell you is that you do mix them and they're delicious. espresso drinks were well made also and prices all around were so reasonable. It's not one of those places where you pay a little and thus get a little food, no you get food and it fills you.

Only comment, staff was snarky. Our waitress even made rude comments under her breathe. I don't really care about servers anyway but she was so obvious I had to comment.

I had high expectations considering how many good reviews this place got.  We came on a Thursday evening and the place was super packed.  I felt like my bf and I were a part of the group right next to us.  The couscous was nothing special, I don't know why people rave about it. It was just plain old couscous.  It tasted just like the couscous I make at home in two minutes. I like mine with something added to it, I don't know - herbs perhaps.  The veggie tagine was alright.  Their ginger and tomato soup was kinda tasty, but it was a small portion for the amount it cost. I got some alcoholic fruity drink with ginger, which came in a tiny glass and cost 12 bucks.

It wasn't bad, but I wasn't impressed.  Doubt I'll be back.  There are tons of other places in the area to eat.

Went to Mogador on a trip to NYC last week, and it felt as though they've fallen off ever so slightly, and I'm still giving them 4 stars.

I told the dudes I was with -- who happen to being visiting from Iran-- that Mogador is where I'd have my last breakfast on earth if I had a choice. They appreciated that.

Moroccan Benedict and some of all that homemade hot sauce. That's how I'm going out.

I've attempted to go to Cafe Mogador on a Friday three times before actually being able to get a table with a reasonable amount wait. I'm not sure if they take reservations but if they do, they sure don't answer the phone. After our party of five (http://images.starpuls...) waited out the hour at Bua, we were finally seated at the worst table in the restaurant - right near the door. We wore our jackets the entire meal as people entered and exited the restaurant. But - this stuff happens so I'm not gonna fault them. Our server had a good sense of humor though we really had to shout our orders it was so loud in the restaurant. The menu was filled with tasty option but being the weirdo I am, I went with two appetizers: Unfortunately they were all out of the two I wanted but I ordered the goat cheese tart and stuffed calamari instead and was pleased with both. Everything I tasted was great - except for one dish that my friend ordered. I think it was a sausage tagine but really...when it came out it looked like dog poop. Not kidding, see my photo. I get that sausage looks like this, but why wouldn't you cut it up or something so it looks a little less...fecal.

I'm definitely going to go back and give it another try since it seemed like it must have been a bit of an off night for them. All in all though, A-OK sounds about right!

When I lived in the east village Cafe Mogador introduced me to apricot lamb tagine and filled me up with libations many nights. I'd heard they had hearty breakfasts on par with the dinner quality. So, when I needed a good breakfast post redeye from Seattle, I went to this delightful moroccan restaurant.

Mmmm. I got strong coffee and halumi eggs for about 10 bucks.  The entree was a crisp side salad next to two perfectly poached eggs on roast tomato slices with crispy halumi cheese. Halumi is a spiritual experience and Mogador's halumi cheese was fresh and perfectly cooked. And they serve pita slices to wipe your plate clean post-meal.

Just love.

Girls night- a planned out get together when several girls take time out of their busy schedules meet up and to 1) gab about their work life, home life and dating/nonexistent dating life, 2) eat an insane amount of food with no sense of regret or guilt and justifying their unusually large appetite by telling themselves that it's girls night and 3) make sure that dessert(s) are involved, otherwise girls night would be an utter failure.

Café Mogador was the perfect place to host a girls night session and most of the food lived up to the hype. The unpretentious décor and dim lighting made this a very cozy restaurant for all of us. If you don't come here to eat, at least come for the Happy Hour special, which consists of two free tapas with any drink order till 7pm from Mondays to Thursdays. The bartender was very friendly and muddled the blueberries in my blueberry mojito quite perfectly. I got the roasted beets with a yogurt dill sauce and provincial potatoes that were tossed in a light shallot vinaigrette.

Service wasn't amazing during the dining service, but it was forgivable. The hostess, who was also our server for the evening was running around most of the time trying to do two jobs at once. Also, the food took forever, but it was definitely worth waiting for.

The Lamb Tangine with the potato turnip saffron sauce was fabulous. The meat was soft and the sauce went perfectly with the fluffy couscous as the warm grains soaked in all of the lovely sauce. The spicy red harissa sauce on the side was delicious too. I tried a few bites of my friend's Chicken Tangine with the lemon and olive sauce and the chicken was so succulent. Make sure to order either one.

We also ordered the Bastilla- a round puffy phyllo pastry filled with chicken, almonds, herbs and spices to share. The sweet cinnamon flavor definitely overpowered the other savory fillings making this the only dish we weren't crazy about.

Each person spent less than $35 each even with a drink and an entrée, making this one of our most inexpensive girl nights. After many laughs and many belt notches undone, we moved the second sweet part of the night to another place. No offense to Café Mogador; we just have a huge crush on David Chang and we needed a second wind. Oh yea, this place not only works for girls night, but for date night too.*

*Meaning, date nights at your local Irish pub watching the Giants game doesn't count.

I lived above this amazing spot for 7 years.  I have easily eaten 100 meals here.  There are somethings on the menu that are so-so, but most everything is delicious.  The ambiance is fantastic, the waiters are friendly and cute.  My dinner recommendations:
1) Get the $22 cote du rhone.  It's a great deal
2) For the carnivores: Lamb Tagine with cous-cous (i like the charmoula)
3) Tomato ginger soup. yum!
4) fish tagine.  always spicy and delicious
5) For the veggies: they make the best houmous and fallafel.
6) save room for dessert and mint tea and turkish coffee!

For brunch get the middle eastern eggs or the halumi cheese eggs.

Brunch-time waits can be brutal. I've bailed as many times as I've stuck it out. But the food is very good and the atmosphere ripe. Outside patio offers St Marks fun and the inside--along with beautiful people--offers a hip and quaint European (more than Mediterranean) vibe.

Until a bit ago I'd not been here for dinner. It is a completely different--and better--experience. I came with my two brothers and we were hungry. We essentially ordered half the menu and shared it family-style (duh). My favorites of what we ordered: hummus platter, chicken tangine charmoulla, and the baklava with ice cream. Mmmm....

I've heard how cheap this place is. Perhaps for the address. But it's certainly worth every penny. I'll be adding this to my list of date spots.

I came here for the first time awhile ago unaware of all the hype - I didn't know that many fellow reviewers would gladly accept a meal at Mogador as their last on earth.   So there were no expectations for my brunch to live up to, but I think it could have handled almost any.  I had a craving for pancakes and was pleasantly surprised that they would be well received even in Northern New England.  And well done for serving them with real maple syrup (and not making me ask for it).  My brunch date had the eggs benedict, which was done very well (and a bit spicy).  Turkish coffee was very good and the cider with brandy was great with the pancakes.  Overall - great experience and I have since come back many times for brunch and dinner.

When you ask your server what is good and they respond "Everything," they're not just being difficult.  Everything from the eggs to the burger (awesome) to the bastilla (if you're there for dinner - try this) is great at Mogador.  Cocktails are pretty good too and a good way to pass the time at the bar while waiting for a table.
The place is always packed with a good looking crowd.  Service is good.  My only complaint is that once you finally get a seat, it's often on top of those sitting at the table next to you.  They really do pack people in here, but I guess that's what you get with so many five star reviews on Yelp.  But I'm not going to help the situation - 4.5 stars and rounding up.

The food is fantastic, the staff very friendly and overall atmosphere very festive.  Had a bit of a wait for dinner but it was under the 30 minutes the hostess told us and we passed the time with great wine at the bar.  Everything we ordered was delicious - the sea bass, the steak, the hummus and one I can't remember but it was great (sheep's milk cheese grilled).  The only downside was our table was by the front and as it got more crowded, people waiting at the bar for a table were hovering over us and talking.  Definitely ask for a table away from the bar if possible.

Four years later in the city I finally make it to Cafe Mogador for their Sunday brunch. Naturally, I picked the most "Moroccan" thing on the menu - Moroccan Benedict it was!

$13 gets you an entree, freshly squeezed oj, and a cappucino. Everything was perfect about it. First of all, the oj was delicious. Can't remember the last time I had fresh squeezed oj, but I felt like a kid again. My benedict was perfection. Perfectly spicy, a twist on egg's benedict. Special green sauce. Perfectly seasoned potatoes.

Thank you Cafe Mogador for a perfect Sunday brunch! Glad I got to enjoy the last of beautiful summer weather outside.

Went here for brunch on a Saturday with a friend. The food was tasty for sure. Most brunch specials were some form of poached egg which I don't care for, so I ordered an omelet with two items and it was $10. It was good for sure, but for brunch, I've had cheaper and tastier.  The blood orange mimosas were tasty! BUT, they were the tiniest glasses I've ever seen. Full champagne glasses guys, don't give me the kiddie size. Please. Plus they were not included, so that was annoying. Coffee (cappuccino or espresso) again was not included. A really expensive brunch unnecessarily.

We arrived at around 12:30 and absolutely no wait, so that was good!

Good food and good service though. I will try to go back for the hummus and more of the Moroccan fare.

I think this is one of my favorites when we're in NYC for the weekend, particularly after a long night of drinking.

Most of the time they just tell you to sit where ever, or if they're busy they'll seat you. There's no bad seats, but I like the terrace. And any of the variations of eggs benedict are spectacular.

Our Argentinean intern put me on to this place.

The lamb apricot and prunes tagine is fantastic and while I have only had the pleasure of patronizing Mogador a few times, I have never waivered from ordering the same dish! There's nothing quite like it.

My visits have tended to be timed during the middle of the day, and I have found that the atmosphere at this time mirrors the general St Marks Place 'mood' of being diverse, yet welcoming and busy, yet casual and relaxed.

My vegetable tagine was great, though a little pricey. Two bottles of wine and three entrees ended up being around $200 with tip -- a little over my budget. The service was great. Our waiter constantly refilled our wine glasses and didn't moan when we lingered after dinner.

Unfortunately the restaurant was so packed with tables I could barely remove my coat and pull out my chair. Minus one point for that, otherwise I'm pretty pleased with the Cafe and plan on patronizing them again.

We came for the cocktails, stayed for dinner, and left with plans to return!

While waiting for a table, we scored four seats at the bar and started in on the specialty menu. High marks for all drinks! The pistachio martini was creamy, filling, and well-balanced. The ginger martini was a bit spicy and an excellent starter/appetizer. The blood orange martini was perfectly tart-orange. Later ventures included the lychee martini and the blueberry mojito. All drinks are chilled and made with FRESH ingredients. Imagine the bartender crushing the blueberries right before he plunks them into your glass. It was the drinking woman's equivalent to picking your own lobster. At $9.00 each, the martinis were well-priced for the NY scene. The bartender referenced a happy hour until 7 and after 11 that will dictate the timing for our next venture.

This is a restaurant, so I should probably discuss the food. Again, great quality, great presentation, great value. Two of us ordered the Merguez--I had a platter with hummus and salad. My friend had the cous cous. We argued over who had it better! The sausage was made on premises and the seasoning tasted like a mix of cinnamon and cumin--smoky and sweet and just delicious. You must, must try it! The cous cous was studded with savory ingredients--raisins, chickpeas, and other goodies. The hummus was lightly seasoned, the salad fresh, and event the pita was steamed to complement the meal.

The other two party members had a salmon special. Grilled and seasoned lightly, the flavor of the meat showed the quality of the source. The accompanying cous cous and asparagus were also perfectly prepared.

Of note, the lights were out in half of the restaurant which led to a very "romantic" setting for our girls' night out. This seemed to slow the kitchen, but the bar and friendly service more than made up for the many, many candles that we used to read our menu.

Quality ingredients, skilled preparation, friendly service, great value. This place has it all!

I was expecting better after all the 4 star + reviews I had seen on here!  Maybe my expectations were too high?

I will say, the cous cous and the turkish coffee were excellent, if I had just had those, I would give it a 4 star.  The cous cous was light, airy, fluffy and buttery, quite good side dish.  The turkish coffee was strong, but they mixed in cardamon and sugar, so it was really great - possibly the best I've had so far.

I ordered the lamb tagine, my friend ordered the halibut special of the day.  With my lamb tagine, I ordered the apricot and fig sauce.  I wasn't overly impressed with my lamb.  It was falling off the bone like it should be, but it didn't taste all that fresh.  My friend's halibut was pretty good.

Dessert was kind of a disappointment :(.  Ordered the spice cake with cinnamon ice cream.  2.5 stars for that.

I probably wouldn't go back here again - I wasn't all that impressed with it.

My friend and I were trying to find a place to catch up and came here on a warm and rainy night. We'd ordered a bottle of wine, the gazbacho, a chicken puff pastry dish  and the octopus salad and proceeded to chat, before you know it all the plate were empty and the wine was gone.

The gazbacho was good, but it lacked a little flavor, I like my cold foods to be really complex. The octopus salad was a little overcooked, but not chewy, but it wasnt oily which is what I hate, but i love octopus so it stood out the most out of any of the dishes. The chicken puff pastry (whatever its really called) was okay, but you shouldnt share it because its difficult and messy.

Over all it was a great meal but it was probably because I hadn't seen my friend in a while and we were too busy catching up then paying attention to the food.

I first ate breakfast there with two friends visiting from out-of-town, on a Monday in late October.  Their breakfast special consisted of two eggs, toast, home fries, fresh OJ, and either cappucino, espresso or tea - for only $7!  The interior was really charming, our server was personable and the food was very good.  It's also a nice place to linger (which I later discovered only applies to daytime hours).

I returned - with my husband and two friends visiting from Germany - on a weeknight in early June.  Although we were able to get a table right away, it was very crowded and noisy (even around 7:00 p.m.).  Our server was pushy (she attempted more than once to get us to order additional/more expensive items) and she kept neglecting to bring us water (I finally had to flag down someone else), but the food was *excellent* (I had the vegetarian cous-cous).

I would have liked to give 4.5 stars because of our second server, but I feel too positive to just give 4 stars.

Really love this place - variety of choices for everyone from staples to inventive dishes.
Tucked away on a quiet portion of 8th Street in East Village, the restaurant is full of ambiance, charm and comfort.
Daily specials are worth having, as well as their specialty cocktails.  I dined on a Friday night and had seats at the bar, where the bartender was friendly, offered suggestions and had a nice view of the whole restaurant.

I've had dinner here a couple times and I always left with a happy and full stomach. While most of the dishes on the menu are good in general, I would recommend the housemade daily soup and the bastilla. I liked the soup because it was a nice comfort food with a delicious broth. The bastilla was as it was described on the menu: flaky crust, chicken and almonds seasoned with herbs and spices. It may not look like much but it's filling and compact.

The wait staff were so friendly and attentive, I didn't even realize that the waitress refilled my water while I was talking. That was during a lively dinner rush from around 7 to 8. When it gets to be a little late, they'll be more relaxed and likely to give you more time to took at the menu, chat, etc. I was also pleased to see a lot of choices for drinks (nonalcoholic) from turkish coffee to juice, moroccan tea, and steamed milk. Overall, it was a fun experience and I would go back if I'm in the area and craving soup/grilled meats/flaky bread. *drool*

I was surprised at how cute (and crowded!) this place was. Went there late on a Friday and it was packed, but pleasantly and vibrantly so.

We shared the gazpacho soup and the octopus appetizers. OMG-- both were completely delicious. I'd never had gazpacho soup before, but would definitely get it again. Am a huge fan of octopus and this appetizer made me want to lift the plate to my lips and shovel the octopi into my mouth.

For entrees I had the salmon with couscous and fresh asparagus and he had the chicken. The salmon was OK.... kind of bland, but better with a bit of fresh squeezed lemon. I'd try something else next time. He enjoyed his chicken.

We shared the strawberry crumble dessert which. was. FABULOUS. I wasn't a fan of any of the other desserts (mostly cakes and puddings; blech) -- And generally am not a fan of strawberrry desserts-- but OMG, this warm strawberry crumble concoction with vanilla ice cream was brilliant.

Overall a very nice evening and great meal. Service also warm and friendly. ....I'll be back!

Food was decent. I got the chicken cous cous which wasn't as flavorful as it should have been. I had the same dish but WAYYY better at Nomad on 2nd ave a few weeks ago...definitely give it a try!

The waitress was beyond awful. She was the rudest waitress I've ever encountered. She was unhelpful and condescending, treating us as if we were idiots for not knowing the ins and outs of Moroccan food. We purposely gave her a 14% tip and she proceeded to storm over to our table afterward returning our bill and said, "Because you're young, let me teach you a lesson. In NY the standard tip is 18-20% so you better add some this tip." UNBELIEVABLE!

Came here for dinner on a Monday; I arrived at about 7:15, and the place was nearly full by 8.

I was greeted by a man who seated me and handed me a menu, but then I did wait a while before he asked me if I wanted to order. He did helpfully and patiently explain what harissa, harira, and matbucha were.

I went for the olives and pickles appetizer and the vegetarian couscous entree. The olives and pickles were yummy, and the pita supplied by the waitress was welcome if a bit underdone, it seemed to me.

The couscous could have used a few more vegetables; it was primarily chickpeas and carrots, with an interesting addition of raisins. I would have liked to see some cauliflower and maybe broccoli in there. Still, it was delish, and I cleaned the plate. I didn't have room for dessert.

Noise wasn't overwhelming, despite the full rooms, and the light was bright enough to read in, a salient point for me, as I often dine alone. I never felt hurried, and the various buspersons and waitresses were always handy with a water refill or a request for another beverage.

I also liked the unisex sink outside the restrooms, which I saw often in Paris. This is a great idea, because if all you want to do is wash your hands, you don't have to wait for a bathroom to be vacated.

I have to say, the tab was a bit pricey, but only because of the charges for beverages. They really add up. (The house-made Moroccan mint iced tea is really good but way overpriced at $4, not $3.50, as the online menu says. Maybe if the volume of the glass were doubled, I wouldn't object to the price.) And the Diet Cokes are those 8-ounce mini bottles for which the resto charges $3. That's Disney World territory right there. But if you drank just water, you would think the meal was priced appropriately.

I'm interested to go back and try the matbucha; the harissa spread that came with the couscous was fiery and challenging! In fact, I wonder if I might go back tonight, as my stomach is a-growlin'!

Maybe you've heard of the hit single, "Manic Monday," by The Bangles? In it, the girls croon for Sunday, because that's their "funday." While I certainly won't argue with that logic, Monday is slowly becoming my own Funday . . . thanks to elaborate dinners that help me get through the work week.

After sitting down outside to people-watch, our Funday began. Lemme break it down for ya.

DRANKS
Unfortunately, my friend and I can't afford to go all out with drinks appetizers, entrees, and dessert. We were really cravin' dessert, so appetizers had to be cut to make room for drankies. There wasn't one cocktail of theirs I wouldn't order. I was torn between the Blueberry Mojito and the Mango Martini, and decided to go with the latter, solely because vodka gives me more a buzz. It was liquid candy.

ENTREES
Ugh. Now you're going to make me choose an entree among all these delectable dishes? If the US really wants to get into the whole torture scene, take note. Do I want the steak? The ravioli? The cous-cous? The stew? I went with the butternut ravioli in the end because it sounded so good. It mos' def delivered. At first I was afraid it wasn't going to be enough--the serving looked small!--but it was actually juuust the right amount. Plus, I ate some of my friend's chicken stew and cous-cous because I'm a selfish Fatty McFatterson.

DESSERT
We split an apple dessert that also included apple cinnamon ice cream. I can't remember the full description (or find it online), but it was good. It tasted like Grandma. Not Grandma'S. Like Grandma.

CUTE BONUS ALERT
There was a Pomeranian in a bike basket parked outside for a while. A POMERANIAN PUPPY IN A BASKET. Totally irrelevant to the restaurant, but completely relevant to MY LIFE.

Cafe Mogador was a great dining experience. The place is always packed, just a warning, but with good reasons. Service was great and the drinks were delicious. Mango martini is an absolute must try as it does not disappoint. My friend had the blueberry mojito which also did not disappoint, great cocktail menu all around!

We both had the lamb tangine but I had it with the chickpeas, raisins, and onion sauce and she had hers with the apricot and plum sauce, I believe. So delicious. Prices were reasonable. Perfect evening.

Just do it. Go. Indulge. Eat.

Brilliant Middle Eastern food, one of the best places in the city. Plus, I met my wife here! Sweet :)

The last time I was here, I had the hummus platter with all the trimmings. The hummus was creamy and delicious and the pita was warm and fresh. Then, out of the blue, a lovely & fragrant scent hit my nostrils...falafel! It smelled so good, I had an immediate craving and wanted it in my meal asap. City, state, and federal law was the only thing preventing me from snatching it from our neighbors table!

Pros - Wide array of good Mideastern food, good atmosphere, and I like the way the Dutch waitress says pita (pee-TAH).

Cons - Somewhat pricey, when it's crowded the noise level is intolerable.

Overall, everything is of the highest quality, and so far I've not had a bad experience there. Gotta recommend it to everyone.

Love this place with a passion! Great lunch and dinner, whether it's the falafel, the lamb sandwich, the fries, the Morroccan tea - it's ALL great!

mogador is probably my favourite restaurant in NYC. it's my go-to place for reunions with old friends, dates, nice dinners with my mom, etc. it's basically my default. for everything. ever.

their goat cheese ravioli with butternut squash is my favourite and i order it every time it's on the menu. their falafel platters are great, too, and it's a great deal for about $9 because you get a ton of falafel (and they're perfect and crispy and delicious). i also strongly recommend the cherry tomato and goat cheese tart for an appetizer as well as the seared halumi cheese. fantastic. their moroccan tea is so good (and the teapots are cute, too). the ginger martinis are also really, really good :)

the ambiance of mogador is really nice, and the service is usually pretty good.

I would possibly give this place 3.5 stars if I could, but I can't so I have to go with A-OK.  Sunday around 230PM, Cafe Orlin being completely crowded, my friend and I continued down St Mark's to Cafe Mogador, where we got a table immediately.  Although the wait for outside was 15 minutes and the tables inside are pretty close to one another, we were comfortable and our waitress was very nice.

Ordered the hummus to share; my friend had the eggs florentine, me the eggs normandy.  For $10, the eggs come with OJ and coffee.  One thing to note, and I'm sure that it's just to save time - there were absolutely no substitutions on bread or juice or  even milk (they have no skim).  The food came quickly, the hummus was the best part.  The eggs were tasty enough, nothing exceptional in one direction or another.

We didn't drink with our meal so the brunch special worked for us, but sometimes a girl just wants skim milk!
