Stopped in briefly for a cup of iced mocha on a hot day. The place is really cute inside! They have lots of tables and free wifi. If I lived closer, I would surely opt to hang out here more.
My iced mocha tasted great. Much better than starbucks. They have many different flavors of gelato and mochi ice cream. The way they line up the mochi ice creams make me drool. They also sell macarons and pastries. It's everything you need to satisfy your sweet cravings in one place. -

If Coffee Code is the ideal, stereotypical Korean coffee date as seen in K-dramas, then Cafe Mochilato is where you go with all your friends to enjoy some waffles or mochi (or both!).
My reasoning behind this is because the tables are quite large for a cafe and fit 4+ people, which is quite different from Coffee Code's couple's table.
They serve roughly the same things as Coffee Code plus more. It was a very strange menu for they had the usual Korean cafe foods (shaved ice, coffee, waffles), but also served traditional Korean food too (ddeokbokki, udon?).
I ordered a tirimisu mochi and it came out to $1.50. Quite refreshing and delicious (even though I didn't really detect tirimisu... just deliciousness).
Amy ordered taiyaki, but instead what came out was just a waffle with banana, strawberry, strawberry ice cream and way too much chocolate syrup. Ummm okay? Miscommunication of some sort or a mistake? We weren't really sure, but ate it anyway. A little too sweet for my liking, and we think it was more expensive than Coffee Code's waffles (Mochilato's was $8?).
As for the 3 out of 5, one might be screaming blasphemy because Brian loves Korean cafes (and especially ones that play K-pop!) but the whole ordering of taiyaki but being given a waffle, I thought was disappointing service. Maybe it was a flaw on our behalf of what we thought we were ordering, but I digress. Its good, so I guess I'll do a follow up review if I come back to Cafe Mochilato. I have spoken! -

The bingsu (shaved ice) is decent enough here. It comes in three sizes and even the small size is large enough to share..
Don't know why, but I had a craving for their jjolmyun (spicy cold noodles).
It was blah and the portion was tiny.
My fault. Should have known better than to order food at a dessert joint.
Lots of Korean moms hang out here with their kids so it can get a little loud.
Little overpriced, but clean! -

their mochi ice cream is BOMB! Had the pistachios and it had real pistachios pieces, deliciousness.also had raspberry and peaches&cream.Skip the raspberry it ain't that great but do go for the peaches&cream its so yummy and peachy. Fish pastry(tayaki) is also yummy! comes out fresh and pipping hot,so hot that it melted the plastic knife when my friend was trying to cut it in half.ha
wish there was one near the bay area. -

Nice cute place with a clean, "minimalistic" ambiance. This place serves a variety of mochi with gelato fillings hence the name "mochilato". On top of this, this place serves food, monaka, gelato, and various sweet drinks.
The mochi here aren't special and are not any better than the other mochi I've had but they do offer a variety.
Overall, this is an ok dessert place for me. I would not come here again but if you are a huge mochi fan and would like to try new flavors such as "cream brulee" and "tiramisu" then you should try this place. -

Service here is bad and inconsistent. I order the same thing each time (Japanese style mochilato) and EVERY time they make it different. A couple times I tried to order something new, and either they made the same thing I got before (when I ordered something else) or they tell me they don't make those any more. There are always different people working there AND NONE OF THEM KNOW HOW TO MAKE ANYTHING THERE. Simple easy things to make THEY SCREW UP. I tried one last time tonight to get a japanese style mochilato, along with an Italian style, AND THE GIRL MADE TWO OF THE SAME THINGS. Last time I went in I reminded an old guy making it to put Mochi balls in. He told me Japanese style does not include mocha balls. I read it right off the menu to him and he snared at me and reluctantly put some in. SCREW THIS PLACE. I feel they pick and choose who they are good to and who they aren't. Unfortunately if you are not Korean, your order may get put behind those who are. It's happened to me a couple of times.

I did not try the mochi...just the gelato. It was ok. I have had better gelato. My friend and I practically tried every flavor until we found one that we liked.
The inside was pretty cozy though and looked like a nice place to study or catch up on homework.
I probably won't be back. -

Interior + service + ICE CREAMS are great! So smooth & then there's the mochi rice cake all over... MM!!!
The mochi ice cream flavors I've tried:
Green Tea (win!)
Toasted Almond (WIN WIN WIN WIN WINWINWINWINWINWINWIWNWINWINWINWINWINWINWINWININWN :SDJFKSDJKFJK:JSDJF!!!! :D)
Vanilla (what do you expect?? it was good, but I'd totally get another flavor!)
Creme brulee (MEH. Not a huge fan of creme brulee...)
Yes, I've only been here once, so haven't been able to try much.... but I will DEFINITELY be back for more of their green tea & ALMOND OMNOMNOMNOMNOMNOMNOMNOMNOM~~~~~~~~~ -

Been here twice, so now it's time to write a review!
First of all, I like the atmosphere.
The place is spacious, has both indoor and outdoor seating, tables are huge with chairs that are comfortable, and you can even find bigger tables if you happened to come in a bigger group.
As for the menu, they offer both mochi icecream & gelato as their name promotes it, but I only tried their shaved ice both times.
And although I tried to order something else both times, they ended up recommending the mochilato special shaved ice both times, so I am slightly confused why they won't just let me order what I want...?
The first time I tried the mochilato shaved ice, I didn't like it... I don't like the syrup-y flavor to it, and the ice was just plain ice (yes, I am complaining because I am very harsh when it comes to grading shaved ice). They did put generous amount of fruit & mochi, so that was nice.
The second time we went, we wanted to order the green tea shaved ice with no red beans. So they recommended the mochilato shaved ice and told us that they would only put the green tea syrup & not the other. Turned out, they DID put the other syrip -- whether it be strawberry or cherry, something red -- that ruined it all. I also don't think the texture of galato goes well with shaved ice & 1 scoop definitely isn't a lot to give the shaved ice flavor as they don't put condensed milk.
Pricey shaved ice that doesn't taste good............Hmm...
I should just try their food next time ;) -

Ive been here countless of times and have only been let down once. the mochi here is good, the shaved I've was delicious! Though depending on who was making it, it gets a bit different. I shared a single size with my bf and it was more than enough. I do have to say the green tea latte blended is really good too.
But they are called MOCHILATO for a reason. The mochi there? Awesome~ My favorite is the green tea by far and my bf's is the raspberry. Great thing is you can taste the chewy mochi and it is especially good when they just made it. I've honestly tried all the flavors and I haven't wanted to not finish one!
The service is nice. Mostly girls that work there from what I can tell. They now change the place up depending on the season so the look and atmosphere is always fresh. What confuses me is when you pick up the order (sometimes they walk out and give it to you personally if your sitting) what then? I'm never sure if I should leave the plates on the table to bring it back up...
OVerall.. good place. Just be careful on what you order with food, that's always a hit or miss. But I'll be coming back here again~ -

This Mochi Cafe is very close to my house, but never really have an urge to come by that often.
I've tried their vanilla mochi, it's pretty good but pricey.
DRINKS: Okay they seriously don't know how to make drinks, and tastes completely artificially NASTY. I don't know why they're even selling drinks here...if it tastes like that.
SERVICE: The cashiers are nice, but there is no "service" if you know what I mean. It's pretty much like you order, pay, then you pick up your order. In another sense, you can call it self-serve?
I wouldn't mind stopping by here and there, but I definitely won't be a regular. -
Review from Chau N.
Love the mochi selections. Love the creme brulee, pistachio, mango, and best of all green tea! The mochi was very soft and gooey, and the filling inside very flavorful.
The (Italian Style) shaved ice was ok; if they didn't put a scoop of gelato on top, I don't thik I would order it. Next time, I want to try to Japanese Style (green tea shaved ice) - I do love anything green tea.
The shop is quaint, spacious with plenty of tables and chairs, and not too busy on a friday night. Not much "customer service". More of "Can I get your order already and move on"....
I'm definitely coming back for more mochis! -

This place is called Cafe Mochilato. I repeat. MOCHI-lato.
Of course, I came in here in search of delicious mochi ice cream. The great thing about this place is that it is filled with koreans, and koreans be YUM-MAY :D Aside from the eye-candy, the mochi is indeed delicious!
I'm not sure where it comes from or if it's freshly made every day, but DAMN that stuff is addicting. The soft ice cream covered in the delicate mochi wrapping makes a great snack for a hot summer day.
The best thing about this place is that you can get a 6 pack of different flavors! Unlike the store where you get 6 mochis of the same flavor, you can mix and match here!
I recommend the mango. It had such a mango-y taste that you'll want to let your man go to get your hands on these puppies. ;) Also, the creme brulee was quite weak. I do not recommend :P
Also, since each mochi is like 1.25 or 1.75 (I forgot), prepare to drop some dollars!
TIP: This is in the same plaza as the Barnes and Noble and Target. -

First of all, I LOVE mochi. I love how squishy it is and how amazing it takes even on its own. I had mochi ice cream from costco and trader joes and when I heard there was a place that sells mochi ice cream I HAD to go there.
This place is one of the reasons I get excited to come to so-cal from the bay area. I love the strawberry cream, hazelnut, and vanila.
I would NOT get mint ever again. I will have to go to try out more flavors but the only ones I tried yesterday was strawberry, hazelnut, vanilla, and mint and chip.
The only bad thing about this is that it was $6.50 for 5. You can get the same quality but less flavors at traders joes and costco for about $3 -

This is very interesting. I maybe has mochi once and it wasn't pretty. The first time I ever ate mochi, I stuffed the whole thing in my mouth, let's just say it's an instant brain freeze and lesson learned. I came here maybe two weeks ago with a friend to caught up on old times.
They have many flavors to select from and unique Asian flavors too. I choose the chocolate hazelnut flavor. It was pretty good, and plus I didn't shove the whole thing in my mouth. I thought $1.25 a piece was an okay price, it is gelato.
I may come here again, if I have a gelato-mochi craving but I don't know when that will be. -

Setting is very modern and cute. Clean and sleek appearance.
There are all sorts of dessert available. All the mochis are delightful! There are other options such as shave ice, smoothies, and random noodles "after 2pm", apparently their chef comes in at that time.
This place is predominately Korean (customers, community, owner), so you might feel like you get stared a lot.
Lack of customer service. I waited for a while and made eye contact with the servers. They were busy, but didnt have the courtesy to acknowledge anyone waiting.
Dessert is yummy, but service sucks. -

My friend and I came here for the mochi ice-cream and for a place where we can just sit and chat. We weren't hungry so we each picked a flavor and shared both. We ordered the green tea and hazelnut mochi ice-cream ($1.25 each), and they were both VERY delicious. Although most reviewers feel this is very expensive, I thought it was decent given that you can't buy some of the flavors they offer at the market. The green tea ice cream was very rich and flavorful, you can tell they did not skim on the matcha; most definitely better than the store-bought one. I love love love hazelnut anything, and I haven't had anything close to the hazelnut gelato from Italy, until i had the hazelnut mochi here. Definitely must-try!
I'm curious to try the food and all the other yummy desserts they have, so I'll definitely be back for more! -

$8 for 2 measely scoops of gelato?? Outrageous!
Couldn't understand a word the cashier was saying to me.
And somehow, my tea didn't taste warm and nice. How can anyone go wrong with tea?! -

If you haven't been to Trader Joe's before and had their Mochi Ice Cream, then maybe you would like Mochilato a lot more than I did.
My first initial response to seeing the Mochi lined up was "This is exactly like Trader Joe's" and "there's only one flavor?" I came here with a group of people only to see that they had green tea mochi out and it was 9pm. They close at 10pm. When I finally asked if they had other flavors, the employees replied that the other flavors weren't ready. I was kind of disappointed, but later they brought the other flavors out so I thought, hmm.. maybe this place is better because of their variety of flavors (hazelnut, coconut, raspberry cream, etc.etc.). Many of the choices my sister had made, the employees told her that they weren't frozen enough. How can you have mochi out and not even have it be ready?! We were left with only a few choices to decide from.
I chose green tea (my favorite) and raspberry cream. The green tea, as always, never disappointed. A good balance of the chewy, tapioca texture on the outside, and delicious, but not too sweet green tea ice cream on the inside. I was most excited for the raspberry one and after a bite, I sat there in disgust. Maybe it was the wrong one the workers chose for me, but the texture of the mochi was far from the soft, chewy tapioca it was suppose to be. Instead, it was a dried up, crusty taste that I had to devour to get my money's worth. I did not enjoy eating that mochi at all. All in all, I rather rely on my trusty Trader Joe's store.
Pros: The variety in choices, the spacious seatings/large tables for big parties, the location, the cleanliness, friendly workers, nice for dessert or on a hot day.
Cons: Pricy and their lack of "ready-to-eat" mochi during the time I came. -
Review from Julie H.
Mochilato is great because they aren't just a mochi or gelato parlor. They are also a cafe with yummy teas, coffees, and lattes, but that isn't all. They are also a hot wi-fi zone. And if that isn't enough for you, you can also order fried rice, dduk-bokki, and other savory Korean dishes. Oh! Oh! And they also do crepes and waffles, and AMAZING patbeengsu (Korean shaved ice with everything on it, including the kitchen sink- and my favorite summer treat!).
Sure, this place in a sense, doesn't know what the hell it wants to be. But everything here is tasty and I'm a fan. It's so close to where I live, and when I buy 5 mochis, the 6th one is free! Good thing too, because I hate leaving that 6th spot on a mochi tray empty. Did I also mention you can get a bunch of different cookies, coffees, tea accessories, and pastries to go or buy them as gifts?
Yeah, sometimes the screaming kids and the Korean teenagers hanging outside the store smoking can be a bit annoying- obnoxious even, but come in the middle of the day, Monday through Friday, when all of them are still in school, and enjoy your mochi...or gelato...or dduk-bokki...or patbeengsu... -

Strawberry banana smoothie was good. Mochilatos were good. Japanese style shaved ice sucks.
But they gave us extra fruit on the side bc my sister asked so that's why its a 3. Don't get japanese style shaved ice.

I wish i could give you more stars Mochilato but you were such a disappointment. Boyfriend and i went a little crazy and got 6 different mochi balls.
Coconut- was so yummy.
strawberry- had better from the trader joes
hazelnut- was gross
Creme brûlée- very plain
Pistachio- was ok
and i forgot the last one but it doesn't matter because it wasn't good anyways.
save yourself a trip and head over to trader joes. The coffee and strawberry mochi balls are pretty good and for $4-5 a box, you can't go wrong. -

Cerritos, CA
Overpriced, mediocre food.
I so cannot believe that this place even has the nerves to call their gelatos "gelato". Tini tiny scoop goes for $3, and the regular tiny scoop goes for 4 or 5. For their quality it's definitely not worth the price. It's not chewy and creamy whatsoever like a real gelato instead it's somehow foamy and just breaks off in your mouth like i'm eating stiff unwanted whipped cream from cake that's been in the fridge for a few days..
And the waffles.... I was shocked to find out they use the same mix they use to make taiyaki (boong-uh ppang), of course that's why the waffles get incredibly soggy fast after putting toppings on it like ice cream. I did not pay more than $7 to get the most mediocre waffle ever.
The only reason I give it 2 stars is because I come with my group of ppl altogether to just chitchat and the coffee is actually not that bad. But still, next time I'm gonna talk my group out of going here and go some place else... -

They have some awesome mochilato here. The mochi is so soft and of great quality. It doesn't just break off like most other places. Their mochi is very chewy and gooey and delicious. The gelato inside is very tasty, again, good quality stuff. My favorites are the green tea and mango. Check out my blog for pictures and more information on Mochilato. Pictures too!

I don't know why this place doesn't have better reviews! My husband and I were eating at Sato Sushi and were looking for a dessert place. Cherry on Top was across the way, but I asked him to yelp for something else, and my oh my, am I glad I did!
We ordered the 'japanese style' shaved ice with 2 mochilatos. Not a fan of the shaved ice, but the mochilatos... TO DIE FOR. If you've ever had gelato, you would know that the flavors are much more powerful, much like biting into a fresh, ripened fruit. We got coconut (my favorite) and mango. It was so good that we took home a dozen more-- cookies and cream, pistachio, strawberry, tiramisu, green tea, chocolate chip. You really can't go wrong choosing any flavor. They'll pack it with ice for you. Our drive home was about 15 minutes, popped them right in the freezer, and they were still perfect the next day.
The only downside... they're a little pricey! But def worth a try! -

These are the flavors of mochi i would recommend
Nutella,
Toasted almond
Pistachio
Flavors i would avoid is:
Creme brûlée was not worth it b/c u can't taste it !!
They have a lot of different options and also a dinner menu!!! I am going to come back to try more of there dessert. oooh this one had better customer service than the irvine one :D -

I've tried 6 different flavors (coffee, strawberry, vanilla, hazelnut, tiramisu, pistachio) of mochi and they were all pretty good. My favorite was hazelnut and BF's fav was coffee. Our least fav was tiramisu, which tasted more nutty.
Great place for dessert and coffee after dinner at one of the restaurants in the plaza! -

Mochilatos are amazing. You will be amazed by any flavor you get. Creme brulee is a personal favorite, but the fruity ones like mango are excellent as well. A really fun place for dessert, they even have hot chocolate and stuff. However, I wouldn't get shaved ice. Make the extra mileage down to Class 302 if you want shaved ice.
I thought these were a chain, but apparently the only two I've seen in Orange County ARE the only two ever! -
Review from Rho L.
I had been excited about mochilato ever since I bookmarked it on yelp months ago, but just never made the stop. Lo and behold, there apparently was one in fullerton! After lunching @ summithouse, I figured it was the most opportune moment to drop by.
Mochilato is a cute little cafe-type place that evidently offered more than just mochi and gelato. They offer standard korean and some japanese fare which I am tempted to try next time. They also have a slurry of other desserts which included waffles and shaved ice. Thought that was pretty cool.
Since our summithouse meal was pretty damn heavy (and tasty), I only had room for 3 mochi-gelatos. I tried toasted almond by recommendation of Joe S., creme brulee, chocolate hazelnut, and a nibble of mint chip, oh and on another occasion, coffee. All were decent, but coffee was my favorite. No surprise there... The mint chip was almost toothpaste minty, with barely enough chip to counter it. You buy 5, the 6th one is free, that totals $6 and some change.
I love the concept and definitely see myself comin back to try their other sweet treats. -

I came here twice within two days because I figured the one in Irvine will and probably will sell out like the last time I visited there. I came here looking for the plum wine mochi that I so highly desired, but to no avail.
The bright side is that the Toasted Almond mochilato is amazing! Probably up there with plum wine. They still have the buy 5, get 1 free deal. So good and worth a trip.Listed in: Frozen Yogurt, Yummy Cupcakes,…

don't wanna get a 6 pack of mochi in the same flavor at the market? want to try flavors like coconut, chocolate chip, and pistachio?
well mochilato is the place for you! it's a bit pricy but it's perfect if you want to indulge in just 1 mochi ice cream...or if you want a variety get a 6 pack :D
my favorite is green tea and vanilla mmm...
yea...i think i'm gonna go get one right now :D
PS they do melt fast...so if you're not gonna eat all 6 ask for a bag of ice to take it home...hopefully it won't melt -

came by here just to try a couple items~ the hazelnut and almond? flavor mochi ice cream.
it's kind of fun to see all the different flavors but meh~ it's not anything to go crazy over. it's like they opened different boxes of frozen store mochi but provide a wider variety of flavors. they were a bit hard.. my friend and i were trying to share it and it broke the plastic knife we were using.
they seem to have food, bingsoo/ shaved ice, regular mochi and gelato but nothing that looked too appealing.
the decor is nice and lots of room to sit with friends.
service was meh~ the guy seemed bored/ annoyed to be working there. buddy.. you're inside with ice cream when it was blazing hot on this particular day. little more pep.
it is korean owned. it was alright.
worth a try if you want a sweet frozen bite but nothing to go out of your way for. -

The shaved ice is great, I definitely recommend the Italian styled shaved ice, but the service isn't too great. There's a guy that works there that's always giving me and my friends some attitude. One time, we asked him nicely for some water, and he gave us Styrofoam cups instead of the regular cups. What's stupid is that everyone else in the place had the regular plastic cups ...even the people that came after us. And on TOP of that, he gave us the wrong order!!! That was probably the last time I ordered real food when that guy's around. The ladies that work there are much nicer and very sweet.
Ohh and mochilato's great too. I haven't tried every single flavor yet, but I've tried most of them. -

can i just say, I AM A BELIEVER! I LOVE MOCHILATO! i got the coconut, chocolate hazelnut (which by the way, is one of my favorite gelato flavors!), and green tea mochilatos. i dug in right away (my friend got mango, chocolate chocolate chip, and pistachio); i could've eaten at least 10 more! it is really the perfect blend of chewy and savory and yummy!! my words don't do the mochilatos justice!
we also got a single "mochilato way" shaved ice, which had some chopped up fruit (watermelon, kiwi, mango), red bean, and what seemed to be vanilla gelato? i really liked how the shaved ice was layered and had more red bean/watermelon/gelato deep inside that bowl of green tea shaved ice! definitely not like those other shaved ice places which only have shaved ice underneath the pile of red bean, fruit, etc.
i actually found it a little hard to find, only b/c that plaza is designed so weird. the places are all scattered with little connection. i want to go back next time to eat some food food and try all their mochilatos!!!! -

I went to Mochilato when they were about to close so a lot of their mochis were sold out... =(
i got their coffee and tiramisu mochilato... i have to say it was pretty good! i wish i tried some of their other flavors! :) i've never had flavored mochi before... so it was quite a pleasant experience!
i got their flavored tropical green tea (hot) and it was good!
