I have been visiting this Cafe since it opened over 20 years ago. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, the food is amazing, they make a really good hotdog! Pancakes are to die for!

First visit to Cafe McBryde, and definitely not the last. David (my husband) and I finally made our trek over to this little neighborhood cafe and together decided that we totally enjoyed the service and ambience this place provides. We were greeted by a fellow patron, which clued us in to the welcoming atmosphere carried over by the servers. There are a lot of choices to choose from for both breakfast and lunch (we were there for breakfast), but not too overwhelming. Portions were comparable to price and each breakfast item came with home fries and toast. Neat thing is you could switch out these side items for other items as well. More patrons came in throughout our meal and just lended itself to the familiarity of those who come in.
Overall, we would say family friendly cafe with good food and good service. -

I decided to travel by car from Seattle to Los Angeles for the holidays. Sounds crazy, but after all the travel I've been doing recently, I couldn't imagine kenneling my poor dog YET AGAIN--he had been in the kennel longer in the last month than he had been at home with me. So... road trip with the puppy!
Fortunately for me, my brother resides in SF, giving me a pretty convenient mid-point to spend the night. I mean, I suppose I could've driven straight through, but I'd wind up losing a day recovering. Blah. Might as well take it easy, and get some rest in the middle.
On my way back North, I again stayed in SF. I left in the morning, got myself across the bridge and past what I figured would be the worst points of traffic, and dangerously searched for breakfast spots whilst speeding on the highway. This place popped up, I mapped it, and exited. Gassed up nearby, pulled in, gave Carson some treats, and headed in.
It's not the prettiest place, or the fanciest, and definitely not the largest, but it IS warm and welcoming. The gal good morning'd me, and had a pot of coffee in hand at my table as I was sitting down. She had no problem filling up my travel mug, and dropped a menu off as she moved off to take care of other folks.
I found myself a veggie omelet on the menu, retrieved an Oakland newspaper, and faster than I could read an article had my breakfast in front of me. The fruit dish seemed fresh, the omelet hit the spot, and I discovered that things in Oakland seem just as dark and dismal as things in Los Angeles, Seattle, and just about everywhere else I've been. Which isn't surprising, considering bad news sells.
I paid up, and the waitress still topped off my travel mug for the road. That rocked! Until about 50 miles later when all that coffee made me have to pee.

*Relax and Eat here*
This is my place to relax, read my weekend newspaper, and of course eat a delicious breakfast in a small, quiet, comfortable, and friendly hole in the wall joint Cafe. Having this cafe across the street from my place is such a convenience it makes me want to eat there every weekend.
I ordered 2 eggs with hash browns, thick slice of ham with wheat toast and a large glass of orange juice. I sat by the window, looked at the 10/11am drivers on a Saturday morning getting gas at the ARCO gas station across the street on the corner; and casually read my West County Times newspaper - Saturday edition lol.
Yup. This place has an old school mom and pop cafe/diner feel to it and i wouldn't doubt that it's family ran and/or owned. The waitress was really nice and made me feel like i had been coming there for years when I've only been there only 3 times in my life. Now it's my understanding that this place has been there for years but I've only known about the cafes' existence for about 4 years now.
I give this place 4 out of 5 stars only because they only take cash. They haven't updated there system yet to take ATM/Debit cards yet, and I'm sure they don't plan on it anytime soon unfortunately. So come with cash when you go to eat there!
See you at Cafe McBryde. Word! -

Great Pancakes ! My gf and I split a blueberry pancake and it was delicious.
My hash browns and her home fries with tomatoes(it works) were crispy and not greasy. They were on point!
My eggs were over easy and perfect, hers were over medium and perfect. Also not as greasy as any other breakfast spot I have been to.
Ever.
Owner is a nice lady who said she has been in business over 20 years.
Do not trip if she does not write down your order.
She knows. Just like Mama Knows. She knows.
I went in there was a Mexican family finishing up their brunch. 2 Young black kids came in and the lady said, "Hi! Your Grandpa was just in here earlier. " The kids smiled like that's what grandpa does on Saturday morn. The food comes out fast and hot. Tasty and good. Coffee is not too exciting, neither is the decor...
... but that pancake and crispy potato products made with love makes up for any breakfast I have ever had at McGreasy's, IHop, Denny's, Nibs, Etc. Etc.
Try the blueberry pecan pancake with a ham steak, hash browns or home fries and 2 eggs over easy or add a couple sausage and bacon if you -really- wanna undo that belt.

This cafe is a great find in an otherwise spartan breakfast-option area. My boyfriend and I enjoy doing crossword puzzles over pancakes on the weekend, but Richmond, where we live, doesn't offer too much in that regard. We've driven by this place several times, but it really is a "hole in the wall." And it was with hesitance that we entered.
But what an enchanting little cafe! It's cozy and unpretentious. Completely "mom & pop." I think it was the owners who served us, and they were very nice. The breakfast menu is quite extensive, with great combinations, like pancakes with eggs. And the prices! Perfectly affordable. Not the overpriced $8 pancakes you can get in Berkeley. The food wasn't gourmet. But you get a hearty, good meal for a good price.
It's definitely a local treasure and I'm almost unwilling to share the secret, but I do believe they could use the extra business.
This isn't a gourmet experience you should drive 30 minutes to enjoy, but it's a wonderful little cafe for you locals to try out. Highly recommended! Hope to see you there! -

Good Good Good breakfast! Perfect example of how a hole in the wall can make your day. Needs updating on the inside, it looks like an outdated cafeteria. But if you want to support local business, come to this place!

My favorite is the Club House with green salad and her home made ranch dressing. -

I just love the feel of a small neighborhood coffee shop in this era of large chains. And the pancakes are quite good! Really homemade tasting. When I was there, the mailman came in for a bite to eat and apparently he is a regular so the owner was asking him how his grandkids were etc. etc. It is that kind of place. I will be back there for sure... oh and they extended their hours too but they close at 4 pm.

I love this little cafe. The owner is really nice and sweet. I've been coming here for 5 years or so.You normally see the locals-the food taste like home cooking and the prices are very affordable. Great breakfast and lunch menu. I love the home fries and the burgers are pretty good for the price. Sweet woman and her workers are also very nice I like to support local restaurants. It does take a little time for the food to be cooked at times but its worth the wait. Cash only.

The restaurant has a very pleasant neighborhood atmosphere with cheery lavendar walls and a friendly and efficient wait staff. My only complaint was that the pancakes we ordered were just a little too over-cooked (you know, that dark shade of brown you get before the pancake starts to blacken).
